Novotel should take note that I would havw rates this hotel a 2 star, but the wonderul staff were so nice and so helpful that I am adding an extra star for them.
The aircon in this hotel is so poor, even in the common areas you feel sticky. But beware room 625

Fun, comfy but desperately needs AC improvements

We stayed here after an Airbnb apartment issue before heading to another place. We kind of envisioned it as a vacation from our vacation. Great little kitchen option. Nice bathroom, comfy bed. Pool was so fun for our kiddo and great but expensive breakfast. Biggest issue was AC was hardly functional during a heat wave. They gave us a couple of fans, but it wasn't ideal. They sent someone who also works at the bar to take a look. It was never fixed during our 4 day stay. One employee actually said \"the lobby is hot too (it was), we all have to deal with it.\" The difference being I'm paying to stay there... One employee just completely gaslit me about how hot it was and that some rooms have it worse. It kept our young child up for hours extra the first night. A couple of the employees were amazing. Was also nice to have access to their lobby while waiting for later checkin at our next place. Great for a few nights, but I wouldn't do it again without an AC improvements.

Some what ok hotel but with issues

Hotel great, but the breakfast room being in a bedroom was unusual. And then two hour before checkout, and probably due to work in the hotel, electricity went out in four of our nine rooms. It never got restored. Some people got new rooms, but for me it made no sense.
Staff was somewhat helpful but not really. Then I had filled out all checkout information, rooms and names before, according to evening staff my bill would be ready. But it was not, and morning employee took forever to make the bill for all taxes and breakfast and then got it wrong by one person. Sometimes the training level of Accor hotel employees is not quite up to pair.

Smelled like an ashtray, woke up soaked in sweat.

Got a room that smelled like an ashtray! Very strange indeed, especially since the booking included a 2 year old. We had to ask the receptionist for a new room, an got one that only got an old kind of smell. Founs out during the night that the mattress on the bed had this kind of air tight safety cover (maybe for kids wetting the bed, but this was the main double bed?) that resulted in waking up soaked in sweat as it did not breathe at all (combined with a almost non working AC.

Friendly, efficient & responsive staff, very good breakfast buffet, clean spacious room. We stayed in a ground floor suite with accessible roll-in shower. We were very pleased with the accessibility features — although the shower could use a small shelf for shampoo under the water controls, and 1 or 2 grab-bars placed so that a seated person could use them. Staff had to buzz us in & out through the parking area bc front entrance does not have handicap accessibility but that was not a problem. Excellent location close to the city center on one side & wooded river banks on the other, close to city trams as well as the airport bus stop. Lobby lounge is pleasant to hang out in.

We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean and the staff warm, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and cleaned on a daily basis with a microwave and kettle (although worth bearing in mind there is no crockery/bowls etc provided.) My kids loved using the swimming pool, well maintained and clean. The location was ideal, a short walk from the centre of town or a few minutes walk from a tram stop. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Great stay - the Airport Bus stops across the street from the hotel which is fantastic, this really should be advertised more. Room was very good, had a separate bedroom and a sitting room area with couch bed, kitchenette with fridge and microwave. Wi-Fi was fast and worked well. Price was reasonable also.

Value for money was ok but the hotel is looking a little old and tired compared to many of the other European Accor hotels I have stayed in. Minor annoyances: Access card key consistently did not work in the lifts and staff had to use their master card to give me access... not satisfactory. Bath/shower floor very slippery. Quiet location and very roomy suite made for a comfortable stay.

A nice budget hotel in Montpellier, with a great breakfast buffet, a pool and nice rooms. My only grudge was that when my bags were delayed by the airline for 2 days, my request to call them to get info and assist with delivery to the hotel, the manager refused to do so \"cause there is a surcharge for the telephone number\" - that surcharge turned out to be 10 cents per minute - hardly a good excuse to not help a stranded customer.

Last minute booking. Staf were amazing. We booked standard room and they upgraded to a lovely suite with lounge and small basic kitchen area with fridge and microwave etc. great oarking and worth the extra as it is very secure. Easy 5 min walk along river to group of restaurants and tram stop 5 min walk and few minutes ride in place de comedie. Wander around and walk the back streets, very safe, very noisy, very friendly. Beautiful boutique shops and zillions of places to eat and drink.

Affordable, easily accessible, centrally located!

