The staffs were very friendly anytime of the day.
The only thing I’m not a fan of were renting out towels for 200 yen and making your own bed on your first day (I was at the top bunk). But no biggy. People were nice here. You’d see the staff really deep cleaning the bathrooms and showers too. You can also always go the cafe for drinks and they also have food. If you’re in a budget, Lawson and 7/11 are very close - maybe less than 5 minute walk. Easy walk to the station too.

We had a family room. Space was good, except toilet and bathroom were shared. No towels provided so bring your own or pay 200yen for one. Need to make your own m bed as the hostel will provide the sheets and mattresses. Mattress was thin and not the most comfortablw. Plus side, very new SHINJUKU!!

Imano is a cozy, well run hostel that is impeccably clean. The beds are comfortable. The women only floor is secured with a lovely common area and a fridge.
Imano was the first hostel i ever visited 3 years ago and i will gladly visit again.

With the money you save staying here you can head to the super sento (3 mins walk) and relax after the day walking Tokyo.

Closest station exit is Shinjuku sanchome E1 which also has an elevator (close to golden gai).

Stayed here for one night and it exceeded my expectations. When you walk in, the front desk staff is very friendly and the cafe vibe is so fun. I stayed on the female 3rd floor and it was so clean and a great vibe. There’s plenty of bathroom and showers so that was never a problem.
They sell basic amenities for an extremely low price. Towel, pjs, tooth brush and toothpaste all for less than $6 USD and free slippers.
The bunks have good mattresses and the AC is very good. There’s a fridge in every dorm area but there’s a more equipped kitchen on the 5th floor. Great location for late night eats and close to all the fun and shopping. Thank you for everything Imano Hostel! (:

This is definitely hostel-style lodging, but it is perfectly adequate for the price you're paying. The beds were quite comfortable! I happened to be with respectful roommates so it was very quiet. It was clean and in a very convenient location.
We arrived early and they were willing to store our luggage until check-in.

The accommodation was perfect for the price. Comfortable bunk beds, great shower, clean, hot and strong pressure.
Other guests were quite and considerate.
We had a private 4 bed dorm for our family. Convience store very close by, yummy breakfast to buy, good atmosphere in the reception area/cafe. Small laundry facility with directions to a bigger one if you need to wash more.
We had a great stay, walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars.

One of the best for this type of accommodation.

Very good for this type of accommodation. More social than many other hostels, but open bunks and lack of lockers come with the usual issues of having a very loud snorer in your room or someone who spreads their mess of stuff around the limited floor space.

The place could use a good refresh of the facilities like a coat of paint, but overall I rate the place highly. Due to the staff. They were excellent, very knowledgeable in providing pleasant top notch service and support for anything.

Would stay here again if my preferred type of accommodation (full height cabin style pods) was not available again elsewhere.

Convenient and clean location (~5 min walk to Shinjuku Sanchome Station, 1 train stop from main Shinjuku Station), nearby convenience stores (Lawson, 7-Eleven and Family Mart), staff very friendly and helpful. Really appreciated allowing me to have my packages delivered to the hostel. Moderate sized cafe/working area in the lobby. A slight commercial feel given the volume of beds on each level, fair given the proximity to the CBD.

ハワイから来たので、日本の温泉初めての我が家の子供達も大満足のお風呂でした。私としては広告だらけでちょっと疲れる内装でしたが。
レストランの朝ごはんを美味しく頂きました。九人という大人数でのテーブル準備もすぐにして頂きました。
徒歩圏内で簡単に行けるレストランがないことが減点理由ですが、その分バスのルートもスケジュールも充実していることは特筆に値すると思います。

I prefer this hostel than some capsule hotel because you have more room to move about and there are privacy as every bed has curtains. Nice amenities but the hairdryer is not free to use. Very clean and I like the idea of common area at entrance where you can hang out and socialise with other solo travellers. Good tight security with the door.

The customer service here was exceptional, the people at the front desk were so friendly and fun too. There was a basic breakfast of tea, coffee, toast and cereal in the communal space where I met some really nice and interesting people also staying at the hostel.
The room beds were comfy, but the noise does travels s it is a concrete building, so I would recommend earplugs.
There was a social area on the floor I was staying on as well with showers and toilets. All very clean.

Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Location is good, not far from the subway and the Shinjuku madness. As with all the hostels I've used in Japan, the place is extremely clean, and wifi works really well. The cafe is a nice little hangout place with good food and happy hour from 5-7 (draft beer JPY390). Lockers are in the common area outside the room (free to use but JPY1000 key deposit). The street outside, and the hostel, both pretty quiet at night. Definitely would recommend.

