Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing from start to finish. The self-check-in process was inconvenient and unnecessarily complicated. When I went to the front desk for assistance, the employee seemed more interested in finishing his meal than addressing my concerns.

I had to make three separate trips to the front desk because the TV remote wouldn't work. Despite their attempts, the issue was never resolved, so I wasn't able to use the TV during my stay.

To make matters worse, after taking a shower I discovered the room only had small hand towels and no full-size bath towels, which was very frustrating.

Overall, the lack of customer service and attention to basic guest needs made for a poor experience. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

This was a self serve hotel which was not what the hotel advertised themselves as. The place was clean, however a couple of lights were broken/ didn’t work, the walls were PAPER thin, you could hear stomping, talking, and tvs from all sides. Although the balcony did have a nice view the overall room was super confined and not what was advertised.

Not a great experience. When booking it does not mention there are rarely any staff on site and they aren’t in any kind of uniform. Our room had no towels upon a late night arrival and the only way to contact the staff is through messaging. Didn’t get towels dropped off until after 10am the next morning. Safe needed batteries, never got new ones despite two messages. Huge pile of dirty towels left in our hallway for over 12 hours. Just empty we apologize for the inconvenience nonsense. Views are nice and decent location but if you want any modicum of service or a 24-hour front desk look elsewhere. We certainly will.

This is not a hotel, it is advertised as a hotel but it is not. It is not staffed and the management is not responsible or accountable for the lack of cleanliness and poor customer service. I came to the place, found the room dirty and open, no staff at the lobby and a code to enter that was not even needed because I walked right in, no security on premises, nobody in the building. I decided not to stay there and left the building and sent them the pictures of the condition of the place and they still refused to issue a refund. Poor management practices.

We made a reservation and paid in full ahead of our visit. When we arrived, the room was filthy and inhabitable. We had to stay at a nearby hotel. And we were not the only guests who had this experience, almost everyone we met in the hotel had similar experience. We had filed follow-up requests, complaints and eventually a request for a full refund as the hotel was unable to accommodate us. But we have not heard back from anyone so far. Horrible hotel, run.

First off, this is a no employee hotel. You get an email with your room number and a code to access your room. The room was small but clean with no frills whatsoever, including no TV access (at least in my room). If you're looking for amenities, you should choose somewhere else.

The only good thing about the hotel was the roof top view. Multiple times I reached out to the number provided and to the property via Expedia and nothing was ever done. So let the review begin.. upon coming into my room only 1 light worked and that was by the bed. I asked them to come fix it and I think they did but now I’m thinking it was an electrical error because it came on once and then never again. The floors are filthy! I asked them to service the room and they did not. There was an almond next to the bed, a floss pick and other trash under the desk. No house keeping and if you ask house keeping for anything expect attitude. The hotel is tile flooring in the hallway and wood in the rooms so it was very loud. I had a guy outside my room at 6 am talking on the phone. You hear people slamming doors, stomping, and just talking at full volume all hours of the night. Oh and no body soap, they put hand soap in the shower. This hotel was just an overall poor let down of an experience. Just don’t do it :)

There was no one to help, even remotely during business hours. When you call, you get sent to a call center that hangs up on you mid reiteration of my check-in experience because I’m supposedly being argumentative…. Didn’t know summarizing meant arguing… if the summary sounds that bad I mean that goes to show the quality service given. Booked two rooms in January with two beds in each room. Only one room had two beds and they said there was nothing they could do. lol. This place is a joke. All the reviews must be bought, the same way their customer representatives are. I’ll be in contact with the property manager as soon as I can figure out who that is! Thanks for the worst accommodations ever for our family’s first NYC trip. As Vegas natives, this was not even bottom of the barrel service.

My husband and I recently stayed for 5 nights and there were a number of things lacking. We are in our 60’s and one the main issues was that the front elevator wasn’t working so we were told to use the employee elevator which was one story upstairs . My husband has a knee problem and wearing a brace so this caused a problem. The next day the employee elevator wasn’t working as well albeit was just for part of the 2nd day. This is a no front staff hotel and was supposed to be locked, we walked in without using the code most of the time we were there. Another issue was cannabis wafting into the room 3 of the nights. Plus someone was partying on one of the other floors with loud music a few of the nights from about 1 am until 3 am as well. There’s no one at the front so no one to talk to about it except by email.
No coffee maker in the room although the listing said there was one in the room. We requested a refund and to go elsewhere partway through our stay and at the end but we were denied. Our stay was disappointing and surprised that Expedia allows this level of incompetence within their listings without some consequences. We don’t recommend it.

probably the worst hotel i’ve ever stayed at. first access code didn’t work, and when we got to our room we heard people already inside of it. had to call the support line about 4 times until we finally got a new access code and a new room. there were numerous times i walked into the lobby and saw other people in the same situation. no idea how this place is still in business a very pathetic excuse for a hotel. thankfully only stayed 2 nights as i already paid but would not recommend to ANYONE.

