Good hotel when internet works

I was given a wonderful room with a great ocean view on a upper floor. I had a couple of minor issues with the room that were not the fault of the hotel and they were promptly taken care of.
One that I did find that was unacceptable was that the internet went out every single morning. I notified hotel staff 4 of my 7 days about this. 1 day it was immediately fixed and I received a call from the front desk telling me that. The other 3 day the front desk staff acted like it was something that never happened before. As someone who was traveling alone from out of the country. I relied on the hotel internet to communicate with in country friends who were coming to pick up. Needles to say that on my last day. The internet didn't work, I notified the front desk staff. 2 hours later there was still no internet. I had to turn my roaming on on my phone. This cost me extra money and frustration.
The evening shift front desk staff were an absolute treat. They were so nice and helpful. I can not say enough good things about them.

Best Barra Location!

We stayed here a few times already because it’s beachfront and close to lots of dining options, groceries, and pharmacies. Comfortable room with king size bed and gorgeous views!

I had to replace room keys twice as they won't open the door, finally, I was changed to another bedroom.
Staff looked like overwhelmed.
I paid for breakfast at the restaurant, it was not bad, but expensive for the quality and variety of food.

I checking 8:00 PM on Saturday . Expedia didn’t sent anything to the hotel with my payment and the receptionist was ask me about my email confirmation. I wasn’t suposse to confirm that . The Expedia supposed to sent my reservation to them. The guy was rude with me. He sad if I’m not showing the reservation i ll be charging at my credit card the full amount... he went to my door and said that. I never had problems like that to checking at hotel’s. Any way...

The Hotel is in a Nice quiet area, the Beach does not get very crowded, the Balcony Ocean Views are great. The Hotel does not have in room coffee makers, They do not have in room nor do they have Ironing Boards and Irons. There are a lot of local food places one short walking block away.

We we greated with the absurb parking value of 100 reais per day. To leave baggage also 10 reais. Front desk reception was poor as they looked irritated. Room was ok with good view. Breakfast needed more options for class of hotel.

Great location, great surf.

The hotel was in a great location with miles of awesome beachfront. We came primarily to be near to surf breaks in Barra but also experience some good nightlife and local food. It was out of the hustle and bustle of Central Rio but close enough to access the all the good tourist spots.

Couple of things. No rewards program. Second. No free internet. They charge you a hour rate or a day rate of 30 reals. And last, they are doing construction and renovating rooms. So you if you want a new renovated room you need to be higher ....And you don't want to hear the construction.

Sights and location close to business meeting.

The hotel's location was great; next to restaurants, and right on the beach. The service of the staff was good, but at check-in, the front desk could not find my reservation so I waited 30 mins. The room was comfortable, but the shower had mold, and my dirty towels were not replaced the next day by the housekeeping staff. Breakfast was good, but I was unable to remove coffee from the breakfast room. Listen....I'm paying $250 a night for a room with mold and re-used towels, I'd better get to take my coffee anywhere I want in this hotel. The pool and workout rooms were better than I had expected.

Convenient for business in the Barra

Hotel staff was courteous and attentive when needed. Hotel is in a safe area and the surroundings are relaxing. Ocean front rooms have a nice view. Hotel air conditioning in common areas was either turned off or not working making for a very hot and humid experience in the lobby and hallways. This is not acceptable for a Fifa approved hotel. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection of fruits, breads, cakes, as well as eggs and sausage.

Air conditioning in public areas of the hotel was not working and the lobby area, halls, and other areas of circulation were very hot and humid. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average for Brazil.

Great Breakfast, far away from centre

It's great view from the hotel. Room was big and clean. My partner and I had a king bed room. But it is a bit far from Copacabana beach. About 12 km and taxi cost around R$30-40. Do not use hotel's own transport. They charge R$60 to Copacabana. Yellow taxi is available right outside the hotel and it is much cheaper.

EXTREMELY RUDE FRONT DESK PEOPLE!!

Our check-in time was 2 PM and we arrived around 1PM due to our flight schedule. We anticipated the wait for the check in time and were perfectly fine with it. There were 3 guys at the front desk and we were simply told after we gave them our reservation name that \"you have to wait till 3 PM\". After waiting for about an hour at the lobby and witnessing every person who came in after us get a room, I decided to ask about our reservation . Once again, in a very rude manner, i was told by the guy at the front desk \"you have to wait till 3 PM\". I showed him that our check-in time was 2 PM and not 3 PM, according to our reservation and he said the same thing again with a bigger attitude (I guess that was the limit of his English vocabulary). The gentleman was so rude that while \"talking at me\" another employee said something and he turned his back to me to speak to his colleague. At that point another guy at the front desk took over and we had a room within 5 minutes (go figure!!). Our experience at the hotel went from bad to worse and all related to service, from having us and other guests walk thru the garage entrance and use the service elevator (there is no pedestrian service entrance) after a walk on the beach. The location of the hotel is OK, however, in all of my travels for business or pleasure, i have never encountered such a lack of customer service, specially in a hotel in a beautiful place like Rio. The bed in my room was terrible. The mattress was broken and uncomfortable. I requested another room or to replace the mattress but no one seemed to care about. That was the lowest point of the hotel. On the other hand, the shower was excellent.

