The room felt dirty because of the carpet, also smelled musty and since we are allergic we started sneazing. The corridor and the stairways smelled like stale air. There was no AC and we had to sleep with the window opened — thankfully it was not too hot since it rained the days we were there, but in hot weather it would have been uncomfortable. For cheap price it may be agreeable to many, but I’d spend a bit extra to stay in a nicer place.

The staff was fantastic. The food for breakfast great. The location - inconvenient. The best I can refer to this as a dormitory style building that wants to charge more for hotel guests. They have bizarre rules - they are not at the so called hotel at certain times And leave notes on cork boards telling you will be fined for doing certain things. Never been to a place quite like this before

Good location for a stop-off while visiting champagne region. Breakfast had a great choice available. Check in time was restricted. The app said that it was 4-8pm but when we arrived at 5.30pm it stated that it opened at 6pm. Definitely a pain. Rooms well equipped and staff were friendly when they arrived back. Great kitchenette and adequate parking. Room was spacious and bathroom big.

Comfortable appart'hotel

This appart'hotel is convenient for anyone who is driving to Epernay and wants to be able to park for free by their hotel. It is also about a 20 minute walk from the town and on bus routes - so no need to toss a coin to decide who drives and who gets to taste champagne! The reception area is pleasant but our initial impression of the common areas was that they were a bit spartan - but then again, until recently the building was an army barracks. We had a duplex, which offered plenty of space for us as a couple and would also be comfortable for three. \"Kitchen corner\" was a bit cramped but it was adequate for our needs and we were able to self-cater easily for the two nights we were there. Also, it felt like somewhere we could have stayed comfortably for a longer period, so suitable too for someone travelling on business who perhaps needs to find somewhere to stay for a week or two. Breakfast is offered by the hotel but we preferred to prepare our own. There is a coffee and snacks machine on the ground floor and also a bar that opens in the evening.

I arrived early for check in and was advanced to a suite which was kind of the hotel manager. The rooms are circa 60's/70's. I was only staying one night so I didn't need the use of the kitchenette, which was functional but outdated. The hotel is not in the city center and be careful about the oneway streets to get there. Their breakfast is hearty. The distance to wineries in city center is too far if you are there to taste wine

Hallways look like hospitals, with firedoors closed in the middle of hallways at all times. Fire doors are extremely loud and swing back and forth several times throughout night. Hotel was much older and run down than pictures look.
No air conditioning required windows to be open all night, however several people partied outside all night dancing on tables/music/yelling. This was right outside the front door/desk lobby where the hotel staff are sitting, and they never asked the patrons to be quiet, even at 3AM.
All I want is a clean, average, quiet hotel, and I didn't really get any of those things.

Utilitarian place for your stay at Epernay

The room is spacious given the loft bed arrangement. The bathroom however was a better match for a hospital or an army base. I’m not looking for luxury, given the reasonable pricing, but a slight touch of class would have gone a long way.

We had a window for check in that we weren't going to make...so we called the hotel and they told us they would leave room code in safe. The safe broke and we didn't have another living sole in the hotel to help us . The hotel closes up completely and everything is locked. I feel there should be an emergency number posted that we could talk too in such a situation. We didn't speak the language and tried to call the international number but they didn't seem to be able to help either. Fortunately my friend cracked the safe. (New skill she has now acquired ). This was late at night and in a small town, we didn't know where we would have stayed that night, other than the car.

The hotel itself is good. The reception staff were happy, kind, and helpful. I really liked having a room with beds and a room with a couch and table/chairs. Good to have the kitchenette, however, no plates, cups, utensils... left me wanting more. The room I was in, A205, was fine but there was a rather unpleasant small in the bathroom. Sewage? Pipes? Not sure. I certainly could not drink the water from the taps.

Don't stay here! Rooms are like a caravan but bigger. Receptionist to told me I was lucky to check in as he was there! I realised what he meant when every time I passed reception it was roller shuttered off. No ambiance. No bar. No nothing. Impressive building, very sadly let down but it's interior. Comfy bed, quiet and good breakfast however.

Rooms are needing renovation - for instance, paint around the window sills were cracked and needed to be repainted. Rooms are very spartan. Maybe it was what we paid for. Hot water heater broke during our first night and the staff ended up letting us use another vacant room. Hotel staff shuts down for the night around 9 pm, so good luck getting any help after that. We went into several rooms trying to figure out if we wanted to pay for the better view, and all the rooms had a dank, stale smell. In hindsight we wish we paid up for nicer rooms.

