Accomadation is very dated but the showers and rooms are okay to use. The atmosphere is a bit strange. I have seen others comment about the 'bitchiness' around by other guests which is quite accurate but not a reflection of the staff themselves. The accommodation is a bit more rundown than the pictures and to get a blanket and more then 1 pillow you have to pay a deposit that you get back at the end of your stay but still annoying another $30 I could of spent on my holiday and with no heater in the room you do need it also the hand dryer in bathroom didn’t work the whole time I was there and the sanitary bins had not been emptied in days. Maze backpackers did exactly what we needed, located in a pretty good spot in the CBD. Sydney is pretty massive, so you need to walk or take taxis to get anywhere fast, but a comfortable walk from the Darling Harbour area with lots of shopping around.

Mine was an overnight stay for business reasons. I knew I would not be spending much time at the property because of the business commitments so just needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. The Maze suited my convenience perfectly. I booked a private room with shared bathroom facilities, which were spotless and convenient to my room.

The property was definately convenient for me. Great location. Suitable with my budget. Near Coles (World Square) and Paddys market. The kitchen was a also a plus for me, all essential utensils were available and I was able to cook my own meals. The shared toilets and showers, however, required more frequent cleaning, as did the bed linens. Lastly, the bustling street, alive with nightlife, blaring music, revving engines, and occasional blood-curdling screams, often jolted you out of a good night's sleep.

And there's a reason it's called the maze, the labrinth of hallways to find your room and toilet are astonishing. It's just a short walk from Museum Station around 7 minutes, the place is really clean and tidy they have a billiards table tv room with a movie night on Thursdays with free pop corn and chocolates, I went during Mardi Gras and there was free glitter and makeup to get ready for the street parade, I was really impressed, I chose a single room the only negative is the mattress is a bit uncomfortable but not too bad I ended up putting the bed quilt on top as I could feel the springs in the mattress I'd definitely go here again when traveling to Sydney again

I STAYED only 1 night. The staff was friendly. My only complaint was there was no lift and i had to go to second floor. Ok for young people but i am 75.A lovely French girl carried my luggage up stairs and found my room for me. The room was small but had a clean bed, power points, alarge wall fan and hooks for clothes. The toilets were near and reasonably clean.This was a Saturday night and the room was quiet.dispite the number of people outside attending restaurants etc.

The staff were friendly and the events put on at the hostel by staff were great. The location was awesome as it was very central so walking everywhere was convenient. With it being located on a busy street, the rooms facing the street are extremely noisy, but the rooms off the Main Street were fine noise wise. My only issue was that the room I was in did not have a wifi signal in the room so I had to stay in common areas to use the wifi or use my cellular data.

Insanely dirty, looked worse than a jail cell. Why can’t you eat in the room you paid for? No airport shuttle even though it appears that way when you book. Shared bathroom even though that wasn’t communicated when I booked…I left and stayed somewhere else.
