The Staff were amazing. Professional, polite and attentive. The property was clean and looked good. However, we had no hot water for showering. The rooms are not sound proof, you can hear a pin drop from the other rooms. The outside noise was terrible from the lane. I would not rate this hotel 5 star, nor would i recommend anyone to stay there.

Stayed for a week at The Establishment Hotel Sydney, and the rooms and staff are wonderful! Plenty of shops, restaurants and all the tourist sites within easy walking distance.

Clean room, good size, housekeeping did a great job, has a mini fridge, tub and nice separate shower and separate WC. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The only issue is that the room's floor was wooden with no carpet or rugs. As a result, you could hear the person(s) in the room above walking with high heels, and moving the chairs/table around, suitcases being pulled around, etc. Also there is a nightclub at the end of the same alley about 200 feet away, and we were there over a weekend from Thur. through Sun. Could sometimes hear the music and people's voices in the alley that also contained a very popular, crowded restaurant.

We stayed here for one night and would not want to stay for longer due to the noise from surrounding bars/entertainment which went on until 3am. The room was large with a huge en-suite but needs to be renovated due to deteriorating/broken floor tiles.

Terrible choice for our anniversary weekend. Photos looked amazing online but the reality was far different. Property hasnt been maintained well cracked tiles broken toilet roll holder and a bathroom door that didnt shut. Wood floors throughout meant you could hear everything so no privacy and meant a rough nights sleep. Lights on timers which we didnt know until they kept going out.
Also be sure to have a physical card on you for check in as they wouldnt accept a scan of a digital and forced us to provide $500 cash for a security deposit. Had we been told when booking this was a requirement we would have made sure we had it rather than beimg blindsided on arrival.

A hidden Gem in the heart of the city.. Amazing service from all the super friendly team… Rooms were a very good size and extremely clean… Adjoins a number of amazing bars and restaurants - including the famous Mr Wong’s. Definitely recommend a stay for anyone looking to experience Sydney.

Staff were great. room size was good. Noise was very bad with little to no noise insulation between the room and very large very loud bar which kept going to 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday had a wedding with live band running to midnight and Monday had nearby building works. If the owners could improve noise issues the Hotel would be great. Nicely furnished room with an excellent mini bar and sound system. Quite noisy as rooms are not sound proofed. Problematic hot water as takes about 3 mins to get hot and not much pressure. Nice bathtub but took too long to fill so could not use it. Mattress was a bit past its prime and the flashing smoke alarm was mounted directly above the bed so was annoying while trying to sleep. Woke at 7am on Saturday morning to the sound of a jackhammer in the laneway...but this was not the hotel's fault apart from the non soundproofed windows.

It was clear this used to be a lovely hotel, but it seems it has been badly neglected. Chipped bathroom tiles that could easily be repaired, rusted bathroom ware, doors don’t close, light swtiches worn and don’t work. There were spiders on the bed and seriously noisy neighbourhood with a loud club next door that played loud music until 2am, and after that the noises from delivery trucks and people preparing in nearby restaurants. We wanted to change hotels in the middle of the night as we were not able to sleep at all due to the noise and fear of more spiders that might crawl in bed again. Such a shame and disgust for a Merivale hotel which is supposed to be a 5-start hotel. I think they should shut down and renovate as they are misleading guests. To add to the bad experience, access to the hotel reception was hard to find. There should be proper access from the bar off George St or at least signs from George St leading to Bridge Lane. We checked in on a Sunday and the Est Bar was closed and we struggled to find the hotel lobby looking for signs from the Est Bar door but there was none! I gave my feedback to the reception staff, they apologised and said the next time I come back they will put me in higher floors. Note this is a low rise building and the only you won’t hear that noise is if you were on level 20 or higher! Absolutely lacking sufficient comprehension of the severity of the problem and our experience. Not good enough Merivale!

First the not so good stuff. At first it was a little bit hard to find the entry to the hotel lobby, need to go down an ally/lane. Definitely needs more signs and a sign at the lobby door. The room we got had thin walls, we could hear the people in our neighboring rooms talking, and also a bit of music from a bar or night club. The room itself was a bit outdated, could use a lift up. The lighting system can be a bit confusing, but once you memorised the buttons it wasn't too bad.
Now the good stuff, The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a nice old rustic feel to it, very moody. Hotel has direct access to 2 of the attached bars. And of course location wise, you can walk 5 minutes to anywhere, restaurant, bars, train stations, Circular Quay, and there's a light rail station next to the building.

The staff were incredibly kind and very helpful. There was nothing there would not do. The only problem I had was that the Property is quite noisy, I could hear people coming and going down the hallway as of the evening and early in the morning, and opening of other hotel room doors. This hotel is great and the staff were fantastic. Unfortunately it has really weird system for lights etc in the room and I couldn’t figure it out. It was controlled from a phone that wasn’t anywhere near the bed & was not intuitive. Nowhere in the room was it written how to dial reception, so I had to phone the hotel number on my own phone. I was then chided for not reading my welcome letter where, apparently, it was written. Just having dial 9 for reception written on the phone works for every other hotel in the world. That was the only problem. It is in a very convenient and surprisingly quiet location.

Unfortunately the hotel is in desperate need of a renovation especially for the asking prices! You can tel everywhere that this is well overdue and the photos must have been taken years ago when the hotel was still in good shape. Quite misleading.
Also DO NOT stay here if kyou are a light sleeper. You will not close an eye all night even during the week as parties are going on until the early hours of the morning.

We were there for the Taylor Swift eras tour and they even brought us friendship bracelets as a gift, it was such a sweet touch. The Staff & the facilities were great. However, coming by car from the country we found the signage to the Hotel too small & inadequate. It was difficult to find in the laneway & then unpack your luggage, get back in your car then drive to a parking station two blocks up in Pitt St. Staff did give directions over the phone but it was not detailed enough & even Google Maps was not accurate. However, this was a small inconvenience initially & the location of the Hotel was excellent for us to visit the Opera House, Art Galleries, Museums & Theatre. The staff were very friendly & made our stay very comfortable.
