Apukka resort had very nice Glass Igloos with beautiful surroundings.
Resort had several activities offered - Husky rides, Rein deer sled rides etc.
We however preferred to enjoy the already available activities like Rein deer farm viewing, Frozen lake walk, Fire camping , snow tubing , snow Sledding there .

Breakfast was exquisite with several choices ranging from jucies , desserts, main course food like oatmeal, pancakes, varieties of breads, cheese .

We stayed here for the glass igloos experience and hopes to see northern lights. For our bad luck it was a very cloudy day that night , else the resort is far away from Rovaneimi lights and a perfect place for northern lights viewing .

Stayed in the igloo glass cabins, very atmospheric, beautiful surroundings. The fire log cabins around the property and hiking trails are excellent. Sled provided was a lot of fun.
Overall staff very friendly, reception and breakfast excellent.

However, most amenities ( sauna) are not included, which is disappointing considering how expensive the Aurora cabins are. Lapland activities booked through the resort are almost 2-3 times the price compared to independent providers. Unless you are looking for convenince you will be better off booking external providers.

Cabins had a nice layout with good features. We were able to see Northern lights from our bed. Two nights they were a bit to our side, so 180 view limited our view a bit. Walked to lakeside and sat around the covered fire. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast buffet. Shuttle was relatively convenient except for late afternoon and early morning to train station which required 50 euro taxi. Also, pathways to room would have been safer with path lighting (fell one night).

Presented really well and was clean staff were friendly however EVERYTHING costs a fortune and is NOT included. $600AUD FOR 2 people to do any activity that goes for approx 2 hours. Breakfast is not served until 8am so if leaving early your told bad luck. Village is far away from reception and breakfast was mediocre

The resort was very pretty and clean, and the cabins were incredible. The included breakfast was international and included lots of different options. Make sure you have a car though. Otherwise, you'll have to take a taxi everywhere. You can not walk to attractions.

A fantastic resort located right on the shores of a large lake, offering plenty of activities—including both traditional and portable saunas—and a well-equipped adventure center. The cabins are beautiful, modern, and extremely comfortable, featuring large windows perfect for viewing the aurora borealis. The resort also provides a convenient (paid) shuttle service to Santa’s Village. The staff are exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

The only downside is the hot water system: you get about 20 minutes of hot water at a time, and it can take up to two hours for the tank to fully refill.

Amazng.....Accommodation Queen Igloos so comfy and cosy. Food delish, staff so friendly. Northern Lights snowmobile ride was such fun but cold, wear as many layers as you can, guides were great.
Saw the northern lights from bed. Had only booked one nights as reviews were saying best to for staying in the Igloo but I'd stay longer, Igloos are spacious and u can control the heating.

We came here hoping for the type of romantic, once in a lifetime experience you see on Instagram. What we got was bad weather, and a \"resort\" with no included amenities, and that is close to absolutely nothing. Youre stranded here, with nothing to do besides book their activities for $150. This was the most disappointing place ive ever stayed in over 36 countries.

Form the moment you arrive you are made to feel most welcome by the staff every member of staff was so nice and welcoming. The place its self is simply stunning a once in a lifetime experience. We stayed in a room with a glass roof so you lay in bed and see the Northern Lights. The room was spotless the food was divine, heaven on earth.

We had an amazing stay in Apukka. The aurora cabin was beautiful and cosy, and we were so lucky to see the northern lights so vividly from bed! The staff were friendly and there is a great range of activities on site. The grounds are stunning to walk around, and it is very peaceful. The breakfast is fabulous with a wide variety of foods - a huge bonus was a lot was lactose free. The shuttle bus to and from the resort (stopping at Rovaniemi city and Santa Claus Village) was very useful. All in all a great stay worth every penny.

What a wonderful surprise! We 3 adults stayed in a Family Unit that was cozy yet spacious. Our view was breathtaking for the entire two night stay! Loved all the effort put into this resort to accommodate and enhance your experience. The unit design was efficient and the “reindeer” made us smile.

