Lovely location in the Tuscan countryside. Rooms are large & some are located in the main historic building but are in need of updating. Excellent breakfast with large choice of sweet & savoury items & large car park. Added bonus dogs are allowed for an additional cost

The staff is extremely friendly and that's what keeps us coming back. The accommodations are extremely comfortable. Thank you for the ac! The breakfast has lots of great options, and the fresh scrambled eggs are delicious. We always enjoy dinner at their restaurant as well. Can't wait until our next visit!

This is a family owned and run hotel with wonderfully hospitable and friendly staff and owners. The owners are there all the time to greet and serve hotel guests. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had a great view from our window. The San Lucchese restaurant is 5 star ! Very good food, wines and service! We love seated outside on its patio with beautiful views of the vineyards from our high hilltop location. The hotel is very well located and we can get to many different attractions in the region within 15-25 minutes drive. We loved it so much that we extended our stay longer. Definitely highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a secluded gem away from crowds and stress.

We were actually travelling by train and foot but anyone that doesn't like walking it is 30mins from the Train station up a big hill. Not a issue to us we knew before we booked (the hotel will book taxis if needed though).
Been up a big hill of course means the views in all directions are spectacular, loved it.
Restaurant is also very good so no need to go anywhere else after a hard day visiting the Tuscan sites.

A beautiful hotel running by the family, has a pool, tennis court. Room and bathroom were a bit small, but comfortable.
The staffs are very friendly, helped us with a few things. Nice breakfast with some local cheese bought freshly, they greet you every morning and have a small chat with all guests. Dinner at terrace with a beautiful view, food are delicious and prices are reasonable for the region.

Quiet Time at an Older Property
This is an older property that has not been updated since possibly when it opened -- 30 years ago possibly. The owner told me but I forget exactly when. It was comfortable enough. We had a bigger room and that was nice and it is clean. The owner was very nice but it is not my idea of a resort. The pool though is lovely. The food at the restaurant was average - for breakfast and for dinner.

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting! Stunning views surround you. Everything you would expect in Tuscany. The hotel and rooms are very traditional and clean. The grounds are amazing. A very relaxing place. The staff is wonderfully helpful and gracious. The restaurant is by far the best food and service we experienced in Italy. I would strongly recommend this hotel. Historical villa hotel to explore Tuscany
First built in 1267, if only the high walls in this historical refurbished boutique hotel could talk. Large rooms and common areas delightfully restored to their former glory, this is an ideal place to venture out and explore all that Tuscany has to offer. We were off season so it was more like a B & B for us with the Ninci family caring for our every need.

Fantastic Family-Owned Estate with Amazing Staff
Beautiful property with large rooms, parlors, great staff, great restaurant, etc. We arrived late and the kitchen was closed, but they made one call and re-opened it for us and served an amazing meal with late night enthusiasm on a beautiful deck. The rooms were large, nice baths and very comfortable beds. We wanted to stay another night to relax by the pool and enjoy the wonderful grounds, but they were booked so we had to move on as this was a last minute booking. Great breakfast in the glasshouse. Quaint and quiet as it only has about 20 rooms. We had 2 rooms (one for kids and one for us).

Wonderful Villa
We arrived at Villa San Lucchese by way of our car rental. I was so relieved to have been able to leave the sea of people at the Florence train station, pick up our car rental and with GPS in hand, make our way to the beautiful hideaway located on the top of a hill overlooking the fields of vineyards and olive trees surrounding us. (Access to this wonderful Villa is indeed most simple if you have a vehicle on this part of your holiday.) We were pleased to have meet the owners at the reception desk. How lovely it was to immediately have shared some common ground, as they had visited different destinations in Ontario and Quebec, Canada and were in awe of our glorious changing colour of tree leaves.) Now .... back to the glorious experience of visiting San Gimignano which while being but 8 kilometres away on the GPS ... the winding roads and enjoying the beauty here that is Toscana. The breakfast at the hotel, the information provided by the front desk manager, and coming home in the evening to a delicious array of dishes prepared by a most talented chef and friendly table service staff and dining room manager was all together an experience that was wonderful. The kindness and desire of all of the staff to make our experience a most pleasant one could be sensed at every interaction. At the same time, the villa felt like home. The pool and ease of access to buy treats was the most relaxing way to spend the hottest time of the day. Tutto multo bellissimo!

Serene and beautiful. Great location for visits to nearby sights, though you need a car even to visit Poggibonsi. Very relaxing poolside, and staff are superb, and English-speaking.

We had a wonderful stay here for 5 nights. The staff was the real gem of this hotel. They were so friendly and helpful. We had some issues with the WiFi when we got here but they fixed it for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and the view amazing. The breakfast is tasty and they make a killer cappuccino. Our room was perfect and very clean. Maybe having a few more english tv channels or pay per view type tv would have been nice for downtimes but at least we were really up to speed on global news since the only English channels were CNN and BBC. If we ever come back to Italy I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. There were other couples we met from North America that were here for their second time. Due to the location (on a hilltop just outside of town) having a car is the way to go if you are staying here.

