Very mediocre place that is obviously trying to renovate but the moldy smell meets salty hot ocean is not pleasant at all! The history of the hotel is beautiful with the original tile work and arched doors in the courtyards. Could rate the restaurant a 3 at best. Wilted lettuce and tomatoes on salad and presentation of food was non existent unless you are into brown guacamole. Impossible to sleep with smell in my room.I could taste the disinfectant they sprayed before we checked in. This will be my last choice in a hotel if I return to Veracruz especially at almost $200 USD a night.

The hotel was under renovation. We were placed between 2 rooms that were being worked on. It was very dusty and triggered our allergies. It was very hot outside so we came fo a nap during the day and due to noise we were not able to nap. Reception personnel were great but not the room experience. We left a day before due to weather and room situation.

Old hotel, poor water pressure and barely warm water. Big spacious rooms but coffee maker and cheap coffee but no cream or sugar. Some staff more pleasant than others. Breakfast is decent but small. Missed the mark on towels. 1 bottle of water in room for 2 people...weird not typical HI stuff like that. Very central. Free parking.

The hotel is 400 years old and you should expect some situations. It is nice place for a overnight stay. The only complaint I have is the water pipes must be original because the water comes out rusty brown so make sure to have bottle water to brush teeth.

Hotel is lovely and very clean. We had the king room and had a lot of space. Breakfast is included and is very delicious. The waiters are so nice and all speak English. Getting a ride was easy. The front desk will all one for you.

Rooms are small and we are 4 people in the room with 2 towels, room clean but old furniture the night stands old and can't turn on, 1 of the rooms have filtrations and because we visit over the rain season was uncomfortable to have a wet bed😡definitely i will not back to this hotels, Holiday Inn are not anymore the hotels they are!

I was very happy with the cleanliness and the appearance of the hotel. The room was spacious. It includes a nice desk and chair to do work. Great location, walking distance to the Malecon. The restaurant linked to the hotel is a great place to get breakfast. There is no mini fridge. The beds were not comfortable. The parking lot is tight, not enough parking stalls for all the guests.

It’s a beautiful hotel with a grand staircase and beautiful tile everywhere. Parking was super secure and the location very close to the Zocalo was the best possible. Wonderful place to stay. The rooms are really cool with tremendously high ceilings and open beams. The hotel itself is huge with portals everywhere. It has a great feel to it.

Greetings Travelers! This is a good central location.
Walking distance to local music and Zocalo. Breakfast good. Only problem in restaurant was when I got there at 6 am had to wait til opened, then once inside, they turned on the TV loud for a wrestling match!!!! I don't think they understand that we don't want to see this trash ruining a beautiful dawn.

Oddly enough....

We have stayed here twice. A Holliday Inn doesn't conjure up a great review, but this place is Clean, Quiet, and Comfortable. The walls are so thick, you can't hear traffic. There is a modest swimming pool in the courtyard. Our favorite feature that is was three blocks from the zocalo and all the goings on so try the surrounding restaurants, too.

The hotel is a converted convent. Old style architecture that gives it a throw back feel. The central courtyard has a small pool so guests can cool off. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Guests are walking distance from the town square abd downtown activities. For the price it is a good value.

This is a beautifully-preserved historic building. That said, you have to realize that the building was constructed for another time and purpose and the rooms aren't very large. However, they are comfortable and the charm and location make up for the cozier rooms. The pool in the courtyard is a great place to cool off. The staff could not have been friendlier or more responsive. The only thing that could be improved is the water pressure and temperature in the shower. It was either very cold or too hot, and the water came out in a trickle.

The hotel is right around the corner from the city's historic attractions, (zocalo, cathedral, malecon, Cafe de la Parroquia, etc.) We felt safe walking to nearby restaurants and bars at night. I will definitely stay again the next time I am in Veracruz.

We first had a regular room so small you could not move. We switched to a suite for not too much more and it was great. We were in Veracruz during Carnival so all the squares were filled with people and very loud music going on until very late. Glad this hotel was not located in the middle of all the noise. The staff was helpful and friendly. The nearby Naval Museum is wonderful but sadly has no labels in English.

