Location is terrible. GPS takes you to a post in the middle of the road that can only be lowered by calling Hotel, we did this several times with no help. Finally gave up and went to local Holiday Inn with much better location. Sent email requesting refund since we were not able to stay there and was told against their policy. see below from hotel.

I tried all afternoon to answer you on the phone , and I opened the post in the middle of the road 4 times !
We can't refund you anything , sorry.
If you wanna cancel the reservation, you can but we can't refund, the director is strict about this.

Beware of google map, hotel at pedestrian zone

One block from Place Comedie, in a quiet area by a pedestrian/car tunnel.
Building dated, but room newly renovated with small fridge (no freezer compartment), nice shower, air-con, table and TV.
Due to the age of the building, the sound insulation is not great, if your neighbour is too loud, you might hear them.
Bed is not the most comfortable, but ok.
For one night stay at such a location and what we get from the hotel, we think the price is very very good.
This area is now a pedestrian area, so if you call the hotel, they are supposed to lower the metal bars to let you enter the tunnel and reach their front door for unloading the luggage.
Google map will only bring you until the front of the tunnel with metal barriers, right beside of Eurostar Hotel (or some name by Euro xxx -- i don't remember well).
If you don't have that many luggage, just bring your luggage from there and walk through the tunnel. It is like 3 min.
Hotel affiliated parking is 4-5 min walk from the hotel at the non-pedestrian area. It is 15 euros per day, else it is 35 euros.

Great budget value. Excellent location. Not fancy but we had a window to the street with a beautiful iron railing. Exactly what we needed. If I was going to stay for longer I might have looked for better room decor but for one night it was ideal.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, gave me a room upgrade and advice about what to see in the city. The mattress in the room had a strange slant to it but still comfortable.

The location is fantastic, 5 minutes walk from the train station and another 5 minutes walk to multiple restaurants and the Comedie tram station and center of the city.

I would definitely stay here again.

The property condition is a little old and the window gave no view and actually no safe escape in the case of fire either.

Everything was good except the AC ! They said they had someone look at it 2 weeks ago and nevef came back ! Dont believe that...If you run a small hotel you fix it ! Its not like the rooms are cheap. Save money on something else, not the comfort for the guests wher you get your income from.

Hotel is in an excellent location, few mins walk into the town. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient. The bad bits, it is advertised as onsite parking and we were traveling on motorcycles, however there is no parking onsite. However, there is parking on a multi storey around 400m away. The rooms are extremely dated and worn. With the exception of the disappointment with the parking, the 1 night stay was enjoyable based on the location

The Hotel is the type of hotel we like - not to big - personal attention. Close to the station - so not a long distance walking with the luggage.
What we did not like and thought not proper was the billing - whereby you are attracted by a rate of 82 E breakfast included, that eventually the rate varies per day and that the tax was not included, nor the breakfast. However the owner was willing to explained well why it was more - but this should be clearer and avoided.

We arrived too early for check in and were told to come back in an hour (fair enough). When we returned an hour later, we were told our room wasn’t ready and were asked to wait in the lobby. After 30 min we asked how much longer, and were told another hour! No explanation or apology.

While we were waiting, another group tried to check in and were told they’d been re-booked to a completely different hotel around a 10 min walk away with no explanation.

Once we finally got to the room it was obvious they rushed the cleaning job, and it was heavy with air freshener. The room (no. 16) faced onto the central core of the building, so was dark, had little fresh air, and was much smaller than any of the photos we’d seen. The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in black mould.

We were short of options because of the Women’s World Cup, otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. Montpellier seems like a lovely town, and I’m sure there are better places to stay.

Comfortable and Convenient Location

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Mistral. Everyone who worked there was extremely nice and made my stay very comfortable. The room was very clean and it seemed like the bathroom had been redone recently. It's about a 5 minute walk from the train station and to the Place de la Comedie, and it's very easy to walk just about anywhere else you'd want to go in the city center.

