Hotel closed

The hotel has been closed and boarded up for 15 months. And hotels.com do not care that we turned up with no where to stay.

Don't Book it's closed.

Hotel is closed but still taking bookings & money.
Arrived at the hotel to find the reception in darkness & unmanned. I came back 2 hrs later & still no receptionist however a workman appeared & told me that the hotel was closed. I asked for the manager & when he arrived I explained that I had 2 nights booked & paid for, he just told me to contact Hotels .Com for a refund.
Thanks for ruining my easter weekend.

Not recommended

It was too much cold in the room, heating was off. Water was dripping from the ceiling and windows. There were hair found in the duvet and tool. Wifi wasn't working. It was absolutely terrible, not recommended.

Awful property, somebody had been in and used the toilet while me and my partner were out and just not even flushed it, one of her items of clothing have gone missing from out of the room also, in a close area to the beach but on the whole the place needs closing down.

Tried in vain to contact hotel to advise late arrival ignored emails when we did eventually get through on phone apparently no English was understood which seemed pointless so we missed booking in also when we went for 2nd day of stay we were told our room had been re sold and they had no room for us. Still they did not respond to the numerous emails sent the day before

I have arrived at the hotel I have booked Expedia travel confirmation - Fri, 9 Feb. - (Itinerary # 7265487521140) The Sherwood Palm Hotel, Torquay BeachBelgrave Rd, 1, Torquay, and the hotel is closed to the public, I have paid for this booking and it has come out of my bank account and I am not able to get into the hotel they have turned me away. I am so angry, I want a refund of my £106.37 and compensation for the mistake you have make, I made this booking in September last year and no one had contacted me to say the hotel would be closed and no refund given and no one to tell me I would need to find another hotel

the room was so bad. the light was hanging off the toilet seat was loss there where holes in the wall window was smashed there was dust on wardrobe. the wardrobe door was hanging off the shelf was broken on the wardrode and bathroom shelf above the skin was hanging down the fire alarm went off at 3am for no reason partner went to see if everything wad ok and the manger was rude to her and said just it a fault in the system just go back bed will never stay here again.

Stayed for over a month whilst waiting for a house move was very well looked after by staff always kept room clean and could have fresh towels when wanted, very close to beach and free parking also a little shop next door for essentials was a bonus 👍👍👍

Fine for a pit stop, wouldn’t stay for long.

We only stayed for one night and basically slept here but nothing else. The hotel staff were friendly and kind enough. On first look, the hotel is a little older and run-down, but not terrible. The beds were comfortable, the room was cosy, but the bathroom was a bit of a shock to the system.

When we arrived, there was water all over the bathroom floor and the toilet, no mirror was on the wall above the sink. It didn’t feel particularly clean, but for a cheap rate, you get what you pay for I suppose.

It did what we needed, it was a place to rest our heads. I don’t think I would choose to stay here for a longer trip.

We opened the draw to find a empty whisky bottle I opened the draw below to find another empty whisky bottle . We pulled back the top sheet to find the bottom sheet with stains on . I went down to reception to tell them about the findings and they said sorry and replaced the sheet and took the bottles away. We asked for the wifi code only to find out we could not get wifi . After the details says wifi well not for my phone lap top or my wifes phone . In the morning we found out the shower not working cold then too hot . The bed was very old and uncomfortable. I know the room was cheap but we still should have the basics .CLEAN SHEETS TIDY ROOM AND A BED YOU CAN SLEEP ON and A SHOWER

Had the best stay here with my daughter. The owners are such a lovely couple so welcoming and friendly. My daughter always passed by for a chat. Located right near the beach and short walk into town. Free parking. Bed was the comfiest ive slept in. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay here. Thank you to the lovely couple for making mine and my daughters stay here a real memory to treasure. If we go this way again we will definately be staying here again. Thank you again

The locacion of the hotel is great, also lady who is the the owner is nice. but if something is wrong, for example, a broken TV or a leaking toilet, there is no chance that someone will fix it. there is only deception of the customer and no one will fix anything anyway. bathroom dirty and covered with mould, rooms dusty. They don't take big money but dirt is unacceptable.this hotel needs just clean up and hire more staff.

Vile! Stay away!!!

Wasn’t a pleasant stay at all! Not clean at all. Dirty cups to make cuppa. Asked for forks to eat some food and they given us dirty forks from behind a bar that looks like was closed down for some time. Wouldn’t let my dog in there! Avoid at all costs! Ceilings have all stains on them.

This property is closed. Don't book because you won't be able to get in. When I got there, two other guys were furiously trying to get access because they hadn't been able to check in the previous day and had spent the day knocking in the door trying to work out how to get their money back. Expedia organised me alternative accommodation but what a hassle!

We wasn’t expecting anything other than a clean room with basic facilities for the price we paid. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, the room was absolutely vile, quite clearly hadn’t had a good clean in months. The bed which my daughter was using you would have thought it was an air bed the way the springs collapsed when sat on. The property inside and out severely neglected. Initially booked for 2 nights but only stayed one.

