I normally don’t do reviews but this was a great experience hence giving it. They gave a free upgrade to summer suite which provided a great view to the sunset. The staff was excellent, breakfast was included and was decent (however they do require notifications of breakfast items in advance).
The only issue (which we didn’t face but can foresee) is hotel location - it is not accessibility friendly, so it is likely very hard for people in wheelchairs, older folks with joint issues etc.

Our stay at Fanari felt like a fairytale. The cave villa was very spacious for our family of 4, and we equally loved the sun deck with dramatic views of the caldera and sapphire blue waters below, and balcony with perfect sunset views. Perched high above Amouddi Bay, Fanari is also ideally situated in Oia, past the crowds, but just a short walk from all the shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful and had a great recommendation for a Catamaran tour. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

If you are staying in Oia, look no further. Fanari Villas is the perfect location, situated among the beautiful whitewashed buildings and a gorgeous view overlooking the caldera. The complimentary breakfast offers a wide variety of choices and was delicious. What really stood out was the incredible staff. We were welcomed at the private parking lot and our bags were carried up to our rooms. The lobby staff treated us like family and made sure we had everything we needed. They gave us a tour of the the property and upgraded our room. They even went out of their way to walk us to a nearby church owned by the Fanari family since the 1600's. The last day our flight wasn't until late and they let us keep our luggage there all day, while also providing us with a map and excellent itinerary options. Santorini was the last leg of a 2.5 week trip throughout Europe (Switzerland, Italy, and Greece). Fanari Villas was by far the best service we received.

A true dream vacation

We had a wonderful time, a true dream vacation staying here (Honeymoon for me). Staff are very friendly and kind they treated us like family. The service was superb I highly recommend this place. There is an amazing restaurant in the hotel and other restaurants are only a few minutes walk. Actually everything is a few minutes away, shops, restaurants, historic buildings and great views. The hotel was the perfect place to get to see the breathtaking sunset and it has a panoramic view of the sea. We were in the sunset honeymoon suite and we had a very private patio and a 2nd floor with tanning/beach chairs which is semi-private, people can see you in certain angles ( you are top of the roof). The hotel is more private than other hotels that we saw which is one of the main reasons we love it here. I will come here again!

The staff were all really friendly and extremely helpful. The place was clean, bright and the breakfast was good. Only suggestion would be to include coffee in the buffet breakfast (non Greek coffee).

We stayed in the Kyklos Villa for part of the stay which was amazing and highly recommend. Then the Junior Suite (Caldera view) which could do with a modernised bathroom especially given the price per night. Additionally our neighbours were chain smokers making it rather unpleasant to enjoy our outdoor seating area. The hotel should allocate a specific smoking area for guests so not to ruin the experience for others.

Overall a beautiful place to stay with kind people and hospitality.

Everything was great. Breakfast included was a good option and they even rang the room in the morning before it ended to amke sure we could get there. Incredible staff at reception that i had the pleasure of working with Caterina, Penelope, Andrian. Wow really they were all great. Caterina worked closely with me calling her a number of times while she coordinated a boat ride and transport to and from the boat. Wow was the ride amazing. Andrian took my request but Caterina handled all the booking and money etc. Wow truly great. Thank you three so so much. Penelope made checkin and checkout a breeze and a pleasure and took some nice photos of me and my fiancé as well as showed us the special church on the property owned by the owner. Such special history. I hope to see you all again. Best wishes.

Please read the review if you have VEGETARIAN / VEGAN dietary restrictions.

Restaurant doesn’t have any options that can serve the specific dietary restrictions. Even simple things like Chilli flakes to put on pasta, English Breakfast Tea packets and such are not available.

If you’re paying a premium then you’d at least expect some basic food options or tea or breakfast options etc.

Restaurant staff was annoyed when I asked for English Breakfast Tea packet.

Reservation Desk Staff - Five Star

Everything else about this property is incredible but the food is major let down.

Hope they’d listen and improve upon since I’d love to go back the same property again in future.

