The only reason anyone should stay this property is the convenience of its location - everything else about UPAR Hotels was horrible to the point where we checked out a night early to go stay on the floor of a friends apartment.

For starters, the staff at reception was exceptionally rude, especially the man who works the night shift. During our check in, we were treated with complete annoyance and being asked irrelevant personal questions. Our asks for extra towels and hair dryers were completely ignored during our stay.

The property itself was disgusting - the cleaning staff did not clean the bathrooms at all. The showers were disgusting and the rooms had garbage in the corners. The tipping point, however, was the number of rats we saw during out 2 night stay. Due to garbage being left out on the common area floors, we saw many huge rats running around outside our rooms and fighting over garbage that was left by the cleaning staff in the open for many hours of the afternoon. Our friend who stayed on the floor below us said he heard rats running around through the walls and ceiling.

To add to the above experiences, the toilet in our bathroom randomly stopped working. After a whole day out, we came back to our hotel to discover the flush was not working and were given no explanations on why and no one sent to fix it.

Overall, please do not consider UPAR Hotels for your next stay. There are other hotels in the area for the same price that do not have rats running around.

what do you want me to say!? I notified the hotel regarding the sudden death of a family member and would not be able to visit Bangkok at this time and was hoping any refund would be helpful for my situation but of cause there's no respond at all after many attempted to reach them. heartless hotel management.

The only good thing about this hotel is the price and location. I have honestly no idea how it qualifies as three stars or where all the good reviews came from.

First, the room is nothing like the pictures, is much smaller, and quite dark even with all the lights turned on.

In terms of cleanliness, there weren't any major issues, but the place really did need a good dusting, particularly in the less easy to reach corners.

A few parts of the room do need replacing / fixing such as the safe which had parts that would fall off it, the mirror with large black stains, and Aircon which only has one setting - arctic gale.

Staff were pleasant enough but not helpful. For example when asked questions, such as good places to eat nearby, I was just told to go walk and find something - all with a big smile of course.

Biggest problem by far however... the hotel is guest friendly. What that means for those unfamiliar with Bangkok is that a guest is welcome to bring other people back to their room free of charge.

So I spent three nights listening to some of the ladies that Thailand is infamous for very noisily entertaining their companions until the early hours of the morning. With walls so thin, it's no wonder I didn't sleep well.

So if you are looking for a hotel which does not ask questions or offer judgement this is a place for you.

On the other hand if you have any class, taste or moral standards then I suggest you find someplace else.

We booked this hotel for three nights to see Bangkok prior to heading south to the beaches. The hotel is slightly off the beaten path but close to night life and the BTS skytrain (5 minute walk), a 7-11 right next door and a nice supermarket 1 block away. We found it very quiet and super clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Couldn't ask for anymore, very good value for the money. We ended up booking it again before our flight out of Thailand.

I paid when I booked the room online, but the hotel charged the room rent again when I checked in. Obviously the hotel made a mistake, I need to call hotels.com twice and wrote to my credit card bank to ask for help. I spent one month to get my money back!

The room was too small, have difficult to move around, the first night I didn’t sleep comfortably because the bed covers was too short and when I asked, he told me that I am tall but the bedcover was not fitting either the bed . The following morning I complained to the manager and was given a cover which fitted my bed and I was able to sleep comfortably. No telephone in the room to communicate with reception, you have to make all your request to the reception. Otherwise our stay was okay.

This place was a great place to stay. Conviently located near the BTS and walking distance to a lot of places near by. The hotel was clean and lovely. The staff was incredibly helpful - Eric in particular helped us with a kurfufle surrounding our lost airline baggage. We would not have gotten it back without his help!

Ok in a pinch.

When we arrived at check in, there was a problem with the room we were going to be given. The staff asked us to wait, and ultimately provided a different room. Once arriving at the room, we noticed that the room needed to be updated, and the walls needed to be repainted or wallpapered. There were stains all over the walls, not just in the room, but also in the common areas as well. These stains appeared to be mostly scuff marks, but really detracted from the cleanliness. Also, the shower valve was backward from what was shown (hot was cold and cold was hot). The area is good with a mix of bars and restaurants and decent access to Nana BTS station. That being said, the photos did not represent what we received. Overall, for the price it was ok for a night or two.

