Stayed at a beautiful villa in Koh Samui and had an amazing experience. The view was absolutely stunning and one of the highlights of the stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well presented. Staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout. Would definitely recommend hiring a car to get around the island more easily. Overall, a fantastic stay and would happily return!

I only stayed for two nights, but the receptionist was very welcoming. As I was arriving just after the restaurant closed, they arranged for a meal to be brought to my room so I had that when I arrived. They also arranged my transport from the airport and back.

The room was spotless and spacious, the bed was comfortable. Beautiful sea view from the terrace. Breakfast was lovely. I couldn't fault it. Would definitely recommend.

Mixed feelings actually. Yes, the views are stunning but make sure they don't give you Gardenia as you will be viewing the fence.
Secondly, this is not a luxury villa but they behave like they are. Service charge 10% at a restaurant with zero service, charging for taxis as much as they want but the bed sheets are proper for a 3 star hotel. Employees are really nice though. Thus, mixed feelings but not returning for sure.

I loved everything about this property. We didn’t have a pool villa, but it was so big and beautiful. The bathtub especially was nice and large. Very reasonably priced and I loved the views from our villa and the pool. Walking down to coral cove is doable but steep but they can take you down there as well!

This property is beautiful and serene. This is a luxurious stay with an attentive staff on all aspects. The only downside is the villas are located on a steep cliff which will require a shuttle from the hotel to your desired location which means some preplanning and flexibility on your part whcih was the only downside for us. It limited our dining options. We would stay again with this in mind. The views and the pool were worth it!

i had such an amazing time at this hotel, we had the pool villa and had a stunning view, the staff was incredibly nice to us and welcoming. We highly recommend.

Only bad part is it is tough to get up the hill… most taxis won’t make the drive and if you rent a car i recommend a bigger car or you won’t make it up. Hotel does offer shuttle if needed.

Sandalwood is an amazing place to stay! It is a bit inconvenient due to the location being on top of a very steep hill but the views are worth it. Staff was incredible and made it very easy to book taxis down and back to the rest of the island. Everything is managed over WhatsApp. The private pool we had was very nice. The room is a bit outdated and we had a bit of a bug issue but nothing we couldn’t manage. Restaurant is just okay.

Would definitely stay here again for the views alone!

Absolutely everyone should consider staying here with in Koh Samui especially during the rainy season. We got the private pool which was incredible and the view was wonderful. It felt so fancy and the hotel itself had everything you needed on site.

My wife and I had the most amazing honeymoon in koh samui, we stayed at sandalwood and it was unbelievable, the views are stunning the staff are soo friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Bougainvilla and would highly recommend anyone to go check it out. Also make sure to visit the on site restaurant Blue Ginger, quite possibly one of the best places to eat in the island. 10/10 unreal holiday destination

My wife and I stayed here for one night and the place was amazing! It isn’t too far from the airport and we were able to get there with no problem by getting a taxi once we landed. It is a little bit of a drive up the mountain (but not much) to get there and the climb is worth it!

When we got there, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They got us checked in quickly and we walked up to our room. The layout is essentially a bunch of individual villas along a winding path. When we got to our villa, we were welcomed with a stunning view overlooking the ocean that was visible from pretty much every room!

We had a private pool just outside the villa and a bottle of wine we could purchase so we headed out back to drink some wine in the pool while watching an amazing sunset!

The villa had a couple of TVs and had good air conditioning, so we were comfortable the entire night and absolutely loved the place. It left us wishing we could have stayed a few more nights.

The rooms do require a little walking but nothing strenuous. There aren’t any restaurants nearby but there was a nice hotel restaurant that was quick and easy with lots of good options including breakfast. There was a bit of construction going on in the morning nearby and it sounds like that has been happening for a while. It isn’t being done by the hotel. That was about the only disruption and it wasn’t anything severe enough to keep us from booking here again.

Overall it was an amazing stay!

We had an amazing stay at Sandalwood resort. The property was sunny with gorgeous views and our room was spectacular. We had our own private pool too! Our favourite spot on our whole trip through Thailand. The only issue was had was that the hotel was right up a difficult hill to drive/walk so many taxis wouldn’t come up the steep hill to get us or stop us off and we had to hike it… it was a tough walk up. The hotel sometimes offered us their taxi/truck but there were extra costs. Overall an amazing place though.