Could have been a slam dunk

Was disappointing that they did not inform us when we checked in that the hot tub was not working. They did not offer us another alternative Villa to make a choice. Only after we tried to use and was not working did they say it was not going to work as they would not have the parts in time. To us this is unacceptable with the view and opportunity of the villa.

We stayed in the senior suit and it was very nice. The sunset view, service, breakfast etc. and the restaurant is better than some highest ratting restaurants in the town.

If you don't stay here, you should definitely have dinner here, then you can enjoy both the sunset view and the great food.

We wanted a top hotel in Santorini for our honeymoon. We were not disappointed!!!
Booked a honeymoon suite and it was phenomenal! The property was amazing!
Had breakfast every day, and dinner one night. Every employee made you feel extremely welcomed! All the views were amazing, especially the world famous sunset. Would 100% recommend and can’t wait to go back!

The best hotel we stayed at on our entire 3 week trip!! Beautiful sunset views from your room and they are so accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be back! They had a wonderful breakfast each morning with amazing views as well. The staff is very kind and even shared history of the island as we checked in and he showed us to our room. The staff also carried our large luggage to and from the parking lot which was wonderful considering all of the stairs on the island. Overall this is a wonderful choice as it is perfect for its location to the town and position towards the world famous sunsets. Highly recommend!!

Our stay at Fanari Villas was absolutely incredible - pictures just don't do this place justice - the location and views are unbeatable. You feel like a part of the family immediately once you arrive, the staff is very sweet and attentive and ensure your stay is everything you hoped it would be. I would HIGHLY recommend this property, the villa was spacious and felt old-world yet modern, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was delicious and our time lounging by the pool overlooking the Aegean was amazing. We hope to return someday!

This hotel is in the perfect location and the sunset views are incredible. We got upgraded to a room with private balcony and Jacuzzi tub which we used. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. They arranged transportation from the airport and to our next hotel and planned a catamaran cruise for us. We also enjoyed the restaurant for dinner and lunch, they have yummy food.

The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful from the moment we arrived. Our room which apparently was only recently renovated and made available was amazing with one huge very private patio and a second patio with the hot tub. The room was spotless and tastefully and charmingly decorated. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. I cannot say enough nice things about this property. The location was very close to central Oia. I would go back and stay for a week if I could!

Our stay at Fanari Villas was so amazing. They arranged transport from the airport and carried our luggage from the road down the many steps. Check in was easy, the room was clean and nice, the shower had a great view and impressive water pressure. Since we are Expedia VIP members the hotel upgraded our room to the Summer Lovers room which imo, has one of the best sunset views in Oia from our private back patio. (Little akward that people in front of our villa were camping out for photos).

Beautiful location and friendly staff. Stayed at the Honeymoon suite with an indoor pool/jacuzzi. In the jacuzzi, half of the jets didn't work and the floor was a bit \"slimy\". Bathroom fixtures in the shower were loose. I didn't contacted the staff to repair any of these. I didn't want the inconvenience of having repairs while I was there. Aside from that, place is awesome and it is a perfect spot to admire the famous Santorini sunset from the comfort of your own hotel room or from the hotel's pool area.

I loved everything about my room and the property. The room gave me an authentic Greek feel and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. Sunset view directly from my balcony (villa 5). The only downside was the private jacuzzi/bathtub outside my room didn't seem that appealing as it was super small and did not heat up. I didn't use at all. Other than that, everything was great including the breakfast that was included and the room service. If you are looking for an authentic feel to your room, this is the place to be. I would definitely return again.

Overall service and cleanliness was good but I was not happy because of the fact that their marketing is misguiding. They used the picture of jetted hot tub which is shared at the hotel level and make it look like as if it was jetted hot tub inside the suite. Frankly, I opted to pay $1000 per night because of that and was really disappointed when I came to know that that it was not true.