Difficult for Business

I was there for 9 days so I got a good feel for the hotel. They could not get the internet to work via WiFi for my room. I ended up having to set up downstairs every night and do my work and business e-mails from the lobby. I also had a light out in the bathroom that took 3 days to repair.

Not a good experience during my last business trip to Brasil. Internet didn't work, many people complaining and the hotel didn't do anything about it.
Asked for a wake up call and I had to go downstairs to wake them up!

Needs more attention.

My telephone did not work the entire time I was there so I had to go downstairs to let the front desk know that my room did not have a blanket on the bed, there was a pillow case missing from a pillow, the safe would not work, and of course the telephone did not work. That was never fixed. After waiting 30 minutes for someone to check the safe and then another 30 for them to try and figure out what was wrong with it, I finally had to leave as I was late for a meeting. The next day the front desk told me there was an extra charge to use the safe, something that would have been nice to know. The room is pretty spartan and needs some comfortable touches. Staff is pleasant and location is on the beach so that's good and the breakfast was good. They did refund my money when I checked out 2 days early.

Beach is great, but everything else?

We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and had enough, and definitely won't come there again.

There are three nearby restaurants which were very good, but the food at the hotel was terrible. Especially coffee. Undrinkable. Instant coffee was MUCH better by comparison, and that's saying something.

The reception staff was unresponsive and sometimes downright rude. Laundry service is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Fifty reais (30 dollars) for a pair of pants. Sometimes the prices went up to 80 reais per item. At those prices you might as well buy new clothes, rather than wash.

The maid service was extremely spotty and inconsistent. Sheets weren't changed unless explicitly asked.

On top of everything, the key to the room stopped working almost every day.

The guy at the reception desk could not find our reservation and gave us a hard time (i.e. he wanted to charge us a second time!) before he finally let us go into the room. The room safe was not working and the floor had not been cleaned before! So, the start was bad!
On the next day, he had found our reservation. However, no apologies were made.
The hotel was ok but the prize seemed to be too high for the service provided. The location, right opposite of the beach, was great, though!

We enjoyed our staying a lot. This hotel is very well located, the front rooms have amazing views and the staff is very polite and responsive. The rate was very good to what the hotel offered. Included breakfast was a feast, with many options (self service) to choose from. The rooms are \"no frills\" but have all amenities we wanted, and what a view! Overall, we think it was excellent to stay there

Great hotel...

Royalty Hotel is was generally speaking a great hotel. Customer service was excellent. Breakfast Buffet was really good. The hotel is located in front of the beach with a great view. The hot tub did not work properly and did not have hot water. Across the street there is a firefighter and lifeguards station with a helipad. Sometimes they have a helicopter taking off and landing throughout the day so it can be a little noisy. They let you do early checking before 200pm but will charge half day using their rates not orbitz. We paid a orbitz one day rate for their half prize. This is really important to keep in mind because most of US airline carriers arrive early in the morning to Rio da Janeiro. In sum, it was a great experience staying in this hotel and I hope to comeback someday again.

Foi um dos piores hotéis que já me hospedei. Chegamos e o atendente da recepção é super grosso, ríspido, nem olha na nossa cara. Além disso, tudo é cobrado, tudo, até a mala pra vc guardar, caso não esteja ainda no horário do checkin, tem que pagar. Pra fazer o checkin antecipado, mesmo que o quarto esteja disponível vc tem que pagar 400 reais. Também tem que pagar 400 reais de caução pra caso vc quebre algo no quarto. O café da manhã é o pior que já vi. Pouquíssimas opções, o ovo mexido parece mais sopa de ovo, só uma água horrível. Se vc não for cedo, vc pega uma fila imensa pra poder tomar café, pq o local do café é pequeno para o número de hóspedes.
O que o hotel tem de bom? A vista, somente! Isso pra quem paga pelo quarto com vista que foi o meu caso, e é bem mais caro. Mas de resto nada vale a pena. Não me hospedarei lá novamente. Tem outros hotéis muito melhores na mesma localidade.

A principio na recepcao fomos muito mal atendidos, a recepcionista estava num mal humor, nos atendeu com rispidez

Pelo valor da diaria o cafe e de baixa qualidade, mexido de ovo tinha casca do ovo pelo meio, copos para suco e agua nao estavam bem lavados, o pao de sal de uma baixa qualidade, servir apresuntado, nao tinha um tipo de queijo branco, pao de queijo, bacon, pao integral, o minimo que se tem em qualquer outro hotel pelo valor de diaria bem abaixo.