I requested a room on an upper floor and was placed in a room in front of the pool. I asked to be moved and they said they couldn't. They said the rooms were soundproofed. I was awakened both days by screaming kids in the pool. The supposed high velocity internet didn't work 2 of the 3 days, so I couldn't do work. All in all a very disaapointing stay.

This hotel is right down from the water but the location is hidden so you have to really look for it. It is not a normal Holiday Inn, it is in an old wooden building which is very nice looking once you get inside. The staff is loud at night and their voices carry up the wooden open staircase to the rooms above. I was kept up most of the night and woke up by the again the next morning before 0630. All in all is was a good stay and the food in the restaurant is very good but you have to pay to eat here, no free breakfast here.

Great hotel and location in Vera Cruz

The hotel is well located to the historic district and near the port of Vera Cruz. There is a town square located about two blocks walk from the hotel with lots of cafes to choose from around the square. The evening I spent looking around they had a band playing and people dancing in the square with lots of families around having a great time. Lots of local color!!! The hotel itself is a portion of the old Franciscan Monistary that were the Monks quarters according to the literature in the room. This facility is most definately NOT your typical Holliday Inn and that is a major plus. I had a room that faced the busy street but because of the very thick walls slept well and didn't hear a thing. The doors close quietly unlike most chain hotels here in the US. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and a few speak english but not all. I will most definately stay again when in Vera Cruz and would recommend this hotel to all.

The hotel room was ok and the hotel has a nice friendly feel about it. Definitely stay away from the restuarant though. The food is basic at best and the chance of actually get what you ordered is small. We had a team staying at the hotel, a mix of Spanish and English speakers and we all had problems. Lots of good restauants nearby though. Resolution of complaints was terrible. Some other issues with the phones (one of our team started to received calls meant for the switchboard in his room). It took 2 days to fix this.

Lovely historical building very close to Downtown area

I loved the old historical building, which was in fantastic shape. The staff, in general, didn not speak English, but were still very accomodating. I was amazed that it was within walking distance of the downtown area - like 5 minutes. It was also a plus that La Parrochia was located right next door - great for breakfast or a quick cafe leche. I have already recommended the hotel to friends and might return myself.

I picked this hotel close to downtown (centro), which help me to be close to different restaurants and historical buildings.
The hotel is clean and affordable, staff was always caring and answering my questions. Swimming pool, restaurant and computer desks, made my stay easy. Although the hotel is in the center of the city, was quiet. Love the decor.
My room was next to the pool, clean bathroom and nice and clean sheets, great bed and pillows. Love it!!!
I forgot about the free breakfast....I was not told, so I went to the restaurant, instead :(

This hotel had everything we needed. We were close enough that we could get around the city, no need for taxi's and plenty of markets to look for souvenirs. Excellent choice, so make plans to attend this hotel. Plenty of staff speak english so don't be concerned about that, our party spoke very little spanish and we made out fine. Also if you book on hotel.com it is about half the price.

Comfortable hotel, very helpful and courteous staff. Breakfast was very good with several options. Room on the second floor very spatious and comfortable. The hotel is a stonethrow from the Zocalo or main square the crafs market and the tourist port as well as landmarks and cultural institutions such as the Naval Museum.

Convenient to Centro Histsorico

This hotel is a good value -- price-wise and for its location. Large room, large bathroom, beautoful courtyard views and a swiming pool. And included buffet breakfast which is tasty and more than adequate in variety. On-site, secure car-park is also a plus. The staff is most helpful. Wireless internet service did not work in the room, but hard-wired internet service is available (complementary) in the lobby' business center area. Plus, you can walk to the main attractions in the Centro Historico, and are adjacent to the main highway to Xalapa and El Taijin. All in all, a good base for several days of tourism.