A Wonderful Treat
It is a wonderful location, very convenient to the Tuscan region. The room was lovely. The bed was especially comfortable. The breakfast was typical, but had a few special treats. But the best thing about this property is the kind, friendly, cheerful staff. Everyone we came into contact with of the staff were wonderful. We will definitely return, hopefully in the Summer to enjoy the pool.

Came for leisure and as a first visit in Toscana, looking for relaxation. The team gave very good advice about the sightseeing around. The building has history and the owners do enjoy their place and want to make you share their appreciation and succeed in making you feel at home. Definitely a place to return and recommend!

Our only suggestion is a little upgrade to the furnishings. Otherwise, a very nice place to stay. We got a nice big room for four of us, which is sometimes hard to find in Europe.

Great Hotel for your Chiante region and Siena Tour
Had a great stop for 3 nights at this Hotel. We got down at the Poggibonsi station and had a difficult time getting to the Hotel as all taxis have to be reserved upfront at this place. Although the hotel was just 1.8 kms away from train station, It was through the highway, which meant it wasn't a walking route. Fotunately we had a local number that we had bought a railway station for 20 Euros. We called a cab and got to the hotel. The hotel looked great and homely. It had a lot of area, great valley view and small park. It was walking distance to poggibonsi fort. The room was big and roomy. great minibar, a Jaccuzi in the bathroom. Breakfast was great, and felt homely. The free Wifi had decent speed.The hotel staff were very friendly and helped out in identifying places to tour. We had a great time.

Wonderful staff! Beautiful views of Tuscany and close to many vineyards in Chianti and Montepulciano. Very nice pool and delicious breakfast. Perfect place to stay. Family members have also stayed in the same hotel and had a great experience as well.

Hotel Villa San Lucchese
Lovely hotel in well kept grounds, tidy manicured gardens and pool area. All of the staff, from reception, cleaners, restaurant staff all went out of their way to help. A special mention must go to both of the Lorenzo's on reception - excellent English speaking and very helpful providing travel tips, information etc. (Lorenzo who had lived in Australia was a really funny guy and we had some great chats with him). The breakfast buffet was extensive, eggs were cooked to order together with cappucino if required. We ate at the hotel restaurant several evenings and really enjoyed the food.

An exceptionally friendly well run hotel. All members of staff were very helpful and eager to please. The room was very clean and comfortable but the hotel in general is looking a little tired, hence the reason I haven't awarded a higher number of stars. I can well understand that such a beautiful old building would gobble up money endlessly. However the location is excellent to explore that area of Tuscany with easy access to the major roads. There is no reason to visit Poggibonsi other than for an evening meal - we had 2 very good meals and they were considerably cheaper than the hotel's restaurant. Recommended providing you're not expecting luxury and I would probably revisit if staying in the area again as it was good value for money.

A once in a lifetime place! We had a\"villa\" sized room overlooking a classic Tuscan valley - hard to stop staring out the window. Very friendly staff with a family feel. Beautiful garden and gorgeous pool that would be fantastic in warm weather.
Internet a bit spotty, and food was good, not great, but that is not what you come to this place to experience. Has good CNN service if you need tv. Interesting old ruins just across the hill, with a unique eating/drinking place overlooking the whole area. Take the splurge and experience this unique villa!

We stayed three nights last week. The hotel staff were wonderful! They made you feel like family. They can help plan your Tuscany hill town visits. Free parking. The breakfast were the best we had in Italy. Dinner was fabulous but you must make reservations. We slept with the windows open. There was some noise from the highway below and some mosquitos did come through the shutters but the view from the window was worth it. Double bed seemed small but was comfortable. We wish there were better more effective hair dryers so you might want to bring your own.

Nice, little hotel
My wife and I stayed at Villa San Lucchese for 2 nights during our Honeymoon tour of Tuscany. Located in Poggibonsi, about halfway between Florence and Siena, the location was a good stopping off point to explore some of the nearby hilltop towns like San Gimignano as there’s nothing of any particular interest in Poggibonsi itself. As we weren’t driving, we were limited to public transport, but the hotel owner, Marco, very kindly drove us from the hotel to the train station a couple of times so we didn’t have to spend extra money on taxis. All of the staff were very friendly and made us both feel very welcome.
The hotel was a former palazzo and had a beautiful garden and terrace with a beautiful panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside below where we ate dinner both evenings. The food was good and inexpensive compared to similar fare in the cities or towns nearby.
The room we stayed in was ok, but because of small windows it was actually quite dark. The four poster bed was a nice touch though. The swimming pool in the garden was one of the smaller pools we used during our trip, but it was still refreshing to swim about it after being out of in the heat of the day exploring the local towns.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. Beautiful building/grounds,excellent staff, excellent breakfast. (omelets etc.). A bit hard to find without a Google map.Situated in a beautiful ,quiet setting in small village of San Lucchese . (turnoff near Ospedale) Handy for the road to San Gimingnano. Close to autostrada etc. A few miles from drab Poggibonsi, which was a good thing. Would highly recommend.
