The hotel it self is amazing, except the toilet. The toilet is so close to the wall that is very uncomfortable. For a plus size person it would be very difficult to use it.

We recently stayed one week at this hotel and were disappointed with the experience. First of all, it is clearly not a five-star hotel as it is listed on travel websites. The reception was cold and lacking courtesy.

We were asked to leave our luggage in the lobby so it could be brought up to our room. After 45 minutes, we had to go back downstairs because the luggage had still not been delivered, and we were told that the staff were very busy.

Cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The room we paid for had a sea view, but the windows were very dirty. In addition, on the beach in front of the hotel there is a large construction site, and from the window we could see two cranes obstructing the view.

The carpet in the hallways is old and dirty, and the exterior elevator has very dirty windows. The terrace on the 15th floor is completely closed and under construction.

Breakfast is very limited and far from what one would expect from a five-star hotel.

We would certainly not return to this hotel and would recommend avoiding it.

Yes the ocean was visible how ever windows were horrible dirty with green mold on them. There was no hot water in our room so they changed us to another room and the other room. The toilet did not flush everything in this hotel is very old and the staff is very rude.

Amazing! The hotel is beautiful but the rooms are old. The staff were amazing and very professional. I love that this hotel is in walking distance from everything. I felt right at home being able to come outside and walk freely without fear. If I come back to CTG, this hotel will be high on my list.

When booking the hotel, it seemed like breakfast was included in the price...turns out it was not. Most of the hotel was very outdated despite what they show in the photos. The rooftop deck was closed for construction the entire time. The pool only got sun for 2 hours a day between 4:30-6:30pm. The gym, which I was initially excited for, seemed like it had not been updated since the early 90's. The equipment was either filthy or half broken. The toilet seat in my room was half detached from the toilet and due to the toilet being partially under the counter, the lid would not stay up. The shower drained extremely slow so it would fill up with water as I was using it. We were also under the impression that the beach outside of the hotel was property of the hotel. It seems we were wrong because we were harrassed by street vendors the entire time. Also, beware of the conmen selling umbella spots on the beach. They are notorious for charging you for whatever they feel they want. We paid $93 for a beer, a margarita and a mojito. Besides all that, the bed was comfortable. I would not recommend this hotel. Beware!

I am so pleased to Recommend Almirante! From the Welcoming Smiles of the staff & “Welcome” Drink…to the Singers @La Terrazza & Jholi, a Fabulous Singer at the inside Bar…I stayed 10 days & Unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish well, but everyone tried to accommodate, especially both Raphael’s, so all was well! Clearly Almirante takes pride in Excellent Customer Service as they willingly changed my room to a Quieter area & as my flight was in the Evening I was able to extend my day till 5 pm for a very reasonable rate! the Environment (beautiful plants) & Spotless! This Hotel is right on a main drag, so lots of tourists & shops on one side & the BocaGrande Beach on the other. They offer a huge Buffet Breakfast, but there are many little places to try in the area. All I can say is Gracias to All the Wonderful Staff @Hotel Almirante! I’m SO sad to be Leaving today…

The location was superb, but my bed was hard as a rock. Additionally, I requested a small face towel for my room and itbwas never delivered. I literally had to take a shower with one of the hand drying towel which became extremely heavy with showering.

Terrible the front desk people were rude. I was charged multiple times for having a guest come to hotel. I was charged a fee for my room because of the smell of my cologne. Also the rooms were not clean as in pictures.

My kids and I stayed in the La Mer suite, which was clean and spacious enough for the 3 of us. It was nice to have a living area/kitchenette to relax, in addition to the bedroom, It is located next to the street so you can sometimes hear music at night, which didn’t bother us.

Luis, Paco, and Marcus were all very courteous and helpful. They made sure that we were comfortable and taken care of during our stay.

We especially enjoyed the breakfast,which consisted of fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, toast, in the morning, all freshly made.

My daughter and I really had fun with the tortoise who came to visit one day for breakfast.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would visit again!

Area was nice, checking in could improve. They also make you check out which could take anywhere from 20-40 mins. A bit inconvenient when you have to catch a fly.
They also asked you every time if you’re staying there when you get back into the property. Lower level pool for the kids was close.
Last time I was there, pool was also close. I wish they let you Know before you book

This hotel is very outdated in the rooms. In the lobby and common areas beautiful. The rooms are absolutely old and definitely need a gut and rebuild. This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel this should be labeled as a 2 star hotel. Staff were nice and very pleasant. Everything closes at 10PM so there goes your night life in Cartagena unless you know the spots to go to. Also the min you step outside there vendors begging for money. Bed was alright anything else very very old especially the bathroom that's constantly painted over or chipping paint and the curtains are yellow! The windows are so dirty you can barely see the views and in the pool they have a caution tape because rocks fall from the updaters balcony on the kiddy side of the pool.

This property is in a great location but is not being maintained very well. They also have some very strange hours for the amenities. The gym closes around 5 pm. The pool closes around 8 but does not open until noon.

My room, which was supposed to be one of the best, was not very clean and was in need of some work. There were a lot of stains and just a general feel of dirtiness. The shower looked like what you would find in an old gym with stained an missing grout. The AC would never get the room below 23 degC. When my allergies were starting to act up, I looked at the filter. It was so incredibly nasty that I was mad that I was breathing the air that came through it. This thing was disgusting! I removed it an called the front desk for a replacement. The maintenance guy took the old filter but never brought a new one.

The mattress was older feeling. It was firm and springy (not in a good way). The pillows were just odd-some sort of hard foam-not traditional pillows. We were able to sleep comfortably but are not super picky about those types of things.

The included breakfast was good. There is no coffee in the rooms, so you have to go downstairs to get it.

The staff was incredibly friendly. The location is great. You can walk to a bunch of great food options. Taxi to the old city is super cheap.

All in all I would think there are better options for the money. I will likely not come back to this place. I paid for a nice hotel and got an old one.

An older property, which is nice cause the rooms are bigger. Nice and helpful staff. We arrived around lunch, were not able to check in, but the hotel did keep our luggage so we could walk around. Welcome drinks were a treat.
The cons are the pool being on the shaded side of the hotel.
Overall, good experience at the hotel, did not enjoy the beach, too many vendors all looking for your business, same on the street, we later found Castillogrande beach, and would recommend that area if you want some peace and quiet beach time.

This hotel is really good it has an excellent view of rio! I was able to check in early and check out late and that was a huge help and staff was really nice on that. The only think is their furniture on the first floor they are all stained and that does not look good. Area feel safe. The only issue that there are not a lot of dining options. Also you will have to take uber everywhere unless you want to take public transportation. Uber is safe and not expensive.

This was my second time here and i enjoyed it as i did the last time. I find the staff very friendly and helpful and the overall amenities for the price point very good. I especially enjoy the gym which is probably one of the best hotel gyms i've experienced. I also apprecaite the hotel decoration for the holidays. The only critique i would give is that while fully functinonal and comfortable, the rooms could use a revitalized or updated style to keep in league with other hotels on the same price point. Overall i was very pleased with my stay and look forward to my next visit there.

Good location. Service at the pool is the worst. The servers only serve the girls they find hot. They also play super loud music with nasty lyrics and they forget that there’s kids there listening to those songs. Our bathroom was also poorly cleaned and the shower was full of grime.
