My husband and I just returned from an 7-day stay at the Accra, and we both thought it was a 3 star hotel on a 5 star beach.

The good:
—Location: convenient to so much
—The beach: lovely
—Cleanliness: the hotel is clean
—Concierge/security desk was helpful and friendly

The bad:
—Our shower didn’t work properly (water trickled out). It took 4 days of going to the front desk to ask someone to look at it in the morning, then asking if someone had looked at it in the afternoon, before we were offered a different room with a working shower.
—Related, some of the front desk staff was defensive and rude one of those times. Just short of accusing me of lying (literally said “we have video.” Of my shower working? Just a super weird thing to say when I was trying to be as pleasant as possible dealing with this exasperating issue).
—the hotel is old and could use updating (see shower above). In our new room, some of the outlets did not work, and one was installed in a way that you couldn’t plug anything in.
—The walls are thin. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing (including snoring).

Overall, I would caution against staying here. It presents nicely, but the reality is 4-stars is very generous. I would not return.

The room was fine, clean etc. we did have an issue with the door lock, it wouldn’t unlock, but fortunately the hotel staff came to the rescue and repaired the door lock. The features were fine and we had no complaints. This is my favorite Barbados hotel, and when I return next time the Accra will be my first choice.

We were facing the parking lot, which was fine. Should have book ocean view. Staff was very helpful, kind and wished us good morning or good evening depending of the time of day. I will recommend this place. We also liked the fact that there was a food court/boutiques on the other side of the street. Thank you again.

Large fan placed in middle of room. Day two we were able to get room changed and much improved. Day 3 pool closed entire day for repair. Overall staff not very friendly. We will not be returning. Our first Expedia stay ever that was a real disappointment

If you are ok with no presure in shower, room OK walked out of hotel to get coffee evey morning. Food disgusting, over priced. Wifi horrible. cleaning staff amazing people. Met two great bar staff the balance of staff rude and overall experience with Sandbar staff and the GM was the worst experince of hospitality ever. Most shocking comment about us i have ever experienced. I am not a \" Rude racist American\" As I was informed by manager! Ever day we heard and had conversations with other who also had norhing but complaints. We love Barbados we will return to the island but NEVER to any Abidah hotel and in particular the Accrappa!

I reserved two ocean-view rooms with the clear expectation that at a minimum my family would be on the same floor. Instead, we were placed on different floors, creating unnecessary inconvenience and frustration. The first-floor 'ocean-view' room was a disappointment. The view was heavily obstructed by the pool and garden, offering no real visual access to the ocean. Given the price premium we paid for the scenery, the room fell short of expectations and did not provide the value promised at booking.

Loved everything about it: location next to Rockley/Accra Beach, the Southside Boardwalk with restaurants and beautiful views, the large, clean pool, very helpful staff - even brought a higher chair with arms for us to sit in at the pool. Room was large and had whatever we needed. Our only quibble was our room balcony,108, faced a wall - the pool view was off to the side. Will go back.

Our room was very good but we did not have full hot water the whole of our stay (12 nights) even though management said they were trying to fix it was a very hit and miss situation.
Also at the bar the had run out certain ingredients for cocktails.The hotel needs some money spent on it to bring it up to a good standard .

The pool was the best part of our stay. Some staff were welcoming, but for the rest of the staff, they were not very friendly or engaging with people. The food was good to terrible. The drinks were terrible. The drinks were either overly sweet, to tasted like there was no alcohol in them, to very potent. The amount charged for the a la carte options were way too much for the quality in some dishes. The shrimp gumbo, the clt sandwich and the beef burger were the 3 things I liked. The coffee in the black and gold packaging was great, but the rest of the coffee in the restaurant and the other coffee that we had in our room was terrible. On a positive note, the large pool was a great asset, so close to the beach. The beach was AMAZING! The water was fantastic! The housekeeper we had for most of our stay was great. The housekeepers were all good too. We had a mini fridge in our room to store some leftovers and a few breakfast items, which was a bonus. On our last full day at the Accra, there was a manager's reception with free drinks of all sorts, which was also nice. But other than some highlights of our stay at Accra, I would never stay there again. They are apparently a 4 star hotel, but I would say it is more like a 2.5 star hotel.

The hotel is very nice and on a beatiful easily accesible beach (Rockley Beach). The staff are very nice and helpful. However, we were on the 3rd floor and there was a problem with the water pressure.There was no hot water and not enough water to take a shower, and sometimes to even flush the toilet. We heard from several guests that this had been going on for a while. Lucky for us the water came on after 3 days of washing in the ocean.

We didn’t have hot water for most of our stay and some days no water at all. Shower curtain was too short so flooded the floor when we were able to shower. Bath fan didn’t work and one morning toilets wouldn’t flush even in the lobby very gross.Pool was very dirty and the restaurant was undesirable and over priced.