Amazing! The trip started a bit rocky because the Aegean lost our luggage … needed less to say it was a bummer. The hotel staff was amazing at really caring about our situation. The hotel checked on us while we were handling our luggage crisis. Efi made us feel welcome right away when we arrived. Constantine followers with amazing service at dinner along with being really attentive with our bags - as well as for the remainder of our stay. It was my husbands birthday. I asked for something nice. We arrived and there was complimentary champagne and flowers. A very nice treat. Constantine followed up with some more champagne at our first dinner. With stunning Sunset views from our balcony. The hotel was private and very nice. Just a few minutes away from the main strip. Perfect getaway! The staff went above and beyond to make amends for our list suitcases to ensure we had a lovely birthday trip. They truly are amazing! I would definitely return and recommend.

If you've started your planning you know there are many choices in Oia. Do not hesitate on booking at Fanari Villas. The location is perfect in town, not too many steps all-in-all. The friendly staff was absolutely wonderful. We arrived via taxi and were immediately assisted with our luggage. Early to check in, our room was nearly ready and we were gifted refreshments at the restaurant while we waited. Our accommodations were stunning. The view is absolutely incredible. Sunsets were right in front of our balcony. The interior has some warm stone, wood elements that we loved. Not the standard all white everything. The restaurant was amazing and offered discounts to guests of the hotel. It was one of the most romantic experiences with stunning sunset views, good wine and delicious food. If we are ever back, we will definitely stay here again.

I just can’t say enough good things. We came from FL for my 30th birthday- we were so spoiled by everyone here. The moment we got there someone met us in the parking lot and carried all of our (very heavy) baggage up. We met the receptionist - Maria who was literally an angel sent to earth. She was so sweet and had the most calming disposition about her. She walked us to our room which was supposed to be one of the lesser expensive rooms that she upgraded to the honeymoon suite. She was there for most literally everything we needed, arranged all of our transportation numerous times per day and did so with such care and grace. My second night there I fell very ill due to a dehydration migraine but forgot my medicine at home. I pushed through for dinner - we had a reservation at the on site restaurant, and happily found they had reserved the best table for us which was in the corner with an unobstructed sunset view. A few moments after we were seated, Maria came down and found us to tell us that she had called the pharmacy and they would be open until 11:00 if I needed to get medication. Thank God for her because I had to leave dinner early and ended up getting very seriously ill and had to leave dinner early.

To make things even sweeter, our last day there I received a knock on the door and to my surprise it was our server from the previous nights dinner who showed up with a birthday desert complete with a sparkler. I loved it there and miss the sweet staff!!

Picture perfect location

Amazing location above Amoudi bay and close to the centre of Oia, yet feels quiet away from the crowds. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean with superb sunset view from the balcony and also from the restaurant.

The hotel offers multiple room options with outside jacuzzi, which are worth considering when staying at this hotel, given the fantastic views on the bay and sunset. Most balconies are semi-private with some tourists occassionally passing by but this is typical of the island given the set-up. Service was good but felt food was a bit average, although there are some really good restaurants nearby down in the bay and in town as an alternative

A good choice for us.5 minutes from the center of Oio. Lovely room overlooking the sea. Good breakfast. Good sized room. Santorini is pretty but 2 days is sufficient. Incredibly t ouristy even in October which is supposedly offseason. Very hilly property on a cliff and not recommended for elderly people or anyone who may have walking issues.

This is a fantastic property with stunning views and an ideal location to see those famous sunsets, and it's a very short walk to downtown Oia, the castle, the bay, etc. The staff was incredibly helpful and gave really useful insider recommendations for things to see, restaurants to try, etc. It's not cheap, but well worth the money.

The property is located in the picturesque town of Oia. The hotel is built right into the hillside. It really embodied what I pictured Santorini to be. The hotel was located walking distance to shopping and we easily made the hike down to the harbor below to catch a day cruise. The staff was AMAZING from the bellhop that greeted us at the street, to the receptionist Maya who escorted us to our the room and took the time to show us how to work everything, to the receptionist Hassna who recommended great excursions and restaurant reservations. The sunset views were phenomenal from this hotel (everyone flocks to Oia to watch the sunsets and we could stay where we were to enjoy it). Our family executive suite was perfect for our family size of 4. Had a great pool and sunbathing area. The restaurant was fabulous with outdoor tables to enjoy the sunset. Included breakfast was perfect. So happy we chose to stay in Oia instead of Fira which seemed like a lot more busier over there. Thank you, Fanari Villas. We will be back again.

