The hotel has its own private beach, which was so convenient and relaxing. We enjoyed it every day. Be prepared to walk at least 20 minutes into town on a hill. Also budget for taxi transportation on the days you don’t want to walk back up the hill. Overall, the hotel is quite lovely and all of the food and drinks that we had were delicious. The communication with the staff was excellent.

We absolutely loved the area and thought the hotel itself was gorgeous and very clean. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by an ongoing issue that made it impossible to sleep. From the moment we arrived, we heard very loud and consistent banging noises coming from the walls, which we believe were from the pipes. We reported it to the front desk, who did come to our room and confirmed they also heard the noise. We both agreed this was not coming from another resident, and this did seem to be from the pipes. However, they explained that maintenance was unavailable until the following day and nothing could be done in the meantime.

While the staff mentioned this was something they had never encountered before, the fact remained that we were left in a room where restful sleep was impossible. This was extremely disappointing, especially given how beautiful and otherwise enjoyable the property was.

Because the issue was unresolved during our stay and significantly impacted our ability to use the room as intended, we kindly request a refund through Expedia for this reservation.

I thought this place was great! private beach with elevator to the bottom, food was good, service always friendly, close enough to walk into the action of downtown but far enough not to get hassled by it. Top of the hill views can't hardly be beat. Parking is somewhat limited so don't go thinking your big family reunion is all going to swing Escalades into the parking lot.

The stay was good. The view in the dining area where breakfast was served was amazing. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Different types of eggs - hard boiled, fried, scrambled. The pastries were amazing. They had this croissant with a custard filling that makes my mouth water while writing. Our room did not have an ocean view which I understand would’ve have cost more and most of the reviews suggested getting. Our room did have a large private balcony which was convenient for drying laundry.

Now for the negatives- the main annoyance was that the AC (air conditioning) only worked when the room key (like a credit card) was in the slot, which meant that if we were away all day, the room was quite warm when we returned and then it took hours to cool down. Now I understand the rationale for not using electricity when no one is there but the hotel had the AC blasting in the hallway continuously which to me would seem to negate the cost saving to keep it off in the guests’ rooms. On this trip, we stayed in several hotels (Venice, Rome) where the AC was on in the room continuously and not on in the hallway. We really appreciated a cool comfortable room after being in the heat - Sorrento was only about 26 C (80 F) but the humidity was 76%; Rome was 37 C or 100 F.

The other annoyance was the sit down shower - it was a bathtub with a hand wand for the shower. It did have good water pressure but sitting taking a shower was weird.

This hotel was absolutely incredible! Beautiful location overlooking the ocean and town of Sorrento. We loved that it was a little outside of Sorrento but still a quick and easy walk into town. All of the staff was super friendly and helpful during our stay. We also HIGHLY recommend eating at their restaurant on property. The food was some of the best we had on our whole Italy trip, and the view at sunset was unbelievable!

The hotel has no pool. They offer you a private beach, but they charge you for it. The room was quite small and the Internet had problems. €400 a night is a lot to spend for a small room with problems (which they tried to fix and apologized for ) and on top of that they want to charge you to park the car and use their private beach.

Do not stay in room number 9. Everyone thinks it’s the reception and constantly tries to open the door. You hear everyone entering and existing hotel at night and in the morning. Could not sleep, plus multiple groups tried to get in the room making us so uncomfortable.

Floors were very dirty but rest of room was fairly clean. Staff was polite and helpful, we just got shafted with the worst room of the hotel.

We became ill in Naples the day before arrival and had to delay our stay by one night. The hotel was able to assign us the same room which was the top suite in the facility at the same cost for a Friday night with no penalty for cancellation. Our room was unbelievable with a wrap-around balcony, bedstyle lounge outdoor shower and a magnificent view of the harbor, bay and Vesuvius. The room was elgant with tiled floors and a small table and chairs to enjoy wine and cheese while watching the seagulls fly below us at sunset. Breakfast was lovely and the short 8 minute walk downhill to Sorrento restaurants , shops churches was rewarding and invigorating. Staff was first class and helpful by setting up a taxi ride to Pompeii upon departure. On a final note the rainhead i our hot tub spa shower was broken and the staff had it entirely replaced and fixed despite the discovery on a Friday nght at 6 pm. To have that service performed in a matter of hours while we had dinner in town is a testament to the excellence of the hotel staff. We have stayed at fabulous hotels with breathtaking views from our rooms in Ireland, Hawaii, France and Sonoma Valley the Hotel Tonnarella is permanently ensconced alongside those memories.

Property has a wonderful view looking back at Sorrento. The beach area was not well maintained. The walls are thin and could hear the room above using the toilet and all sounds associated with that. Could hear the room next door having sex. Not the most enjoyable experience. It is walkable to town and had a pretty view. Wouldn’t stay here again.

This is by far the most unique and beautiful hotel that we have ever stayed in! The location was a 15 min walk to the city center and on the peak of a beautiful cliff that give you the most amazing view of Sorrento the marinas and the Mediterranean. The patio off of our room had room for 20 people with 2 chase loungers and a table with chairs and an umbrella. The glass doorwall to the patio was HUGe and gave you an amazing view while open or closed. the small room had (2) flat screen TV's, a mini bar, a place to make in room coffee or tea and a very updated lighting and cooling system. This was the best room of our 14 day Italy vacation. If we return to Sorrento this will be our only choice for a hotel.