This is an excellent property if you want a scenic view and privacy. However, it felt a bit like a tourist trap. It is located in a secluded high area. Very challenging to walk out of. You have to pay high prices for the taxi provided by the hotel. The food at the restaurant is delicious but doable, as is the price of other places in town. They were “nickel & dimming” me from the minute I checked in. I did not appreciate feeling trapped and forced to pay for everything. The staff was amiable and attentive. Maybe if you have your own transportation, it would be more enjoyable. On the bright side it's a beautiful properly.

Beautiful property and very friendly staff! We stayed in the 1 bedroom pool villa - the view was amazing, the room and pool were gorgeous and the staff were so friendly. The hotel provides room service for every meal (very tasty food), daily cleaning and have a personal driver to take guests to and from the hotel. They also helped us book activities and went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing. Definitely worth the money, my husband and I will definitely go back one day :)

Such a magical place, we stayed in the suite called Jumpee, it has a private infinity pool, outdoor jacuzzi tub and a spacious interior. The staff is super friendly and so helpful. The on site restaurant has a great selection and the food is great. The resort is isolated but they have a shuttle service that will take you anywhere and it is priced very reasonably. I would definitely recommend this resort for a quiet and memorable stay.

Beautiful property, it is beginning to show it's age. High up in the mountains, you get amazing views, great photos. But far away from store resturant and just off the local highways. Taxis and bus are not easy to get to go that direction. And it's. Much more expensive then other areas for transportation. Fortunately, the hotel does a little shuttle up and down the steep hill and to the 2 local beaches.

Absolutely the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in! They treated us like royalty. Picked us up from the ferry terminal in a private car. The sea view was amazing! The room was HUGE (2000 sq ft??) with a kitchen, second bedroom, giant balcony, jacuzzi tub. Free shuttle service to and from town. The owner even drove us in his own vehicle to a nearby town b/c it was after the shuttle's hours. Wanted to stay here forever!! Top notch!

Ok this is an excellent place to stay with differing size villas, most of which have their own pool.
We had a one bed grand villa with pool it was brillient. Very private quiet and spacious.
Good storage, plenty of hot water excellent views. Highly recommended. Restaurant was great good selection of Thai and Western food.

Staff were excellent, from reception, housekeepong, tour desk, restaurant, gardeners and pool cleaners, not forgetting the taxi drivers.

They would pick you up from the airport or anywhere you wanted.

However the venue is not suited to people with mobility issues.
There are many steps and slopes around, it is fine if you are active. At 70 I found it ok but not if your balance is poor.

The whole venue gives you fabulous vistas as it is up the side of a very steep hill, and I mean steep. Probably a gradient of 1 in 4.
Only the resident taxis would get you up and down the hill. Ask an ordinary taxi to take you and they would refuse.

But as I said earlier not a problem. If you booked a tour the taxis would run you down the jill to a layby to meet the tour van or bus and come and come and pick you up.
We were well pleased with are villa and choice of location, we would happily have stayed longer than our 2 weeks.

The property was lovely with a beautiful view. The rooms were spacious and they had everything that you could need including a flashlight, bug spray and a first aid kit. The surrounding property was lovely as well with lots of foliage. The staff were very friendly and helped us with anything we needed. As it is quite far up the hill they provided a shuttle up and down the hill if you needed. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Sandalwood goes above and beyond with their guests. They add that personal touch that big chain hotels have lost. We felt at home and like we were treating by family. The last day we had to to the airport and got delayed having a massage so they were worried about us missing our flight and weee calling us! Amazing staff and if I were to go back to Samui I’ll definitely stay here again

As cliche as it sounds, our stay was magical. While it was a bit of an adventure getting up the hill on our moped with all of our bags, we could have called the front desk and gotten a pick up. We were greeted by the very friendly front office staff and checked in by the owner, all while sitting pool side with a chilled glass of juice and a cold cleansing towel. They provided a phone for our use while on the island if and when we needed shuttle services which was an added bonus. We didn’t end up using it as we only stayed one night but if we had spent any more time it would have been incredibly convenient. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and rented the grand jacuzzi suite. The suite was very large and had a wrap around balcony with amazing views and a private jacuzzi tub on the balcony. Upon recommendation from the owner, we ended up having a Milk Bath set up on our balcony tub by their on site Spa staff. They set it up while we were eating dinner at the hotel restaurant (great food and drinks and very nice staff - again, greeted by the owner which gave a very personal experience). The Milk Bath was amazing, room was very comfortable, and all I can say is we wish we had stayed more than one night. If you have the opportunity to stay here, do it.

