The Hotel is in the process of renovating their rooms, mine looked a little dated but was clean comfortable and functional. I reported a problem which was quickly attended to.
Breakfast was good, like all of these places avoid the pastries, the fresh fruit, eggs any way you like and other accompaniments are good & they try to cater for all (pork dishes are seperate). The evening menu is a bit ordinary but there are plenty of other places nearby to dine.
For sightseeing the hop on hop off bus has a shuttle stop in front of the hotel.
There is a nearby train station which is walkable, it goes to the airport and is clean and safe.
The airport transfer service offered by the hotel if you have more luggage is clean, comfortable & the drivers professional.

We had to wait a long time to check in, there was a problem between Expedia and the hotel, but it was eventually resolved and we were accommodated. It was only an overnight, so didn't get to spend enough time to properly review. Lovely bed and bedding, super comfy and king-size everything! Very nice shower, complimentary toiletries, full breakfast spread, and easy access to the shops through the hotel!

Extreme Rude and poor check-in experience

Hi. The checkin experience was really poor. the lady staff agent did not greet, no even hello. was busy with another call and just waved me to a colleague who was busy, then she did my checkin, again no hello/good evening etc. really rude.

my room (room 503) had no hand soap. i needed to call housekeeping. they did not answer. i had to call reception, that took a very long time to answer the call. eventually a security team member was sent to bring me soap. this individual was very polite which i appreciated. overall the service level at checkin was extremely disappointing.

Man in business centre was too interested in watching something on the laptop . Not helpful in getting a photo of a document on Whattsapp printed . He said it’s not showing up on the printer while the ladies at reception managed to print the very same after I sent it via email like to the guy in the business centre .

Excellent, albeit my trip wasnt business related, it had a perfect desk and connectivity for WFH etc which many may find favourable. The bar staff were a little under trained and seemed to struggle with anything greater than 1 instruction or order at a time. This was a very basic and I could see how patrons may get frustrated, but they were friendly etc throughout. Will stay again.

Wonderful stay at the hotel. Very neat , secure and healthy environment. However improvement should be made on variety of breakfast food as well as fruits variety. I had to buy most of the fruits from outside e.g grapes, pears.
-The hotel is supposed to be cigarette smoking - free but l experienced smokers in my floor though l had requested smoke- free zone.
- Attention should be made to the rooms before a client comes in. My room's Safe cabinet was not working and they could not open it, l had to be changed to another room.

I stayed one night at this hotel. I chose it because I had previously stayed at Holiday Inns in the United States and they were always nice. However, though this hotel in Sandton looked good, I was displeased because the bedsheets smelled as though they were not changed. I didn't pay my money to get dirty sheets. Shame!

Disappointed, but it is still a good hotel.

I arrived at 20:00 and the hotel had no record of my booking although it was booked and paid for through Hotels.Com. The front desk staff was very helpful in trying to find a room. Unfortunately I had to settle for a room that is in desperate need for upgrading and a coat of paint. There must have been a spill of some kind as the carpet on side of the bed was soaking wet. Definitely not what I paid for. However, I stayed here before and it was the first time I had a bad experience.

The stay wasn't the best. The service was very very average. When buying drinks I asked said I would come and settle the bill after as I was in a meeting but was interrupted. They knew who I was as it was my 4th night staying there. Also I asked for late check which was agreed and when I went to confirm they said there was no rooms available. I went back again after checking online which showed half the hotel empty and they apologized. I said it was unnecessary to lie but they didn't seem to care. Will probably look elsewhere in my next visit. Wifi was also intermittent

I was really frustrated by my stay at this hotel and will never go back.
First of all, the room I was given was generally dirty, the shower had dark moulds I had to ask for a change of room to a tub.
The bed, I can't begin to explain my shock when I walked in. The linen/bed cover is old and bumpy, it seriously gave me goosebumps. Please change those. Even though the top sheet is clean. The bumps are just not good.
The front desk lady was rude to me, I did not appreciate it. Unfortunately I did not get her name. The brown throwers: they stink. Please wash every day at least.
When booking on expedia I booked bed and breakfast, upon arrival they tell me it's accommodation only: was baffled.
I would never go back to that hotel and I will not encourage anyone to.

Great Stay in a Better than Normal Holiday Inn

This is the best stay in a Holiday Inn I have experienced. When I arrived was an issue with my room, staff immediately sorted and swapped rooms, and I was extremely impressed by there desire to please, and resolve the issue. My room was spacious, clean, and modern. I will be making this my usual home when in Sandton. Special mention to Annisha, who is the best duty manager I have had in a long time.

