The hotel is in a great location, especially for those wanting to visit the Santa Claus Village. Being so central you have a choice of several dining options and convenience shops.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and always friendly and accommodating.
Where the hotel was not so great, it is very dated inside, especially the rooms. The lobby is large but in need of renovation, along with the dining area.
The breakfast was also not great, limited choice and an acquired taste at best!
Thankfully we only need a room to sleep and rest, and spent the majority of the time seeing the wonderful city of Rovaniemi.
All in all a ok hotel in a prefect spot, but let down by its facilities and food.
Based on the above we cannot recommend the hotel, as there are several others in the same vicinity for roughly the same price.

Rooms are old, there is a stink coming from the shower drain, not terrible but noticeable.

Not worth the price at all. The property is old and needs a serious revamp. Despite being in arctic circle with such cold weather, the least we were expecting is a water heating kettle in the room which was absent. The rooms allocated were on 3rd floor in a section of the hotel where the elevator goes only until 2nd floor. Had to bring huge suitcases up the stairs.

I had a very pleasant stay all around! It was the best budget I could find in Dec, and was very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and staff was very warm and welcoming! The location was great in the downtown area and very walkable to many restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again!

We just stayed 1 night so we weren't looking for a spectacular hotel. However, for the cost we expected more than what we got. The location and complimentary breakfast options were very good. The staff could have been a bit more friendly and the hotel definitely needs an upgrade. Especially in the rooms like the beds and showers.

Good service but poor hardware.

The staff were friendly and the room was spacious. However there are a lot of rooms that are not accessible by lift, and very often tourists had to carry their luggage’s up and down the long staircases, which is very often not easy to do. So be careful when selecting this hotel - if you’re travelling with wheelchairs or heavy luggages, maybe another hotel would be better. If not, Scandic Polar is perfect.

I did not stay at the scandic polar as it was closed. I stay at the scandic pohanjovi instead. This was a more picturesque .
Location perfect with busses stopping outside. Also on new yeats eve , i did not have to go outside .
This is a four star hotel. It has a pool and sauna. I did not use either mainly because of covid and i was outside most of tbe time.

Very nice hotel for a good price

I was really happy with the hotel, for a budget holiday I dont think you can ask for more. Rooms were warm, nice and clean, beds very comfortable. Nice shower. Breakfast a nice option of food, simple but a big selection and vey nice.
Hotel is based in fantastic location, close to everywhere, food, market, restaurants, trips etc. Hotel staff are very friendly, no issues at all. Would really recommend and come back.

Walls a little thin so be sure to keep your volume down. The room was spacious and the hotel is easy to find. Great eats around the area but may get crowded so do make reservations. Hotel staff are available 24/7 and are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is conveniently located in the city center. supermarket, shops, bar and restaurants are all 2 minutes away. Bus stop to and from train station and Santa Claus village is down stairs. The hotel is a bit old and breakfast is minimal, but given the relatively cheap price and location, I think it is all right if you are looking for a clean and tidy place to sleep.

We enjoyed staying here, right in the middle of the town area. Buses to Santas village nearby and also the frozen river. Christmas decorations everywhere and snow. It's like a fairyland, just beautiful.
The room is spacious with big windows to look at the snow. It was great to see the snow falling from our warm room. Breakfast was delicious too. Staff were friendly.

Needs some sprucing up!

The hotel looks really old and musty - it's in dire need of some refurbishment! The hotel staff is excellent though.
Location is pretty good, but Rovaniemi is a small town. Wifi is good. Breakfast spread wasn't a lot.
Would return if they would just do something about the hotel.. especially with such a new hotel like Artic Light just opposite at about the same price.

I have stayed at this hotel before. A little more quaint than a larger hotel nearby. I enjoy its atmosphere. Nice staff. This is the first time I have stayed closer to two weeks. The morning buffet never changed and it got very boring to eat there. More than fine if you are staying only a few days. Mixing up the breakfast offering would be very nice.

Good affordable hotel in the City Centre.

I found this hotel on Expedia and loved the price and location. Public transport was great in Rovaniemi so it worked out great for my friends and I--we took a shuttle in from the airport and could walk all around the downtown. The reception was super friendly and had all kinds of good ideas for things we could do in town, including booking a Northern Lights tour right when we arrived. I really liked the breakfast--the meatballs were cool as were the awesome sugar cookies. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that we couldn't regulate temperature in the rooms. I get hot easily and two of our three nights, I had to sleep with a window open since the heat was cranked. But aside from that, it was a great hotel!

A rustic but basic hotel located in great area. Decent breakfast with really good bread and cold cuts. Staff behind the counter were extremely friendly, helpful and informative.
Very convenient and easy access to local buses to Santa Village as well as the airport. Walkable to the Artikum Museum and other malls.

I have stayed here twice. Beds are small and a little hard (like all of Europe). The Cumulus has a quieter atmosphere. Pohjanhovi has a busy, bustling lobby. I do not like the crowds, so I stay at Cumulus.

