We stayed in a Modern Pool Villa.

During our stay we returned to the villa one evening to find a mouse in the bedroom. We then discovered a hole behind the sofa and droppings inside the kitchen cupboards, which was a clear hygiene concern.

To their credit, the staff on site responded quickly that evening and eventually relocated us to another room. However, this was obviously disruptive packing essentials and moving late at night, especially with a small baby. We completed a full move to another villa the following day.

While the staff we dealt with were polite and tried their best to help in the moment, we were disappointed with how the matter was handled afterwards. Despite the seriousness of the issue and the disruption caused, no meaningful compensation (e.g a refund for the disrupted night) was offered by the property management. We had very small token gestures. We would’ve preferred to resolve this direct with them but found communication very difficult.

Earlier in the stay there had also been ongoing construction noise from a neighbouring property. Given the price point of the villas, this experience fell well below what we expected.

Outstanding rooms- like your own apartment with the ability to cook your own meals. Their breakfast buffet is great. Their coffee is excellent, including awesome espresso from quality beans and expertly made. Laundry by the kilo is inexpensive. Renting motorbikes is inexpensive. Their restaurant and bar area is beautiful and on the beach. The staff are helpful and friendly. When I return to Koh Samui, I will stay here above anywhere else. All staff put the customer first in this outstanding property. A true GEM!

The Expedia pictures show beach front hotel with nice beach. Was very disappointing to arrive and the “beach” is not swimmable, there is no water. You have to drive to a different area in Lamai to have beach access. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious. It more like an apartment complex. I believe there are some villas. The dinning area and complementary breakfast was good, outdoors, with ocean view.
I checked out early because I was expecting to be able to access the beach from my hotel during my vacation and that is not the case. If you want a comfortable room with breakfast this is a good place. If you want beach access this won’t work.

A little rustic, but a lovely villa

This is an absolute gem of a place. It is in a great location. The beach is beautiful, with the most amazing sunsets. The breakfast is pretty standard to what you get across Thailand. However the day/evening meals are absolutely delicious. The customer service was responsive. The cleaning of the room every 2 days was fine. We had some washing done, and it was very clean and to a high standard. We had a villa with a pool. It was very peaceful, we saw some amazing birds. The villa cost circa £200 per night. The downside was it did need some TLC. I think blaming Covid now is stretching it a bit. The furniture was basic, the hairdryer just about let out air. The overall maintenance was a bit slack. We were not really sure who was in charge of the site, but this gave some privacy we welcomed. We had an issue with the pool but it was quickly sorted. If you order room service the plates are not collected, we had to ask. Even when water was delivered plates were left behind. Excellent WiFi and access to Netflix. However it might be a bit rustic but I would definitely stay here again. There are newer villas but we were not given one of those. The trip to see the pink dolphins is a must.

Pros: Modern style bathroom. Has a pool and tiny beach.

Cons: It’s all the little things that add up to such a 2 star rating. First of all there was no luggage rack so I didn’t have to put my suitcase on the floor. As I stated at the hotel I could see where they broke holes into the wall, due to a poor paint job. Given that it can rain hard on Koh Samui, I was surprised by the lack of cover leading to the front desk and other places. I had to badger the hotel staff to make sure my laundry was brought to me on time. If I see baby roaches wondering around, it makes you wonder what other critters may be in your bed. I can keep going on and on.

The shower floor is polished marble. It is nearly impossible to move without slipping and falling. The wood around the bed is a hazard. Banging one’s shins is nearly guaranteed. The bath towels are kept near the television because there are no towel bars in the bathroom. A creepy man will follow you around and continuously smile for no reason. The glassware in the kitchen smells like mold. I could go on and on….

Our overall stay was not bad. The room was spacious, clean and had all the things required. Staff was available immediately when we messaged them. Areas around the hotel do need some renovations but if you’re there just for the room it’s not bad at all. Unfortunately, breakfast was not great. I would save the money not get breakfast included and just go out to eat at one of the many great restaurants. There’s a coffee shop called Shade at walking distance. The beach is not for swimming very shallow and rocky. If you rent a car pay attention to make the correct turn because both Apple Maps and Google Maps will make you turn too early. The actual turn can be hard to see.