The location has no staff. The hotel sends you your room number and door code prior to arrival. Overall, the property was clean. You can catch a nice view of the city on the 8th floor patio. There’s a lot of common area spaces to enjoy. There’s no parking. There is a parking garage around the corner but you have to leave your keys. The area felt safe. Overall it wasn’t worth the money but they say it’s NY.

I wouldn't know how the property is because Hotel.com and this property took our money after a flight was cancelled at 11pm, booked us a room and failed to have anyone prepare that room or tell the property we were coming. We arrived and no one was on site, we called the number posted and they first told us to \"wait\" while a room was being prepared. Then we called back 30 min later (it's after midnight with 3 screaming kids now) and they said actually they can't find anyone to make up a room so we can't stay there. NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE. Also, when we arrived the fire alarm was blaring, and someone on the block said the security guard is never there and goes out all day, not doing his job. Total scam of a place. Also, THEY HAVENT REFUNDED US. Could not be more pissed.

At the hotel there was no receptionist and when I called hotel customer service they said their are no rooms available. What is the purpose of a confirmation code if the room isn’t confirmed ?? There were 4 other people at the lobby in a similar situation as me never experienced anything like this before.

The houskeepers were nice but the rooms didnt have any blankets (was freezing) and very cheap linens, and only 1 towel. The sheets were dirty (yes blood) day 1, day 2 there were bugs on my bed and in the bathroom (yes I have photos). The room was not cleaned on day 2. The property is run down since I last was there. There is no one available to help. The picturess look cool as it was originally designed but nothing is in good condition, maintained well. Coffee bar had no supplies and the common areas are left dirty.There is no help except a man who maybe is a manager during the day - who never leaves and talks loud. Overall a really poor choice now - it was nice several years ago. Will not go back and want my money back.

The room was quite cold and there was no way to control the air conditioning temperature. The floor was dirty and unswept. There was a coffee maker but no cups and no decaf so we were unable to have coffee in the room. We were unable to find a convenient local coffee shop. The bed was comfortable. Once the noisy children in a nearby room went to bed we were able to get a good night sleep.

There was NO WIFI despite our attempts to use the log in information.

We advise you choose a different hotel.

I have no serious complaints-- but also nothing to praise. The room was clear but the degree of wear and tear (cracks in the sink, missing outlet covers, scuffs on the furniture) amounted to a certain degree of discomfort.

Additionally, I was given the run around when I reached out to the hotel to let them know I'd be checking in late, and then 2 different access codes were wrong. The phone number you call for support leads to a helpful-ish but generally disinterested employee. In all fairness they got us in, but it took multiple calls.

Nothing to discourage, but nothing to bring me back.

The hotel looks better in photos than it actually is. When I entered the room, the floors were not very clean, and there was food left in the refrigerator from previous guests. There was also no information about the Wi-Fi. When I called support, they insisted there should be a paper on the desk, but it wasn’t there.
I later received the Wi-Fi details from Expedia support, but everything else was quite disappointing. There was a pizza box in the fridge — I have no idea how long it had been there — so I couldn’t even use the refrigerator. There was also a coffee machine in the room, but no disposable cups were provided.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy my stay. Fortunately, I only had to stay there for one night.

This is an exceptionally well-run operation all the way around. Do not worry that there is no 24/7 front-desk staff. The on-site and remote helpers were just great. It's in a safe, quiet, family-friendly neighborhood that straddles the history of Astoria to the east and the up-and-coming excitement of Long Island City to the west. We *LOVED* our balcony room. The views were astounding. Furnishings are sturdy and handsome. Bed and bath linens were high quality--same for toiletries (shampoo, soap). We'll definitely seek it out on later trips.

This was a horrible stay. There is no front desk, the customer service is someone from India. The room was filthy, dust and food on the ground and bathroom. My husband and I got so sick from allergies due to this room. I had to bring cleaning supplies myself and clean the room after the customer service denied cleaning/housekeeping service. The walls are very thin. The elevator is also broken. The code situation is also unsafe, people are just walking into the lobby and hanging out there without a code. Never booking with them again.

Decently close to public transportation and quiet for the most part. Room was decently clean and bathroom was nice.
I asked about storing my bags before check-in and was told we could but when I arrived I needed a code to get in and was told that they couldn’t provide it until later. Thankfully a woman was leaving when we arrived and we were able to enter the hotel and store our bags.
The other incident we encountered happened our second night. We were sleeping peacefully and around 5:30 am we were abruptly woken up by yelling and screaming of gibberish and obscenities. Since the hotel is unstaffed, we assume someone snuck in the front door and roamed around the hotel. We felt unsafe and could not get relaxed enough to go back to sleep once the yelling ended. If they had someone on site this probably wouldn’t have happened.