Great hotel if your looking to just get away from everything and everyone. Booked It for my Honeymoon great place for that. The only bad thing to say is if you need to go into town you had to use the Hotel Drivers at 800bht per round trip not easy so if you would like to see the town not the place for you but if your looking to get away this is the place for you

We had the most amazing 10-day stay at Sandalwood, absolute 5 star service at all times. From the moment we arrived until we left, everyone was attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

We were provided with a mobile phone for the entire stay, so that we could arrange to be collected by the hotel's driver from anywhere on the island for a modest cost, and some local trips were free of charge during the daytime. The rooms were immaculate, and we had a plunge pool on our balcony with panoramic views across the bay.

The room was very comfortable and spacious, with traditional Thai style decor. Breakfast was included, and there was a good selection for even the fussiest eaters. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times in the evening, the food was good, but I thought you could get better value meals in the restaurants nearby.

We also used the spa, and had a massage - again, absolutely brilliant. The only slight negative is the really steep hill up to the hotel, so you can't really walk down to the beach etc, but it doesn't matter really, as there's a free shuttle up and down the hill in the daytime.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and have already recommended Sandalwood to all my friends!! Hope to visit again soon!

This is not a 5 star property. It’s not even a 4 star. Not even close. The rooms are very old and dated. The pictures are very misleading and staged well. Do not come here expecting a gorgeous 5 star place.

Beautiful resort with great staff. It's slightly off the beaten path, and way up a steep mountainside, so the views are awesome. The only very minor downside is that the local taxis won't usually drive up the mountain. This is not a problem though, because the resort will provide any transportation you need, including just a pick up at the bottom of the hill.

We stayed at the Jasmine room for 3 nights, it was lovely. What we felt for Sandalwood was their impeccable service, attentive and kind staffs and every tiny details that are very well thought of.

We were provided a mobile phone throughout our stay where we can use to call and schedule our shuttle, they provide free shuttle to town at certain time. We were given beach bags and beach towels that we could bring with us.

Their breakfast spread was much better than 5 stars named hotels, local yet delicious. Although my husband and I felt that Jasmine room was a lil rundown initially, but after our check in and stay there for a few nights, we were greeted with their attentive staffs and beautiful view, it was awesome. Staying at Sandalwood felt like home, comfortable and close to heart.

Everything was well thought of, every single tiny details. =) Bravo, Sandalwood team!

1. The room: large, spacious, clean, luxurious, and comfy bed.
2 The staff: absolute superstars. Very attentive, friendly and quick to respond to any need. Memorised my name and made we feel welcome.
3. The food: the included breakfast allows you to order eggs Benedict like you are at a cafe etc in addition to the buffet which was top notch. Had dinner at the restaurant twice. Sensational. High quality food
4. The location: it is away from the centre. 15 min but car. They offer free shuttle service a few times a day. Or they can get you a private car 400b each way. Can be expensive if multi trips per day but the location allows for you to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle!
5. The views: absolutely awesome

Overall highly recommend if you want a few nights break! Exceeded my expectations and 12 out of 10!

I think the best word to describe Sandalwood Luxury Villas is \"boutique\". It has the amenities of a 5 star hotel coupled with the intimacy of a small bed and breakfast. I've never stayed anywhere quite like it. Over the 7 nights I stayed there I got to know the staff and the owners and they couldn't do enough for me. The girls at reception deserve special praise. They were always smiling and welcoming whilst being extremely proficient at their job. I honestly can't fault this place. To quote Arnold, \"I'll be back!\"

The Hotel, Staff, cleanliness, food, facilities, and even owners are awesome. These people care about every single detail, they even offer you a mobile no. With all of the staff's numbers saved on it so that if needed anything while you are in the city. You recieve a cracker with a Good night written on it. I've been to many 5 stars Hotels and never had such human touches in them, I'd rate this hotel with more than extremely happy, and recommend it to everyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience.