This place was amazing and the views were awesome. Place was overall great and the location was also great, able to walk to many stores and restaurants. Not much to complain about, but I do feel the need to mention that the hot tub for our room wasn't able to get hot and the place isn't cheap. Worth it for some great memories and pictures.

The Fanari Villas are simply amazing. Large rooms built into the hillside with our own balcony and a view straight from the classic Santorini post cards! The staff are warm, engaging and always at hand with advice, booking trips or ensuring we had a table at the bar and/or restaurant. The food was excellent and service sublime. The Villas are located with an uninterrupted view of the amazing sunset and far enough away from the cruise ships’ madding crowds. Highly recommended.

Amazing stay at Fanari Villas. Great service from Mala & Nikolas & Ali, as well as all the other staff we encountered. The room was pretty good - it was at the bottom, so did have a lot of stairs going up and down just to get to the room, but that also meant a lot of privacy. We did pass by a couple of room with jetted tubs, which were very exposed. The staff went out of their way to help us make the most of our trip - Nikolas gave us his personal Iphone charger for our entire stay, because we had lost ours on the journey to Santorini (amazing!), Mala booked us for a last minute cruise for the next day and ensured they received the booking and pickup instructions, as well as helped with getting our ferry tickets (again last minute - just before the office closed!). Thanks to the team at Fanari for the amazing stay!

I loved Fanari for almost everything. The location was excellent. The staff was awesome. From the young man who took care of breakfast, to the incredible front reception/concierge staff who couldn’t do enough for you and the balcony and view. The bathroom was a bit small for two ladies (accustomed to US styles). My only “complaint” wa the bedding. Too hard for our taste. Especially after all the stairs. Still, I would highly recommend this hotel. My guess is it superior to most.

Pretty hotel and the best view.

Everything was great. Staff and accommodations. We will definitely stay there again.

The only thing we were unhappy about was they gave us the worst seating for the sunset view at the bar. People who were not staying at our hotel had better seating. We had reserved earlier in the day. Make sure you are clear when reserving.

Amazing hotel with exceptional view and facilities

We had a great stay. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and accomodating to our dynamic arrival time due to flight cancellations. The sunset dinner at their restaurant is unlike anything I have ever experiences. The view was exceptional. The room was very comfortable and clean and they provide a complementary bottle of wine on arrival.

Awesome view

The villas are in a great location in Oia directly above Amoudi Bay. Breakfast was buffet style, was very good, included in the price. They also made fresh omelettes on request. We had a villa that included a private dipping pool which is highly recommended. It was great to have a hot afternoon. The staff was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and activities, Mia especially so. The room was kept clean, and complementary fruit and water was left for us daily. In short, it was as good as advertised and then some. By the way, we were in villa 5 in case you want to request the same.

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful location

An exceptional hotel in the best location of Oia. From start to finish this was an incredible experience. The staff on arrival were brilliant and continued to be throughout our stay Big thank you to them all. The breakfasts were excellent, everything from fruits, bread, ham, cheeses, bacon, scrambled eggs (with tomato and olive oil was my favourite), mushrooms, cereal and more to omelette or fried eggs if you requested them. Again all the staff were amazing. Our room was superb with a wonderful view of the castle, Thirassia island and the sunset. Everything you needed in the room; bed was very comfortable, plenty of seating area, table, tv, etc. Small kitchen are with cups, plates, cutlery, glasses and small wash basin. Kettle and tea/coffee/milk, etc provided. All very nicely decorated and clean with chic old furniture. Individual bathroom with brilliant shower. Hot water on every turn of the tap! All toiletries provided, including hair condition (most hotels forget that). Again ask for any replenishments and the maids are happy to supply. Balcony was large with sunbed, chairs and table and huge U shaped seating area: not to mention the Jacuzzi which was very well used. Pool was absolutely freezing but it was very welcoming on hot days and once you're in you don't want to get out.
Comfy sunbeds and more amazing views. Lots of steps to everywhere in the hotel but that's Oia. Certainly keeps you fit! If you get the chance to visit this hotel, don't hesitate-just do it!

