South Gap Hotel is a beautiful, newly renovated oceanfront property which offers stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and exceptional service. This property is located in the popular and lively St.

Lawrence Gap on the south coast of the island. Guests have the opportunity to experience a taste of Barbados just outside of the hotel.

“The Gap” is home to various bars, restaurants and nightclubs and is located close to shops and a major bus route. Beachfront relaxation is less than a five minute walk away if you wish to bury your toes in the sand or enjoy exhilarating water sports.

Indulge in the view from our oceanfront pool deck as you soak up the sun and enjoy cocktails blended with local rum or one of the many delicious dishes served from our poolside restaurant. Evenings on the pool deck also should not be missed – the combination of the sunset, the view and the flaming torches provide delightful ambience.

Fab views of the ocean, perfectly situated mid way on The Gap with plenty of options in walking distance to go out. This was third hotel we tried in Barbados. The other 4 star hotels were terrible. This great little place was terrific. Neat, clean, well designed set right on top of the water. No beach but lovely small pool with comfortable lounges. Great view. Food was perfect. A cozy intimate place. A fraction of the price of the bigger hotels with amenities, which we tried first. Staff welcoming and made you feel right at home. So glad to find it after the other ones we tried.

We had a very warm welcome from reception

Lovely room with a kitchenette, a balcony and the perfect sea view

The restaurant served delicious Caribbean style food and the rum punch was so good (and strong)!

The room was very clean, had everything to cook (hot plate, pans, dinnerware), make breakfast (toaster, coffee appliances). The ocean view was incredible. The Gap is a lively place at night, but in the oceanfront rooms with the bathroom door closed you can not hear the music at night, I hear this is not the case for some rooms near the street. The restaurant food was great, we ate there 4-5 times. (Thanks Alisha/Kadeem)! The bar staff (Hi Ricky, Nick, Amall, Kyle) were so nice. We even got to taste homemade Conkies from Independence Day (so good), thanks Kyle and his mom). The pool is great and there were places in Sun or shade as I prefer, and at night the sunset is beautiful and the lighting is fantastic and welcoming (well the sunrises from the room view were nice too). There a bathroom off the restaurant with shower and books from travellers. All the maintenance staff and front desk were always so polite and nice as well. The paint was spotless and all is renovated with thoughtful and modern design.

Everything about this property has been perfect. The staff Shareka at the front desk was informative and Lana from housekeeping was superb.
I would recommending staying here and if you do decide staying get the ocean view as it’s breath taking.
The upkeep of the property was great, everyday the staff cleans which I loved to see.
The location was great, especially if you are looking for dancing and food.
Thank you team and if I had to visit I would definitely stay at the South Gap again.

The hotel was in a great location. It was a 5 minute walk to Dover beach which was lovely. The rooms were clean but the twin beds were very uncomfortable. If booking here, definitely try a room with a king bed. The food was great. The drinks were also very good. The staff at the front desk and the room attendants were friendly, however, the young lady along with her male shift partner at the bar/restaurant did not leave a great impression. I believe this may have been due to her making an error on the final bill where the drinks were over charged. She became indignant when pointed out to her. Although the bill was corrected, for the rest of the stay, she avoided eye contact and it was apparent that she did not want any further interactions with us. This made going to the restaurant uncomfortable and therefore we chose to eat elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.
Non Smokers:
This hotel states they have a zero toerance for smoking in the rooms or on the balconies and if caught a $250.00 fine would be charged to the customer. This policy does not seem to be enforced. It was frustrating having someone smoking on their balcony several times throughout the night and early morning hours - the smoke reeling directly into your room when trying to enjoy the ocean breeze. Although reported to security, and the front desk on more than one occasion- the smoking continued.
Honestly, this is the main reason for a 3 star review. Otherwise, I would have rated the hotel 4 stars.

South Gap Hotel is exactly what we needed. Check in and out were efficient and all staff were generous and hospitable. Located on St Lawrence Gap meant we were close to restaurants and markets, and with easy access to beaches. The room was comfortable with all amenities and we had a most scenic view of the Caribbean Sea from our balcony. We were even treated to a bottle of red wine in celebration of our anniversary. I enjoyed my stay at south gap hotel! The staff for the most part were friendly, room was nice, grounds were pretty.

I stayed on the ground floor things to note were I could hear the people in the unit above me which was extremely loud dragging of furniture all times of the day and into the evening.

Our bathroom shower did have issues draining but that was fixed by a gentlemen in maintenance.

I liked the fact check out time was 12pm, check in time is a bit late in the afternoon if you are planning for any activities.

Overall I had a nice time there and definitely would like to be back and stay on a higher floor

This was my first time visiting Barbados, and this hotel exceeded my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and well taken care of. Shakeeta and Sharieka were especially kind and patient they went above and beyond to help me book excursions and dinner reservations, which took a lot of the stress off and allowed me to truly enjoy my birthday. Exceptional staff like them are the reason people come back. Honestly, they deserve a raise!

