What a find. This is a place in the country and only 10 min from Leeds Castle. The pub atmosphere is we loving and traditional - what you would hope for and expect of a pub. Cozy, updated menu with vegan options.

I've stayed here on a number of occasions over the last decade and a bit. I've always found it to be friendly, with good beer and good food. My only reservations are that in colder months, the chalets can be a bit on the cool side despite having heaters. However, on this occasion, I was in one of the newer rooms and the bathroom was nice and warm in the morning and best of all contained a walk-in shower stall, far better than clambering over a bath tub! The pub itself has remained a decent hostelry, with a good choice of drinks. There is always a good local beer or two on tap. The food is usually very good, if a bit on the pricey side. I had calf's liver the first night which was very tasty and well presented. Breakfasts are amongst the best I have on my travels, with all contents of the plate well cooked and presented. The staff are always friendly, chatty and helpful and I will certainly continue to stay here when down in Kent. Highly recommended also for leisure as it is positioned brilliantly for Leeds Castle, Canterbury, Chatham and the Kent Weald. Problem is I'm always at work when here!

Great place to stay. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower was really powerful and could be adjusted to however hot you preferred. Food in the pub was excellent too. I've just booked to go again in a couple of weeks :-)

The pub is a lovely Olde World traditional English pub, with lovely food and a real homely atmosphere. I had pictured log fires and sofas, but it is more geared towards eating, with wooden tables and chairs (so my visions of relaxing with a book were sadly unfulfilled!) We visited on a Saturday and sat in the Dog loft for lunch, the small bites were incredibly filling, which kind of ruined our dinner plans! We were still stuffed hours later... Dinner was delicious, compliments to the chef for a visual treat which tasted amazing.
The chalet stays are perfectly servicable, spotlessly clean and amenities such as an ironing board and hairdryer. The rooms were very stylish, no personal touches like pictures but they served their purpose well. My only issues were the bed was very hard (my back was aching in the morning!) and we only had 2 TV channels but, as we were not there to watch tv, this was no big deal!
Overall, I would recomend this stay for anyone looking for lovely food, great wines, British atmosphere and some gorgeous walks nearby.

We arrived at 16.30 checkin was quick and i went to the room my husband went to make a reservation for dinner.The room was very tastefully decorated but no heating on,as it was Febuary it would have been nice to walk into a warm room.We were only able to book for 21.00 which was far too late when we had lunch at 13.00.We were not able to order our choice on the menu as they had sold out sausage and mash and fish and chips nothing special maybe defrost a few more.

This is a wonderful Kentish Inn. The log fire, the cozy seating and the food and drinks on offer make this out of the way place a secret oasis. The rooms are excellent, clean, warm and all the facilities you expect. And absolute value for money. And did I mention the food? Fantastic menu, great service and worth every penny. Fantastic place, can’t recommend it highly enough!

We love this place, but we love it for a reason, the food is amazing, the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great visit/stay and the rooms are a perfect place to crash after a few drinks.

We are regulars visitors to the Black Horse Inn. But the reason we are is because it’s such a wonderful place to come. It’s a cosy pub with a warm chilled friendly atmosphere. The staff are lovely and do their absolute best to make your visit perfect. The food is always amazing and is sourced locally with some great chef’s special dishes and the rooms are cosy, comfortable and good value.

A lovely clean fresh room. The Pub is a beautiful quaint typical English pub with beams in the ceilings and hops hung up everywhere. The room (accessed by outside paths - but every room has an umbrella for use). Room has everything you need. Tea, coffee, biscuits, soaps, shampoo etc. We took our dog and the 'dog pack' is a wonderful idea with treats, poop bag towel and cover to protect bedding (if your dog is inclined to sleep on your bed). I would happily stay here again and recommend to my friends.

'Rooms' are a selection of annexes to the main pub, and, if mine was anything to go by, well equipped, clean spacious and comfortable.

I recommend the Black Horse.
Very quiet and restful.
The main building (pub & restaurant) is quite old and interesting with multiple levels and interior structures. The Garden Area was a delightful area for a pint and dinner, service was friendly as was the check-in.
The grounds are sloped creating an inviting green impression. The beds are comfortable, the room size is adequate as is the bathroom.
It has the typical bath/shower combo with a (typical) high sided tub. As we get older, we find using that type of shower more difficult and will start avoiding them when possible. I want to stress that my comment is not meant to be negative about the Black Horse but rather those type of tubs. When the time comes to renovate, I hope they change to a walk-in shower.

Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. Pub staff also, and kindly gave my father no less than 5 different tasters of beers so he could decide what to drink! Lovely quirky interior - looks small from the outside but had lots of different small dining areas inside. Only tiny drawback was the very steep hill up from the rooms furthest away from reception. I hadn't seen it flagged on anything but that may have been because I used a third party site to book online

The greeting was great, the room size was perfect, kids beds were spot on.
The only issue was that there was an adjacent (behind our beds head) room which had some sort of generator or mechanical room that was churning out noise the whole night. It had a constant hum and every hour or so load screeching noises that basically kept my wife and me from sleeping. The kids on the other side of the room didn’t wake which I guess was a bonus.

Called in advance as we were travelling from the North East England , so not landing until after 10pm , no problems will leave door open & keys in your room , which is basically a chalet type room , needed a hotel that accommodates Dogs , as we have Two , nice dog friendly facilities, great little doggy pack when you arrive - with blankets etc great touch ! The hotel was lovely , very welcoming & the staff super helpful & nice , you can tell they all enjoy working in the inn - great breakfast & we decided to stop another night ! Food in the restaurant is high end & reasonably priced - overall I would highly recommend

Everything about our stay was excellent. It’s situated on a quiet country lane but very accessible to the M20. The chalet accommodation was immaculate, cosy and dog friendly. The inn is very characterful and quirky and the food was comparable to restaurant food with specials to suit anyone. In terms of value for money we could not ask for more. The owner, John is so friendly. It’s so well placed for an overnight stay on the way to the tunnel. We will definitely book here again. Wonderful!