We ate at the restaurant twice and it was wonderful. The breakfast too. What a wonderful surprise!

Amazing stay at Apukka!! Highly recommend booking a cabin, the glass windows are incredible for star & Aurora gazing. The buffet food and dinners were delicious— only thing we wished we knew ahead of time was that only one of the restaurants is open for dinner during autumn season, meaning very limited meal options. That said, food was still amazing! I really liked the activities they offer, we did fat e-bike rentals, sauna, and took the shuttle to go hiking. All super great experiences! Oh and can’t forget the staff, they were all so warm and kind.

Upon arrival we weren’t able to check in yet but Patty gave us a thorough overview of the grounds and services and allowed us to store our luggage while we explored the grounds. There is so much to do and it’s a pity we couldn’t spend more time. There’s a shuttle that goes to Santa’s village which was very convenient. The resort is remote enough that you’re able to see the northern lights on a clear day. The staff even set up a bonfire for us while we went on our own hunt. The restaurants were amazing all around. The cabin was incredibly beautiful and cozy. I cannot recommend this resort more !

We absolutely adored our stay at Apukka. We were initially put off by the distance away from Rovaniemi, but the property has so many activities and is near a beautiful lake. Our igloo was gorgeous. The food at the on-site restaurants was amazing. The staff here are the highlight - they are so helpful and kind! Just make the booking!

To be the highlight and last stop of an 8 day trip to Finland, we had high expectations. Unfortunately the service and food let them down, which had been excellent elsewhere. We emailed ahead to ask if the cabin could be ready at 3pm to enjoy the daylight -no, it would be ready at 4pm. Fine. We arrived just before 4pm - it wasn't ready, we waited in reception and were told there had been an issue, couldn't say what, and asked if we wanted anything as 'compensation' - I suggested a glass of wine but was only offered a bar of chocolate. We waited an hour, it was now dark, and the cabin so cold, we slept in our clothes the first night. Not a good start. The next night the main restaurant had an event and was closed to guests. They opened the Kota instead. Good, looking forward to flame grilled salmon. No-just heat lamped. The beer was actually warmer than the food. The following day we had a takeaway from the restaurant, and an ice cold beer whilst I waited, both excellent. The cabin was now warm and cosy and the location stunning. I think we were unlucky, our cabin overlooked and the restaurant shut, but most disappointing was the lack of any meaningful apology after contacting the resort once we got home. The highlight of the trip, the Arctic Light Hotel Rovaniemi, public transport to Santa village and much wider food options

After extensive research we chose Aupukka for our family holiday.
We spent x5 nights in a Kammi Class igloo and booked lots of activities.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and were looked after by the very friendly and helpful staff.
The igloo was perfect for our family of 3, it was clean, modern and had everything we needed.
All the activities were ran by friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff and at no point did we feel rushed. Snowmobiling with Erwin was a particular highlight.
The breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice, both hot and cold.
We pre-booked and paid for half board for 4 nights of our stay, This was the only negative for me and I wouldn't do this again. Its no cheaper booking and paying up front than if you just rock up that evening. The starter and dessert are buffet and you get to choice your main meal from 2 options. Although what we had was nice, if you didn't like either of the 2 options you were stuck. We also tried to swap our pre-booked half board for the A La Carte menu on our last night and although initially being told we couldn't, they did allow it but only gave us 40% of our pre-paid monies towards the cost. Dont get me wrong, all the food was really nice but by pre-booking we boxed ourselves into a corner and had no option to try the other restaurant onsite.
I would highly recommend Apukka and 100% stay here again but simply not book any dining options in advance.