The ovation it's prime in soi 11, we love a bar that's about 1/2 block away from the hotel, (Havana cafe) there is a 7/11 nexxt door for any needs and the place is clean and comfortable, which is all I ask for.
Comfortable bed, nice service and overall a good experience. I will stay there again every time I feel like a night in town and dancing, to be able to walk back after party it's perfect for me.

Nice for the price!

My 5 nights at Smart Suites were nice and hard to beat for the price. The room was a little small but clean with excellent air conditioning, English language TV options, a fridge and safe. A short 5 minute walk to restaurants, bars, clubs, Sukhumvit Rd, metro station and lots of street food around. Overall good fun!

Tucked away but relatively close to Makkasan

I only booked in here because I had a 1 a.m flight the next day and needed somewhere to base myself from lunchtime to around 10 p.m before getting the airport train from Makkasan.

It was adequate for the purpose I have detailed above but it isn't somewhere I would stay for any other reason. If you're on a tight budget it is ideal if you want to explore Bangkok with train links being within a 15 minute walk. If you're looking for luxury & a pool then it's not likely to be for you.

I needed hotel close to Embassy. this one is in Sukhumvit and handy to food outlets and 7-11. Staff were very helpful, price very reasonable and room clean and comfortable. Funny having a support pole between bed and window, but it was no inconvenience. Bathroom clean and heaps of hot water. Free drinking water in fridge.

Very good if no convenient place to stay. All mod cons very in good shape and very nice welcoming staff. There's a 7-11 right next door but other places to eat are not close. This place is near the end of Soi 11 so be aware you're in for quite a walk. There are laundry place near by so that's a plus. Also there is a side street that takes you straight to Bumrungrad Hospital if you need it. From Nana 3 it's the side street that's directly opposite the hospital. Don't use if you have lots of luggage! A nice place to stay if not quite near all the action. Would gladly stay at again.

Good location at the end of soi 11 - close enough to all the bars, restaurants etc without hearing the noise from them. 10 min walk to the BTS. Rooms were clean; ours was a bit cramped but I think we got unlucky because our friends rooms were all bigger. Would definitely return.

Is good in case you just need a room to sleep in Bangkok for 2-3 days and if you are stopping.

We used this hotel in the past for the price really cheap and the location but don’t expect luxury.

We stopped in Bangkok for shopping in the markets nice good restaurant around where also locals eat I recommend fresh grilled fish everyday!!

8 night stay. Local taxis make noise the hotel from 10pm-5am every night due to the local nightclubs. On day 3 my bed was made with a stained sheet that the hotel said was caused by me and wanted to charge 3000 baht cleaning fee which I refuted and refused to pay. Upon checkout I was asked repeatedly if I smoked in my room, which I do not. The room had cracked walls, a strong toilet smell, noisy room door. The room windows would not stay open due to previous damage. WiFi speed okay. 7 eleven located downstairs was poorly stocked had to go to another one many times. Good aircon however condensation has damaged the walls. Very small shower space making it difficult to get in and out of the shower. I am not a big person. There are many hotels at the same price in better condition. Recommend this hotel only if you cannot find anything else.

Worn Out Hotel - Indifferent Staff

Well, it started with a less than warm reception at check in. The room was very small, plus it had a large post right on one side of the bed, making it difficult to get around the bed. The walls were dingy, the wallpaper was peeling, the flap that oscillates the air on the aircon was missing, a random framing nail nailed into the door trim of the bathroom door.there was black mould in the shower and several brackets on walls that used to hold something, but that something wasn't there anymore, and lastly many gross stains on the curtains. Housekeeping didn't replace the bottles of water after the first night. Reminded them to do so, as well I reminded the front desk and both forgot.

After check-in, I asked for a different room, to no avail.

The bed was \"ok\" and the property is in a good location.

So disappointing based on the photos of the website. I imagine this once was a nice property, but that was many years ago, and time and outright neglect has taken it's toll......

The bad: shower handle broke, Windows are dirty, overall condition doesn't look clean, staff speak little English, there's a price list for things you need to pay for in case you break things which is unnecessary, stingy on towels, we only got 2 and nothing else

really good for the price paid.

I found the bed more comfortable then most of the other hotels i stayed at in my time in Thailand. The mattresses are usually all firm so it was good that i could sleep a few hours without getting back pain. It was easy to check in and out and they took care of the cab for me to the airport. I would stay here again.

