Staff was nice and super friendly. Shower was pretty low water pressure and didn’t always get hot water. Kitchen was pretty good. No tv in the bedroom only the one in the living room(corridor studio) good access to Dover beach, grocery store and rebel burgers. Irie foods on site was awesome, Cake Lady coffee shop was great went every morning.

The Monteray is an old dated hotel in serious need of a renovation but it is clean and well looked after. The cleaning staff are wonderful friendly Bajan women. Ideally located…walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops, bank machine, grocery store etc. The Jamaican Irie restaurant on the property is very good. Easy access to the beach across the road or a 5 minute walk to Dover Beach.

My recent stay was perfect; all my expectations were completely met. From the moment we arrived, the hotel's staff was efficient, courteous, and incredibly helpful, (a true 'Bajan' trait I understand) making us feel right at home.

Our studio apartment was fantastic, matching the immaculate cleanliness and upkeep of the pool and surrounding gardens. It was a true pleasure to return to the effective air conditioning in the bedroom and salon after taking strolls on 'The Gap' in the scorching sun or returning from the nearby beaches. This hotel is a hidden gem, and I can't wait to return.

Kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses, cooking item but a bottle opener would have been great to have. Was a wonderful location where we could walk to great beaches, shops, restaurants, convenience store.

Excellent stay at the Monterary, it’s basic but has everything you need, the room was lovely and clean, and the cleaners came every day! All staff are so friendly. The pool is quiet but nice for a little sunbathe and swim. Location is perfect, 3 mins walk from Dover beach, supermarket, socialites bar and restaurant and rebel burger bar opposite and Kandy bar virtually next door. Great little stay second year on run, great price for this location.

Overall, we had a great time at the Monteray Hotel. Location was great and having the full kitchen and a great patio was a huge plus. We loved having the souvenir shop and the coffee shop right downstairs. The market around the corner was also grear. The couple complaints we have is that for two days the room did not receive service despite putting the sign on the door and when we called housekeeping about it, they denied the sign being there or that it was put on do not disturb. This happened towards the end of the trip and after the two consecutive days of no room cleaning service we had to call every day about housekeeping as by two or 3 PM the room was still not serviced, despite earlier in the trip it being done earlier in the day (typically by noon). We also did not have hot water for a few days. Some of the furniture in the room was also so old it was coming apart.

Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable. The room was clean and the outdoor pool / hammocks were a nice reprieve on our last day when the ocean was a bit too aggressive for my liking! Staff was able to hold our bags when we arrived early before our room was available, and they were able to accommodate late check out for us. The location was prime as well with only a short 5-minute walk to the nearest beach, bars, restaurants and the main road where you can hop onto the buses. Would stay here again!

The room was completely disgusting with human hair (including pubic hair) littered throughout. The property was very run down, albeit being in a very convenient area in the \"gap\". The staff were friendly, but were not as helpful when I asked for a refund given the state of the room, instead deferring me to expedia/hotels.com (which is not as convenient / timely). Either way, we were able to get a refund from the property so I'm grateful for that; however, I think its deceiving this property is rated \"exceptional\" with a 8+ star rating on hotels.com, that seems super inflated and not transparent with customers.

We really enjoyed the retro vibe of our second floor studio. We loved having coffee on the balcony every morning. One a couple of occasions we saw parrots in the trees. Joy, Hetty and other staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would stay again!

This was a great place to stay. It had all kitchen amenities, perfect backyard sized pool, walking distance to the beach (2 mins), 2 minute walk to Dover Marker. All staff was very kind and friendly. Great gift shop and Cake Lady Cafe attached. 3 min walk to Barry’s Surf School. So many restaurants, souvenir shops, and bars.

We had to walk about 15 mins to main road to catch a bus but we enjoyed it. 15 min drive from Pebbles Beach. Taxis always available. I would definitely stay there again!!

I enjoyed staying here, but I'll start by saying if you're looking for fancy and modern this wouldn't be for you, if you want an authentic traditional Caribbean place you will love it here.

I started in the Corridor room, I don't think enough info or pics are available on this room. It's basically like a 1 bed apartment on the ground floor on the entrance to the hotel, so it kinda feels like you're not in the hotel. There is no window in the bedroom there's windows in the living area but you can't open the curtains and let light in as it's a corridor and people are always walking past. Now this room would be fine if you're not claustrophobic and travelling as a couple.

As I felt uncomfortable there the lovely staff moved me upstairs to a studio room which I was so thankful for.

As a solo female traveller I felt very safe here and didn't feel the need to sleep with a chair up against the door. The room had a large bed, vanity table (with amazing lighting by the mirror), clean bathroom, kinda separate kitchen with a full size fridge, cooker and everything you need, TV with really good cable channels, A/C and and an absolutely huge balcony which overlooks the pool and was large enough to have a table and chairs and sun lounger.

