Arrived a day earlier than planned for the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival. Luckily, a King suite was available to add to our planned 6 nights. I chose this place for location to the convention cntr, and that it might give a taste of TEXAS Hospitality. On the Frontage Rd. and freeway, it is a bit noisy, but Room 117, on the ground floor back in the corner, was probably quieter. The place is popular, so parking was always a bit tight at night with all the work trucks, but we got along. The suite room size was good for the 7 nights. The mattress was ok. Liked separate toilet/sink rooms. Our real complaint was the awful in-ceiling can lighting, instead of a more-pleasant lamp. Horrible harsh blue-white. I'm sure that no owner has this awful lighting in their own bedroom. We added our own blanket for comfort. Also, the 3 pillows were weak, as said in reviews. Bring your own. There was only one nightstand for the king bed. Larger fridge and microwave worked. We did not use room-cleaning service so we saved THEM money. The hired front desk clerk was very pleasant, exchanging our towels, giving us more toilet paper as we asked. No provided breakfast/ coffee was hard, but given our very early mornings with birding tours we probably would have missed breakfast. (We heard of other motels providing Early breakfast for all the birders.) Washer and Dryer worked, $2 in quarters for each load use. Office sells laundry soap, $2. Pool was clean, cold (cooled my feet once).

The Texas Inn in Harlingen was a delightful surprise. It was spotless and well maintained. The refrigerator was larger than most hotel refrigerators, the TV was large and the bed very comfortable. Their charge for our dogs was very reasonable and they have a large grassy area for them to walk. It was a very nice stay.

i have stayed several times through out the years. It is very clean and quiet most times. What i can’t get passed is and why i have gone to other hotels to stay is 1. The bed is hard 2. it smells musky/ mildew like there had been multiple water damages at this property. Fresh paint and Killz will only do so much to cover up damage. But because it’s affordable and we only need it to sleep and shower, it will do.

There are safety concerns, the reception is locked, they attend through a window with a speaker. I had no issues, the rooms are not modern but they are big, have all the appliances that work, and they are clean. For the price is good and location very convenient. You can park right in front of your room.

This is an old property that is currently being remodeled it is very basic and currently the lobby is not open. I felt that it was safe but for what it was actually offering it was overpriced ..also there was no coffee maker in the very dimly lit room... there was a good refrigerator, a small microwave, and an enormous tv.
The vinyl floor was clean and the bed was clean and firm. The shower was good.

Everything was going great in my 3 day stay until we saw bugs. I know it’s Texas and there’s going to be lots of insects but maybe properly seal all areas. I can see light coming around the door and those are good spots for bugs. Other than that everything was great.

We travel all over, and pretty much every spring and fall. Never had been asked to pay money to check in early. We have checked into places as much as 2 hours early, and never been asked to pay a early check in fee. We sat in the parking lot for an hour and half. Otherwise it was clean.

The person who received me in the morning, got to check how many people were entering the room and repeated many times that only 2 people in each room and if he realized that there were more, he would charge and being a room with 2 beds. Dirty rooms, dirty facilities. I never stay in that hotel again.

No breakfast, lobby closed for renovation. Walked barefoot on tile floors in room, feet turned black. Tub had residue from cleaning agent. A lot of foot and vehicle traffic and noise. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Internet was great, cable more intermittent.

It was a good experience and it was clean. The bed made so much noise with just a turn that I made and only my side of the bed. You need to get new pillows the ones there are so bulky it’s seems like there r rocks in there and they hurt the head.

Not a bad place to starve to death.

I was disappointed by the fact that they did not have
any breakfast, because of COVID when all restaurants
in Texas are not operating at 100% capacity.

There is nowhere in walking distance to get breakfast,
and I did not have a car, since the salespeople dropped
me off and picked me up.

The could have at least had some \"grab and go\" stuff,
but I think that they were just using COVID as an excuse.

At night there are a couple of places to eat across the
freeway. One has horrible Mexican food and one has
barbecue.

The second night we stopped and got food to take to the room and some bananas for breakfast.