Novotel Suites Montpellier is extremely easy to access when coming into the city from the East. Parking was easy, and proximity to the city's trolley system was excellent. Try to arrive before 6PM when the city's free parking begins and finding parking becomes more difficult. The hotel staff is very kind and offer suggestions on transportation options and local things to do. The suite for our family was spacious and very comfortable, with a separate bedroom for the adults. We loved this hotel.

The major down of the hotel was bed which was very soft and thus not comfortable! Also no amenities in bathroom beside the soap!! This is really cheap for a 4 star hotel!
The aircon which was so needed because it was hot in montpellier worked great in the living room but did not seem to reach the bedroom so it was really hot at night!!

Major problem with security. We left the 'do not disturb' sign on, and came back and found someone had been in. We tried to complain via the hotel telephone. The receptionist did ring the room cleaner, who said it was a mistake, but appeared nonchalant and not very interested. When my son tried to explain why it was important to us at the time (on route traveling, not unpacked and no need of sheet change) she just raised her hand and said it was just a mistake. We felt that there was a lack of committed customer service. On eventually getting to speak to the Manager, she did appear to understand and did apologise.

Nice hotel close to Place de Comedie

Checked in and found out they had upgraded our suite which was unexpected and appreciated (it was actually our honeymoon). Room was very big and comfortable. Furnishings were a bit IKEA like but I found the bed very comfortable and TV great (found some English channels at night). Good location close to the downtown square where all the action and great old buildings are.we felt safe walking at night.

Stayed in one of the suites which was a very good size. Nicely fitted out with modern bathroom. Kitchenette somewhat limited as only microwave, fridge and kettle. Nothing else, so no plates, cutlery, etc.
Couple of minutes to the tram or 20 minutes walk to the centre. Good wifi although you need to log back in from time to time.

Loved our stay here, room was 1 bedroom and lounge and small kitchenette, overlooked the pool. Clean and comfortable, although the bed was a bit hard for me!! Close to the tram which took you all over the city. Good neighbourhood !only stayed one night but Wished we had stayed longer. Breakfast was only ok for us as it was a continental breakfast only.

A stopover before flight back to England, but it was more enjoyable than that. Montpellier is a much more interesting and enjoyable city than expected and the hotel reception staff were both friendly and helpful in making our stay more than expected. The hotel decor is not to everyone's taste but the space available in our room and the facilities were exceptional.

Great location if you have a car to access beaches (on the main road out of Montpellier) and 10-15 mins walk to old town. The rooms are clean and spacious. The pool is a big plunge pool rather than a swimming pool but is clean even if nowhere near enough loungers.

The service is disappointing in that it seems to be run for the convenience of the staff rather than the clients in my experience e.g. male members of staff more interested in spending 10 mins explaining where young pretty clients should visit rather than resetting door key for our kids. When fridge didnt work response limited to \"we will let the technician know tomorrow\".....when I explained in both French and English (I am fluent speaker with degree in French) that I had to leave at short notice to attend my fathers funeral no empathy or acknowledgement shown.

When I asked for a 30 min later check out if I handed back one of the rooms earlier i.e. 12.30 instead of 12.00 I was told in no uncertain terms \"no\"....very inflexible and meant it would have worked against them as we kept both rooms until 12.00 so It came across as a very non empathetic experience. We paid £61 per night in late July so no complaints really but great hotel let down by staff and lack of service culture.

The hotel was within a few minutes' walk of the terminus for the airport shuttle bus. But as your instructions omitted to mention anything about how to find the hotel, we set off on a tram and then spent nearly an hour traipsing around in the blazing heat, being misdirected by several people who seemed not to have heard of the hotel before we reached our destination. Some simple instructions from you would have been welcome.

Second point: in the room there was a kettle and one each of various kinds of tea. There were two of us; surely two bags of each kind could have been afforded?

A VERY LARGE SUITE

Montpellier is not a fun place to drive in so we wanted an hotel that was easy to get to and that had parking. This hotel is easy to find and get to if coming from the south. There is car parking underground in the hotel's garage. There is not much in the neighbourhood but it is only a 15 minute walk into the heart of the city or a 7 minute tram ride (very cheap). The tram stops across the (busy) road. The suite was huge and equipped with a kitchenette but no plates or utensils. The décor is minimalist. There is a safe, air-con, kettle, fridge, microwave and nice products in the bathroom. There is a small pool but no changing rooms. The staff were helpful but had limited English skills so some French will help you. Breakfast was good but not outstanding. Anything that ran out was promptly replaced but the choice was limited, especially cereals. We selected this over several other \"chain\" hotels and rate it excellent value for money because an ordinary room in other hotels would have cost us more.