The good: amazing room. Very spacious and the bed was super comfy. Very clean although the AC leaked a little. Great shower and good size bathroom. Kitchenette was very clean and had good appliances etc. Location is OK as long as you don't mind a walk down the beach to the main Lamai Beach strip. On a scooter it would only be about 5 mins to the main shopping strip with all the bars, restaurants etc. Lovely pool and plenty of seating/days beds etc. Pool bar shut :-(
The bad - it's obvious that this resort has fallen on hard times, because of Covid and is trying to claw it's way back. The grounds are neglected and some areas are completely fenced off. The dining area is very small and we had breakfast included in our rate, however, the 'hot' dishes were cold as it seemed no one knew how to use the bainmaries. We did try to ask/inform the staff about this but they had such limited English, they didn't understand. Instead they came to ensure us that the hot water in our bathroom was working!! The drinks and meals were very expensive and we chose to eat out. There are so many places along the beach offering competitive prices for cocktails and drinks, Beach Republic is really pricing themselves too high.
The ugly - one whole part of the resort is fenced off and has been used as a dumping ground over time. It's a shame as it is unslightly. Daily special offers are a joke once they add tax and surcharges to the bill.

Sadly this resort is a shadow of its former self post covid.
I’ve been going there for around 12 years and it was always fabulous.
The website is EXTREMELY misleading and still has photos of it in its former glory. Do yourselves a favour and do some me research if your thinking about staying here. The new management are still charging top dollar for absolutely minimal return.
CONS
No beach club area- that is now derelict and forlorn looking.
The breakfast was very substandard: same food items day after day with little choice.
The beach in front is full of litter, the new management do not clear it daily.
The rooms- now are looking very tired and worn. No fruit on arrival as a welcome like they used to and they’ve taken away snacks and alcohol for purchase in the rooms also.
Honestly if you’ve stayed here before when it was pre covid and you have good memories of it then please do yourself a favour it and save yourself the disappointment and trauma of the state of it now.
There’s also tacky signs stuck on walls warning you not to bring food and drink by the pool or there is a 2000 baht fine. Hardly welcoming. Yet they do nott provide WI-FI by the food for you to order online and have it brought to you….
PROs- if you haven’t been before and are looking for spacious rooms then that’s a plus. They also still have nice private pool villas.
If they had have been honest on the website about the changes then this review would not have been necessary- it’s very sad!

Lovely hotel / villa by the beach. Location was great as it was not noisy. Stayed in a suite which was spacious, clean, comfy and very relaxing. Breakfast selection was very simple.

Housekeeper came into our room herself despite us putting the ‘do not disturb’ sign. And we were quite disturbed by her.

Tropical villa definitely needs maintenance and cleaning as there were lots of stains.

Pool by the beach was quiet. There are few small cabana to lie in. Nice place to chill and relax.

Overall was a pleasant stay. And thank you to the lady (sorry didn’t get name) who assisted us for room change - definitely made our stay much more comfy.

We booked a private villa with a pool and a suite for our daughter. didn't really need a suite as it was huge!!! and she didnt really use the facilities as she was at ours all the time. The pool and courtyard was fabulous, only complaint was that the pool was not refreshing as it was like a sauna, so better to use in the evening,when the temperatures are slightly better. The courtyard is completely private. Breakfast was lovely. Can order cocktails to your room, using the app. Staff not overly helpful, which was a shame. Not a huge choice of restaurants within walking distance though. Would definitely stay again

