Staff was great. Complaints. Were poor layout of the room. 2 adults with 3 suitcases left us no room to put or suitcases out, no room to put clothes.
No garb bars in shower, no non slip on shower floor made it very slippery with nothing to hold onto.

Modern high-rise hotel at the south edge of Old Town. Right next door to several shopping malls and to Noordin Street. Very convenient to Thaipussam celebrations many of which take place right in front of the building. Armenian Street is about 15 minute walk. Beautiful views of Georgetown from club-level floors and from the lounge itself. Main breakfast restaurant was very busy, perhaps because of the ongoing Indian festival.

The stay was good overall, and I was satisfied with most aspects.

The counter staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. Their service was greatly appreciated.

However, the operator customer service was rude and often sarcastic, which negatively impacted the experience.

The housekeeping service did not replenish the tissues, which was a minor inconvenience.

The pillows were too soft for my preference.

Good location, great staff and helpful too. Though within our price range it was a lot more 'luxury' than we are usually comfortable with. Lots and lots of food choices from streetfood to restaurants. The concierge was very helpful with information on hiking Penang Hill Heritage Trail and using the Penang Hill Funicular Train retuning. Very nice hotel.

2 big standouts: Subbiah and his Team 2622622 in morning buffet breakfast over 3 consistent breakfast days took care of breakfast like it was his own hospitable establishment. Professional caring very hard working, gracious, 100% on the ball, make the whole experience top class. The food the drinks everything was crazy awesome. Kudos to this man and the team that brands this Shangrilla establishment.
2nd highlight was the reception manager on that day Keven who helped us on check in to help us with even our expedia booking converting our stay for 3 people to 2 people as my 80 yo mother in law got sick couldn't come and came up with using his discretion to throw in breakfast with Subbiah's team.
we will come back to Jen hotel again when we come back to Penang and hope to see Subbiah again.
By the way, subbiah never approached us, we approached him to tell him how good we thought he was and wanted to know how to provide a review.

Review: Our recent 3-day,2-night stay was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we arrived until we (reluctantly) left, every detail was perfect.

A huge standout was the breakfast—it was absolutely superb and far beyond our expectations. The variety and quality were excellent, and it was a fantastic start to our days, especially with our family.

What truly made our stay memorable, however, was the incredible friendliness of the entire team. We were greeted with genuine smiles by everyone: from the front office who ensured a smooth check-in, the security who made us feel safe, the bell hops who were always helpful, the cafe staff who were so attentive, to the housekeeping team who kept our room impeccable. Even the staff at the pool and gym were wonderful and engaging.

It’s clear that this hotel has a culture of excellent service, and it made our family trip so relaxing and enjoyable. We will definitely be returning.

Here are commendable points by the staff

1) Breakfast at lobby café
The staff at the café clear the dish promptly.
One of the staff noticed that my friend's napkin has dropped, the staff replaced with new napkin. Good service.

3) Housekeeping service
Upon checking into the room, we found that the usb port is unable to charge in both bedside. Informed that staff at the reception counter, they get the hosukeeping staff to check. When we came back to the room, we found that the usb port has been rectified, Good service

3) At check out counter
At check out , the staff took an extra effort to print out to show that the credit card transaction was cancelled. Good service,.

In addition, while queuing to check out, there were some people that tried to jump queue by standing behind the counter instead of standing at the queue pole. The staff redirected these people to stand at the queue pole which is fair for the rest of people queuing behind. Bravo effort

This the second time staying in this hotel after 3 year. the service standard is high . The hotel location is central location with malls. Highly recommend to friends

Perfectly pleasant hotel. As ever, very warm, friendly and helpful staff with a professional approach to their work. Great location in the centre of George Town - try 99 McNair for hawker food - 2 minutes round the corner from the hotel.

Room was pleasant, clean and modern. Breakfast was very good. Lobby bar was nice with good cocktails and great live music at the weekend.

The club lounge is good - the selection of drinks is small but OK - international and local beer, wine and free pour brand spirits. The food is more than sufficient for an evening supper if you can't be bothered going out (or if like me you are greedy) but it would be better still if it was more authentic malay food.

We would stay here again. :-)

Jen is under Shangrila group and all things are up to standard. Yet, cleanliness / housekeeping will need to be improved as some tiny hairs can be found in the bath tub. Staff are ok polite but not too welcoming to guests. There is a tricky thing to use the TV remote control, and we have waited for a long time at first for someone to clarify the use. We suggest the management to put a note inside the room for guest easy reference. In fact, we enjoyed staying in Shangrila hotels in the past, but our recent stay would suggest improvement in overall management.