Overall we enjoyed our stay there as staff was very kind and efficient. The hotel is not far from the centre, walking distance but still better with a car. The room size was ok, the bed on the small size tho. The bathtub/shower was quite poorly designed tho, with the shower curtain cutting the bathtub in half. If anything the room could use a refreshing.

Check in service was slow, unprofessional and just not good enough. Receptionist chatting and smoking out the front when our room was ready. We had to repeatedly ask if we could check in. Hotel area and location is terrible! €10 taxi fare to town. Room was small and it was advertised as having a kitchenette. Not one glass, plate or fork was provided. Cobwebs in room. No one at check out when we left, reception closed. Couldn't pay. Left our details with the cleaning lady who was very helpful. No one called us back. We had to ring the hotel and sort it ourselves. They still haven't sent us a copy of the bill by email.

Was allocated a ground floor room on a very hot evening. As we had our youngest daughter with us we could not sleep with the windows open. There was a electric fan in the hallway so I asked the receptionist if we could use it during the night, I was told no as that was for reception and I should leave the windows open.

Hotel was fine, but not happy with our booking. We booked and paid for a Suite, hoping for a bit of extra space when staying for 4 nights. However, on arrival they advised that our booking had only come through from Hotels.com as a studio. However they couldn't provide a refund or give us the Suite we'd paid for.

Nice views from the room and a fairly quiet location, although a bit of a walk from town if you're inclined to walk. Quite close to shops in a smaller town just outside Eperney though.

Good sized bathroom, but the (only hand held) shower is a little tricky to use.

There is a small kitchenette and they provide cooking utensils, but there is no toaster or kettle, which is an oversight.

Great location, terrible rooms!!

The beds were absoluteley terrible! They'd been used so many times, the imprint of the previous person was still in there! It felt like laying in a hole, and not comfortable at all! The building is quite nice, and has charachter, but they could've done more to increase guest comfort. We had a kitchenette room, including fridge and stove. No kitchen utensils, no glasses present in the room. We occupied the room (suite) with 3 people, but only enough big towels for two, 2 plastic cups and 2 soap bars.

On the second day, the shower broke (the hose just came loose mid-shampoo session) and so it just didn't do much for our comfort levels. Please keep in mind the sofa bed is about 1,75m long, so an average adult will not be able to fit on the bed, so use it for kids only!
I actually recommend the IBIS hotel in downtown Epernay, similar pricing and an even greater location.
They say you get what you pay for, but we got even less than what we paid for....

Lovely Views of Wine Country

I really loved my time at this hotel. The staff was so friendly, and willing to make lots of recommendations. They sent us to visit a local winemaker, which was awesome. The view from the hotel is overlooking vineyards in every direction, which was beautiful. Breakfast was wonderful. I really enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is a remodeled barracks. It has a beautiful brick wall that surrounds the place. There are plenty of rooms. It is away from the Champagne Ave, which is okay, since there is plenty of available parking nearby the Champagne Ave. The rooms are spacious and have a refrigerator and oven. The decor is not thrilling, but the room is comfortable. We did run out of hot water after one shower as each room has it own little water heater above the toilet behind a wood panel. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. As my title states there is plenty of parking and it is free. There is also free WIFI.

Have stayed here before - twice. Will I be staying again? NO! This time got put in the 'other' building - which is awful! Rooms ridiculously small, no lounge or sitting area. No breakfast in this building (so 150m walk in the rain to breakfast). If you are thinking of staying here, specify original building in your requests. This was always a budget hotel, the original building was ok for the money, the new building is reminiscent of a prison.

The room was clean with very comfortable beds. The kettle with coffee, tea and biscuits was a welcome surprise together with the kitchenette and fridge. The addition of a bar was nice. I would have welcomed a shower instead of a bath as the shower cradle was too low down for a shower. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay, albeit quite a long walk to the town.

Good hotel for price

The hotel was located little farther from the downtown Epernay so be prepared something to eat for the meals. Fortunately there was a grocery store close to the hotel and delivery service for foods was available from restraurants located nearby. The staff at the reception was very friendly and kind for questions regarding public transportation and restaurants.The hotel has been renovated from the old military facility so there was some smell and feeling like a military camp. Unlike many other hotel in France, the room was big enouh for a family.