The hospitality of the staff were exceptional. The crow was beautiful. Personal car to take you into town. Easy to call hotel to request a pick up. Hotel books tours and takes care of all your needs. Breakfast is excellent.

Amazing views and service

This hotel was our favorite in our 10 day adventure around Thailand.
They offer free airport shuttle which made arriving to the island stress free, it is really expensive to transport around the island, relative to other big cities. Check-in was seamless, they offer you a cellphone to make local calls, call front desk, and request \"shuttles\" (SUVs) for pick-up. The free breakfast buffet selection was also my favorite in my whole trip, buffet items changed every day but they also offered a menu with items from the kitchen.
The location is slightly inconvenient, but also the reason for it's amazing views. The hotel is up a steep hill that requires a 4x4. We booked a couple tours on the island and suttles can be arranged for free with the hotel to pick up and drop off guests if vehicle transfers cannot make it up the hill.
I would definitely stay here again.

Overall a nice place. The pictures on the website sell this place as having amazing uniterupted views. We booked a two bedroom villa based on the pictures on the website. Some of the villas have this view but others do not, still a nice view but with trees and other villas in the way. Also it is important to note that many of the villas have another villa built directly on top, so that the people above can look directly down into your pool area. This is not the private feel the pictures portray. Villa are usually their own stand alone buildings. Also be aware if you plan to lay in the sun by your villa pool some villas get very little direct sun. The value here is still great. The villas are spacious and well designed. The property even provides a phone to contact the drivers they provide for pick up and drop off. There is a free shuttle to crystal beach a beautiful secluded beach near by for when you feel like laying under a palm tree or a swim in the ocean. If you plan to do allot or exploring taxis and shuttle fees to and from the villas can add up.

As a couple experiencing our first holiday together in Thailand we really had which could arguably be a honeymoon experience here at sandalwood.
From check in to check out we had an experience that could compete with the very best out there to offer.
From personalised chauffeur service free of charge to local restaurants like the highly rated ‘Cliff restaurant’ to name one, to trips to Lamai and Chaweng Sandalwood offers it all.
Food, cleanliness, facilities, hospitality was impeccable with attention to detail on another level... from flowers being placed around your room to personalised phones being provided so you can contact the staff, drivers and even management if you want anything.
Management added a great personalised touch to the trip from chatting to you at breakfast, to showing you around personally and giving advice on local places and activities to do and see during your stay.
An amazing infinity pool with a view to die for and exquisite breakfast on offer added to our stay in the gardenia suite which had its own private jacuzzi with great views and privacy.
A sincere thanks from us to Robert, George and all the staff for an experience to remember 🙏❤️.

The villa had a really nice view of the sea because it's up the mountain, which made it a tad bit inconvenient, but they offered free shuttle to the central/beach areas in the day so all's good. The room is really clean and spacious, they provide numerous channels on their tv, and the villa we booked had the jacuzzi which had a seaview. The staff were really helpful, and they started serving breakfast before their usual hours as our flight was in the early morning. Would definitely stay there again the next time we visit Koh Samui!

One of the best villas we have been with. The staff is doing whatever they can to make you extremely satisfied. Breakfast buffet is changing everyday, the restaurant is providing authentic Thai cuisines, the spa service is professional and the price is fairly reasonable, and the transportation service is also superb. We would highly recommand this wonderful villa.

Beautiful hotel room but very disappointed with the food, our breakfast wasn’t fresh whatsoever... the pancakes were hard I sent them back, for uncooked eggs in return. Selection was poor and the food was all pre cooked possibly days in advance. We had dinner at the restaurant too extremely expensive and not worth it. My entree came out cold. It was not the standard of beef advertised and wasn’t at all worth the money. The pool and view was incredible but kitchen extremely disappointing for breakfast lunch and dinner!