Happy Honeymooners

We had an amazing time on Santorini and part of what made it so special was our stay at Fanari Villas. The location could not be be better. You have the perfect viewing of the sunset where 1000's of others are clamoring to find that perfect viewing spot. The staff is extremely friendly and the room was clean and fairly up to date. The only down side was the bed was really firm and my back screamed every night due to this. Otherwise super happy and would consider staying there again if we were to return to Santorini.

Nice villa hotel with amazing sunset views

Very helpful staff - right from the time of booking, all the way to the checkout, hotel staff, Nikolas and Maya were very helpful. Car pick up from ferry port and porter to carry luggage was useful. Free bottle of wine on arrival, clean and well-appointed villas, with jacuzzi and amazing sunset views from balcony were the highlights. Nice breakfast and great restaurant recommendations near the hotel.

Amazing Caldera Hotel!

The location is perfect, near the very tip of Oia. Breathtaking views of the Caldera day and night. Magical sunsets! This hotel is not for anyone with mobility problems - lots of stairs to climb to go anywhere, but it makes for a great fitness routine! The very best part of this hotel is Nikolas at the front desk. He is charming, helpful, adorable, cheerful and always ready to assist you. He made recommendations for tours, restaurants, hikes and drives that were all spot on - thank you Nikola(s)! We were originally booked for 3 nights, but decided to forgo island hopping and stayed put for 6 nights. We were 2 sisters travelling together, and we felt perfectly safe and comfortable walking around this property and all of Oia, day and night.

Uncrediable view & staff Friendly

We had a great view the place was very nice and well maintained the rooms were a little small but I think that is customary for island. We had a Picture perfect view of the sunset which they're famous for on the island.

One thing that we did not know was that this time of the year of the season is very dismal and I number of the shops were closed as well as very limited on services at the hotel. We noticed that most of the rooms were not booked because of the season . We are still glad we went it was peaceful and still beautiful .

Excellent hotel with incredible sunset views

We had a wonderful stay at Fanari Villas. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and beyond helpful in organizing dinner reservations and booking excursions for us. We spent every evening on our private balcony watching the sunset from our very own jacuzzi! We also had one of our favorite meals in Greece at the hotel's restaurant. Breakfast was delicious as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location for views and tranquility. The views from this hotel are second to none. Also located right above an awesome cafe pool where the entire town gathers for the nightly sunset as a band plays while the sun lowers into the ocean. The food at the hotel is not the best so I would definitely venture out. The rooms are a bit outdated and beds not as comfortable as you'd expect. You're definitely paying for the priceless views. Car rental is a must so you can go to Fira and the beaches at the south as well as the port.

We stayed at Fanaris for the first 3 and a half days of our honeymoon. We loved everything about the hotel--we had the most perfect room with the most perfect balcony. There was no better place in Oia to watch the sunset than from our balcony. The hotel was extremely clean, the staff were great, and everything about it was phenomenal. We highly recommend it for honeymoon purposes or any other purposes.

Honeymoon paradise on earth!

DREAM hotel - we were there on our honeymoon and were completely awed by the views from our room (No. 5), which had a rustic cave interior, an amazing balcony with a plunge pool, and a direct view of the sunset. The staff was so nice and helpful, from the guys who carry the luggage to the folks at the front desk who gave restaurant recommendations. We spent our days by the hotel pool and our nights watching the sunset from the Fanari restaurant. Our only complaint is the cheesy piano recordings they play at dinner. But we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fanari to anyone visiting Santorini - you'll have no regrets.