Stayed with them for 3 nights before going over to our reserved B & B. By far, this is the first hotel I've stayed in which has no coffee making facility in their rooms. When my husband asked if we could have a kettle, they prompt us to the breakfast buffet area which is only available in the morning.... Breakfast was good. Customer service wise, it depends on who was on shift. There's a lovely lady who never fails to greet guests, but we don't see her often. Overall the major plus is it's location. 2 minutes walk to shops. No short of places to eat out. There's a nice little homely diner which serves buffet lunch for less than 10 euros just around the corner. Limited free parking space, since we visited during off peak season, so no real problem.

Room service was excellent except the food can get boring especially since we stayed for more than over a week. (The food is the same EVERYDAY!)

Checked out was disappointed. As we had a very early flight (6+am) to take, although the counter staff was kind to help up booked a taxi upon our checked out (at 4am), he did not provide further assistant when he knew that Airport only opens at 5am and from hotel to airport takes only 10 to 20mins! The taxi came at 4.10am and we had no choice but take the taxi, and ended up having to be in the cold for nearly half hour before one of the airport staff opened the main door slightly before 5am.

Størrelsen på værelset og bad var fint. Der var en utæthed ude på badeværelset. Der var generelt en kedelig lugt på værelset fra ventilationen. Jeg oplevede både mad- og cigaret-os.
Personalet var meget søde og servicemindede.

スタッフの方々は皆親切に対応してくださいました。フロントでは給水、給湯もできるので、持ってきたカップラーメンなどを食べることもできました。
客室は古く、お風呂場などもあまり清潔とはいえないものでした。
市内に位置にしているので、アクセスは便利でした。

Hotel mais antigo, mas ainda em perfeito funcionamento. Faltam itens de conforto, como ajuste de temperatura nos quartos e cafeteira. A localização é muito boa. Muito adequado para uma estadia em Rovaniemi, sobretudo se o hóspede pretende passar menos tempo no apartamento.

Vieil établissement. Nous avons réservé une chambre double, mais nous avons eu deux lits simples disposés chacun à une extrémité de chambre, l’un derrière l’autre. De plus, l’eau des toilettes ressortait par la grille de douche avec toutes les matières. Ils sont venus déboucher les tuyaux, mais n’ont jamais nettoyé la salle de bains. Sur 4 nuits, la chambre n’a été faite qu’une seule fois

Huone oli miellyttävän oloinen vaikka tyyli olikin jo aika vanhaa. Kylpyhuone ei ollut kuitenkaan kovin siistin oloinen, aamupalalla iso osa astioista likaisia. Huoneessa oli myös ongelmia lämpötilan kanssa. Vaikka ulkona oli -15 astetta pakkasta, huoneessa oli tukalan kuuma. Sinne kuitenkin saatiin huolto paikalle ja seuraavana päivänä huoneen lämpötila oli ok.

Tilat ”huutavat” päivitystä!

Yleisvaikutelma tiloista oli ”nuhjuinen”. Esimerkiksi tein huoneesta seuraavat havainnot: Heti huoneeseen astuessa ihmettelin syntynyttä ääntä, se johtui lattian irrallisesta laminaatista. Lisäksi seiniltä puuttui koristelistan osia, myöskään vuoteiden lukulamput eivät toimineet. Toimivat valot olivat liian kirkkaat ja ”kylmät”, asia jolla on merkittävä vaikutus viihtyvyyteen.

Kylpyhuoneen ovessa oli sisäpuolella iso reikä, ja lavuaari oli halki. Rakeenteellisena omituisuutena suihkutilan korkea ja terävä metallinen kynnys ja sen ovien kovaääninen paukkuminen. Suihkun hanan toiminta oli nurinkurinen; toistuvasti vettä tuli vahingossa joko ylhäältä tai alhaalta, todella erikoinen toimintaperiaate.

Hissiin mennessä tuli vastaan eräässä kohdassa lattiapäälysteen rikkoutunut osa joka oli korjattu laudan pätkällä.

Ala-aulan oleskelutilassa pisti silmään kulmastaan rikkoutunut pöydän lasipinta. Aulatilan muuten siistissä WC:ssä epäkunnossa oleva pesuallas/hana.

Tässä tällaisia kiihkottomia huomioita kun niitä pyysitte.

Nous avons aimé les petits déjeuners copieux et variés avec des propositions de produits locaux , l'amabilité du personnel d’accueil souriant et disponible pour donner des renseignements, la situation de l’hôtel dans le centre ville proche des magasins ,restaurants arrêts de bus... mais très calme,le sauna au sein de l'hôtel. Nous avons quelques fois regretté qu'il ny ai pas de restauration le soir.

Das einzig Gute an der Unterkunft ist die tolle Lage und die gute Anbindung an die Buslinien und den Santa Claus Express. Jedoch ist das Gebäude, die Einrichtung so alt und abgenutzt, dass man nur einmal dort absteigen wird. Die Betten sind total weich und klein, die Zimmer sehr abgenutzt und alt. Das ganze Hotel ist in den 60er Jahren stehen geblieben. Kaputte Lampen, ungenutzte Lobby, dunkle abgenutzte Möbel und keine wirklich attraktive Bar.