We went to this hotel which is quite a distance from the busy areas because it was advertised as a beach club. It is no longer a beach club and there is very little to do there. The one day we wanted to stay in the resort there wasn’t enough sun beds. The breakfast isn’t buffet and is the same every day. They do have fresh fruit every day part of the breakfast which includes mango which was a nice surprise. We booked our villa based on the fact that it clearly shows a shower inside which it did not have. The villa also had an upstairs but we had no access to that but? Probably where the nice indoor shower was? We would have never booked a place with an outside shower. The place was clean, but there was lots of ants and very small crawlies which liked to bite me and left sting marks. Obviously not sprayed very often to keep such things at bay. Overall the hotel is ok, it’s just we where expecting more from the description and the photos. If you want a very quiet holiday doing nothing then this could be for you, but if you want a few bars, entertainment and a social scene then I would avoid and do some more homework and stay further up the coast

We recently enjoyed a serene stay at the Beach Republic Hotel in Koh Samui. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the breathtaking beach, offering stunning views. However, due to shallow waters and rocks, swimming might not be ideal.

Situated on the quieter side of Lamai, the hotel provides a peaceful escape. A 25-minute walk to the town center offers convenience and tranquility. While not providing 5-star service, the beachside cafe boasts a staff dedicated to accommodating guests.

The hotel's vibe was incredibly chill at the beach and within its premises. The small but convenient pool and daily yoga classes with the famous \"Yoga with Mike\" added to the relaxed atmosphere.

Opting for a club room, we were pleased with the spacious and comfortable accommodation. Despite minor imperfections, Beach Republic Hotel offers a delightful retreat for those seeking a laid-back experience on the beautiful island of Koh Samui.

Very relaxed & chilled stay, yes you do get a lot of road noise on the balcony however when doors are closed it is very peaceful. It’s a bit of a distance to the centre of Lamai but with scooter ok or jump on songthaew. Only gripe would be the beach isn’t cleaned, the neighbouring hotels cleaned theirs regularly of seaweed & litter.

Very very impressed with the Beach Republic, it's at the quieter end of Lemai Beach but within easy reach. The room was superb and modern and spacious, plus a great breakfast every morning. The staff were so friendly and helpful and helped arrange motorbike hire and taxis etc.

I am beyond disappointed in my booking with Expedia. I specifically asked for a room facing the ocean and ocean views and a bath and I received neither. I spoke to someone on the phone who assured me that that is what I was booked for. This hotel only has two very expensive penthouse suites with ocean glimpses!! The advertising the reviews and the website are totally misleading. I was put in a room close to the main road with a transformer station right outside the window. It took 3 days to be moved at further expense that I was not anticipating. This was the first holiday I have taken for over 12yrs. My experience was not pleasant at all!!

The breakfast has many choices of food. The staff is friendly. The yoga classes was very enjoyable. The instructors was very encouraging and kind. I really enjoyed Anne and Bowie. Their communication between departments needs some standardization. The staff was really great and super nice. They are all working very hard to make the guests comfortable.

Had everything I wanted, decent sized pool, next to a quiet beach, free daily yoga classes, quiet rooms, (with kitchenette); i had all inclusive breakfast which was fantastic. Staff extremely friendly and helpful especially food and beverage and housekeeping staff. Loved my room. loved general ambience of hotel, laid back and cool, not necessarily cheapest but if you need Rest & Relaxation or a honey moon then consider here.

Beside the beauty of Samui itself and all the facilities Baech Republic offers its the staff who is waaaay above any guest expectations. We were welcomed with drinks and an introduction from the new GM, both a very nice touch. Every single one of the staff members were friendly and helpful and made our week-long stay at Beach Republic memorable. The breakfast is fantastic and the Sunday brunch can't be missed. Food at the restaurant is of international standard (albeit a bit pricy compared to the next door restaurant offering traditional Thai food) and the service is impeccable. The one bedroom unit was perfect for our family of 4 (two kids -2.5years and 4months), plenty of space to let the kids nap while we relaxed in the lounge or on the deck. Great pools, all 3, with the kids pool off to the side which is nice to not feel like you're bothering other guests with splashing etc. Loved the many cabana options, one always seemed to be available and the outlook to the beach was spectacular. Highly recommend this resort!!