This hotel was possibly the worst hotel ever ,amazing you can call it a hotel.Road to hotel resembled a war zone .Welcomed at hotel by an oaf who could barely speak any language,could not smile ,didn't have the booking and then couldn't care anyway .Function on at same time which meant multitudes of drunks outside hotel ,inside and even behind reception .No televisions ,air conditioning ,ambience or sense of being a hotel .Frankly dreadful .!!!Your company is great and my stays are usually excellent so why advertise these hovels .

Sat nav could not locate the hotel, so followed the signs for the hospital first and then used the hotel web site map. Room was clean, and was equipped with a fridge, cooker and sink - as you would expect in a Comfort Suit Hotel. But that was it!! Not even a teaspoon. No evening meals available in the hotel either, so a trip into town needed for the evening meal. Breakfast not taken so cannot comment on that. Would not use this one again.

The Not So Comfort Suites

Bad customer service. The hotel smells like wet sheep. Our room had not been made up by 6:00 PM the following day and they could not care less until I raised my voice several octaves. Finally some one saw some sense and provided a bottle of champagne, (not that we needed it, because that's what we had been doing all day) We still had to make our own beds. The hotel was very good, but some clearer information on how to locate it would have been very helpful - the postcode was not sufficient for our sat nav - but some helpful ladies at a bus stop directed us (we just happened to have pulled up outside the entrance to the former barracks on which this hotel is situated). Nonetheless, we were very satisfied with the hotel and the service which they provided.

A work in progress but with great potential.

The room was pleasant enough, comfortable and clean and good value for money, BUT...

The whole building complex looks like its suffered from the Euorpean debt crisis, with many things incomplete or not finished. The front of the building drastically lacked gardens of any description. This was very disappointing as the view of any window was an overgrown building site still in construction phase.

We ordered a double bed and we got 2 single beds side by side. The beds were very hard but not totally uncomfortable. The room was advertised as a 'self contained' and did have a small cook top in the room and had an electric kettle and toaster, but there wasn't a piece of crockery or cutlery supplied nor a saucepan or frying pan. The cups supplied with the kettle and teabags were cheap and very nasty, very small, disposable plastic, and the 'glasses' in the batheroom were the flimsiest plastice that split when water was poured in.

If green credentials are important to the extent that you want to minimise the laundry of towels then the provision of disposable plastic cups seems incompatible with those stated aspirations, especially when the towels were replaced every day regardless of the fact that we had hung our towels up. The placement of the shower head in the bathroom was too low, ie very good for washing your navel, but difficult for washing your hair.

Basic but good value for money

We have stayed here twice, both times at the same time of the year for three nights. It is not very sophisticated but it is clean, comfortable and cheap. The staff are always polite and try to be helpful. We have been upgraded to suites both times despite paying the cheapest rate. There is equipment and space to cook and eat in if on a budget. It is not ideally placed being on the edge of town but there are local shops etc. We have never really found location an issue (but we always have a car).We would stay again.

Nice hotel for price

This is a good hotel for the price. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was very cold in the room when we arrived and the hallways were very cold. Housekeeping came to ensure that we were able to figure out how to turn on the heat. The hotel is in a newer area. Our GPS could not locate the road but googlemaps will find the area and then there are signs. Free wireless and a great breakfast were offered. The water did not stay hot very long. My husband had to take a cold shower.

Comfort Suites - Epernay

An impressive ex-military building, with high windows and more space than expected. Facilities all appeared well kept, and quite new.
Spacious, generally clean, and comfortable.
Excellent price. Only slight negative is a 25 min walk in to town centre.

Amazing!

My friend and I had an amazing stay at this hotel. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to stay longer. Great staff, so helpful and the rooms were amazing!
I would definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend to others.

Comfort Suites Epernay-Champagne

Good for visiting champagne houses in Pierry - close enough to walk. Takes 30mins to walk back into central Epernay. Hotel very very difficult to find - rue Bonal not on Tom Tom - you need to phone for directions / post code. Great building, comfortable but not well equipped. Thin towels, has a kitchenette but no kettle, saucepan, cups etc.