This is an essentially unstaffed property. YOu get email codes for building and room access. Makes for some confusion when you arrive as that's not fully clear upon booking. The property and room is decent enough, bice and close to subways to get to Manhattan etc. But the room while clean has out of liquid soap in the shower, the internet password card in the room referenced a wifi that wasn't active, the battery on the TV remote was low and often didn't respond, and because the TV only worked with WiFi wasn't working either. The phone support number people were helpful enough. So given a few blocks away are both Marriott and Hilton options for only $50/day more, consider carefully if you're willing to give up on any real human support element for the savings.

I purchased two bed with balcony, and when I arrive to the location, I learned that the room that I had selected and paid for was not available. It was under construction, and one of them had HVAC. They also did not have Wi-Fi for the full-time that I was there which I was coming there to spend my son‘s 21st birthday. He is a college student and he did have a paper due unfortunately we had to go to walk to coffee shops in order to use Wi-Fi and had no access to television for the entire weekend. I have reached out to the property as well as hotel.com and have not received any accommodation nor refund which I was told when I arrive that I will be getting a refund I have not received any of that.
I’m very upset about my experience. The property looks very nice. Look like it could’ve been a very nice experience, but unfortunately it wasn’t and due to the customer service that I received I would not be ever booking a room here again.

TLDR version - paying reservation doesn’t guarantee a room, broken heat, no one that can help with urgent or emergent situations. It’s a self-check-in hotel, so there is no one to help in case of issues - and there were many. Another guest who arrived at the same time I did (around 10pm) had no room available for him, even though he paid for the reservation. Luckily the same did not happen to me, but still needed 30 min on the phone to get my access code. Once I got to my room, I found that the heating was not working. Mind you it was 40 degrees outside and the thermostat showed it to be 50 degrees inside my room. Again, called the help line and took another 30 minutes to get someone on the phone. Once I got someone to talk to, they tell me no one is on site that can fix it. And they have to call someone in. There are also no other rooms they can give me. I wait another 30 minutes, call them up again and it takes another 30 min to get someone on the phone. They finally tell me I will have to wait til the morning for someone to look at it. I left and booked a room at another hotel with functioning heat. Still trying to recoup the costs. Bad experience all around.

I booked a room, was charged and received an email saying I was confirmed.
Showed up to the hotel at 830 pm to check in. I called the number listed on the front door to get my room details. The person o the phone says to me, “ we don’t have any clean room for you and retreat to inform you that you can not stay here”. I was not notified about this at all..
I had to scramble to find another hotel to stay at. This will be the last time I attempt to stay there.

I would not recommend making a reservation at this property. They do not have a front desk, which would normally not be an issue. However, they did not send us our access codes to get into the building, so we were stranded without a hotel. A full day passed and we never did receive the codes. They assured us they would send the access codes soon enough, but they never actually did.

After reserving a room at another hotel at the last minute, I asked Expedia for a refund. They were able to contact the hotel, where they learned that the hotel did not have any clean rooms available, hence they did not give us the access codes. Fortunately I was able to get a refund.

I believe this hotel is incredibly mismanaged, given our experience. We had previously stayed at this property when it was owned by Marriott (under the Sonder brand), and it was a great stay. I suspect this is where the high ratings come from. However, it looks like the new ownership is incompetent and has no issue taking your money when they have no rooms for you. I recommend saving yourself the stress of having to make a last-minute reservation at another hotel by avoiding this property altogether.

This was a great, spacious room in a convenient area - close to subway & bus stops. The coded entry worked great and felt very safe. Plus, the rooftop patios offered terrific views of Manhattan.
I wished for a coffee maker and a blow dryer, but found a wonderful bagel shop down the street with friendly service and good coffee that totally made up for those minor inconveniences.

Arriving early can be a bit of a hassle because front door and room won't open with your code before check-in time @16:00 hrs.

I was given no indication that there was no staff at this hotel when I booked it. I received a message through Expedia telling me I would be sent a code to enter the building the day of our arrival. It never came. When we got there a cleaning staff person let us in but we had no code to enter a room. Another guest in the lobby pointed out a small sign on the door to call. The person on the phone emailed me the code and said I hadn’t gotten it earlier because the room wasn’t ready- this was an hour after the stated check-in time. During our four days there we encountered several other people looking bewildered about how to check it- we directed them to the phone number on the door. We needed a box of tissues during our stay but there was no one to ask. We bought some. We stayed here previously when it was Sonder and it was great but this new management needs to figure out a better system. Won’t be back.

