On first arrival the car park had plenty of space with a gentle slope to reception. Rang the bell to check in. All very pleasant. Guys name is John and he is as nice as they come. Checked in a went to room. All very nice again. It’s what you need on a business trip. Tv. Bed. Kettle and shower. Had a beer in the bar, good selection of tap beers. I’d missed the kitchen due to my arrival time but he offered sandwiches, pizza etc out of hours. Enjoyed a few beers in the bar and got my head down. Very comfortable bed and slept well. Breakfast was a delight, fruit and poached eggs for me but everything you could want including vegan options on the menu. Checked out and will be back. Keep doing what you do guys. AAAAA+++

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. It’s a lovely traditional hotel building (1920s shall we say?) which has been beautifully renovated and refurbished. Both the big picture and the small details are delightful. Staff service was friendly with a real sense of team and purpose. I haven’t mentioned the small outdoor pool (constant 27c) or hot tub simply because I didn’t use them this time! I can’t remember what I paid for my one-night visit but it was a bargain, and I would be very happy to return 😎

The hotel was Gr8 a week away, and the owners were Fab; nothing too much trouble. Torquay town was 8 min walk, so the location was perfect. The pool was clean and warm ( heated ), and the jacuzzi was an excellent touch food 10/10. I would recommend this little gem for your stay

Really enjoyed our stay at the Riviera Lodge Hotel. The people who owned it and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. The room was a compact double and enough for our needs. Tea and coffee and 2 bottles of water in the room. The breakfast was enjoyable. Would definitely go back to the same hotel again.

Overall this is probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Nothing was too much and we enjoyed our stay that much so, that we extended our stay for another two nights. Very clean. Breakfast was provided with a large variety to choose from. Bar area was nice, had a pool table and liked the personal touch that there were packs of cards/dominos for guests to use as well. Pool area was lovely and we used the hot tub which was great too. It was sanitised between uses. The only negative was the room we were moved to for the final night was very small compared to our previous room. They did ask if we would like to view the room and we did say no. I just felt that as the rooms were the same price, they were very different in size. The room on the last night also got very, very warm. However, we had a great stay overall and the hotel was in a desirable location also. We would definitely consider going back again!

Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was great and the pool and jacuzzi also. A good location and easy to access the harbour and town centre. The wifi in my room was pretty non existent but was advised that they are aware of this and do have boosters. The weak wifi connection seems to be the case for most venues in the Torquay area though so not really a fault of the hotel I’d suggest. I would recommend staying here and have already to my friends.

Lovely place to stay in s perfect position , pool and hot tub in the lovely garden , breakfast was nice , shower in bathroom had little pressure and could have been easier to work but overall we would stay again , hosts could not go enough for us

Just returned from a weekend stay at Rivera Lodge, we enjoyed everything about it, friendly professional owners and staff, swift and easy check in/out, very clean hotel, nice rooms, a lovely bar, seating area over looking a very well maintained heated pool and garden area contain a hot tub (although sadly never got to use them due to the English weather,), very good location a 10 min walk to beach and Torquay town, would definitely recommend and will be visiting again 👍

We came across this hotel on the Expedia site and were looking forward to a week away as we were caring for my mum 24/7 and were ready for a weeks respite with mum going into a care home during our break. We had booked 2 rooms so my daughter and partner could come with us.
Sadly on the 30 June 2019 my mum died suddenly and unexpectedly. This was the day we were to travel down and start our holiday. I informed the Hotel owners at 11.30am and explained we would not be able to come under the very sad circumstances so they could re-let the rooms.
Later I enquired about a refund expecting a gesture in the very sad circumstances. All I got was a list of excuses why no refund at all would be given. We were shocked as were Expedia! They actually made more profit out of us than usual with NO food cost, NO cleaning or linen costs. I will never book at this hotel again as the owners showed no compassion offering not a penny refund and are only interested in their own bank balance.
If you do book here you need to worry if you don’t have travel insurance. We lost over £1188!!!!

Good hotel, rooms are on the small side but well equipped. Shower was tight but worked well. Breakfast was fairly good, reasonable cereal choice, fruit choice was adequate. Cooked was variable, eggs tended to be overdone. Staff were great, nothing was too much. Hotel is up a stiff hill but about 10 minutes from the front

Was ok not what I was expecting from the reviews I read before I went the breakfast was very basic it was a wet and cold weekend and it was freezing and they never put the heating on I was in room 18 and every time I moved on the bed it creaked son not what I expected when you read the reviews when people say breakfast was great 1 rasher if bacon one small sausage a spoonful of beans even if you had only bacon and egg with mushrooms you still only had one slice of bacon has I say when you read these great reviews and it does not live up to them whether it is because it is coming to the end of the season and they are closing next week and has I say because it was a cold and wet weekend and it was freezing in the hotel

Comfortable Stay in Torquay
We had a five night break at this hotel and found it to be comfortable & friendly. Clean room with comfortable beds and a great breakfast. The hotel has a good size pool and large hot-tub. Its in a great location for the town and seafront. The hotel is family run and you do get a personal service.

