Hard to charge cell phones. Didn’t get our room cleaned, no clean towels , clean glasses and trash was not emptied. Not enough towels for the people staying in the room and the TV did not work.

We stayed only one night after our cruise and have stayed here before. Loved the rooftop pool area with its great views. The room was nice but the carpet in the hallway could use some attention. The location of this hotel is perfect, easy to walk to from the cruise terminal and also access to the trains and public transportation. We will stay here again.

This hotel is all about location, convenient walking distance to cruise port, restaurants, the rocks, and circular quay. In general, the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. The lobby is impressive but the furniture is worn. The room is small as might be expected for a historic hotel but the carpet is worn and dirty. It is reasonably clean but because of age the corners are dingy. The shower is in a tub with old fashioned mixing faucets. A mini fridge and tv are provided along with a kettle and instant coffee and tea. There is a rooftop pool with a killer view, minimal furniture and no shade. The staff are professional and accommodating. Would I stay there again? Perhaps due to the convenience but if I wasn’t taking a cruise ship I’d pay more to stay elsewhere.

The location is great. Nice to have a lobby bar. The AC worked. But the carpets in the hall and in the room were patched with duct tape or not patched and the floor boards were visible. It was hard to roll a suitcase in the hall due to the wrinkles on the carpet. Roof top pool had very limited seating and the hot tub needs to be replaced as it is barely warm and the jets don’t work. None of this should be a surprise to management as is painfully obvious.

The whole hotel was neglected and very tired and looked very dirty. The room was certainly dirty, the bath had a large patch of enamel or whatever the bath was covered in missing. And also looked very stained and dirty.

There was a few very bad stains on the carpet. No actual quilt cover on the bed just a quilt sandwiched between two sheets, very uncomfortable as the sheets kept falling off.

After a looong flight from Hawaii, stepping into the rooms in this hotel was very disappointing, to say the least. It hadn’t had an update or any TLC in ages and ages. I had to search for outlets (scarce here). It felt gloomy and old. Upside, the expensive breakfast buffet was fairly ok.

Bathtub was gross, needs to be redone. Carpet in hall & room is old, worn out, frayed. Horrible for luggage. Pool is tiny, not enough chairs on top deck. Rooms were air conditioned but lobby was hot & muggy. Restaurant closes early.

We booked a premium room which was pleasant and oversized but a bit plain. Overlooked an alley where a movie was being played at high volume (a special festival), but fortunately it stopped at about 9 pm. Staff were great. Excellent location, easy walk from cruise ship dock and great location from which to explore the city. Stairs from elevator to our room which was very inconvenient, but this only applied to some of the rooms on our floor.

We checked into the room and left the hotel after two hours. The room we are given (205) wreaked of mold as it was visible on the ceiling and around the A/C vent. The room we were moved to after complaining (420) also smelled moldy (albeit not as bad as 205) and the furniture was covered in dust. Both my wife and I developed headaches and were nauseous.

This hotel meets basic standards but not much else. The best feature is location, particularly for the cruise crowd. The cruise terminal is a 5 minute walk. Plenty of shops and restaurants are nearby as well as the waterfront. The staff is friendly and the rooms are pretty spacious. The beds and linen are clean and comfortable.
The hotel is old and very tired. It badly needs an update. The carpets and furniture are worn and soiled. There isn't a lamp in the room; all lighting is overhead. There is no full service restaurant or bar but plenty are nearby. The bathroom, bathroom fixtures and tub are right out of 1970. This feels more Holiday Inn than a 4 star hotel. At least Holiday Inn provides a free breakfast.
I expected a much nicer place for the price; you are paying for location, not a nice hotel.

The room is very dated. We left our bags and we returned at 6pm, our bags weren't taken to our room, and I know why steps to rooms off the lift are very difficult to navigate. Staff were friendly and location was fantastic. Over priced though low water pressure, shower over bath, very small bathroom and small room.

Also unfortunately a staff member charged an extra night’s accommodation after we had checked out and now have to wait up to 5 days for the refund which is very inconvenient as funds are very tight at the moment.

Great location. The room was clean and cozy. The staff were super helpful and stored our luggage for us before our room was ready and the following morning before our cruise so we could explore.

It's definitely in need of some updates, but has great potential. The water pitcher by the front door was very much welcomed after coming in from the airport. I would recommend single use cups or at least have someone grab the dirties every now and then. They seemed to be around for a while on a Sunday night and Monday morning.

Room was dated, carpet stained, furniture material stained. Room smelled moldy, we attempted to sleep but the mold smell was so bad I could not sleep through the night. My spouse additionally had a headache. I decided the leave the room for health reasons at 3:30 am. We went to the lobby and notified the attendant of the mold/smell issue at about 4:15am. They did not have another room. We checked out and slept in the lobby. There was no adjustment to our bill.

It was the best place to stay for Australia Day 2026 due to the view from the rooftop pool. Hot breakfast buffet was excellent. Staff were very helpful. I didn't give 5 stars because the phone system didn't work for incoming nor outgoing calls. The staff members had different stories about whether the phone system had a problem or whether that was how phone system worked. So, that is a disadvantage to an international traveler who wants to make and receive local calls instead of paying international roaming rates on cell phone.

Great location right in the Rocks and the staff are friendly but the hotel is dated. The room we had is tired and in need of a major upgrade. Toilet seat broken, bath enamel looks worn with silicone slapped around the edges encouraging mould. The air vent intake for the aircon system is clogged with dust bunnies and the furniture looks like it was picked up from the council throw out. Windows are filthy as well plus thread bare carpets.
If you’re cool with that you can’t beat the location but for the price you’re paying they need to do better.

The room was spotless. The view was city chic. Beatiful sheets, warm and comfortable.
The bed was huge, but a little soft for me. The pillows were not particularly comfortable, too soft. The shower was ok, nice hot water, but the water pressure was a little disappointing.
However, I'll accept my fairly minor bed problems for a 2 day stay when measured against the freindly, helpful staff, the lovely food and the perfect position.

Staff was extremely courteous and helpful throughout our stay. Lobby was clean with ample seating for relaxing. Nice lobby bar with a variety of drinks and food options. Beds were very comfortable. Carpeting and rooms are extremely dated and first room had horrible stains on the rug. Rooms were cleaned daily. The location is what makes this place worthwhile. Walk out the front door and your steps from an insane number of restaurants and pubs. French, Italian, Asian and local foods. Five minute walk to ferry system, trains and buses.

Although the decor is a little dated, this hotel's location is an absolute winner if you are heading out of Sydney on a cruise. Staff are very accommodating and check-in processes very smooth. We have stayed here numerous times and love its access to iconic views and great walks around the harbour and through The Rocks.

The hotel was okay, while a little dated. The shower/bath was adequate but the shower head was low (I'm 6'-2\"). The electrical outlets did not have USB plug ins. When I asked at the front desk for US adapters they were all being used by other guests. Had to buy a cheap one at a convenience store.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
The Hotel location was perfect for \"The Rocks\" area and all things were easily walked to, including the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and Cruise Terminal. I would stay here again, but would know what to bring next time.
