The staffs are nice and room rate with breakfast was really a good deal. The location is quiet and has a near 7’11.

But the rooms are dusty especially under the bed and had a 10 minute walking going to the nearest train station. Not so ideally with very young kids or senior guest.

I stayed here for 10 days and got to know the hotel well. The hotel staff spoke English which made communication simple. The room was clean and got serviced frequently. The air conditioner worked well. The breakfast service was good, but I wish there had been more variety. The room did feel somewhat dated in aesthetic but it was comfortable especially the bed, which while firm, was great to sleep on and left my back feeling great. My biggest complaint is probably that there was no safe in the room, which I found to be inconvenient. One other issue was that luggage could not be stored under the bed. Overall, these are pretty minor issues and the stay was pleasant.

The room was dark, dirty and needed repairs. Peeling wall paper/cover, chipped and damaged furniture. The bed linen was filthy and stained.
I stayed at Wotif properties for the last month while I have been travelling and this property was well below standard. I left and booked in elsewhere at a huge expense and hope that I get a refund.

Great room for so cheap!

I lovedddd this place so much. First of all, super affordable, great location, quiet and a few blocks you have the nightlife. So much to explore walking distance. Bed was comfy, great customer service, super efficient. It was perfect! I would def come back here again. Great value price! I wasn’t expecting to be that comfy for the price to be honest. 10 out of 10

Property is a good 10 minute walk from the transportation system so if you are with luggage, it may be challenging.

Hotel Listel is a bit further up the street than other hotel options but is still really close to central Shinjuku, easily walkable to public transport for getting around Toyko and has lots of shops and restaurants on the door step. The hotel room was basic but still everything we needed for our stay. Staff were friendly, check in and out was easy and breakfast was delicious with lots of options! Would stay again!

Very close to no less than three underground stations. Shinjuku station itself something of a nightmare to negotiate, but the other two nearby stations are very easy to negotiate in order to board the Marunouchi line to Tokyo Central. The hotel is in a quiet location with a Family Mart and 7-Eleven just down the road, and an easy walk to many shopping and food areas. The staff had a very good command of English and were helpful and pleasant in every way. The rooms are small, of course, but, hey, this is Tokyo. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The option of breakfast was a good one – very reasonably priced and a good selection of Japanese and western choices. Don't expect soy milk or margarine – Japanese hotels seem to be a mainstay for butter and dairy milk, so vegans could perhaps take advantage of the 7-Eleven to top up on supplies. All in all, a very pleasant introduction to Japanese hotels and recommended.

A fairly old hotel with old furnishings that has seen better days. However, if you are not picky about the interior, it is a reasonably comfortable stay here. Shower room is adequate, hairdryer and kettles are provided. We got the free breakfast which was simple but filling. The reception staff are friendly, and are able to communicate in English. Word of advice - try and get the non-smoking rooms - the tobacco odour of the smoking rooms may be rather unbearable for some. We stayed in the main building, and it was an overall pleasant stay for my elderly parents and I.

Transportation-wise, you may need to walk about 10 minutes to reach the nearest metro stations. There are some eateries nearby, though probably not as robust as downtown Shinjuku itself, which is about 15 minute's walk. There are plenty of convenient stores around the hotel - all within 5 minute's walk at most from the lobby.

1st Tokyo trip in 5 years and the hotel's great!

For my first trip back to Japan in nearly 5 years this hotel was amazing. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly with both Japanese and foreign staff to facilitate a smooth check-in and check-out experience. As an example, I requested an extra pillow on my second night and by the time I got back to my room it was already there. The complimentary breakfast buffet was a great way to start a day of travel around the Shinjuku area and beyond and also a lovely example of a Japanese style breakfast. The cleaning staff were extremely attentive as well, I saw them interacting with guests from Korea and Europe and they were as kind to any of them as they were to me (an American). Without a doubt a 10/10 and I will surely consider the Listel Hotel Shinjuku branch for a future stay in the future should my travels bring me back to the Shinjuku area!

Enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Close enough to the public transit as well as the nightlife of Shinjuku. Room and bathroom were clean. Only issue at times was the wifi, for some reason wouldn't work that well on my phone and had a very small range, plus would sometimes just drop out on my computer. Worked well enough for work but could be better.

A great place to stay

This is a terrific hotel. It is centrally located and very convenient not just to all sorts of activities in Shinjuku, but the greater Tokyo area in general. It's comfortable and very clean. I wish that I wasn't on a smoking floor (I wish that smoking wasn't allowed, period), but that's the only thing I'd change.

Quit a distance if you walk from the train station but we managed to find it. So make sure you have pocket wifi so that you can look for the location on the map.

Good/alright for the price and hotels in Japan

Room was Japan hotel size which means small. This can be bothersome if you have large suitcases especially when opening and unpacking. Room was a little old looking however everything was functional. Double room that my friend and I stayed didn’t have that many outlets, charging was slow, and room key or anything else to substitute had to be inserted for electronics to be charging. Lights were not that bright at night but weren’t needed due to sunlight in the day time. Staff was nice and helped with directions and amenities in hotel. Also if you needed taxi service. Also allowed us to checkout and leave our luggage supervised in the lobby after check out time. Only downsides were that the hotel rooms were through the annex- which was like through the hallway opening, small parking lot, and then to the otherwise of hotel with automatic glass doors that you would open with room key to elevators that take you to room. A little walk from station 10 min, near the hotel there was a building under construction, no disturbance at night and there were safety guards, a little walk to the Shinjuku crowded area with all the shopping and restaurants. Robot restaurant 15 min walk. But you get to see some of the smaller and quieter streets walking to hotel. Near concvience store 7-11, near a couple vending machine, some smaller local restaurants not all targeting tourists. Good for my friend and I traveling in Tokyo Japan.

The staff was polite and helpful, and knew a good amount of English. Our room was clean and well-furnished with a couch, though the bathroom was strangely elevated above ground level with a ceiling too low and a shower curtain not wide enough to block all the water from getting out during a shower. While there was WiFi, it seemed to cut out intermittently, though this seems to be the case for most Japanese hotels. The thermostat can be controlled in the room, for those who run particularly cold or hot. Although the walk from the station is not terribly far, the road leading to and from is not the most well-paved. All in all it was not bad, especially for the cost.

This is a great hotel, the location is quiet and everything is very clean and well kept, even though it is a slightly older hotel. The rooms are small, but its Tokyo!! About a 10 minute walk to the nearest train station which was really good. Fantastic food choices on every nearby corner and a 7/11 right across the street. Very happy with our stay, definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Utilitarian 3 star hotel near Aikido Hombu Dojo.

The staff are conversant in English. The only thing disappointing , like in most Japanese hotels, is that there is no early check-in.
