Check in was easy. The staff spoke English and was able to explain everything easily. They held our luggage until check in time. The rooms were adequate, small, but enough space to move around a little. The hotel is close to many activities and close to the train station for easy access to other areas ok Tokyo. Overall, it was a nice 3 day stay.

I recently stayed at Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro and found it to be a very convenient base for exploring Tokyo. While it’s a little removed from the more tourist-heavy areas of Shinjuku and Shibuya, it’s still incredibly well-connected, with easy access to trains, restaurants, shopping, and just about everything you might need during your stay.

The hotel itself is quiet, clean, and comfortable. However, some of the amenities were a bit underwhelming. Our room only had one electrical outlet near the bedside, so I would recommend bringing a multi-plug adapter if you have several devices to charge. The hotel provides two complimentary bottles of water per night, but any additional bottles come at an extra cost.

The breakfast buffet is convenient, but the selection and quality were fairly average. The bathrooms could also use a more modern update. During our stay, water from the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor and completely soaked the bath mat.

One positive feature is the on-site laundry facilities, which are especially helpful for longer stays.

Overall, Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro offers a clean, quiet, and convenient location with excellent access to transportation and local attractions. While it is a solid hotel, it doesn’t quite deliver the luxury experience that its branding and pricing might suggest. I’d recommend it for travelers who value location and convenience over high-end amenities.

Very convenient location near the Ikebukuro station. The JY line entrance was just a quick walk down the street and up the stairs. There was a Family Mart, Lawson, and 7-11 nearby as well. There was a coffee shop next to Family Mart that opened early that was very pleasant to relax and enjoy coffee and a breakfast pastry before heading out to the rail station. The Hotel room was very spacious for a Tokyo property. Very clean and staff were very friendly. The view from my room allowed me to see the trains and the station. The property has several eating areas, we tried the breakfast buffet which had a lot of selections and was very tasty. We also tried the bar which had a good drink selection and also food options to snack on with your drink. A life saver on property was the washer/dryer! It was humid during our stay and having the option to wash your clothes was very convenient! It allowed me to also bring half the clothes that I would need for the length that we stayed. The tv in room also tracks the timing of the washing machines so you know when they are busy as well as when your clothes are done. Check in was very easy, check out was also very easy. Since there were no additional charges, I just dropped the keycard in the return box and that was all that was needed. One of the key factors for choosing this hotel was also the direct shuttle bus to and from Haneda Airport. I should note that the fire & police station was close so sirens were heard often.

I loved the pj’s that the hotel provided so bought a pair to bring home. When I got home it was huge. I wrote to the hotel and they assured me that after several washing and drying, it would shrink. Sure enough, the pj’s are becoming a better fit for my petite frame. I was very happy for the quick response to my email.

This hotel is my favorite to stay at in Tokyo. The rooms are comfortable and good sized. The staff is incredibly friendly. It is quiet at night, and has plenty of restaurants and a conbini within just a couple minutes walk. It is also super close to the Ikebukuro metropolitan exit. The convenience can't be beat.

The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels and toiletries. It's a must pick hotel for travelers into Tokyo

First time in Japan and I feel this was a proper stay especially for the price, the high end vibes and the size of the unit considering most rooms are tiny in Tokyo.d Excellent shower, bidet, soft towels, cozy bed and spotless room. Great gym! Area is solid and easy access to the train station. I’d say book it and just get to Japan! It’s incredible and the staff were absolutely perfect!

Good location and good value for the money considering how expensive hotels are in Tokyo. Gym situation was very disappointing. It was not mentioned prior to booking that the gym had a $13 a day charge. This is very expensive considering how inexpensive food is in Tokyo. Gym is also small and not a full gym. Also worth noting while it didn’t affect me because I don’t have tattoos, if you do have tattoos you can’t enter the gym. Restaurants also close at certain times during the day or have no availability. Staff service was good and being this is close to the metro and good location makes it worth the money again considering how expensive hotels are in Tokyo.

It’s very convenient for a solo-traveler since it’s one of the airport shuttle either to haneda or narita. There was also a shuttle to the premium outlet! It has everything that you ever needed including pajamas and epsom salt for taking bath or even skincare. They also have laundry room which was very useful for my stay! And Ikebukuro is just best for otakus, it’s so easy to get to shinjuku and shibuya!

The staff were always very helpful. They were able to have our large luggage transferred to the airport 4 days ahead of our departure so we didn’t have to take it all with us to Kyoto.
Our room was quiet, clean and spacious with a beautiful view of Tokyo. All the toiletries were a bonus too!

It was a good stay. Not great but not terrible. The staff were friendly. The room was average... the bathroom had a smell to it, like sewage kind of. Not terrible enough to do anything about it. But it just felt dated and needing work. This was our last stay on our 9 day vacation. We stayed at 3 other hotels around the country and this was our least favourite.
The location was amazing though. Walkable. Right across the street from the train station.
The breakfast was great.
An overall good experience but I'd likely not rebook.

This hotel is very convenient, with easy access to transportation and several large shopping malls nearby. The pricing is much more reasonable than staying in areas like Ginza. While you may need to travel 20–30 minutes to reach some of Tokyo’s main attractions, it's a fair trade-off for the value. Although the property isn't brand new, it is well-maintained for the price. For breakfast, I found the nearby 7-Eleven, Family Mart, and Lawson to be perfectly sufficient and convenient.

I would definitely stay at The Metropolitan Hotel Ikebukuro in a heartbeat! The safety, location, amenities, service, food, nearby shopping centers, and attention to detail we received during our weeks stay was simply fantastic! The staff was just so warm and welcoming that it was hard to look for another hotel when we decided to extend our trip for an additional day, we gladly booked our extra day with them, even though there were clearly other hotels much cheaper. My teen daughter and I called this our little home away from home!✨

I’ve stayed here many times. This time I chose one of the cheapest room as I was staying as a twin. The room was beyond my expectations and great value. The room had a modern uplift, felt fresh and is a great hub to explore the rest of Tokyo with insanely quick access to the JR station via the “secret” metropolitan gate. You’ll be on your train and skip all the chaos within 3 mins of leaving the hotel. It’s such a reliable hotel and a great location.

I’ll be back again for the 4th time for sure!

Beautiful, clean, well kept, with a great assortment of dining. Excellent service from all staff. They are very attentive and you wont be waiting in the lobby for help, they'll ask what you need right away. There is a lovely tea lounge area on the second floor that I really enjoyed as well.
There is also a convenient store, excellent breakfast & dinner buffet, laundry room, gym with a pool, and many other amenities.
I felt very safe, especially with the police station directly next door. I think thats a plus.
711 is a 3 minute walk away, train station is maybe 5. Within a 5 minute walk is also many restaurants, shops, an arcade, and a mcdonalds. The wifi was fast in my room, and I really liked having a humidifier as well. They will even restock the water bottles in your rooms fridge & bathroom amenities daily.
I also really loved the pajamas they provide and will be purchasing some to take home with me.
Room service was great too! There are so many good things about this place. Highly reccomend

I really like staying at this hotel. I have pretty simple criteria: great staff, cleanliness, good water pressure. The staff is wonderful and the water pressure is great. The room was clean but the lobby areas seemed a little dusty, very noticeable in the elevator banks. The room furniture and carpeting in the halls, while clean, are very old and a little shabby and create a feeling it could be cleaner… Having said that, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. Also, it is super convenient to trains and subways. I will stay here again.