Jeremy (I believe that was his name) at the bar he had braids was also super friendly and added to the relaxed vibe. The pool area was the best part & gorgeous, with stunning views of the ocean. I also loved all the amenities in the room. Housekeeping did an amazing job. I'm very particular about cleanliness, and the room was spotless, smelled fresh, and the AC was perfectly cold.

I gave 4 stars for condition because the only downside was the cable channels and Wi-Fi, which were a bit spotty & cut completely out during my stay. But overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an affordable, chic hotel experience in Barbados. I’ll definitely be back & tell my family and friends to stay here!

We had a wonderful stay at the South Gap Hotel. The room was modern, spacious, with a fully stocked kitchenette (microwave and full fridge, no stove), a big comfortable bed, great bathroom, and powerful air conditioner. The views from our room were beautiful! If they can accommodate, ask for a ground floor room, it's a walkout to the pool patio and that was great.

The best part of our stay was the staff. They truly made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. I have to thank Nicholas, one of the bartender/restaurant staff, for giving us exceptional customer service and going out of his way to make sure we were always confortable and fed! He even recommended excursions that really made our trip memorable. The front desk staff was also lovey.

The only issue I experienced was that the hotel was noticeably understaffed. The housekeeping staff took quite a while to get to our room, with staff missing our room entirely one of the days we requested cleaning. We could see the 1-2 housekeeping staff were doing their best so this did not make or break our experience.

This was my third stay at the property, and I continue to be impressed. The location is excellent — with plenty to explore within walking distance — and the hotel keeps evolving. On each visit, I’ve noticed thoughtful updates; this time, I particularly liked the redesigned reception waiting area and the refreshed layout of the bar.

The rooms remain as comfortable and well-maintained as ever. It’s also one of the few hotels I’ve stayed in that offers a welcome drink and a discount at their restaurant — a small gesture that makes a big difference. The food was outstanding, with a wide range of options from local dishes to international favourites.

We stayed at South Gap for 3 days after 2 weeks in the north of the island, looking to wind down before we flew home. Having stayed at several venues in previous years, South Gap Hotel is by far the best we've found. 10 out of 10 I definitely recommend. I am a Barbados citizen by descendent and go there often. I’ve stayed at South Gap once before, but this just might be my regular hotel. The staff is amazing, Tia and Sharika, Edward and every staff member were super friendly and extremely helpful and very personable! Thanks again! The hotel is spotless. The Sister that cleaned our room was phenomenal and so down to earth, thanks again Sis. The only drawback is I so wish that I could walk from my room into the beach, but a short walk down the gap and you are at the beach. My bday was celebrated with style and grace and the bottle of wine was well appreciated..thanks again South Gap…until next time! 😘

This beautiful hotel has amazing staff and a perfect location in the heart of Gap. There are two beaches within walking distance. The lovely pool area allows you to fall asleep while listening to the waves crash against the rocks.

Had an amazing stay, i was in a corner suite on top floor, amazing view of the ocean. Room had good air con and ceilings fan. Kitchen was really nice. Pool was clean and nice. The best part were the staff, really nice and friendly

Couple minor things, toliet flush was temperamental (twice flush) sun lounges could do with replacing the cushions or slip covers. These are very minor elements to a perfect stay

This was the prettiest hotel on the street! Beautiful room, pool, deck and restaurant.
Only downside was having to walk for 15 minutes to get to a beach. Better option pay a driver to take you to Carlisle Beach. Beautiful!

When I say the staff were 5 star, that really pertained to the front desk, the room cleaning staff, the general pool cleaning staff etc. and the attitude of all of them. However, the restaurant staff are seriously on Bajan time, easily distracted by friends etc. Not totally focused on the task
I’m hand. While I would wholeheartedly happy to recommend the hotel that is an area that could use some work. Having said that, the food was good.

I took my son for his first birthday and we stayed at the south gap hotel. I was so impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and the staff being super helpful. They provided a nice crib for him as we requested and even had welcome happy birthday balloons for him. Having a toddler who crawls around putting things in his mouth having a clean spqce was super improtant to me and thats what i got with this hotel. The pool was also so perfect as there was a shallow part i could let him play at without worrying too much. Each staff member we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. Id definitely reccomend staying here. Thank you so much!!

The apartment, staff, food were fantastic.

Although situated on the busy St Lawrence Gap strip, there didn’t appear to be any noise transferred to the accommodation.

As a woman travelling solo, I felt safe.

This is a small hotel with, I believe 35 rooms, all of which had the view of the pool and the shore. The sounds of the sea lapping against the rocks at night was an absolute pleasure. My room was cleaned every day with towels etc replaced where necessary.

There were at least 2 lovely beaches within 5 mins walk. The accommodation was room only but you have everything you needed to cook for yourself if you wished, or you could go down for something to eat in their restaurant.

They were open from 7.30 for breakfast and up until 10 pm at night for lunch/snacks/drinks or evening meals.

I loved it here and will definitely be returning.

Thank you all for making my stay a memorable one.
