I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. There is a personal touch to this boutique hotel.
It is close by to Nanjing Pedestrian street without the hustle and bustle of the shopping street . It is also extremely close to a metro exit (within 2 mins walk) and next to a huge mall. The room is clean and extremely spacious for 1 to 2 people stay. The bathroom is excellent with separate shower and toilet and a bathtub as well. I would definitely consider staying in this hotel again.

The hotel is honestly beautiful and it was in a great location, right near the People’s Square and Nanjing Pedestrian Street. The room was large and they were kind enough to give us a free upgrade at checkout, perhaps because of my member status with hotels.com.

However we found the staff to be borderline rude and unprofessional (aside from cleaning and housekeeping staff who were always so kind and courteous). Anything you asked (even if it were something as simple as where can I exchange money) was met with a sort of exasperation or annoyance. It got to the point where we put off asking anything because we didn’t want the same reactions.

Additionally, we went during the autumn but it was still warm outside (averaging around low to mid 20’s). It was so warm in our room but we were told that the air con would not cool because they switched it off as it was cold outside. So that was that. And we were forced to sleep with the windows open all night just to get a bit of fresh air, even then our room averaged around 26/27 degrees on the thermometer.

Whilst it is a stunning hotel with most of the right components to serve as a hub for your stay in Shanghai. For the money you’d be paying, I would personally opt for a different hotel, such as a known chain. At least there you know that you’ll get the service that you’d come to expect of a 4/5 star hotel.

The Yangtze is a great hotel. This is our third stay here and we are going back next week before our trip ends.

The staff are all very helpful. Our flight arrived early in the morning and we were able to leave our bags with concierge until we could check in properly.

Our room was a really spacious room and the bath and shower area was big! The bath itself is huge and really deep (we don’t have a bath at home so we really appreciated it).

One minor issue with the turndown service, they only turndown one side of the bed, but there was two of us so one of us was left out every night.

Overall, a very comfortable hotel and very well located!

A nice hotel

We had a suite with a balcony.

The room was nice and clean and the bathroom had a deep tub and a Japanese toilet which we always love in hotels.

It was about a 10 minute walk to the Bund and the streets often have murals which is interesting and pretty.

Breakfast had a choice of local and western foods.

The metro is literally across the road and we used it to go everywhere.

People Square is a 5 minute walk. It was always busy with lots of people with laminates (I learnt from our reception that it was grandparents with details about their grandchildren- rather like real life Tinder!!)

Theres a big Mall at the end of the road by the Metro station.

Good location for shopping and eating and visiting the bund. Staff are helpful too. Only problem is some rooms only have a deep soaking bathtub and a rain shower above. Not convenient for the elderly or those who prefer to use a shower head.

The staff of the hotel are welcoming, helpful, informative and attentive. Few minutes walking distance to the train station and few convenience stores around the hotel. A lot of local small eateries surrounding the hotel. Conveniently located in between Shimao Shopping Center and Raffles City Shopping Center. The hotel rooms still need a bit refurbishing as it is dated, however it is still acceptable as they are clean, useable and spacious.

Large room with super huge bathroom. However, water pressure in shower was weak. When bathtub is being filled up (which takes ages), the shower cannot be used cos no water. Room too dimly lit. Beds felt worn. The room was very quiet. Superb location, just next to Nanjing pedestrian street. Plenty of dining options and cafes around. Hotel breakfast was in a cosy room. Whilst food selection is limited, the quality is good. Bfast also serve local noodles which is really delicious. Staff very attentive and helpful. They were friendly to chat and offer tips on where to go. Overall, excellent stay.

The hotel is located at a very convenient location, metro is just across the street, Nanjing east walking street just a short 5 mins walk and raffles city shopping also just across the street.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Only thing is the hotel is a tad old.

Gem in Shanghai

Very good hotel close to Nanjing Road for shopping in a good area. There is a mall with a foodcourt across the road and a fantastic Cantonese restaurant on the bottom floor of the hotel (not part of the hotel). Many local restaurants to try out with all the types of food you can think of. Fantastic location. We liked being close to Nanjing road, but not IN it.

The hotel is directly opposite People's Square metro station. Line 2 from this station goes directly to both Shanghai airports and also the High Speed railway station at Hongqiao. Very easy to get to if using public transport or if planning day trips to neighbouring cities.

The only thing is that the aircon does not work very well. The staff put an extra freestanding fan in our room for comfort, but we wish the aircon just worked properly. Hotels in this price range should not have an aircon problem.

The amenities were very nice and the bathroom fantastic, with a huge bathtub and large separate shower. Overall the room was large and we enjoyed having a little balcony.

Breakfast is average - only had it once.

Thank you again to the staff for hosting us. We had a great time here. Thank you to the doormen who were always very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Nice boutique hotel in great location. Ray the concierge was fantastic, very helpful and friendly with good English. Excellent breakfast. Our room was very nice but the aircon wouldn’t drop below 22.5 which was a bit hot for a comfortable sleep in the heat of the summer and the water leaked from the shower into the toilet area making the floor very slippery.