We tried to check in and no one was on site. the place looked like a bomb site awful dirty curtains hanging down overall disgusting.
Finally found a builder/workman who let me in whilst he found someone for us.guess what no one on site.
The inside matched the outside what i could see so we walked off and found a different hotel to stop at l.

SHOCKING, avoid at all costs. The place is a dive and the night porter burst into my room at 1 am asking to check the toilet. Dodge as hell. Take my advice, seelp in the car, it's safer.

Fine for hen & stag do's

No-one on front desk on our arrival or departure. Bathroom needed a deep clean to remove mould, thick desk build up, dirty toilet brush with mould in the holder and dirt on the tiles. Constant buzzing from light above bed which also omitted a bright green light and lit up the room & the main light didn't work. There were 2 of us staying but only 1 set of towels and coffee for 1 person also 2 cups. We also experienced the fire alarm going off at 11.30 which the guests were downstairs before any hotel staff, there wasnt any organisation of getting people in a safe place & guests werw still standing in the lobby. On departing i personnally had a fall as there was no sign warning about step & misjudged it but again there was no one in reception & wasnt able to report it. The only plus i can give this was the sheets smelt clean. We had booked for 2 nights but couldnt face staying another night and checked out the next day

1 star hotel!

This hotel isn’t 3 star its a 1 star or lower. Budget hotels like travel lodge and premier inn are ten times better! There was no staff when we attended had to wait. The hotel is very run down no air con, towels, hand wash, soap, shampoo, daily bed making. The bed is shockingly bad springs coming out of the mattress pillows are non existent. Bulbs missing on lights. No lounge area as the ceiling has fallen apart so no access. Its a real shame as the building has potential to be great but its in dire state. The only benefit of this place is the location that is all.

Our short trip away

It was cheap and that was what the place was. There wasnt any toweks or washing things but towels were given when asked for stay were friendly and helpful. Lots of stairs no good for people with walking difficulties. Close to shops and beach which was what we wanted. Enjoyed our time there.

To be honest the hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment but our room was tidy, everything worked, the location of the hotel is first class, a short walk to shops, restaurants, the harbour and the beach, a four night stay in August, room only and free parking for just over £200.00 perfect 👍

Avoid if you can. Not very clean at all. Check in at 4.30. Far too late. Requested a bath as it's on hotels.com they have baths. Was told at 4pm we had to come back they would try. Just said NO on our return. No hairdryer and the UHT milk was lumpy it was sooo old. Staff had minimum level of customer care. Garden was full of rubbish. This hotel needs help.

Sherwood palm Hotel in Torquay. I booked through the hotels. com booking site.

I want to make a complaint regarding my stay there. On arrival the female owner let us keep our bags there until check in later on. We arrived to check in at roughly 22.45pm. On arrival a man said we can't check in they are fully booked and are going to give us a refund, I had booked and paid for 2 nights and had confirmation for the room. I had to beg for 45 mins to let us stay as we had nowhere else to go as this was paid for. Finally the man got a key and took us to a room it was messy and beds unmade but we said that's fine we need a room so will take it. Two beds were made for us. It ruined our mood for the rest of the night alot of stress.
The next day the female owner was there and I told her what happened, she apologised but nothing else came of this. I had two friends come who were booked in the same room with me and my other friend left they were fine with this as three people were paid for. I asked three times if they could make the beds and bring towels this never happened. We got back to our room in the evening with unmade beds no sheets, no towels no toilet paper. I had to ask for toilet paper. The shower was awful. They weren't around at check out the next day had to leave my key. I complained about the issues throughout visit and nothing was done to rectify this and it was an unenjoyable visit.One of the duvets were mouldy there was dust everywhere which set of my friends asthma

I paid less than £150 for a three night stay so whilst I would have liked to be in the Hilton I got exactly what I expected.

Booking says air conditioning but this is actually a fan

Booking says Wifi but only in shared areas not in room

First room had a badly broken toilet, We where moved quickly into a suitable room

This property is tired but we where happy that it was clean enough and beds comfortable.

It was value for money and we where happy to stay!

Rather pay more for comfort and safety

A very basic (obviously reflected in the price) hotel. My room (number 30) had an open window with no lock (which was on the ground floor so not safe at all given I was a single female traveller).

Outside my window was a total mess of huge weeds which was unsightly and wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to sort out.

The layout of the hotel is literally like a maze with chairs and tables blocking other areas and many corridors and badly signed.

We were also told we couldn't use the lounge area yet we saw other guests in there!

Unless you want super cheap and basic I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here

The only positive of this property is the location.

The entire place smells like a graveyard, wifi only works in reception and the TV did not work.

Despite asking the 1 member of staff we managed to find, to fix the TV, nothing was fixed.

The room was diabolical, covered in dust and filth and we deemed safer and cleaner to not shower.

It is not worth saving a penny to stay here.

The hotel staff are entirely clueless, careless & unapproachable.