Wonderful staff, so friendly. Even said hello on the street to us when we saw them walking.
Towels, sheets do not need to be changed daily in most cases, and removal of half empty shampoo and soap is different than our expectations. We would have used it all up and requested more if needed. Perhaps, we are not used to the French way of hotel service, being from North America. Very wonderful place, and will come again if in Montpellier

A+ Service & Location

The 5* staff at Le Mistral made all the difference during my 2nt stay. The red-haired daytime guy was a riot & deserves a big shout-out while Titouan saved me from some snafus during my last night. If French is not your thing, rest assured that both speak English. The cleaning lady was also very sweet & seems to clean all the rooms by herself!
Le Mistral's central location means a 5min walk up the street to Pl. de la Comedie. A surprisingly wide range of cuisines/restaurants, bars, boutiques, tourist info centre, sex shops, Monoprix/shopping centre, laundromats, tram, Gare St-Roch, and all the tourist sites are within walking distance. MP is a beautiful city so there is lots to see!
I had a comfy double room facing other peoples' windows w/a good-sized shower & weird pillow but I managed to sleep well. The room gets muggy esp after a shower but there is AC. There was also ample surface & storage space and more electrical sockets in all the right places than one could ever dream of (a rarity).
I did not have breakfast here but the dining room & facilities were very clean & well-maintained. The elevator is phone-booth tiny so be prepared to hold in your stomach & don't even think about getting in with friends - one suitcase MAX! Their luggage storage room is also secure unlike some hotels where it's one big free-for-all open to the public.
MP hotels are not cheap & I was not expecting too much from Le Mistral (no offense!) but they far exceeded my expectations!

No place to park, arrived in the evening and the area didn’t look too attractive to walk with my luggage, after driving around in circles and not finding place, ended finding another hotel, loosing the money that I already paid at the Mistral. Hotel might be good, but if there is not place to park in a busy street, then is not good.

Great central location

Central location, easy walk to the train and tram stations and to the Centre Historique where the tourist office is located and plenty of little restaurants in the cool little streets and squares - very French! The hotel itself is comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the bed got a bit uncomfortable after a couple of days and a little fridge in the room would have been helpful. Minor in the bigger scheme of things!

Room was a bit shabby but was not expensive so Ok. Breakfast was basic. Free wifi was super slow. Would not normally mind but i spotted the dude a reception playing World of Warcraft on max settings so that changes things.

Hotel itself is in a great central location though. Smallest elevator ever!

Great Central Location but a little Noisy!

Unfortunately the hotel was located on a very noisy street, and at weekends cars and motorbikes with their very loud engines and music sped up the street at all hours. The hotel is also close to rail tracks so trains pass by regularly. If you don't mind noise, then this is the only downside to the location as its central location to the heart of the city is superb.

This hotel is close to the train station and the nightlife in Montpellier. Nice room. Clean and a good bed. Clean bathroom and lots of hot water. Wifi in the room was very intermittent. A good standard for a 2 star hotel in Europe. But, because of where it is, it is was noisy in our room on the second floor, facing the street. This is not a complaint - we knew what was likely when we booked. But, the shutters are inside the windows, so not possible to close the shutters and leave the wincows open for some ventilation on a couple of hot July nights. The balcony is shared with other rooms. Poor security. The in-room fan struggled to cool the room and then the management turned the fan off remotely at about 22.30. We have stayed in better 2 star hotels in Europe and paid less. Breakfast is expensive.

Nice, convenient hotel...but not for hot days!

This hotel is very close to the train station as well as to the Place de la Comedie. It's a good place to stay except on hot summer nights, because the rooms have no AC. The room fan on the highest setting helped some. Opening the bedroom windows was not an option because the neighborhood can be quite noisy, at least on the weekend night we were there.

The hotel proved the perfect location for our four night stay in Montpellier. It is located just a few minutes walk from the Place De La Comedie, Montpellier's pulsating centre. We found it easy to navigate the area either on foot or through the excellent tram service. The hot weather really shapes the lifestyle which means that people watching in and around the main square is often the order of the day and most days! We also took a tour of historical Montpellier which was both interesting and insightful, although you can see most of the key sights by mapping out your route using tram stops.

Situated in a great area halfway between the train station and the Place de la Comedie, this little hotel is perfect for a one or two night stay, The staff are very helpful and speak English. Typical of a French two-star hotel, the rooms are small and the bathroom minute, but all very clean and the bed comfortable. The big draw-back was no AC only a fan so it was hot for sleeping in June.

It was just fine. Just a little disappointed by the fact that I was quoted 90.00Euros and presented with an invoice of 125.00Euros. The rates posted also shows 90.00Euros and I was told that the surcharge was due to the fact that I had booked through hotels.com. But your confirmation showed 90.00 as well... Not a huge difference, more the principle.