We had a glitch in our travel plans and had to break from our original plan staying a total of three nights, but leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Monday for one more nights stay. At the time of check-in the receptionist was made aware of our change and put a note in the computer to alert management. The second night I checked with someone who said our booking was unchangeqble and we would be out our prepaid hotel night. The room we initially stayed in was nice, the day we had to leave the hotel manager was again asked if we could do something. After I checked out and asked if I could make a return reservation, she informed us of the note on our account when we checked in and said she would make it work for no additional charge. When we returned on Monday she upgraded our room for the night and we had a wonderful stay especially in light of me feeling ill. The hotel is definitely on my nicer than usual list. The under hotel parking made us feel our rental car was secure as well.

Booked for 4 of us for a family visit (2 couple). However, was unable to travel due to my wife falling sick. I booked a non refundable option due to which I had to pay the penalty of full payment. However, the hotel staff was kind enough to sort it out and cancel one room without penalty. I really appreciate the gesture and goodwill. My family enjoyed their stay and would recommend to anyone. However, in general, do not book non refundable option anytime in Hotels.com. Some hotels are very rude and will leave a very bitter experience.

Comfortable, good location for the airport shuttle

Be aware there are standard and suite rooms with different facilities. The hotel description makes it look like all rooms have room safe boxes and tea / coffee facilities. I booked a standard room and was disappointed there was no safe place for passport and cash. The standard room itself was clean and functional if small. I'd go for a suite on future visits because of the full facilities as listed and the extra size: seating area, kitchen area, separate bedroom.
Breakfast is €15 for a standard continental buffet. The alternative is a 15 minute walk into town for a cheaper breakfast in a cafe in the main square. The tiny breakfast tray the hotel gives you does not make a good impression and looks like an attempt to limit what you eat!

Great location but take your own bowl!

Very handy for centre of the town and the olympic pool. Ample space inside the room and well laid out. Kitchen area good and hospitality tray well stocked each day. Only down-side was lack of crockery and cutlery in the rooms. In the communal area no bowls, just very shallow plates, so eating cereal was a bit of a laugh. Also, plastic cutlery made punching holes in top of microwave meals near impossible!

Spacious room...quite and clean.

The rooms are nice and spacious...almost like a small apartment. The hotel is situated very close to Place d'etre pa and the airport shuttle bus stop. Restaurants and shops close by and a pleasant 10 minute walk to Comedie via Polygone Centre. The small hotel pool is a nice quiet place to relax. Overall the hotel is quiet..clean and pleasant enough for a short stay.

It was easy to get to and from by tram, by foot and by car. Close to Antiogone and not far from Comedie Sq. It was very stylish especially in the rooms. Staff were helpful and it was easy to self cater when we weren't eating out. Great little gym and pool.

Decent hotel, easy access to old town via tram

Location is good if you are coming by car. Underground car park is extra but not excessive and the tram stop is only 100m away. Large modern rooms with a good selection of free on demand films. Beds a bit on the hard side. This is a basic service hotel with a breakfast available, but no restaurant or room service. It's a just couple of minutes walk to the riverside restaurants.

Poolside relaxation, smooth transport connections

Chose this hotel for a brief family Easter break because of its pool and proximity to Montpellier city centre/bus stop to the airport. Friendly, efficient check-in, lovely big room, almost apartment-like. Pool great, water the perfect swimming temperature. Breakfast pricy but Novotel's kids-go-free policy makes it affordable. WiFi didn't work, neither in the room nor in the lobby, but plug-in internet worked fine. Weird soap bars in the bathroom. Overall, though, a very enjoyable stay.

Horribly hot

We stayed in a large sittingroom & bedroom suite with kettle, microwave and fridge ( no crockery or cutlery provided), which meant we could save on high cost of hotel breakfast. It was functional and bland. The bed was hard and I was allergic to the laundry detergent, waking with a swollen face and eyes each morning. The main problem was the heat. The air conditioning didn't work and it wasn't possible to regulate the central heating. We ended up switching it off and leaving the large windows wide open to keep the temperature down to a bearable level. This was in December, so I hate to think how hot the room gets in summer!
