The staff at this hotel are very helpful and friendly, especially Sophie, who's absolutely lovely. It's in a quiet, safe neighbourhood just a 5 or 10 min from a shopping centre and metro station. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hostel was just off the centre of Budapest, but there were still plenty of little cafes and bars, it was just a 10-15 minute easy walk from Deak Ferenc, the centre transport area. It was lovely and clean and rooms are set around a little courtyard. Staff were very helpful and our room had great facilities including air conditioning, a safe and a kettle for hot tea and coffee. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was a bit worn - doors and furniture in need of some renovation/repair, but otherwise I have no complaints. Room was cleaned daily, bed was comfortable and windows opened. A quiet residential type of neighborhood with nearby coffee shops, restaurants and delis. The room would not be updated enough for some but it didn’t bother me, especially for the price. FYI you do have to climb a short flight of stairs to get to reception. All staff was helpful and can get your laundry done for a fair price. When I first arrived, I was a bit unsure as it was dark on the street and the signage wasn’t clear. You are buzzed in and walk up the stairs to reception so you need to handle your bags I felt very safe- you need a key to access the outside door, then again to access the hallway and again to get into your room. I would definitely return.

The hotel is a gem. For something so affordable, they really pay attention to the details. The location is excellent--it is on a very quiet and peaceful street near restaurants that locals go to while also being close to tourist attractions and tourist nightlife--also a 10 minute walk from bus to airport. The rooms are clean, service excellent, and there are lots of nice touches--towels folded into swans on the bed, special glasses for brandy/cordials... I highly recommend it. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe in the hotel and getting to and from it at night.

Felt clean, could be a little more modern, but did not feel like a problem since we were only there to sleep after exploring all day. Wifi worked.

After long search, I found this hotel (Central 121) which is located at H-1085 Budapest ,Maria Utca 10 ( first floor with no lifts). Although I booked flight and stay via Expedia, I was surprised to hear from the Hotel Manager that my booking was cancelled because I was expected to arrive the day before!. He claimed that he wasn't informed properly by Expedia of my booking itinerary (flight and stay)? He kindly directed me to look for vacancies at other hotels nearby but didn't make any effort himself to help. He informed that he refunded booking money to Expedia after deducting for one night stay. This was not a good welcome news and has caused me a lot of pain, suffering and trouble looking for another hotel to stay at extra costs as I had no help from anybody at all. Therefore, I'm in process of complaining to Expedia about their booking arrangements and what followed afterwards at Central Hotel 121..

This is a great little hotel. It is really good for the price you pay. The staff (Aron specifically) are wonderful people and incredibly helpful. The location is great- bus/tram a few minutes walk away, and it is really centrally located so not a long ride to anything. Lots of great food near by too. It was quiet at night. My only negative thing to say is there is no elevator and if you have a lot of luggage like we did, then the room is a little on the smaller side. Other than that it is great. We enjoyed our time here and recommend it to everyone.

Superb hotel in great location.

I rarely comment on hotels, but this hotel was fantastic. So comfy and clean. We were lucky we stayed in the garden area. Staff polite and very helpful. Location is great easy walking to main town and around 5 mins to nearest train. Which if you buy the 72hour pass includes all travel.

My only small comments would be a curtain above door to block out extra daylight.

Some English breakfast tea in room ;-)

Somewhere to put \"things\" in bathroom. Very small area above toilet.

But i would stay here again!

LOW TV VOLUME

When we arrived my parents tv volume would only go to 15. After telling the front desk were we informed that all the tvs were programmed to 15, which wasn’t the case because our tv went up to 30 or more. My father is hard of hearing and nothing was done to provide a louder tv, accommodate them to a room with a louder tv or was any compensation provided back for this situation. Only the garbage was taken out of the room and the coffee was replenished.

The Central Hotel 21, was a perfect stay for our break in Budapest. The rooms were clean and always warm after a cold day out. The only downside we found was the Tea and coffee provided in the room and would recommend taking your own, as the options are fruit tea and 2-in-1 coffee sachets. Although the hotel is not right in the centre of Budapest it is within easy walking distance. It was ideally situated to get around the sights of the beautiful city.

We liked the Hotel as it was clean and suited our needs for a short break . The hotel staff were extremely helpful and recommended places to visit as well a local restaurants and bars which we found we very good.Although slightly further away from the inner city, the liberty bridge was less than a 15 minute stroll. From here you could walk along the bustling shops or visit the indoor market which must not be missed.

The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in my lifetime. Unbelievable. Missed a full morning of tourist sights because the bed was too comfy I didn't want to get out.
The gentleman on reception who checked us in was incredibly helpful, gave us many tips and recommendations.
If you have mobility issues the reception and ground floor rooms are up one flight of stairs, but as it is a historic building, this is the same for many of the central hotels. The rooms have a plain neutral decor so don't reflect the historic style but were spotlessly clean and spacious.

Typical Budapest building with pretty internal courtyard. 24 hr reception, very friendly, helpful staff, will print out tickets and boarding passes etc. Luggage room for last day. Slept well, very quiet apart from the odd late returner but not an issue. The bathroom was small but always cleaned daily. Towels changed every 3 days.