This is a charming property with fabulous views. Our room was huge with a wrap around patio, pergola with wisteria vines, a bed and outside shower - not to mention the most incredible views of the sea. The bathroom had a huge ceramic tile jacuzzi tub. Our dinner and breakfast was excellent. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is an elevator that takes you down to their beach area, although you do have a small walk after you get off the elevator, just be aware of that.
All this said, the only thing keeping this resort from being a 5 star review was that it appeared to have had better days, and perhaps it has been difficult since covid. The bed was not comfortable, the water flow and temperature in the shower/tub was not consistent, the beach area was run down somewhat. Our patio had not appeared to have been cleaned up before we arrived, so there was leaves/sticks all over the place (yes it was windy, so hard to know) You had to carry your own bags to your room which involved navigating stairs. We enjoyed our time there! Just know that there are a few minor issues that prevent this charming place from being 5 stars.

There are steps but very manageable. The breakfast was delicious and the terrace restaurant was amazing food and view at night was spectacular. Absolutely incredible stay. My husband and I spent four nights here and it felt like home by the end (though much more beautiful than our actual home). The reception desk went above and beyond for us to help us get a taxi when we made a mistake. The wait staff was so friendly and accommodating. The views are unreal. Beach is a little oasis. The pictures are just what you see. Gorgeous views, sea breezes, and sun. The rooms are relatively large with spacious bathrooms, lovely amenities. A short 15 minute walk down the hill to the central historic section so it is really quite quiet. There is a secret beach for hotel guests accessed via a path/elevator where you can take an afternoon rest after exploring Sorrento. Breakfast setting is spectacular, food choices were good.

Tip: Reserve parking when you book. If you want to splurge on a room with a view and a private terrace during your holiday, this is where.

We had an amazing (and large) private balcony, overlooking the sea, giving us an incredible sea view over the bay.

The room was a good size with a good size bathroom with jacuzzi spa and lights, however a stand up shower would have been nice. We used the outside hose as a refreshing shower instead.

Breakfast was good, the restaurant excellent.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I would recommend to anyone.

My only drawback is (due to me having a bad knee) it’s a 15 minute walk into anywhere (but literally everything you want is only a 15/20 minute walk) so personally I could have been more centrally located.

I was gutted only on my last day did I see the stairs to our private beach.

A perfect place for a honeymoon

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in October and it was AMAZING. Obviously Sorrento is gorgeous, but the hotel really was special. The room was cute and comfy and we had our own little patio. Everything was very clean and kept clean by staff. The hotel itself is up the hill from the main downtown area of Sorrento and it is 100% worth the climb up the road. The view is simply incredible. And you get to see it twice a day going in and out of town. The hotel also has a restaurant and terrace which overlooks the marina and it's just stunning. The breakfast they serve in the morning was lovely with super sweet waiters. There's a private beach too, which was wonderful and peaceful even in October, though the restaurant/bar down there wasn't open off season (I can only imagine how great it is on season). We also booked two excursions through the hotel via Golden Tours and man were they amazing. Would 100% recommend.

First and foremost the staff was the best of all for my 12 days in Italy! It’s in thing to do your job, it’s another to seek out ways to make someone’s stay special. I travel every 3-4 weeks for pleasure or business. I’m not kidding if you made eye contact with anyone on their staff (including housekeeping) they would stop and help you with a smiling face. I will stay there every time I am in Sorrento...period! Gaetano the maître d’, Mariana (excuse the spelling) booked taxes, helped me with bus and train schedules, advised me when and where I should walk versus bus or taxi. It t was my first time in Italy...I can’t thank them enough for making it so special.

Everything from check in to check out was perfect. The view and atmosphere was breathtaking. There are not enough words to explain the feeling.
One thing I do really recommend is getting better routers or WiFi service. WiFi is the only way some of us are able to communicate and research things and the connection was horrible, did not work most of the time.

Lovely hotel with spectacular view of sea and Mt Vesuvius. The staff goes beyond expectations to assist travelers’ needs, always courteously and pleasantly. Rooms are spacious, super clean and comfy.

stay in Executive suite

when we first walked in to the room we were so shocked, the photos avaliable do not do this room justice! when booking i thought it would be a nice enough room but had no balcony, i was very wrong. The executive suite had a sitting room, with balcony, main bedroom, with a staircase down to a huge private courtyard and another indoor staircase down to the insane bathroom including huge spa bath with waterfeature and huge window looking over the water, another sitting room in the second bedroom, also with balcony and a 2nd bathroom, we were amazed and inlove with this room, it was so great sitting out in the HUGE private courtyard (seriously this courtyard is bigger than i expected the whole room to be) watching the sun set and drinking some wine. The actual hotel is also great, we had free breakfast, the sitting area had amazing views, as did pretty well every part of the hotel, great selection for breakfast, little beach at the bottom of the hotel with a restaurant for daytime foods and drinks, only down side was there was no dinner spot but we just walked into town for dinner. loved every part of our stay, could not rate highly enough