Best hostel I've been to!

This was probably the nicest hostel I ever stayed in! Everything was very clean, and I think the simple but stylish design definitely helped it feel so.

Although there's bunkbeds I've not had a problem once with anyone shaking the bed. I was staying in the men's floor and there was a bath as well as two showers, and although it might seem like there's quite a few people able to stay on each floor, I've never had a problem with washing.
The breakfast is a toasty, granola and tea or coffee, etc, so maybe not the kind of breakfast buffet people may expect, but it's nice nonetheless, and there is a convenience store right down the corner!

The staff was super nice and helpful. I tried to practice some Japanese with them personally, but they speak English very well. Probably the best English speaking people I've met on the entire trip!
As far as I've seen they're all young people and are very friendly.

Lastly, the area is very good. There is a metro station in walking distance (3-5minutes) and even though the hotel is in Shinjuku and close to nightlife, it's also right outside all the bustle and junk of nightime Shinjuku which I really appreciated.

The only downside was not having a secure place to leave my luggage. I've been able to leave it at a friends' airbnb, and I doubt anyone there would've stolen it, but if you really want the extra security I'd say find a place you can leave your bigger luggage away, because the place is definitely worth a stay!

The staff were very nice and that was the only positive thing about this hostel. Unfortunately the interaction with the staff is very low so I would have preferred rude staff and nice hostel versus nice staff and not so nice hostel. In the six people room there was very little space in the bed, I had to place all my electronics on the bed because the hostel didn't provide any additional shelving space. Additionally it was very dusty and the walls were very creepy with holes and cracks everywhere

The property was situated in a great location - close to the heart of Shinjuku. The train station was a brisk 10-15minute walk with key hubs such as the Golden Gai and shopping streets an easy walk. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The cleanliness for a hostel was second to none. I would comeback in a heartbeat and highly recommend to anyone looking at hostels in Tokyo.

Located around the outer Shinjuku area, this hostel enables you to visit the main area within minutes. The front desk seconds as a cafe and bar, and the hostel hosts an event night every night. My room was shared with 10 other guests capsule style. Space was manageable but it can get quite tight at times. Showers were great, providing strong water pressure and as much hot water as you wanted. The toilets in general were very clean during my stay.

Imano Hostel definitely exceeded my expectations, and for the price is an excellent choice.

The beds could be comfier: I could still feel the wood pallets underneath the futon or thin mattress they had and woke up with aching lower back pain. I love the common area in each floor since it's where I mostly hung out in the evenings and got to chat with other ladies (I was in the females only floor). Overall, I love the layout of this hostel and would definitely return here.

Small room which block by wall concrete

1. The corner room provided to me is much more smaller than other, almost half of the room space blocked by the wall concrete. It is too hard to come down or go up from the stair and you can easily fall down!!!!! (head blocked by the air condition and ceiling). I almost fall down and my new shirts hook and tear by the stairs because of the limited space. The lower deck guess told me that previous guess also felled down before I check in. This kind of corner space shouldn't rent out to guess.
2. All the safety boxes on my floor are locked for no reason, I informed the staff but he told me go to next floor safety boxes, what kind of solution is this? Doesn't bring any convenience to me.
3. Lack of toiletries and amenities.
4. Noisy guesses which make noise at late night.

Great Value and friendly

The staff at this hostel was very friendly and accommodating. If you fly in before checkin they will hold your bags if you want to hit the ground running without dragging it all over town. Breakfast was well worth the $6 and they make a nice cup of joe. The facilities were well kept and all the furnishings looked new. The only thing I feel could be improved was the mattress. It is pretty thin, however I just slept on top of the comforter and was fine. Also there are two stations and convenience stores close by. This hostel is well worth your time.

Hostel that ticks the boxes

- front staff are welcoming and happy to help including with directions!
- 6 bed dorms are quite small, with hardly enough room for bags. Bags are kept next to bed in walkway which for a person at the end of the room, you will have to jump over everyone's stuff and keep excusing yourself
- 4 (or 5?) dorms of 6 share the bathrooms. There are a few showers and toilets but you may have to wait a while during peak periods to get a shower
- I was in all female dorm, and there is signs saying female only and that there is security monitoring. However some girls brought boys in and there was not any security to monitor this. Each bunk only has curtains around it so not sound proof or private and people did get asked to be quiet .
- the area is only a short walk to food shops and family mart. There is a JR line close by but take note of which entrance you go in because the station is huge and easy to get lost if you go out of different entrance.
- overall, hostel is clean with what you need and a good spot to get around tokyo from

Great location, good rooms (although not very spacious and can be noisy due to other guests), surprisingly comfortable pillows. Showers were okay, not amazing. Staff was nice and helpful. No free toiletries or towels, as far as I could tell.