Hotel is very convenient to train station..nice to be able to walk to station instead of taking taxi or other public transportation, especially since we took a day trip to Carcassonne via train. Also, quick walk to main town center. Quiet and clean hotel. Bathroom is small, but to be expected at this price. No blowdryer, so bring your own.

Central Montpellier hotel with friendly staff

Excellent little hotel with really friendly, helpful staff. Our room even had paperbacks (French ad English) on a shelf, a nice touch. Didn't have breakfast, which was a bit steep at 10 euros, but plenty of cafes nearby serving it at half that price.

unexpectedly good overnight stay

We were not expecting much after looking at reviews of hotels near the station in Montpelier, but were pleasantly surprised by the Mistral.
We wanted somewhere we could walk to with luggage from the TGV station and where we could walk to the centre easily. It fulfilled these requirements.
In addition we found our room clean, reasonably sized and well appointed. We did have one of the superior rooms, no 1 on the ground floor. Not sure about the cheaper ones.
Breakfact was usual French fare, but reasonably priced.
Staff friendly and helpful which is not always the case in France.
No air conditioning and if you have problems sleeping, leaving the windows open does let in the noise of occasional traffic (area is almost car free), but we slept fine.
Excellent value for money for a city centre hotel for a short sightseeing visit.

Hotel is placed conveniently close to the main square (Comedie), St Roch railway station, Polygone mall and the old town.

The room I stayed in had a wonderful decor, \"Parisian apartment\" style with a balcony. This was brilliant for the price and much more interesting than bland clone chain hotels.

I had a very pleasant here. For a two-star hotel - which I chose for the price and the location - it was comfortably appointed, I had a rather spacious room, comfortable shower, very small balcony, and reliable Wifi. For the price, I would happily stay here again and recommend it to friends.

We booked this quite last minute for one night and were really pleased. It was significantly cheaper than most of the other hotels in Montpellier, and really close to the train station but not so close that you could hear all of the traffic and trains going by. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the train station with a heavy bag. The room was clean and the bathroom very small but functional. The bed was comfortable. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and the breakfast was good (€10 per person payable the evening before). It took minutes to walk to Montpellier city centre and it seemed like quite a safe area. Free wifi and maps of the city provided.

Très bien placé avec une réception très sympatique, on était à 4 dans une chambre pendant 6 nuits, on avait peur avant d'arriver d'être à l'étroit mais au final ça allait très bien, on était aussi plutôt à l'extérieur pour profiter de la plage et la ville du coup on n'a pas eu de problème. Par contre il ne faut pas essayé d'aller en voiture devant l'hôtel, meilleur temps de se parquer au parking Triangle.

L’essentiel y est

Une literie satisfaisante, une douche chaude avec pression, un hôtel plutôt bien situé, une bagagerie à disposition et un tarif abordable… tout cela est l’essentiel et l’hôtel l’offre.

Après, ce n’est pas du haut standing et la chambre que j’ai occupée méritait très clairement un coup de neuf.
Tout dépend donc ce que vous cherchez.

Beau séjour. L’hôtel est bien sympa.

Très bonne réception, très agréable. La chambre double confort est agréable, bien isolée phoniquement, assez grande et bien équipée.
La salle de bain un peu petite. L’eau pas assez chaude.
Beau rapport qualité prix.

Déception TOTALE!

A fuir vraiment!! En 2024, cet hôtelier préfère vous laissez dormir dans la rue que de vous donner l’accès à l’hôtel après Minuit!!
Faut le vivre pour le croire… chambre réservée et payée mais le réceptionniste a refusé par téléphone de m’accueillir alors que j’appelais pour dire que j’arriverai juste après Minuit! Aucune solution de remboursement ou de proposition autres. J’ai dormi dans ma voiture.
Voilà je n’en reviens toujours pas, l’homme va sur la lune mais on ne peut pas accéder à une chambre d hôtel dans une grande ville comme Montpellier après Minuit en 2024!

De gäster som sagt att boendet är 10 av 10 måste vara ”mutade”. Hotellet är slitet. Visst är det billigt och kanske är det vad du får för den kostnaden. Läget är ok, nära stationen. Montpellier är en trevlig stad med många bra restauranger.