I ended up checking out within hours of our 5 day stay when I saw that there was 2 cockroaches and one spider cohabitating in our room. The pool was closed and so was the continental breakfast which was part of tbe reason we wanted to stay there but wasn't disclosed on the site. The staff was nice and friendly though, however, in the end we opted to pay a bit more for a room that didn't have bugs.

This place is a bit of a funky sleeper. To check in you talk through a closed and screened window. The parking lot is filled with huge (mostly diesel) construction worker pickups...but the rooms are big and VERY clean and the beds are comfortable. It looks like many of the guys there are long-term residents and they are friendly and cool. Well...except for the guy who warmed up his diesel at 5 AM...for 15 MINUTES!!

All in all, yes I would recommend it to a friend but with caveats.

Overall, a good stay. Clean room, decent bed. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Only a few small not so great things: some flat and flimsy pillows, a fair amount of freeway traffic noise, and not notified beforehand that free breakfast service was completely suspended because of covid-19. That would have been helpful to know. Bring bottled water.

The bed was greasy as I had an extremely comfortable sleep, the rooms need to be updated as carpet is frayed and chair had holes in it. Cleanliness needed attention there was a big hair ball on the floor when I walked in and in the AM when I turned on the lights there were roaches on the desk and dresser.

The location is bad it is not easy to get to unless you are familiar with the area. There are no restaurants or fast food close to the inn. The advertisement show a hot tub and it has been removed. The room has no Kleenex.

Room seemed clean enough although dated and worn. Towels were especially old and dingy. Pool was okay but tiles above water line need cleaned. Jacuzzi was dirty and not suitable for use. Breakfast was a typical, minimal continental style. Staff was friendly. This was suitable for an overnight stay but I wouldn't want to stay here for an extended one.

Great location.Nice new clean bathroom Lot's of outside noise, freeway etc.. Semi truck idling for an hour outside my room. Drunk guy trying to open doors at three in the morning. Room smelled like a wet dog. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired.

Actually, the property was just fine in all aspects, except for the internet connection, which was spotty.

The room had been updated nicely with a very comfortable bed and
very large television screen on the wall.

The air conditioning worked and the lighting was good and everything was very clean.

Only the internet drove me nuts.

The bed was so hard and they only put on roll of toilet paper for 3 adults . Only gave us 2 bath towels to dry off , I did request an additional and got it but the next no 3rd towel. The hot tub did not work. The door to me was not safe . Would not stay here again and the breakfast well not impressive. Nothing like what the picture's show on line. The main throw looked like it belong to a shower curtain no comforter .Thin blankets I had to put the air at 66 degrees to feel comfortable

The location was perfect for where I needed to be in a hurry. The hotel guests were very loud. Slamming doors at 0600 and at 1200midnite. Tailgate party right outside door. Mattress and pillows were very hard. Blanket rough. Soap and hair shampoo rand less than desirable. Could not park in front or near my room.

i was traveling with friends who also stayed there and they said that THEIR beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable,too!
when i told the desk clerk about the bed at breakfast the next morning,to see if they had other rooms with better mattresses,she said that they get A LOT of complaints about the beds,but she was able to get a mattress pad that the housekeepers put on my mattress that made it better for my second night,but considering how sore i was from staying there the first night,if i hadnt already paid for the second night,which was unrefundable,we probably would have changed hotels.
the one ice machine that they had was also very small,and ran out of ice several times.

I like the way the room is laid out. When I first walked in, the room was very hot and I though the cooling was not effective enough, but they may have a system where they activate cooling when the room is booked. At any rate, it cooled off very well and I was able to adjust it to my comfort level. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced (ripped seams on sofa and desk chair), but the room was very clean and well maintained. A microwave and refrigerator/freezer unit there, as well as a good-size wall-mounted flat screen TV. The staff were friendly - interesting decor in the lobby. I took a shuttle from the airport and was without a car. There is no dining on site (other than breakfast), but there was information on restaurants nearby that offered delivery. I would definitely stay there again when in the area.