Rooms were cleaned daily, the lady who cleaned my room was lovely and friendly and the staff in general were sooo lovely and helpful and welcoming from the moment I arrived they did their best to make sure my stay was comfortable and also security

I booked one King bed and got two twin beds, the mattress was so hard like a rock. I found bugs in my room. The TV had four channels. I changed my room the next day. Air-conditioning worked horrible. TV was so tiny. You couldn’t see it. And this one had channels, but not a smart TV. All of the furnishings needed to be updated. Only thing good was the location. The maintenance man was pathetic and needs to fix things. The toilet seems like it runs a good two minutes after flushing. Windy, the lady at the front desk was very nice. also, the rooms were very noisy because the walls were thin. You can hear the maintenance people or housekeeping when they start early in the morning waking you up. Plus all of the outside Bertas or whatever that goes on at night time.

We loved our stay. Shanice, Rhianna and everyone in reception as well as hotel staff were amazing! We enjoyed grilling several meals, and swimming in the pool. The rooms were clean and spacious! The kitchen had all we needed. This was located in a great place to walk and restaurants were close to the hotel. This was a family trip with 5 adults! Booked two one bedroom suites for my family of seven through Expedia. Two days before our trip I received an email from a rep of the hotel saying that one of our rooms had a plumbing issue and would not be available. In compensation they offered us their three bedroom, three bathroom, Almond Tree House accommodation for no extra charge. This wound up being a huge upgrade to our stay. Two people had a suite to themselves and the remaining five of us had a spacious house including a veranda where we could all congregate and relax. Staff was friendly and the area around the hotel was lively and walkable with multiple good dining options. Monteray is a great affordable option for anyone looking to stay in St. Lawrence Gap.

The Monteray had a very homey feel. All guests were friendly and considerate. Check-in and check-out was easy. Owners were helpful in terms of restaurant recommendations; getting taxis; etc.
The big bonus was the pool area, with plenty of chairs; towels; toys for children; and a covered area with BBQ grills. I enjoyed my stay at the Monteray Hotel.

Very Uncomfortable Stay

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. While the staff was friendly, the room itself was just okay—not great. The sink was somewhat dirty, and I encountered a large roach.

The room had an ironing board but no iron, so I had to go to the office to get one. When I asked for roach spray, the staff seemed surprised that there were roaches, yet they had spray readily available. To make matters worse, the first two irons I received didn’t work, and when they finally brought a functioning one, the staff member unexpectedly opened the sliding door, which caught me off guard.

The noise level at night was unbearable, with loud music making it difficult to sleep. Given that I was there for business, this made my stay even more challenging. Due to these issues, I decided to shorten my stay and leave four days early. However, I was charged a one-day cancellation fee, which I found unreasonable considering the poor experience.

Overall, I do not recommend this hotel unless you need to be in the area and don’t mind the inconveniences.

Excellent area. This hotel has everything you need, but will be even better after planned renovations to the room.
There is even a barbecue at the pool and seating in shaded areas. There is a delicious Jamaican restaurant and a bakery and coffee shop on site. And Peter’s fruit and vegetable van is parked out front daily. It is a short walk to a public beach where lounge chairs and umbrellas can be rented.

Great property, reasonably priced. Very spacious apartment, well equipped with everything that we needed, cleaned daily. Towels changed too often for my needs, beach towels available with a deposit which is great, too. The owners are very responsive and receptive, we had a small issue with our shower ar the beginning of our stay that was promptly resolved. The place is not the most modern or fancy, but for the price it absolutely ticks all the boxes and then some. The barbecue area is an added asset, we've made use of it on two occasions and it was very nice. It is in located between 3 different, spectacular beaches (all three maybe 5 minutes by foot away at most), with a coffee shop and a restaurant as well as an ATM on site, 10 minutes by foot from a bus stop, 3 minutes away from a supermarket and with plenty of restaurants nearby. Th Gap with plethora of bars and food options also in walking distance. Overall the location was just fantastic. I can also add that somehow the place attracts very like-minded people, everyone was very nice and friendly and we made a couple of friends while staying there, which doesn't happen often. Overall we would definitely come back. It could do with a bit of renovation here and there, but I think the owners are already aware of that - anyway I wouldn't hasitate to coma back and in fact like so many people we met, we might do just that next year.

Stayed in the Almond Tree House ..ot was very clean BUT very out dated. NOT what the pictures show on line . Honestly the bedrooms had numbers on the doors like a Prison cell block and their was no in house privacy from the windows at top where anyone walking by or in the hotel room could see right in. The A/C was very good. I was on a girl trip and thus was NOT what we were use to but we made it work. Was walking distance to the Gap and beach which was a plus and Taxis were always available. For the price, it Honestly wasn't worth it. I was ok, but not my taste of choice and i would not stay there again . To be in the biggest part of the hotel, paying the most it just should have looked way better than what myself and friends walked into.., a little embarrassing for me because i booked this place thinking it was really nice updated and was total opposite but we made it work,especially for the money that was spent. Made me wish we stayed in a real hotel instead. Staff was very nice. Pool was veey basic i might add ...oh and you can only change your beach towel once every 3 days which is a horrible feeling... smh . Thats it in a nut shell. Just arrived back this evening from my 4 day stay and i am COMPLETELY HAPPY TO BE HOME. Please note did not take pictures to show famiky and friends because it woukd have been to embarrassing for all of us.