Facility was excellent but staff should be trained

The facility was way beyond excellent but most of the staff did not seem too friendly or ready to assist. A good number at the desk seemed overwhelmed by the most fundamental task like refilling the water for guests at the reception or working the register. The resto staff could not tell for sure how much the buffet was. The guides for the \"Norther Lights Hunt\" were so uninspired and did not know anything about the presentation (which they will just read) they had before the hunt. The experience would have been so much better and complete if the staff matched the beautiful place. Only Carren at the desk knew how to handle many inquiries and have foresight.

Nothern light hunting

Couple from Singapore. Stay in Appuka Resort for 3 days 2 nights, main reason is to hunt for nothern light at the frozen lake. Managed to capture soft aurora on our first night, but unlucky on the second night.
Our queen aurora cabin is comfortable. Morning breakfast is great. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Appuka Resort.

Pretending to be boutique tourist scam

Pictures looks nice and exterior of the property matches the picture.

Equipment is super CHEAP - bathroom equipment is like from a dollar store sale.

Staff does not care about the client experience but about upselling things, which are part of the experience at room price of such cost (i.e. if you have breakfast included and wants orange juice - 5 EUR).

I understand that they are full regardless how they treat their guests, but if you are looking to have boutique experience which matches the price, I would kindly advise to look somewhere else.

Advice to management: I understand business is about money, but at least train your staff accordingly and if you maximize profits, I think most guests would prefer 100 EUR / night more if getting the respect they deserve.

Its a good experience to stay in Apukka aurora cabin, however its with limited dining if stay there for the whole day, breakfast spread is reasonable but no great. Limited transport, only 9:50am shuttle to Arctic Circle hiking area and back 1 pm, they will not allow late check out and charge €30/hour which is not reasonable.

A winter wonderland

The most amazing place. It was like a dream come true. We visited Santa Claus village and had looked at staying there but we are so glad we chose Apukka, it was peaceful and tranquil and everything you imagine a winter wonderland to be. The paths were lit with candle light and the tipis with wood fires where perfect for warming up in during a break from the snow if you don’t fancy going back to your toasty igloo. I honestly can’t recommend enough, the staff were friendly and more than happy to help with any questions/arrange things. The buffet breakfast had a great choice, and if like us you have a fussy eater there is still plenty for them to have. We sat by the fire most nights after eating with a cocktail or glass of something.
There was plenty of room in the igloo and the facilities were great. They are heated and insulated well and never once felt cold. I had read some reviews about the hot water but there was plenty for the three of us to shower without rushing. Sadly we didn’t see the northern lights (but at least we have an excuse to return now) but the glass ceiling/window is perfect for relaxing underneath looking at the night sky.
We can’t wait to return and can’t recommend staying at Apukka enough!

This is an amazing resort. The people that work at Apukka were friendly and very accommodating. Check in was a breeze. The food at the resort was delicious and price was very fair. Apukka has many activities, snowmobiling, Husky tours and the northern lights were amazing. I wish I could say more.

Lapland experience

So I’m very torn about this place but I’ll start out with the negative and then go in to the positive.
We book a 3 night stay here as part of our honeymoon trip. We where traveling from the US then would continue our trip from there.
We got Covid a couple days before the wedding and had to reschedule our wedding and honeymoon. Most places where accommodating and understanding with the change by helping at little to no charge.
Apukka did not. They refused to help us in any way. Basically we lost our complete booking and weren’t offered even a small credit for a future stay. Which I feel like is terrible customer service.
That being said we didn’t want our honeymoon plans ruined by this and decided to pay again for the three night stay.
The place is beautiful with lots of activities. They are expensive but seem worth it. We ate at the restaurant there and enjoyed every meal. Breakfast is included and was great. We saw the northern lights one night from our cabin and on the reindeer tour. So all around I would highly recommend this place. Just don’t expect them to do anything at all for you if anything happens to your trip plans.
The customer service on site was good other then this.
Rooms are very cozy and warm.
Its far from everything so expect to spend most of your time at the resort when you go. Which isn’t a problem if you don’t mind paying for the activities.
The sauna experience is worth the money.

