This is a basic 3 star hotel definitely not a 4 ,
Dark and dingy bar area, no coat hangers no extra pillows, we had a side sea view room with a lovely view but no balcony that you could sit on.

We liked nothing.None of the hotels facilities were open ,breakfast was shocking.staff not interested.Never a 4 star 2 maybe at a push.Extremely disappointed never had this problem booking threw expedia before..We left after 1 night booking into somewhere else.

My husband and I had an amazing stayed at Family Gallo Rojo Hotel. The staff are wonderful. We felt very comfortable in the hotel because the staff are very friendly. Location, swimming pool and rooms are great and the beach is one of the best that I I have been in my life. I will defenetelly come back to this hotel.

The room was spotlessly clean including the bathroom.The beds were comfortable no problems sleeping and a great side view of the sea from the bed as the sun rises.There was a 3/4 sunken bath with a shower which was powerful.The location was perfect for us 500m from the main strip of shops and restaurants and beach.We had continental breakfast which was top notch.We didn't use the pool so can't comment.The staff were very friendly and helpful.We would definitely come back to hotel when in El Campello again.

Fantastic!!

Love staying at this hotel, which we do 2-3 a year whilst visiting family nearby.
It is central to everything in Campello.
The staff are so helpful & nothing is too much trouble.
We contacting the hotel direct to up-grade to a room with a terrace, this exceeded our expectations! Fantastic views with sunbeds & table with chairs for relaxation.
Highly recommend!
(Do not confuse La Familia Gallo Rojo with La Familia Hotel, which is another hotel in Campello)

New year getaway!

Amazing from start to finish. We juat wanted to chill out and that was just what we were able to do. The room was sea facing with a big balcony. Im a wheelchair user and found that the hotel a d El Campello totally accessible. It was tgw quiet period but still enjoyable. Thw room had a roll in shower. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
We were room only out of choice but there was a very good restaurant on site and round about. The tram is near bt and accessible for my wheelchair.

Staff made the overall impression disappointing

Having arrived late in the night and not receiving any welcome pack we were expecting to find some information in our room. Staff were disinterested and couldn’t even manage a greeting throughout our stay. We were under the impression that breakfast was included in our oeverall cost last evening we asked if there was a bill to be settled response ‘no’ When checking out we were accused of trying to leave without paying for the breakfasts When we asked to see the bill it was refused and they grabbed the credit card we were about to pay with and they threatened to call the police As the cab to the airport had already arrived we paid without receiving a copy of the bill and had to ask for the receipt from the card machine Previous to this we had gone to the tourist information and asked for their assistance to arrange a cab to the airport as the hotel staff were so unhelpful. We had put this down to their lack of English and were happy to seek assistance else where however the treatment we received on checking out tainted our whole experience and I certainly wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anyone .We are two mature professional women and have never been treated like this at home or in any of our previous travels abroad

Ok standard room far to small for 3 people

Booked with Home and away who offered complimentary parking if you booked with them. The hotel knew nothing of this and my emails were never replied to. We parked on the road. Room was clean and beds comfy but for what we paid it was tiny. Mainly a base. Glad we only stayed 4 nights. Staff were very nice. Breakfast small continental. Was told 7.50 euros if u wanted it next day or 8.50 if u wanted it same day! Strange! Pool was only bonus and u cd get a chair if you were early enough. Clean hotel but not 4 star in our opinion.

Nice hotel, but could be better

This review is purely from a wheelchair user’s point of view, 1st’ly the hotel is up a rather steep hill from the beach, I had my teenage son with me so he pushed me, I’m pretty fit but I done think I could have managed my self, if you have an electric chair then it’s not an issue, 2nd point, the bed was rock hard, I have a special blow up mattress topper that I’ve taken on all my holidays but this is the 1st time I have damaged my skin, even my son complained from the other half of the bed, and usually teenagers can sleep any where, 3rd point, the bathroom, it had a wheel-in shower, it wasn’t a flat floor but a shower tray that would take a shower chair, I didn’t take a shower chair as I usually find that most hotels have a small seat or I use a plastic chair from hotel. The little fold down seat was right on the edge of a long shower tray, when I sat on the seat I had to stretch right over the grap the shower head, because the seat was at the end of the tray, any water running down my right arm fell on the floor and not in the tray, so the floor got very wet, the seat had no arm rests so balancing and washing was tricky, there was no screen or curtain along the side of the tray and the rest of the bathroom so the floor got really wet and made for some interesting foot sliding as I transferred back onto my chair. Wee seat halfway along the shower tray and have a screen to keep the water in the shower area. And it would have been perfect. That said, it’s a lovely hotel

An excellent beach within five minutes and an array of places to eat, special mention for El Galleon close by which serves excellent tapas. El Campello is a quiet resort with easy access to Alicante by tram. Pretty perfect for our needs.