The room we booked had a broken lock! Difficult to lock and open the door. It looked like it had been previously forced open and the lock was never changed! One of the reasons we booked this property was because it was supposed to have an area shuttle. There is no shuttle! We had to pay for taxi’s to take us everywhere or we had to walk long distances. That needs to be taken out of the description on Expedía! It also was supposed to come with a full breakfast. They do not provide breakfast in the mornings. Another thing that needs to be taken out of the Expedia description! The room we booked was supposed to have a pull out couch bed.. it did not. Instead when you sit on in the couch the panels at the bottom fall out and the cushion falls through. I called for someone to come fix it and they never did! The water was scolding hot on the warm setting! On a brighter note, The house keeper was a very nice woman! She did an excellent job cleaning and keeping up with the room. All while climbing three flights everyday carrying bags full of towels and linen! she was the highlight of staying there! She even gave us directions to food and activities.

Nice host, good staff. Rooms are spacious and has all necessary things that you may need to stay for a week such as refrigerator, microwave, toaster and dishes. AC is little weak for the room but if you keep the doors and windows closed then it does the job.

Washroom needs some upgrades. At the least, if toilet is upgraded then will be much better as the flush is weak.

Swimming pool is clean and maintained properly. The bbq area is recently built and looks really good.

Price is decent compared to the hotels on the beach end. You can save money by staying here instead of hotels at the beach beacuse its only 5 minutes walk to the beach from here.

Overall, the hotel is good. If feeling confused, then book it for a couple of days and change the hotel if you don’t like the experience.

The property is a budjet place and the rooms had all the amenities.Pool area and gardens were very nice and relaxing to sit and enjoy.Very close to transportation and restaurants.Balcony was getting very warm because of the draft from the AC condensor.A note this is a budjet friendly comfortable place but if you are looking for high end amenities and exquisite tastes and luxuries , this is not the place for you.They did ask for some extra charges for my stay on top of the manadotary govt taxes of 4.38 USD which i did not agree to.

Outdated apartment was assigned to me. Replacements and renovations were needed. I'm actually shocked by the 10/10 reviews because the apartment I was assigned to wasn't clean upon arrival with extremely outdated appliances and furniture to the knobs on both the bathroom, shower, and kitchen sink were dirty and rusted. The shower curtain was dirty upon arrival as well. I went to the main office and complained and they had someone come and check out the room and the woman's facial expressions and response as if it was normal for the apartment to look like that. Absolutely unexceptable. The staff attempted to clean the door knobs around all sinks, but honestly that didn't do much for the room. The only new items in the apartment were the microwave and TV. There weren't any blankets placed over the bed, instead they placed some extremely thin layer of material over the bed. Highly disappointed in this property. I spent my hard earned money to stay here and it wasn't good at all. I only stayed here for two days because my trip wasn't extended last minute and all of the places I wanted to stay at were sold out.

All the staff were very nice and helpful, particularly Barbara who showed us the way to the pharmacy! The room was cleaned every day and the pool was very nice to enjoy after a day at the beach. The pool had a good railing which made it easy to get in and out of. The 3 local beaches are within walking distance and the local buses are about a 10 min walk. Easy, casual and relaxing spot!

I stayed at this facility several times, also several of my family members and friends and our stay there was very good. The staff is excellent, very helpful and friendly. They provided prompt assistance as needed and are always willing to help with anything. The place is very clean. However, there should be air condition in all areas of the one-bedroom suite, not only the bedroom; the fan is inadequate for the hot weather.

Good choice for The Gap

Really pleased we decided to stay here. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely clean pool. Very well stocked kitchen with equipment. We had a large studio room with a balcony . It is also at the quieter end of St Lawrence Gap which suited us but near enough to walk to all the restaurants and bars. Good quiet beach just across the road where the turtles swim by.

Perfect location to get to any of the south beaches. Far enough away from the main road and noise from ZRs but close enough to walk to catch them. Towels were changed every day. We stayed in Wendy House and although they have 2 showers only 1 was big enough to comfortably use so all 4 of us had to use just the one. Some of the window slats in bedroom 2 don’t close all the way so the AC would escape easily. Overall very good experience, would definitely stay again.

As we expected, this was a “no frills” property but it was just what our family wanted. The apartment was clean, housekeeping and reception were excellent, and the location was perfect for taking in local culture in Dover in St. Lawrence Gap. The Dover Beach was really nice and the area is close to safe local transportation. There is also plenty to do in the area. We would return.

Great apartments in a perfect location if you want to be within walking distance of the Gap and the beach!
The kitchens are clean with everything you need, and the apartment was cleaned daily.
Really spacious and good flexibility, should you need to add an extra person, which suited us as a group of friends.
Lovely food at the on-site restaurant- Irie foods.
Communication from the property was superb, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Would definitely book these again!

I was charged for fees, local taxes and VAT twice. Tried to explain to the receptionist who wouldnt listen. Ended up paying to avoid further delays.
Advise to others; check what theyre asking you to pay for as expedia already includes this in.