Friendly and helpful staff. Location was great and close to a mini mart and number of restaurants. Shuttle bar to Lamai and Chaweng was handy. Our room was huge, although there was a number of maintenance issues for the room that were required whilst we were staying - air con did not work & it took over 24 hours to get fixed. Sliding door did not close properly and would not lock (and was not fixed during our stay even though staff were advised on day of arrival), jacuzzi on balcony did not work & bins in room were not emptied twice during our stay. Beach was a bit of a disappointment as it was rocky and sludgy sand below the water so was not ideal for swimming. Choice at breakfast buffet was limited compared to other resorts we stayed at on our SE Asia holiday. The cooked food sat in heating trays and eventually went hard and was unedible.

It’s stunning and the breakfast is amazing.

Only complaint is they try to rush you out of the room early and they rip you off on their taxi service and charge you more on in room charges. Example the sheet said orange juice 55 baht and all of sudden reception is charging 65 baht. So I can’t imagine what they would do if you enjoyed the bigger ticket items in the room.

Walk to street and negotiate with a taxi for better rate to airport or anywhere. If going to airport do not pay more then 400 baht.

Wonderful stay at the Beach Republic. Service is great, we were nicely surprised with the boxed breakfast prepared for us for our very early departure! The location has a nice beach massage and restaurant close by as well. Will definitely come again next time. Didn't get to enjoy the pool in the room cos it's too cold when we got back in the evenings... Oh.. And thanks for the bubbly and cupcakes for our honeymoon too

Beach Republic is a very nice place to stay. Our room was bigger than expected, and very clean. The staff were always smiling and very helpful. The location is good, being next to the beach, but quite a long, although very pleasant walk into Lamai town. The only thing we wern't too happy about was the loud music that was played every afternoon around the pool. Other than that, It is a very good choice for a beach holiday.

Sadly we were unaware that the restaurant and swimming pool were not in the pool complex but a short walk away . Not really suited for those with mobility issues as lots of steps and incline to and from restaurant etc. The swimming pool and restaurants are a bit tired and loud music plays most of the time. Only go here if you like a party atmosphere. Sunday’s were like party season with booming music all day and lots of off-site visitors purchasing tickets to come to the Brunch all day special. Close to some lovely restaurants and a taxi ride away from the markets. Sadly not for us.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and perfect each morning. Each day they have an excellent Happy Hour or specials which we enjoyed while we swam or relaxed in the sun.
We had a Swedish message a day and it was worth every Baht. A must!
Our room was very spacious and large, however, it needed updating: painting, fixing small items that were broken.
Thank you staff for making our stay GREAT!

Cool; relaxing; charming staff with cool tunes aro

Place grew on me more and more; staff are great: love to Pui, Nong, Keaw, Than, Beam, Su and many more who have lovely smiles and genuinely care . This place is very chilled and we enjoyed being out of Lamai yet close enough to the noise if needed. The beach was fine and quiet, the pools well kept. We always found a bed- There are plenty of places to if you want to pay much less than the hotel's prices but the food at the hotel was very good. Outside the hotel turn right before the phamacy and there's a couple of lovely restaurants that serve great Thai food and the Buddha Bowl and clear soup was lovely! Air and her friend there are so helpful and kind - The Gym we had to ourselves and the steam room was free - The beds comfy. Across teh road tot eh right theres a lady that serves Thai food from huge pots - 50 Bhat - Go early he feeds all the locals - i loved her and her food, but all she can say his : chicken Pork and Spicy, bless her - Buy a coconut from the coconuts man and hell slice the top off and give you a straw - 40 Bhat ( Pop it in the fridge !!!) DJ Dave beats are very chilled and relaxing lots of slow reggae beats , quiet loud but after a while I was dancing ( the only one though much to familys concern:-) I love the little Fish ponds buy the spa area - so relaxing and quiet - Ahhh miss this place!

Great location - at one end of a long beach

Easy arrival procedure and very nice helpful staff. All needs tended to immediately (i.e. iron, scooter hire, additional quilt, car to airport). Location - really really good - at one end of Lamai Beach. Walked the beach every morning, very peaceful. Assortment of places to lounge around the pool or under the palms on the property - sofas and sofa beds really comfortable. Within walking distance to convenience store, taxis, etc. 5 min scooter ride into Lamai proper. Its a really nice low key place to rest, recharge/reboot :-).