Got to our hotel at 6:30pm. Check in is supposedly at 4pm. Put in the code to our hotel room and the room had towels on the floor. Left over food. Undone used beds. No one had cleaned from the previous guests. I had to be on hold while someone resolved the issue which wasn’t even resolved well. We were 3 and had paid for a double queen bedroom yet forced to take a “king size” room with one bed. I was with my in laws and forced to all sleep on one bed in a tiny room. We were late to our event that evening because instead of getting ready we were in the lobby waiting to be told via phone call that they’re all booked. I have stood with Sonder in Florence and Madrid and my experience was 1000 percent better than this.

The hotel did not send the access code required to enter the building or the room, so I had to call to obtain it. Additionally, the listing on Expedia indicated that the room included a bathtub, but the room I was given did not have one. The mattress was also very uncomfortable and uneven.

Due to these issues, I spent a significant amount of time on the phone with customer service. I informed them that I did not wish to stay under these conditions, so I left the hotel and booked a room at another nearby property. Despite this, the hotel refused to issue a refund.

The place was great, just like the pic. Really clean and quiet. Also, I had to book an extra night cuz my flight got canceled they were able to quickly accommodate my request to keep my same room and all even though every communication was done through the app. I was surprised on how quickly they responded.

There is no staff on site at the property . You have to call a number to talk to someone about the property , you cannot check in early at all . They’re supposed to send you a code and your room number 30 minutes to an hour before you actually can get inside , which I never got so I had to call customer service back . The rooms are small , it’s more so like mini apartments . The tub doesn’t have an actual door or anything just glass on one side so water will get on the floor . The best thing was the balcony - the view I had was ok but you have to step up and down a little high to get on/from the balcony . Then someone tried to get in my room as I was sleeping , not sure if they had the wrong room number or it was some type of overlap ? Wasn’t comfortable … the bed is low , cheap frame . Wouldn’t stay here again .

This hotel is self check in I did not see anyone at the front desk the entire 3 days we stayed there! In order to get your room code or even enter the lobby you need to call the help line and the wait is so long! There was 6 different guests with the same problem all on the phone, when they say they will send details via email they never do. Find a different hotel

Room and location was good. There is NO STAFF so if you have any issues it’s hard to solve them and there is no early check in. We had to wait 2h until 4pm to get the code to the room.

This stay was more than I could have asked for. After reading previous comments I was a little hesitant but had already booked. Upon arriving early we waited outside the building luckily for us a kind gentleman allowed us into the building. After we waited in the lobby area for approximately 30mins we were greeted by I believe his name was Michael. He checked us in and provided us our codes for the rooms. The views from the 8th floor terrace are phenomenal and worth the stay alone. For my family and I this place was perfect. Queensboro plaza is a short walk to the subway entrance and perfect location to travel anywhere you wish.

The check in and out was very simple. The hotel is clean and the room. It's self check in so make sure you get your access code via your email or check the Expedia message center for updated info. Parking is available on the street. There's stores and restaurants not too far in the area so you should be ok unless you want a specific restaurant then you will have to go a little further in long island city.

Room was nice and clean but we had water leakage all over the restroom and after addressing they didn’t take any steps rather kept arguing saying it’s not that bad and casually apologized only. My 13 months old slipped on the water and got hurt lucky it wasn’t too bad but when I mentioned it to them they told me “the water was stuck only behind the sink” which isn’t true because the time I sent them the pictures it was in the morning and we haven’t used the sink during the night so it started drying up but everytime we used the sink he water would leak underneath the sink and the whole bathroom floor would get wet. I had to keep mopping it with towel and napkin to keep it less wet, the inconvenience caused delay and interrupted our plans but no the authority wouldn’t take any issue. I feel like I should have gotten at least a refund or one night but they didn’t even want to let me checkout late even after requesting and wanted to charge a late checkout fee which is more than the per night rate. First time experienced something like that and don’t recommend anyone stay there.

The room itself was great, however, the terrace where my door was located on the 5th floor was completely unlit and pitch black after sunset. Also, the code sent to me that got me into the front door DID NOT work for my room door on either of the two days I stayed there, so I had to be on the phone with an agent helping me for 15-30 minutes each day, giving me new codes to try. This system of having no employees on site and no room keys does not function if the codes don't work!!!

Clean room. Pretty view. Everything else was not great. There is no reception or help on the spot at all. My entry code was not working and I got lucky that someone happened to be there that day. The following days, I saw several guests struggling to enter the property and had to open the door for them. Any questions to management had to be done by phone call, with no follow-up. Very incompetent/hands off managements. Housekeepers are nice but can’t do much