Perfect location, there is a pool and a hot tub which is just wow and they can accommodate food allergies really well. I really can't fault our stay here and would not hesitate to stay there again! My husband and I visited here last year and felt the general outside cleanliness of the pool area and gardens has not been as well maintained as our previous experience.
Rooms were cleaned every day with towels changed to.
Healthy breakfast with different choices of cereal, fruit, yogurt, along with full English if desired, omelette was amazing along with the pool side snack(sandwich)we ordered one day.
The only downfall in the morning for breakfast for us was having to make your own toast, toasters were extremely slow...
Bar prices were a little sporadic as we ordered a few drinks with the correct change according to the bar drink menu on the tables to be told we didn't have the correct money due to the prices on their bar menu not being up-dated yet!
Was extremely dissapointed half way through our stay when sitting in our room one evening our room door was opened from the outside by the owners son, there had been a guest that had forgotten their room number and they thought it might be ours, there was no knock beforehand or warning that they were trying to gain access, luckily I had just showered and adorned my bath robe 2 seconds earlier which saved me any embarrassment.
The next morning I politely gave feed back in regards to the lack of warning we had that they were entering our room.....it seemed it fell on deaf ears I'm afraid.

I am 64 years old , my partner and I went for a 3 day break, I’ve been on holidays all my life but I have to say I have had the best 3 days of my life . I suffer with my legs, but the staff at the riviera lodge hotel were nothing less than amazingly friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble, we arrived hours early, we went to check they had my booking, they did and told me to wait while they checked if the room was ready, they did and it was so they let us into our room early , it is spotless there and I must say I’m fussy, beautiful pool and hot tub , very quiet and peaceful if that’s what you want, I didn’t want to come home and we’ve decided we are not going abroad next year we are going back here it’s perfect, thank you riviera lodge x

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel, very clean. Staff excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely and extremely well organised. We booked a small double but next time would book a larger room if available. However the room was still excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend and plan to return.

the staff were very polite, and the breakfast was very good, also had a heated pool which we used. Only down side was a 15 minute walk to the nearest part of the beach. Oterwise cant fault the hotel.

The Riviera Lodge Hotel had been recommended to us by a friend who has stayed there on many occcasions so we decided to give it a try and booked our stay in August 2016. From the moment when we arrived we were impressed by the peace and quiet and the comfortable décor and when we were booked in by the proprietor we were further impressed by our room, which was just what we wanted.

Hosts very attentive,and hard working and always on hand to answer any queeries or guide you in the right direction.the lodge is only 5/10 mins walk to sea front and many resurants, shops and entertainment. This hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the beach and 15/20 minutes from the town. The staff were friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Cooked Breakfast was delicious, and there's cereal to choose from also. We had a standard room which was perfect for us, the bed and pillows were extremely comfy! The pool area is extremely clean and so is the pool and hot tub itself. It had a range of sun loungers/chairs and tables around it to choose from. As me and my boyfriend both work in hotels as a cleaner/housekeeper, we can't fault this hotel, it was brilliant! Very clean, very friendly staff, excellent service! Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!

Stayed just for one night on business but lovely warm welcome from both Lee and Carsten. The hotel and room were both spotless and I would definitely return. Just one small suggestion - if breakfast service could start earlier for those with an early start that would be great as I didn't get to sample what I was assured was a delicious breakfast. y husband and I had a lovely week at this hotel. The breakfast was good and was served hot and fresh. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We used the hot tub which was very nice after we had been walking the cliff path. The conservatory was a nice relaxing place to return to either in late afternoon and read a book or paper or to sit and have a drink with other guests after a meal out. B&B not Hotel
We paid for a Premium room which was down the side of B&B and very dark and dismal, we immediately asked for a lighter room but we're told nothing available. Looking out the window we could see into the bedroom of the adjoining building. The sofa was in a dark corner and had soggy cushions. If you do not like full English breakfast apart from grapefruit in bowl no seasonal fruit was available to go with small choice of cereal, and yogurt in pots. Toast and croissants were also available. We feel there should be a UK setting for stars on Hotel and B&B so that you can at least have an idea what the standard is.

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the hotel in early June. Management was very friendly and the staff were courteous. The hotel was smartly furnished, well maintained and the breakfasts were excellent . We would definitely return to this hotel again.