We found the resort to be charming and delightful. We stayed in the Kammi Suite and it was cozy and well appointed. It was very warm as well. The kitchen had a good sized fridge and a microwave. Our suite was private and romantic. The bed was two twin beds so a little weird for a married couple to share, but still comfortable. We stayed in winter so darkness wasn’t an issue, however the Kammi Suites too windows do not have shades. This may be problematic in summer with extended daylight.

We booked activities through the resort which were convenient and amazing! Don’t be shy to ask about the shared shuttle - it wasn’t always offered to us but it was MUCH cheaper than a taxi for in-town or Santa Claus Village trips. The hotel runs the shuttle to there and city center regularly for people taking the tours but not staying at the resort.

It pains me to say were a bit disappointed by our accommodation. The reindeer tour was great though and the guides very friendly and informational. We stayed in a komsio teepee and felt like we were paying top price so had decently high expectations. A main light was non functioning, so we let front desk know but no one ever came. There were tons of switches in the room but some ones with arrows had no explanation as to what they did. The shower was pretty confusing and leaked water on the floor as well as an empty soap dispenser. We were there only one night so there was no use notifying the hotel about this but I feel like it should be checked. Also no where to hang towels in bathroom. I know they say Finland is expensive but this is truly high end resort compared to the rest of the country so there should be higher standards. The building itself is decorated really nicely and and the woodwork beautiful so I do truly think that with attention to some more detail it could be a great stay.

Romantic getaway in Arctic wilderness

We stayed in the resort for 3 nights as part of our wedding anniversary celebration trip. Komsio suite was spectacular - Warm, spacious and with spectacular views from the bed into the starry night sky. During our stay we saw weak northern lights once as had signed up to Aurora alarm advertised in the room.
Breakdast was delicious. We had quite few meals in the hotel and all food was absolutely amazing. I would recommend Reindeer sharing platter.
We also did few trips through the hotel. I recommend husky ride and night-time snowmobiling. It was our first time to do both activities but guides were amazing.
Would definitely stay at the hotel again if in the area.
Additionally one of the big bonuses was that this hotel had bus stop on the road so it was easy and inexpensive to get to Santa Village and Rovaniemi.

We stayed in a glass cabin and were able to see the Northern Lights from inside on the first night. The cabin was warm, neat, and clean.
We did 2 activities while at the resort. Because they host thier own activities we didn not have to ride a bus or take transportation to another locatuon.
The first night we did the Snow Train Auroura hunt. The snow train cars are enclosed and heated, but with clear sides and roof so you can see the moon lit forrest during the ride. The car was a bit small for a big person but just right for average sized persons. The Snow Train stops at a Finnish Kota with a warm fire and hot drinks. The Northern Lights were already active when we arrived so everyone got busy taking picutres. The guide also took pictures and shared those with all guests. Around the campfire the guide explained the science of the Northern Lights and also there ancient myths.
The next day we visited a the on site Siberian Husky dogs and rode a dog sled through the snow covered forrest. Our guide gave us a quick lesson on the dog sled, then we got on our sleds in pairs. One person driving the other riding inside. Halfway through we were able to switch drivers. Once back to the kennels we had some time to interact with the dogs who pulled our sled. They were great dogs and we got pictures of each one. At end we went inside a Koto with a warm fire an hot drinks. Our guide spoke at length about the responsible way their dogs are bred, trained and cared for.

House with big window to watch northern light. But they have time limit to supply hot water for shower. Only 20 mins for each house. Have to wait two hours to reheat.

