View was nice. Hard to appreciate when its rainy but that’s not the hotels fault. The staff was disorganized. Check in was confusing. The person at the desk was obviously new but management just left her on her own, fully out of her depth. I felt sorry for her but it still caused friction. They kept out luggage and when i got my carry on, it was damaged. Understand i pack and inspect it multiple times a day. I would not return and would recommend another hotel

We arrived on a late train and they were so accommodating. The rooms were very clean. Great showers! And they stored our bags when we went to Machu Picchu and then you can have a shower when you return! Lovely staff!

We loved our stay at Tierra Viva Machu Picchu. Great communication and extremely helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was delicious and offered at a nice early start in the morning for Machu Picchu departures. Ice cold water, hot water, coffee and tea offered 24Hours.
Also, they transport your luggage to the train station for you and have everything waiting for you when you get there which is so helpful.
The location is right by the river and you don’t hear the loud train going by.

Perfect stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

The Staff was amazing. Bilingual with Spanish and English. They met us at Aguas Calientes train station upon arrival and took our bags to the hotel. Check in was at 12 noon. The hotel showers had hot water and a lot of water pressure (2nd floor), the room was clean with a TV and AC unit although not modern, as expected. Breakfast included started very early (5 or 6am). The staff were really helpful during checkout to hold our bags as we went to Machu Picchu and to bring the bags to our departing train so we would not need to carry them. Again, I cannot repeat how helpful the staff were to make the trip easy and convenient.

I emphasize the quiet during my same as I was based in a Cusco hotel that was not quiet so it was good to get a full 8 hours of sleep with the ambient noise of the river. One minor and amusing regarding is during the night...night here a rooster was crowing around the 2am hour; truly must have been an imported rooster OR disabled rooster as I've never heard of a rooster crowing at night. Staff was professional and exceptional. Free breakfast was only okay.

Since Aguas Calientes is a small town, every corner of streets is walkable. Tierra Viva is located a kind of the end of town, but it is not far at all - only 5 min. from the train station. It has a simple breakfast menu, but very delicious. Staff and service personnel are great!

We were met at the train station (look for the Tierra Viva sign) and our bags trollied the 5 minute walk to the hotel. The staff was professional and helpful. Our room was large overlooking the river. The bed and pillows comfortable. There is a water filter in the lobby for refills (no need to use plastic). First shower this trip with both hot water and great water pressure. It’s a 5 minute walk to the bus to Machu Pichu. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Aguas Caliente.

Beautiful hotel in Aguas Calientes, just outside of the hustle bustle so quiet. We had room 504 which is corner unit. Huge room with big balcony overlooking the river. Bathroom has a combined jet tub-shower with alot of pressure.

The hotel was convientiently located within walking distance to the bus to Machu Picchu and was reletively quiet considering its location. The only issue we experienced was the elevator wasnt operational and we had to carry our luggage up a few flights of stairs which is challenging due to the altitudes. Overall, a good experience.

Excellent location for visiting Machu Picchu. If you are reasonably fit... Please walk up and avoid the buses. It takes 90 minutes up (from the hotel), 60 minutes down. So much nicer though! The path is clear... Lots of steps but a lovely experience. Hotel was solid, spacious room, clean, nice staff, good breakfast. Ideal place for a couple of days visiting Machu Picchu without the rush of the 1 day trip!

Nice short stay

Nice clean place. Help front desk staff. A little noisy at night and we see that they came in to close our curtains which was a little off-putting with all our stuff lying out. We were also asking several times what our room number was at breakfast as if to imply we had snuck in. We weren’t dressed down in anything. Overall good short stay, we were able to shower after checking out which was definitely a plus.

Tierra viva was probably my favorite hotel in our 12 night honeymoon- i cant recommend it enough. Book room 504 (junior suite), trust me! It has a large balcony overlooking the urabamba river, with a view both up and down the river. Staff met us at the train station, which i didnt expect, but allowed us to ditch our bags and get to our tour on time. Staff also drew maps for me, gave us drinks and let us check out late. They also have a filtered water bottle filler in th lobby, the only one ive seen in peru- this saves a lot of headache managing water.