A resort that manages to feel small and intimate- not like those big Caribbean concrete resorts. Beautiful room, jungle vibe, and as a guest we had access to the best waterfront lounges and outdoor beds. Great drinks and deals (2 for 1 happy hour every day!) on a beautiful island with lots of activities to go to. We rented a scooter and went up the mountain to a viewpoint restaurant (see pic) and it was maybe a 20 min ride from resort. Excellent location if you are a little more into relaxing than partying with backpackers (they are mainly in the north of the island).

Loved our room and want to go back.

We loved Beach Republic. We are able to check into our room early after an overnight flight and the rooms were amazing. It was like having your own small house. We especially loved the private pool and the fact that we could swim without anyone seeing us. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were beautifully air-conditioned. We also really enjoyed the outdoor shower and bathroom area. I cannot say enough about how wonderful all of the staff was. So friendly and helpful - they really added to our experience. I highly suggest getting a Traditional Thai massage with Tang - she was incredible. The beach and pool area are fantastic with beds to lie on and lots of shade available. If you want to go shopping it is a drive to either Chaweng or Lamai but it is not too far. I also recommend going to Boput on Friday night for the Fisherman's market and Lamai on Sunday for their night market.

A great place to relax and enjoy Ko Samui

My boyfriend and I stayed at Beach Republic for 3 nights after a trip to Bangkok. The apartment was spacious, included all the items you need to make yourself snacks, dinner or breakfast, the bed was really comfortable a large bathroom etc. Before booking we looked at the virtual tour via the website and the video was very accurate.

The two pool areas have plenty of loungers, beds, chairs and bean bags that face the sea and beach – which is perfect while uplifting melodic house music plays in the background.
The staff are super friendly, helpful and smiley and the breakfast selection was delicious (if you're English there are lots of English-centric touches such has Heinz ketchup) and we had massages that were very relaxing (the facilities and modern and idea for a chilled time).

The hotel is about 15 minute drive from Chaweng beach which has lively bars and restaurants - the hotel offers a nicely air conditioned bus (with great music playing) to take you there for 400 THB one way.
We tried Brunch on Sunday which gave us hours to sample the amazing array of meats, cheeses, fruits, deserts, savoury dishes and even a (chicken, Lamb or beef) Roast Dinner - We were spoilt for choice and very full after the feast.
Every day we received freshly baked biscuits as a nice surprise and a newsletter in our room to tell us what is going on at the hotel - thoughtful. It is clear that the management and staff go to a lot of effort to ensure that customer experience is positive.

Brilliant

We just had a brilliant stay! The rooms were spacious, very clean and well maintained.
The food was great, especially the Sunday brunch!
The staff were amazing they couldn't do more for you, of there was anything you needed they would get it for you.
A shuttle bus went to local lamai which is only 5 min drive where there are also nice restaurants.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

My only minor feed back was that a couple of the out door furniture could do with a bit of repair as a couple of them had rips, but only a few!

Amazing luxury new resort on a beautiful beach

We booked this trip for 2 nights to relax following a fairly hectic couple of weeks travelling. The best room we've ever stayed at in the beach front suite - views and atmosphere out of this world and worth the extra money for the wow factor! All staff very polite and happy and couldn't do enough for us, would recommend to anyone!

Nice Hotel but quite expensive for food and drink

The hotel was very nice and staff very friendly. The food and drink was expensive compared to the local restraunts and bars. The beach was quite rocky and very shallow not ideal for swimming.

Short break in Koh Samui

We really enjoyed BR ,the staff were attentive and helpful.the room was more like a mini apartment ,very spacious and convenient for the beach and amenities .We used the spa and although the prices were a little higher than those on the strip outside it was well worth it.The pool area was lovely and the DJ who came and played an excellent choice of music everyday between 1pm-7pm was a nice touch and not intrusive .We didn't bother with a moped as the traffic outside was hair raising but did use a number of metered cabs and found them very in expensive.