There is no free pick up service to and fro between the airport and the hotel. I took Taxi which cost EUR30 from the airport to the hotel.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were kind to us and engaged in wonderful conversation. THey made sure we were taken care of, and put our needs first. Loved every minute of our stay at the resort, and the staff was a huge selling point! Great mix of activity and nature

Exactly what we were looking for our anniversary day! Got some activity, recharged and good mood.
Snow shoes were borrowed (included to rate) from Apukka for a nice walk in the nearby Arctic circle recreation area, which includes some true Lapland nature.
Stay in the Aurora cabin was just perfect: wide view of the clear sky and even lucky to see some Northern lights. No TV, no noise, just the stars, quietness and us.
Great buffet dinner with local specials (reindeer, pike...). Very friendly guides, giving hints and nice chat, although we didn't do much of their paid activities.
Great premises with nice mix of new and traditional Finnish rustic style.

Wonderful staff, fantastic activities!

Airport transfer was welcoming, with the driver helping us all the way from the luggage belt to the car. Staff we encountered along the way to the reception were so cordial, friendly, and nice! They made us feel at home right away. Checking-in was fast, and staff was attentive and warm, helping us with the bus schedules and enquires about activities. When we feedbacked about the glass ledge in the bathroom coming loose and the back door not being able to shut properly, the staff immediately looked into it even though it was already late evening. The repairs were done promptly during the course of our dinner. Every morning, we were greeted by the staff warmly too, and those in charge of the various outdoor activities were so bright and energetic, injecting enthusiasm in us! Very, very wonderful experience overall made by the fantastic Apukka staff! Stay here if you're looking for a home away from home!

Stayed in one of the aurora cabins. I feel it was a bit expensive for what it was. Had to ask for our floor heating to be turned up as the heater in the room is just for show. The location is quite far away so taxi rides are expensive and buses are not too frequent. There are activities run by the resort, but they are quite expensive also.

Apukka is really comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and fun. Even though there wasn't any snow it was easy to find alternative things to do. I would definitely stay here again. The food in the restaurant was amazing. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Our best ever adventure

Fantastic resort in an amazing location. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and particularly kind when our daughter had an accident requiring hospital treatment. The husky safari and guide were particularly excellent, but the whole stay was magical (despite the accident) and we will definitely return. Thank you!

Apukka with family

Our stay at Apukka was outstanding. The staff were friendly and happy to organise activities. The dinner was a great selection and breakfast was substantial. The place was peaceful and surreal at times. There were many paid activities of course, but there were other things to do like a nice walk on a track in the forest, play toboggans, sit by the lake or sit inside and relax by the fire. The place really is out of the way so as to enjoy the aurora and so you should do your shopping before coming up if you just want some snacks or other things from the supermarket. Transport is easy - you could have your own car (easy) or the resort will provide (most expensive) or you can get a taxi (which we did one way) or you can catch a bus from across the road (which we also did with comfort and no problems). Just do your research so you know what to expect. A wonderful experience!

We didn’t get to see the aurora, but lying under the night sky full of stars is truly a breathtaking experience. The food was very nice too. Had some moose meat, reindeer sausage & awesome chicken soup!

The Apukka Resort is a friendly place to stay in Lapland. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It has more a feel of a wilderness retreat than a fancy resort-which suited us just fine. We didn't stay in the fancy min-cabins with the glass ceilings. Instead we stayed in a small apartment. It wasn't fancy, but it was very clean, comfortable, and had lots of space. There was plenty to do with at the resort and the breakfast buffet was nice.

The glass room is a cool concept and the room is nice although it is very small and tight for 2 adults and 2 kids. There isn't a real closet and we had a room that had a view of the office. Hard to see arouras when instead you are seeing the light of the office where you check-in

Quiet place on the lake

The location was perfect away from town where if the sky is clear would be able to see the northern lights. Our trip was too cloudy but the location was right. Will need a rental car, breakfast was good and the optional dinner was well prepared. We didn’t stay in the cool little sky light cabins, our place was a building over and needs some renovation but the rest of the property looks recently redone and nice. Beds were comfortable and for the price was fantastic.

The place is nice, so is the stuff. However the rates for the resort shuttle transport are extremely high and there is no wine at the restaurant. Also there was lots of mud and msome kind of pavement should be considred inside the property to walk around.