Nothing is extraordinary but the location + the fact that everything is good enough, really sells this. I extended my stay by one night because of how convenient it was and how nice the staff were.

I will sum up the experience ; staff were amazing facilities clean and open access at all times . I was sonimpressed I was first time to Japan and ever in a hostel and felt Like I was missing out on the best travelling experience ! They make an effort to include you in fun social events or help you find any activity you might want to try ! Decent place to stay, has room for improvement.

Having stayed in Japanese hostels, my expectation has increased significantly - in general, Japanese hostels are a solid tier above Western hostels.

Cleanliness: 3.3/5 (room), 4/5 (bunk)

Fresh sheets, decent bunk. Clean toilets which is fantastic. The room itself has an unpolished concrete floor so flip flops may be needed.

Customer service: 5/5

The staff is friendly and willing to help. No complaints. Hostel security looks fine.

Bed comfort: 3.5/5

Not the most comfortable for a bunk bed but it's decent enough for a short stay.

Facilities: 3.5/5

Decent breakfast (extra charge, 600 yen), safe boxes outside the room provided (extra charge only if key is lost) There is a bit of social element that the staff tries to incentivise (eg/ origami night, games night). No drunkards, bad smell or altercations). Location is pretty good in Shinjuku, it is close to the city but not enough to drown itself in city noises - safe place, far from the shady places like Kabukicho (try not to walk around too late around this place).

Feedback to the Owners:
No major deal breakers. A polished floor would be more comfortable and cleaner. It would be better if the safe box is in our bunk for convenience and privacy. Bed upgrades!

Hostel with great location

hostel is a 10 minute walk to shinjuku station. 5 minute walk to a temple and 1 minute walk to a 7/11. I would say the bed comfort is pretty bad and the showers are cramped. No locker or storage for your suitcase. Beds are noisy and if the other roommates are dirty the whole room will be smelly. At the end though you get what you pay for and you most likely won't be spending a lot of time there so..yeah that's all I have.

There are enough toilets and shower rooms. Never saw people queuing for one.
The water pressure of the shower is excellent. There is also a bath so that guests can experience the Japanese bath.
My room is at the end of the floor so there are space for us to open luggage.
Change of clean beddings is offered if you stay for 4 nights or more.
Nice staff.
Smooth check-in and check-out.

Suggestions:
It would be prefect if there are water dispensers with cold and hot water on each floor. Guests can only get hot water from the kitchen on 5/F and get iced water from lobby. For me who prefer warm water that is a bit troublesome haha.

Conveniently located hostel

It's not a bad hostel at all, but it was definitely the worst I stayed at in Japan. The main issue was with noise in the room. Every night I was there there was noise late at night, like 1am. I think maybe extra signage would help. A lot of other places had more sound/light proofing than a thin curtain which did not help. I also had issues with roommates leaving blood tissues etc on my stuff. The place doesn't have a great atmosphere compared to others, the only communal area is literally the cafe, and you can't eat external food anywhere. The staff also couldn't locate my mail I pre-arranged to have sent to them so I missed out on a data device I was paying for daily for a whole day which was annoying. Great location only 10 or so minutes from Shinjuku attractions and good transport links. I recommend the Japanese breakfast.

Poor sound proof

You could hear the voice of people chatting outside your room. There are always inconsiderate people talking loudly in the common area even after 11pm.
Rooms are very small.
I would not stay in this hostel again.

Modern hostel with nice design

Stayed for 4 nights. It is more convenient to exit C7 from shinjuku-sanchrome stn. The bed is quite spacious. There is also ample space to store luggage at the side and area to hang our stuff as compared to other hostel I stayed. The only gripe it was quite noisy during midnight as other people from other rooms were chatting despite being 1 or 2am. The staff should supervise and monitor noise levels.

Modern hostel in great position

I stayed for three nights with my daughter in a private room. The hostel is an easy ten minute walk from Shinjuku station. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak excellent English. The cafe near reception is a good meeting space especially at night over a sake or beer! In the morning they offer a ¥600 buffet breakfast which is great value. Certainly recommend to all ages.