O bom e a comodidade do hotel ser beira mar, ter bares e restaurantes proximos

NÃO RECOMENDO. A experiência foi péssima, especialmente pelo atendimento. Os funcionários não são cordiais, e a gerente, então, extremamente grosseira e arrogante. Além disso, o check-in era às 11h, mas às 9h já ligaram para o quarto perguntando se eu sairia no horário ou renovaria a diária – um total descaso com o descanso do hóspede. Foi uma experiência frustrante e decepcionante. Definitivamente, não voltaria.

Falta de respeito e consideração.

O Royalty Hotel possui excelente localização frente ao mar da Barra, na praia do Pepe. Uma ótima piscina externa com serviço de bar. Alguns pequenos problemas como chuveiro que dispersa a água, colchão de molas e estacionamento extorcivo de R$ 85,00 a diária, não são seus maiores problemas.
O grande problema foi a falta de respeito com o hóspede no Check Out. Às 10:15h, recebi uma ligação da recepção para informar que minha diária vencia às 11 horas. Ao indagar qual seria a minha tolerância para deixar o hotel, fui informado que não havia tolerância e que o horário de 15 horas às 11 horas do dia seguinte esta afixado no site do hotel e que, portanto deveria ser considerado desta forma.
Ou seja, o Royalty transformou uma diária que deveria ser de 24 horas em apenas 20 horas e se recusou a me dar alguns minutos a mais para que eu pudesse usufruir dos meus últimos instantes no hotel com a calma que eu gostaria.
Em outros hotéis a diária é de 22 horas (14h às 12h) com tolerância de saída administrada conforme à necessidade do hóspede.
Literalmente, fui expulso do hotel ao receber uma ligação às 10:15h da manhã. Sem contar a falta de sensibilidade do atendente da recepção que foi muito desrespeitoso com um hóspede de 68 anos.

Acho um absurdo um check in ser só as 15h e o check out as 11h. Normalmente eh entrada as 14h saída as 12h.

Ótima localização.

Ficamos no hotel 3 diárias, fomos com um grupo de 30 pessoas. O prédio está em manutenção de pinturas, acredito que, por esse motivo a limpeza do apartamento deixou a desejar. Nossa televisão não estava funcionando, solicitamos visita técnica, que foi atendida no dia seguinte, depois de repetirmos a solicitação. Trocaram por uma nova. Mas o que nos deixou indignados foi a cobrança de R$ 16,00 por uma água quente para o chimarrão, que deveria ser paga na hora, não podendo ser debitada juntamente com as despesas do apartamento.

Ótimo lugar para se hospedar. Apenas um adendo o banheiro possui pouca luz próximo ao espelho para que nós mulheres possamos nos maquiar, além disso nota 10!

Pior experiência com hoteis

Estive hospedado no Hotel Royalty recentemente e, infelizmente, minha experiência foi bastante insatisfatória, principalmente em relação ao processo de check-in. Ao chegar, enfrentei uma longa espera, pois a equipe não conseguia localizar minha reserva. Para minha surpresa, a atendente que estava me atendendo abandonou o meu caso e deu prioridade a outros hóspedes, o que gerou um constrangimento ainda maior.

Após uma espera de mais de uma hora, sem qualquer explicação ou atenção adequada por parte da equipe, fui finalmente atendido. No entanto, ao final do processo, não recebi nenhuma oferta para compensar o péssimo atendimento que experimentei. Essa falta de consideração por parte do hotel é inaceitável, e certamente não condiz com as expectativas que se tem de um estabelecimento que preza pela qualidade no atendimento.

Espero que a administração do hotel possa rever seus procedimentos e a capacitação de sua equipe, para que outros hóspedes não passem pela mesma situação desconfortável

A localização do hotel é o seu ponto forte! As instalações são boas, porém todo o hotel é muito escuro, do quarto a portaria! A cama e chuveiro são bons, mas as toalhas estão finas de tão usadas, precisando urgente de troca. O café da manhã, deixa um pouco a desejar…tem o básico, mas nada excepcional.

Claramente o hotel prioriza a economia ante o conforto dos hóspedes, no quarto em que eu estive o ar condicionado splinter é controlado por um termostato na entrada do quarto onde não é possível desligar a luz de LED e esse termostato desliga o ar condicionado sempre que a temperatura é atingida, de forma que liga automaticamente e faz bastante barulho para ativar o termostato “estalo” e o próprio ar com aquele sinal sonoro tipo quando está ligando, além de que a condensadora produz bastante ruído e fica instalada na sacada. Estacionamento demasiado alto custo, no período de eventos eles cobram 150,00 a diária e não oferecem manobrista. Exceto raras excessões, os funcionários não sorriem e não cumprimentam os hóspedes nos corredores, o que faz total diferença em qualquer estabelecimento. Ponto forte do hotel é a localização do mesmo: frente à praia do Pepe e no início da Av Olégario Maciel que é onde a vida noturna acontece na Barra da Tijuca, da pra ir a pé e caminhar pela avenida.