Not a five star hotel but the venue was fantastic

My son saw a big cockroach in the toilet at the lobby.

No assistance provided for carrying luggage into the room despite being a five star hotel.

The welcome drink and dessert was mediocre - turned out to be juice made from syrup and two types of cakes which tasted full of artificial flavouring.

Staff at the breakfast venue provided great service although the food selection was limited.

Absolutely excellent hotel, easily the best I’ve stayed within Eastern Asia. Staff at door and front desk were lovely and accommodating, even receiving a free upgrade for our stay. Front door man was always willing to order our taxis and have a morning chat. Cleaners did an excellent job. Room was lovely, free mini bar highly appreciated. Is in excellent walking distance to every major attraction, masses of shopping and restaurants within a short distance. Location was always bustling, as most of Shanghai is, but you couldn’t hear any noise from the rooms. Everything about the hotel was ideal, however the excellent location comes out on top! You are really in the heart of the city and we frequently walked a maximum 30 mins to all our daily activities. We stayed for nearly 2 weeks and didn’t want to leave! Would definitely recommend and would absolutely return again if in Shanghai.

The night duty manager was very helpful during my 1st night checked in. We had problem with aircon in our room and upon noticing that my wife and me were exhausted after long journey to shanghai, she immediately check for other available room. We were given an immediate replacement of room.
Im grateful to her as we stayed in the hotel for 8 nights. I will definitely go back to stay in Yangtze for my next trip to Shanghai.
The breakfast could be improve further though.

Loved this hotel. Real character, excellent location, very comfy bed and great service, can’t complement the staff enough for their service and the robot room service bringing ice - amazing! It is indicative of the sense of style and eye for detail that the robo- server was dressed in a traditional Chinese waistcoat! But the best of all- what a bathtub- luxurious wallowing! If I had to add a criticism the rooms were a little overheated and the air on didn’t seem to regulate - but easily solved by opening the windows and turning off the ac!

Besides the fantastic location smack in the city centre and train station, the hotel condition and staff service is of top notch quality. I didn't know that they are no longer managed under the Langham brand, but this local brand is also upkeeping its reputation from the former Langham. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who has the additional budget to spare. However, pls note that there is no private drop off area, you can request the concierge to hail a cab for you or you can also hail a cab/car from Didi, they can stop right across the hotel for pick -up and drop-off. I would like to give my gratitude to the hotel staffs; Alan & Leo for their great assistance.

Excellent service and friendly staff willing to help with booking the city sightseeing bus tickets and guiding us to the bus stop. They also helped with double checking our flight details in the chinese language website to make sure we went to the right airport terminal.
Both the bedroom and the bathroom are big in size and are incredibly clean. The best in cleanliness out of all the hotels I’ve visited.
The only thing that was surprising when we arrived was that there was no taxi parking area directly in front of the hotel, so we had to get out of the taxi and cross the street to reach the hotel lobby. The hotel staff was quick to cross the street and help with our luggage though so it wasn’t much an issue.

convenient with the metro on the same street of the hotel. Really centrally locates. You can walk to the Shanghai museum and also to the Bund. Nanjing street is a block away. Service was superb. Our concierges went out their way to help arrange transportation and guided us to the best place to visit. Ray was superb in helping. He actually went with us to the Jan our cruise made sure we got tickets and waited for us when we got off. What service !!!! Allen also helped tremendously. He mapped out our every move for us. Thanks you both.

They gave us a wrong room type which was cheaper than i paid. They also lie us about the room type and i asked for the refund but they refused. They just offered free breakfast and extra bed for compensation which was very worthless because i planned to eat outside with my friends. Wont come to this hotel again! Bad experience

I booked shanghai grand room but they gave me the wrong room which was smaller and cheaper than i paid. They just said the rooms were full and can't offer anything else except free breakfast and extra bed. It was very unfair to customer since i plan to eat outside that were more delicious. So they had no responsibility to their fault. Very disappointed with this hotel and better try other hotels nearby.

I liked the hotel.breakfast was pricy.there are 2 restaurants very close that have good brealfast .i liked the shopping centers all around.i ate at the food court most of the time,being alone.took the big bus tour,and the city tour from the radison blu.loved going to pudong island,and seeing the great buildings.shanghi is a beautiful,modern city.great pastries everywhere.

I got first a room on the fifth floor, it was smelling very much of smoke, also the corridor, even though the hotel is a non smoking hotel.
I asked to change the room, which I could do immediately.
Excellent staff, perfect service.
The position is very good. A lots of Shoppingmalls, Restaurants etc just around the corner.
I would choose this hotel again for my next stay in Shanghai.

In a decent location, not far from a large pedestrian shopping area. Hotel room was clean and comfortable, but somehow the hotel feels like it was once nicer and more high-end than it is now. Restaurant/bar area was deserted (so it felt odd to be the only 2 people there), yet service was not very attentive there. Front desk and door staff were friendly and accommodating, however. It is more of a \"no frills\" hotel, but safe and comfortable and quiet for a night or two.