We spent a few nights in this hotel which was comfortable and convenient for us. It is not within the city center, about a 20 minute walk to tourist destinations. It is about 10 minute walk to the clubs/bars. Our room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Good breakfast for 6 gbp. Hotel has a small lobby/bar. Only down side was that the wifi did not always work for us in the room.

the location and staff were wonderful. the room was very clean and a good size. however the beds were 2 single beds pushed together (our booking specified a king bed), and the quality of one of the mattresses was poor (woke up with a very sore back). the linen, while clean had a lot of stains and when I requested an extra pillow (to support my back on the bed) they didn't have any to spare. Just to ntoe, while we didnt ask for assistance on this, and im sure it would have been readily given, the room was very warm and stuffy even with the widow open. I would stay again, however I hope the things I have mentioned above will have improved.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in

This hotel is fantastic from start to finish. The staff are so friendly and knowledgable of the local area which is great for tourists. The hotel offers so many services such as tour bus tickets, airport transfers, luggage storage and boarding pass printing which are all made accessible by a 24 hour reception. The hotel is secure with a fob to open the front door as well as a safe in the room. Because this is such a small hotel, the staff can see to the needs of each guest individually which is rare with most modern hotels. The room was well decorated with lots of storage areas and a good sized bathroom. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Budapest who doesn't mind a 10 minute walk to the centre.

A bit overpriced for what it offers

Hotel is convenient, centrally located, easy to reach, but I was expecting something more in terms of quality/space when i booked. Rooms are small, bathroom only offers soap (no shampoo/bath gel), small things that someone limit the rating in my view. I feel i may go to a different place if I'm back in Budapest

The city is not very close but can take a taxi which is very cheap. There are restaurants and shops near-by. Curtains were not closing fully (not long enough), particularly annoying on the first floor where people could see us. Had to put pillows and bags to fully cover the windows. The bed was 2 singles and OKish but not great. There were 2 duvets that were rather thin, felt a bit cold in the morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful though.

Very basic accommodation and small room which smelt of smoke despite it being a non smoking room. Carpet was dirty and stained. Bathroom was very clean but small.
The reception area/bar was disappointing; not very comfortable to sit and relax in of an evening as there were no bars around the local area to spend the evening. They ran out of Baileys after the first evening and hadn't got any more in for the next night. Bottled beer ran out too.
Staff were excellent.
Breakfast room was so small we couldn't get a table so had to come back later. By 9.00 am there was hardly anything left to eat; no eggs despite breakfast supposedly being available until 10.00 am.
Staff in the breakfast room worked very hard.

Charming low profile hotel

We stopped in Budapest for a short stay on our way to Spain. The central hotel 21 was a great hit. The room was small but clean and comfy. Internet worked perfectly. We could park the car right outside the hotel in their underground parking. And they accept pets, the main reason why I chosed this hotel, as we are travelling with our dog (Labrador). The area of the hotel is very nice too, and we could walk everywhere in the center.

Efficient transfer from the airport arranged at extra cost by the hotel. Check in very efficient and staff very friendly and informative. Room very well presented and clean. Little noisy at times through the night. Little out of town but accessible for everything. Food and drink markedly cheaper around the hotel than in the centre.

How Could You Not Rate it Excellent?

I found Central Hotel 21 at 7pm after realizing that the hotel I originally booked didn't exist. When I arrived, they made a cup of tea for me and showed me to a beautiful medium-sized room in the inner courtyard: air conditioned, queen sized bed, full-sized bathroom, and very clean. The bed mattress could have been a bit more comfy--but for about $44 US (67 GBP) who could possibly complain? The hotel is located in a relatively quiet area with many little pubs and restaurants. It's safely away from the tourist area, but still within walking distance.

The night I arrived, I had a small medical emergency and the gentleman at the front desk helped me to find a doctor on a Sunday night who agreed to see me.

Highly recommended! I'd love to go back and spend a week there.

The hotel is nice. The only bad experience was that I got rudely yelled at in Hungarian for attempting to eat breakfast there. Although it appeared to be complimentary, Apparently one was supposed to pay for it despite there having been no instructions or signs to that effect. Aside from that, the room was attractive, quiet, and clean, and the desk staff were friendly.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Location is near public transport. Staff speak good english and always there ready to assist when you need something. Room is clean and have all basic necessity. One thing thou, need to climb some stairs in this building but its manageable. There are rooms that dont have aircond so make sure to ask for one if you need to. Nearby in walking distance dont really have much choice for food so just need to take tram 1 or 2 station and will have more options in eatery place.

Really pleased with the hotel and the staff. The staff there are extremely friendly and helpful and were always there to assist if we had any queries. Our room was located on the ground floor which was great for when we came in late we didn't have to go up the stairs. The room had 1 single and 2 singles put together to make a double, tv and a bathroom with a shower only. Th hotel was comfortable and located in a central location where we could access the trams, metro and buses.

I would definitely go back there.

Stayed at this hotel recently on my first trip to Budapest. The location is very good and near to the metro and tram networks, there's plenty of decent eateries nearby. The staff here are very friendly and helpful indeed and nothing was too much trouble, the room was spacious and the bed comfortable, the only slight gripe with the place was the lack of a shower curtain which led me to flood the bathroom, but at the price I got the room for I was prepared to accept that, I did point it out to the staff on check out who were great and in the process of addressing the issue,

I would have no qualms at all in staying here again.