I paid for an ocean view room and they couldn’t provide me with one. They couldn’t lower my payment stating that YOU would have to adjust the price. I now have a room facing the street and listening to alive band next door:(

This hotel had no hot water. It had been out at least a week, and was not due to be back on for at least another week. We were not told until arrival at check in, so had no opportunity to rebook.
The hotel owners should not have allowed the place to be open. Guests with bookings should have been informed way ahead of check in.

The location is definitely the highlight. Being right on the beach is amazing, and the ocean views are beautiful. The beachfront access, on-site restaurants, and bar were very convenient, especially after a long day out. The hotel is also in a great area. There’s a mart, coffee spot, food options, and souvenir shops directly across the street, which made grabbing quick essentials easy. The popular Chefette is also a few steps away.

That said, the hotel feels dated. I thought it wouldn’t bother me as much but I’m just used to better accommodations. While I understand that room photos don’t always perfectly match reality, our room was clearly advertised as having a balcony, including in the photos, and it turned out to be a faux balcony, with a flush railing with no space to sit or step outside, which was disappointing. And the front desk was no help with that. Additionally, the bathroom door wouldn’t lock, which was annoying.

Overall, it’s nice enough if you plan to be out most of the day doing excursions and just need a place to sleep in a great location. However, if I return to Barbados, I would likely book one of the more updated hotels for a more comfortable stay.

From the moment we arrived at the front desk, there was this front desk woman name Rachel (she was the only white person working behind the desk) she was absolutely not friendly nor personable at all. We didn't come all the way to Barbados, paid a lot of money to stay at ACCRA Hotel to be treated like we're burdening her. I will stay somewhere else next time I come to Barbados. Also, the staff in the cafeteria are not so friendly either. My overall experience was very disappointing at ACCRA HOTEL.

Location was great - right on the beautiful clean beach.

Beach bar is nice, good cocktails.

Common areas have been updated nicely.

Spa staff are friendly and nice treatments.

Negatives:

Poor customer service - we checked in at midnight with a poorly toddler after traveling all day to get there. Our room was dirty when we go there and the beds hadn't been made. It took the receptionist and hour and a half to find us another room, which was only a pool view room vs the ocean view room that we paid for. No apologies. We complained and eventually got a bottle of wine, and 2 free lunch vouchers. Neither of which we used. When we tried to complain again, the Manager wouldn't talk to us.

Hotel rooms are outdated and poorly maintained, and waaaaay too expensive for the quality that you get. The mattresses on the beds sank in the middle and looked about 20 years old. The ocean view room only has a small US size queen bed, when the pool view rooms have a king size, which makes no sense as the ocean view are more expensive??? The hot tub on the balcony doesn't work. We only got sheets and towels for 2 people, even though there were 3 of us. It took a week to get house keeping. We kept running out of toilet paper.

Spa sauna and steam room weren't working for our spa day.

Pool is nice but not very well maintained. The grid on the edge was broken and dangerous to stand on.

Would I go back? Probably not.

Hotel was wonderful. Great beach and pool. Very nice. Breakfast is $37/person. Expensive. On Dec 25 there were no other dining options around - hotel restaurant had a great, yet expensive, Buffett. Around $90/person. Without options- we ate there. On all other days - cross the street and you have many reasonable places. Prices similar to the US.

Overall good but I purchased Ocean front and they gave me room with pool front/building front view with a partial oceanview and despite talking to multiple staff they still told me this is considered Oceanfront. The images on their website as well as Expedia do not show the Oceanfront room looking lthe way our room did. On expedia it shows a room with the Ocean right in front/directly in front of the room. No water bottles provided for the room either. Other than that the service overall was ok and location is good. A quick review - the hotel was slightly outdated as was noted in many reviews, but it was clean, everything worked and met the standard need for a vacation. The staff was pleasant but lacked some details to help, no one explained things like where to get coffee or some other basic stuff.

The beach was amazing - everything was fun and enjoyable.

A few minor changes and I would be giving this a 5 star review.

The beach was beautiful. However they did not pick up trash on the hotel grounds until the next day, so sometimes trash cans would be overflowing and there was even one day when trash was on the beach in the morning. The staff is nice and friendly however maid service leaves something to be desired. The bathrooms were not always cleaned daily with a lack of consistency of service. The food was overpriced for the quality however they did their best to accommodate dietary needs. Overall it is worth it for the beautiful beach and relaxing atmosphere but do not expect a top notch resort.

It was our 1st time in Barbados and the location of the hotel was great. Walking distance to get some food, coffee etc. The pool and the beach were fantastic!! The hotel itself needs updating. The beds are hard as rocks. Service was okay but we ended going out to dinner each night as some of the restaurants weren’t open in the hotel. It was good for the kids to swim and play. Walking to Champers was a huge plus. All in all it was okay, but the hotel definitely needs some updating as a lot of people mentioned.

The restaurant services were horrendous. All the staff are painfully slow. I went to get a cup of coffee during the breakfast services, and they charged me $6 but had no milk whatsoever! Their reason was that “the store room was locked and the person with the key had not arrived as yet.” And this was while guests were seated in the restaurant for breakfast.