I would like to first say I have stayed at this Holiday Inn twice before and totally loved it regardless of the construction site next door. However this visit was disappointing 1st. My sister arrived at the hotel at 11pm after a 10 hour flight from the UK, and was informed her room had been given away and she needed to look for another hotel. Note she had never been to SA and had booked her room a month ago and had called the hotel the night before to confirm a late check in. After an hour of the worst customer interaction and turning lawyer on them, they gave her a room for the night. In the morning the drama continued when she was informed that she would have to pay for breakfast regardless of the fact our bookings were B&B. Apparently Hotel.com doesn't offer breakfast for this hotel on your site. Again surprisingly since this was the third time I was booking the B&B option. I was traveling with my mother who is in her 80s and I had requested for a room with a tub for her she didn't get one. On the day we checked out, I called reception to ask for help with luggage. After waiting for 1/2 hour my 80+ mother and I had to drag our cases to the lift and to the reception desk. The young man behind the desk apologized but said they wasn’t anyone to help us. The cab driver came in to help. I will say some senior staff tried to put things right, in my opinion, I think staff morale at the Holiday Inn in Sandton is low and this has affected the quality of service

We booked on a special breakfast included promotion. We were then charged extra for breakfast (c..$18 each). There are no other eating facilities in the neighbourhood. I asked them to recheck our booking. We did not go for our second breakfast (diarrhoea) and the prospect of $18 for tea. We went to check-out at 10 am and were then told our breakfast was now included. I said we were now on they way to the airport and asked about a refund for the out of pocket expense and the \"included\" meals not received. They said they did not have time to do that but would credit points to compensate. Despite 4 calls to Holiday Inns head office and 2 unanswered emails to the hotel we have received neither points or a cash refund.

Poorly maintained - avoid at all costs

The service was poor from check-in. The hallways seemed dusty and had a weird musky smell. The room door had oil stains on it. The room was tiny and the bathroom was very small too. You literally have the shower, wash basin and toilet all next to each other - pretty gross! There was one flimsy bed sheet over the mattress, the duvet didn't have a fresh scent as they usually do. Their was dust on the lamps and counters. It was like staying in a cheap motel - we had one night. We got in and out as quick as we could. We will never stay there or recommend it.

The hotel is beautiful and the Concierge and Front Desk very friendly and helpful. We included the buffet breakfast and were not disappointed - eggs, vegetables, fruits, breads, cereals, salmon, juices. There were 3 of us so the family room with pullout sofa was perfect. An hourly shuttle to the nearby mall was perfect for evening dining. The area is very upscale and safe - a security guard watches the outdoor mall area. Wonderful restaurants to choose from. We also arranged to be picked up at the airport and were pleased with the service. I highly recommend this hotel!

A cheap Hostel with poor customer service.

The worst Holiday inn hotel l had stayed in for 4 nights. It is a 1 star HOSTEL. Room given for first night with Construction work for 24 hours beside which is noisy and the toilet and passage way lights were blinking. Requested to change the room and took up to 10.00pm the next day to change which is extremely slow after repeated enquiry. New room had missing hand/facial tissue and torn bed sheet with a big hole at the centre of the bed being used, the room has roaring/gushing sound above the false ceiling. Next morning 27th morning housekeeping, the bed sheet was not changed. On 28th morning, housekeeping change the bed sheet with another bed sheet that is torn with a hole again, this time at the side of the bed. Car parking is 40 rand per night which is expensive for in house guest though when we checked out, the parking charges were waived. No disposable slipper and cost 15 rand per pair. Not recommended at all which you can get better hotels with lower cost nearby. Nothing around this area except Mandela square shopping mall 5-10 minutes drive.

This is most likely the fanciest Holiday Inn I've ever seen. Very clean and comfortable, staff was reception, the hotel bar and the restaurant were friendly, prompt and courteous. The food at the restaurant was great - the breakfast buffet was great - fruit, bacon, sausage, baked bean, pastries, an omelette station. The room was a nice size, and had a charging station with multiple country outlets - besides the South Africa outlet, there was a North American and a European.

Nice hotel but definitely for business travelers

We stayed at this hotel for three days. The front desk staff was quite rude to us when we wanted to change rooms secondary to noise from construction on our side of the hotel. The bed was also not comfortable. We were also made to feel like our children were not welcome and they were looking for business travelers not young families. We have traveled to several Holiday Inn's and were saddened by the service we received here. Will not be returning!

A Great Hotel experience!

This was a great experience! I had a small group of 17 persons stay here in July. This hotel was Neat and clean, with a very friendly staff; and within walking distance to Mandela Square Mall, with some of the best shopping to be found in Johannesburg. The food was great. Very good shuttle service to and from the mall and the train station. I'd stay here again anyday!

Stay was good. Pricing displayed at Hotel.com and additional charges were not in line. I booked late, but according to the policy displayed on-line should have been able to cancel free of charge. This was not the case. The hotel charges almost one night cancellation charges. While the hotel was good value for money. This was not what I was looking for this time.