Holiday Inn VERACRUZ-CENTRO HISTORICO

Veracruz is NOT an American tourist "hot spot" but it is a good place to get away, learn some important Meso American history, dance, and eat. Do NOT leave wihout seeing the pyramids. They are worth the time and use a guide to explain the history and signficance of the ruins. The concierge connected us with [...] who was excellent tour guide, fluent in Engles & Espanol and very well-versed in the history--modern and ancient--of Veracruz. The town of Antigua is worth the drive, I would have liked to spend more time just walking around and soaking it up. To experience local cuisine done very, very well, don't miss Don Juan II. Not "nice" by any American tourist standards but definitely 5 stars for execution of local seafood recipes, clean for Mexico, and the BEST margarita in town. The beach in Veracruz is not particularly appealing for true beach people who want white sand and beautiful water but it's a fine place to sit under a palapa, drink beer, and watch the people and the waves. Whle the hotel does have a reastaurant, there are so many really excellent places to eat within walking distance we never ate in the hotel. I did check out the breakfast one morning and it was passable but I wouldn't have paid money for it--and coffee in the hotel is weak brown water so bring your own and use the inroom coffe pot. For any meal, Sanborn's is a few blocks away and the untravelled will love it, clean, lots of choices, and attached to the department store for convenience if you just hit town and want to get your bearings or if you're an American not used to Mexico's ways, Sanborns is a gentle way to get your foot in the water. Don Juan II offers a nice pancake breakfast that will fill you up for 25 pesos. Viva Rica in Boca del Rio (50 peso cab ride) is excellent and very pretty and has live salsa music on some nights, very nice for that romantic evening but on the higher end for price--we spent $30 for seafood dinner for 2 with drinks and desert...:)

Second time staying at this hotel. The staff are attentive, the location is great if you want to be near the main square (Zocala).....plenty of bars, restaurants and nightlife close by. Nice courtyard with small pool. The hotel is a converted convent which makes it's quite unique.....the bedrooms are large with very high ceilings; thick walls which keeps the noise out!

It is not such a big fancy hotel, but it is quite fine and located in a good place downtown near a lot of attractions, another benefit was that on the rate hotel was already included the breakfast buffet, which is more than a continental breakfast, To be honest this is not a new hotel but it has being kept in good shape. The hotel was located next to a great restaurant called Estancia de Boca which served awesome authentic mexican food. The hotel was built on what used to be an old house so it has a beautiful courtyard and high ceilings. The staff was very friendly and it was in a very good location.

No nos dieron el control del clima, los habían perdido y se tenía que hablar a recepción para que ellos pusieran la temperatura de la habitación. En un cuarto se goteaba el clima.
Estacionamiento insuficiente, los valet parking no querían mover los autos para que pudiera salir del estacionamiento comentando porque habian exceso de autos , lo rescatable la estructura del hotel por el sentido histórico, la alberca muy acogedora y desayuno muy bueno al igual que la atención de los meseros de 10.

El hotel esta en buenas condiciones y el personal siempre fue respetuoso y amable. El hotel esta ubicado cerca del malecon, y otras areas turisticas y restaurantes que puedes ir caminando. La habitacion y su banio limpios y funcionales. El restaurante solo sirve desayunos pero estos son variados y hay platillos calientes. El estacionamiento no es muy grande, supongo que ha de ser dificil encontrar lugar en temporada alta. No se puede estacionar en la calle. Habia una seccion del hotel en remodelacion pero no nos dio ningun problema.

El agua de la regadera escurre por el piso y se forman charcos en la habitacion, la TV pierde la señal continuamente, la puerta de entrada a la habitacion arrastra en el piso, el wi-fi se pierde cada que sales de la propiedad y tienes que abrir la secion y dar las contraseñas cada que regresas al hotel, la alberca y el gimnasio no funcionan por remodelacion, pero esto no lo mensionan cuando haces tu reserva.

El edificio es lindo, construcción con historia.
El personal amable desde que llegué, todo limpio.

No observé que tuviese elevador, por si llevo a mis padres. Se les puede complicar subir las escaleras. Gracias