It isn’t the first time I’ve stayed and it won’t be the last either. Great location on Soi 11, easy stroll to Sukhumvit and all that offers Soi 11 is great, plenty of bars and places to eat even if a third of the lower part is undergoing building work. No building noise etc. at the Smart Suites end of the Street.
The reception staff are always friendly and courteous. I was only staying for one night as heading back to the airport, needed to be out by 6.30am, asked if they could give me a call at 6.15 to be on the safe side. No phone in the room but a member of staff knocked on my door at 6.15 as requested. Great budget hotel and facilities are very good, clean and comfortable

we enjoyed our stay but the hotel was in real need of a fresh coat of paint. the pictures do not match what you will get, rooms are more simple and minimal amenities. good night life and a light walk to the skytrain. the staff are friendly but not very knowledgeable in tourist information.

Small & Quiet Hotel

It is a bit far inside SOI-11 (NOT VERY CLOSE TO SUKHUMVIT) ..It is quiet ,clean ,with safety deposit box inside the room.The room is small ..I arrived in the morning ( around 11 AM) and the receptionist told me to wait until 2 pm or to book a different room for additional 500 baht (for the three nights i originally booked) ,so i decided not to wait so i can take a rest.I like to follow the international news like CNN ,BBC...etc. Unfortunately ,they do not have that ..There is a 7-11 store next to the hotel ..Overall its ok but there are cheaper hotels with more convenient locations..

Had an overall good time on my short stay. Spacious enough room, bathroom shower area, very comfortable bed and located conveniently in the slightly quieter part of soi 11- a 5 to 10 minute walk and you are right in the middle of action. Nana station close by so commute by sky train easy. A good place, considerate staff, attractive rates!!

We had booked a deluxe room for two nights, but the deluxe room was not available when we arrived at hotel. The lady at reception offered us an inferior room for one night with promise to shift to executive room next night. There was no option to cancel the bookings as we paid the amount while booking. The promise to shift to executive room was not kept and there was no refund for the difference amount moreover there was no apology.

Booked for two nights- drove for 4 hours after a full day at work. Arrive at the hotel exhausted ready to sleep but the hotel was missing my one and only requirement- parking! Which they said they had. They expected me to park my rented car on a very busy, narrow road for two days. Then I check my phone- have an email saying they had a glitch and I can have to find somewhere else- even though I had payed and they emailed at 5pm the day of check in. Even stranger when I go in they have my booking printed and it's on the system- no idea what I'm talking about. Expedia rang them and they don't have parking and couldn't give me a room anyway. This was a no cancellation or refund hotel, so you expect the same from them. Leaving a lonely female stranded in Bangkok with a car illegally parked while Expedia sort it out over a two hour call in the heat. Not impressed with them at all.

Modern hotel with nice but compact room, small bathroom but good size shower and powerful hot water, good size safe in room, kettle tea and coffee provided. The location of the hotel was fine for me, walking distance to plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, markets, Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. No pool, balcony or view.

We stayed 2 nights here absolutely overall it wasn't bad for the price. There was a 7-11 right down the street. The bed was so hard but that's typical of Asia. The room was very very small but suited what we needed it for. Bathroom was clean but again small. Staff was helpful and nice :) would stay again.

Amazing surprise

Fantastic customer service, Fred (front desk) was friendly and courteous. I chose this hotel because I see very good reviews online and I can guarantee they are really true. The hotel is clean and pretty new, the bedroom is nice and super clean, the bathroom is clean and spacious. I strongly recommend it.

Quite nice small and not too expensive Hotel.

Poor description of locality. Taxidriver did not know where you are. Kicked us out and we had to look ourselfs and to walk the long way to the Hotel with luggage. Total assessment between satisfactory and good.

You get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for. It was relatively clean but the rooms needed attention. I'd I were a group of friends traveling this is a great place. We are here on a honeymoon. We switched hotels for our last night in Bangkok.

Great Value for Money

I stayed here a few nights with some friends while we were traveling around Thailand. It was about a 15-20 walk to the nearest station or a quick taxi ride away. One day we were getting an early bus to Kanchanaburi and the receptionist helpfully booked us a very swish early taxi pickup to take us to the bus station. All round - good stay.

Good location for price

I feel bad complaining about this hotel because obviously you get what you pay for. It was very well priced and in a good location. However, it was pretty gross. The shower and bathroom were covered in mold, which made me question how clean other parts of the room really were. Rooms were small but that's all we needed. Luckily we only stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip. Staff were friendly but that didn't make up for how yucky I felt. There are SO many hotels in the area- I would go somewhere else next time.
