This beautiful Mediterranean-style hostel overlooks the white sand and crystal-clear waters of San Juan/Muchavista beach. An ideal location for relaxation and sunbathing, it's easily accessible by car (A-7 exit San Juan de Alicante, towards the beaches), tram (L-3 towards Campello), or bus (21).
Please note that the building doesn't have an elevator. All rooms are simply furnished but include a bathroom with a shower and the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay.
Some rooms also offer sea views, which can also be enjoyed from the terrace.
When you stay at Hostal San Juan in El Campello, you'll be by the sea, within a 15-minute drive of San Juan Beach and Campello Beach. This beach hostal is 7.4 mi (11.9 km) from Alicante Harbour and 7.5 mi (12.1 km) from El Corte Ingles Shopping Center.

The rating is for the hostal itself we did not use the restaurant during our stay.
We were very impressed with our accommodation newly built , spacious, super clean, comfortable room. Lovely pool and direct access to tram lines 1 and 3 and over the road to the most beautiful white sandy clean beach .

This hotel was simply too good to be true! I was looking for an safe, clean, affordable place to stay on the beach in El Campello. I was a little confused with the name \"Hostal,\" but it in no way refers to hostel. I had a cute room with bath and a gorgeous view of the Sea. Clean and comfortable. I felt safe. The location cannot be beat for being on the beach. I slept to the sound of the waves. Just cross the street and you are right there. The tram is right there as well. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Food and drink are great. This place is truly a gem. I would definitely come back!

This is a no-fuss hotel directly on the Mediterranean Sea. It was perfect! The restaurant at the hotel was one of the best we experienced in El Campello. The view from the cafe was the sea, and the pool was large, clean and uncrowded. Listening to the sea while sleeping at night and playing all day in the sun was great for our family of five. We barely left the property for almost three days. Lovely!

Very clean hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, would have preferred a double bed for more comfort and needs air con or better cooling fans, just too warm and stuffy in the room at night and made sleeping difficult, would stay again at different time of year when it's fresher at night, generally it was a nice place to stay and in an excellent location on the seafront

Perfect location with great price and awesome people who run it. Just stayed there 5 nights last week. Yolanda at the front desk was the best!!!! Breakfast lady (Sorry, forgot the name), was the sweetest thing ever. I had some health issues at the last days of my stay and was able to get 100% attention and support from the staff. Had wonderful time at the beach, with great sandy seashore, crystal clear warm waters and great breeze. This is very low key, no night life location. Great for evening strolling along the beach on the promenade. If you want night life - this is not for you.Will be back for sure!!!!!

El Campello is a beautiful place which is kept very clean and tidy by the council workers, the beach, streets, everywhere.
I don't recall reading anywhere that the area and hostel would be populated by mainly mainland Europeans with little, if any, English, this wouldn't be a problem as a rule but with minimal knowledge of the Spanish language I really struggled that said, it has made me more determined than ever to learn Spanish.
If you do go there I would definitely recommend you pay a visit to the \"Castell de la Santa Barbara\" it is at the top of \"Mount Benacantil\". The best way to get there is on foot through the neighbourhood of \"Santa Cruz\". On the way up you will pass the \"Museo de Aquas de Alicante\" which is worth a visit. It is only a small place but it is interesting.
All of the castle is free except for any special attractions that may be on. There is a restaurant, café, snack and drink stalls and a market. Absolutely brilliant day out !

The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times. The quality of the food served was satisfactory - plain and tasty. The rooms have no air-con.but at the beginning of May that was not an issue. The beds and rooms were tidied each morning and clean towels provided every day. We even enjoyed swimming in the sea and hotel pool - both cold so early in the season! The location was ideal and for a short break this pretty hotel was ideally suited for our requirements.

As a \"hotel\" this establishment would have a poor mark, but as a \"hostel\" it deserves a high recommendation. It is an old building that has been extended & extensively tidied up with copious quantities of paint and whitewash. No air-conditioning but rooms have television with 39 Spanish channels and one English channel. There’s a nice restaurant, which is a little pricy, but there is a fine cafeteria for lights snacks & small meals. Scandinavian-style breakfast buffet is basic but very well presented. The staff are very helpful. There is a very nice pool, but is closed afternoons so not to disturb visitors to adjacent building during afternoon siester time (15:30 - 17:00). The surrounding area is not exactly tourist-like and there’s a shortage or restaurants and shops, but there are a couple of small places and only 450m from a large modern supermarket. The beach is just over the road with golden clean sands, with lifeguard at weekends. Access to the hostel from Alicante city and the airport is excellent. From the airport, take a bus to the city (Luceros area) - (< 3 euros), then tram L3 to Muchavista (< 2 euros). Taxi to the airport is about 40 Euros (Sept 2012). All-in-all this is a very pleasant place to stay if you do NOT seek a rowdy night-life, posh restaurants & night-life, clubs & disco's. It is basic but very pleasant & clean. If you want good entertainment then it is a 30-minute tram ride into Alicante, but the last tram back is about 23:50 & stops at all stations.

My Husband & I were so pleased with Hostal San Juan. It was exactly what we wanted. A clean, quiet hotel close to the beach, a pool & in a relaxing area. We got exactly that & more. The rooms are basic (no kettle or kitchen sink) but have plenty of Spanish character with beautiful sea views. All the staff were very friendly, fun and helpful even with us making a mess of the Spanish language. The restaurant had such amazing food, we ate there every night of our stay and when it was too windy for the beach the pool area was perfect for a relaxing sit in the sun with a drink from the bar. It does pay to have a translation book if required just to make things a bit easier & its also fun trying.

Jeg fik et værelse med 3 senge og ingen havudsigt selvom billederne på det værelse jeg havde booket var med en dobbeltseng og havudsigt. Men det er Hotels.com og ikke Hostal San Juan’s skyld. Alligevel gav den søde receptionist mig gratis morgenmad fordi de havde dårlig samvittighed. Hotel.com skrev de ville “lave en note”.

Terrible experience. Location is great but Hostal is very dirty and staff is unprofessional. We have found every day several huge cockroaches in our supposedly superior-renovated room, the cockroaches were just everywhere. We’ve complained several times but it seems the hotel staff lost control of the plague, they were not helpful and it seems they were also tired of this topic. At the end we’ve changed the room, but was dirty as well. We have raised an official complaint to the Spanish authorities. Unacceptable hygiene situation and staff behavior.