The rooms were basic with coffee pods that belonged in a small machine and not a standard drip coffee maker, so I could not even make coffee in the room.

On Christmas night, we had the option to do the all day menu in their secondary restaurant, instead of the preset banquet menu at the main restaurant.

We waited over an hour for our food, and about halfway through the wait the server came over to ask us what we ordered. The food arrived cold. I have NEVER EVER been so disappointed in the service.

When I went to the desk to ask to speak to a manager, I was rebutted with the following “gospel to the restaurant manager, who will speak to the shift manager, and only if that manager feels it is necessary will your issue be relayed to the general manager.” So son just gave up.

Local family members never recommend Accra, and neither will I. Never staying there again.

The area is pretty nice with the Quayside mall right opposite. Transportation is also easy and frequent from this area. The pool is great and the beach is nice with very easy access.
On the downside there were a couple of big issues we reported in the room (a leak in the bathroom and a broken cabinet door in the room) which were not fixed prior to us leaving, even though we were told someone would come to fix. The bathroom leak caused a lot of inconvenience.
It’s an older property and it has a lot of character as they’ve maintained the look from the outside. But I believe it could do other some work on the inside.

A beautiful hotel, very clean and updated room. Staff are very polite and very helpful. Amazing view of the beach from my hotel room. Well kept property. Close to restaurants and shopping. I did not give 5 stars as the location of my room (above the lobby) was very noisy with talking, laughter and slamming of doors (light sleeper). Not sure if housekeeping is located on the same floor, hence, the noise. But I would recommend Accra and stay there again, just a different room on maybe a higher level. I did not do breakfast as there are places directly across from the hotel to eat.

I have been coming here for the past 15 years and unfortunately, year after year, the rooms are just very dated. The staff is helpful, the lobby is nice, but the rooms are dated and smelly. The beach is great, the service at the restaurant is not (this is not atypical from the whole island though), but for Barbados, the price of the hotel is not bad.

For a 4 star rated hotel the rooms felt more like 2 star or 3 star. I did not like how they attempted to remedy the leaky toilet tank in the bathroom. The room had a weird smell. Four staff members stood out for us. First was Mitchell in the restaurant. Cannot say enough good things about him, Very warm and welcoming, and efficient. Sara also went out her way to book a restaurant for us and followed up with an e - mail, then in person to ensure we received the information. Justin at the front desk was a huge help with advice, telling us what sites to see, restaurants in the area. He even contacted Champers restaurant to arrange seating and a birthday cake for me. Our chamber maid (I am sorry I never got her name, but we stayed in Room 319), was excellent. She was very accomodating. We were suffering from a 4 hour time change, which meant we were late risers. I know this screwed up her schedule of getting things done, but our room was always cleaned and made up when we returned,
Loved the location and the beach.

Excellent staff and hosting unfortunately the lobby bar was under renovations at the time but the beach bar was more than adequate. The beach was well kept as well as the pool area and bartenders with the bar side pool. The breakfast buffet while very diverse with a lot of choices was a bit on the pricey side. Easy walk to shopping across the street taxi stand just outside of the hotel to get a taxi anywhere on the island. Beautiful beach beautiful sunsets from this area as well.

This is a mid priced hotel and was under construction all week- rooms and lobby bar. We asked to pay for an upgraded room when we checked the in. The gentleman who checked us in couldn’t find our reservation. When he did find it he said, not so nicely, “0h, you booked through a third party”. He said he had an upgrade for a good price which we would have taken, but when he went to have it approved they turned us down. Told us to check the next day- nothing.

The room was clean, but had one dresser drawer, no real closet, a shower that flooded, broken and cruddy soap dish, no towel racks in bathroom and a missing hook from the back of the door.

The room was musty smelling and we had to ask for toilet paper twice.

The one meal we ate was the first day, breakfast, a Buffett and most of the food was awful. If you like good food this is not the place to eat.

In 7 days we never ate another meal here. The staff didn’t tell us there was a boardwalk to some restaurants, instead we walked the first two nights on the treacherous streets, until a server at a restaurant told us to use the boardwalk.

The front desk staff gives you beach towel cards and if you don’t use them they get really snooty.

The spa was the one bright spot. Excellent, friendly service.

Basically, between the poor customer service, poor room quality and mediocre food we cannot recommend this hotel. Also we are seeing increased comments about “ third-party” bookings so we’re going back to booking directly.

Accessibility to the beach and shopping areas wonderful staff the front desk greeted us with such enthusiasm. The house keeping team was the best. I will be back next summer we give them a 10 out of 10.

Stayed there for 21 days. 3 of those days there was no hot water and 2 of those days no water for the shower due to a main break. This would’ve been fine if they had informed us they were shutting the water down and what time they were going to do it. Otherwise the stay was great which is why I gave 4 stars. The location of the hotel is perfect with dining, shopping and taxi access within steps of the front door.