The hotel is at the top of 60 or 70 steps totally unsuitable for older travellers or children.

This is a terrific hotel for those desiring off-season value. The hotel has a terrific location, a terrific staff and wonderful views.

For value, sleep comfort, and customer service you will not regret booking here. The hotel is exceptionally clean, has a nice bar, new furniture, a safe, decent quality bedding and towels and appears to be managed by people who take hospitality seriously.

Check-in- The check-in took about three minutes and the staff were friendly and informative

The room – The room was large and airy. The bedding was new, the bed was firm. The views, even the so-called “partial views” were amazing!

Television – The hotel provides English speaking channels that you see in American airports and tons of tarot card readers.

Internet- The internet in at this hotel was exceptional. In fact, the internet was faster than my home internet. This was a huge plus because the internet was so fast that I was able to make up for the poor television channels by streaming real news channels without one glitch!

Surrounding Area – Numerous supermarkets and restaurants are near. There is plenty of free street parking.

Glad I stumbled across this place.

I accidently booked a night here, but was so glad I did. I picked the right time to visit, as I can imagine the peak of summer it being exceptionally busy. I wandered down the street and found an awesome bar and had a great night. The staff at the motel were friendly, the bed was comfy and the location was fantastic. It wasn't very busy at all, but that's not such a bad thing.
A great night, and the views coming into the city from across the mountains was just amazing.
Great value for money.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon turned on the air conditioner to hot as it was freezing, when we returned to the room we found that the fair conditioning heater did not work there was no one around so the room was so cold I couldn't get any sleep because I was freezing in the end I placed both our coats on the bed and managed to get two hours sleep, sorry we won't be back

one of the best hotels we have stayed in, rooms were very clean and quite large with plenty of room to hang and put your cloths away, the hotel itself again really clean in all areas, from breakfast room to bar area and lobby, all the staff were excellent made us feel very welcome and were always on hand if you needed something or advice, the hotel itself is on a hill 5 minutes from the beach area but that was no problem for us both and you could always avoid most of the steps by entering the hotel via the gated pool area, which had a lift up to a seating area and door into hotel, the beach was really nice and very clean as was the town as well, with a few shops and supermarket if you needed them, we both found it a little to quiet but with help from the very friendly staff the pointed us to the tram station which was just a 10 minute walk away , 1.49 euros for a 15 minute trip into mercado the city part of Alicante with plenty of places to eat. a very nice marina, beach, and shops, and again very clean spent 2 separate days here, or get the tram near hotel the opposite way and a 45 minute to benidorm 2,50 euros again nice and clean with plenty to see and do a bit more commercial than mecado but very nice to walk around and shop, so all in all excellent hotel staff and area and if you want something a little less quiet an easy tram ride to get you around the whole of alicanti which we like doing anyway will definitely be coming back in a couple of years for a bit longer

This was a lovely hotel with really lovely staff!! We were a bit disappointed that the pool hadn't been cleaned and were told this was because it was no longer summer...I'd have thought for a 4-star hotel they'd have the pool clean all year round, especially with 27-29 degree weather!! The staff were super helpful in making sure we could swim in the pool though, going out of their way to clean it for us!! Can't really fault anything else about the hotel, I would definitely return here if I was in this area again...for the views of the sunrise alone!!!

Somewhat disappointing

We liked the position of this hotel in terms of Campello, and its 'nearness' to Alicante. We liked the writeup and the fact that it seemed to have the facilities that we wanted. The size of the room, a fridge in the room, a gym and under ground parking. Unfortunately the twin beds that we had in our room had what appeared to be cheap foam mattresses, there was no tea/coffee facilities in the room and a small LCD television fastened to the wall. The shower controls did not work properly and the gym that they had was a nonsense! All of the equipment broken/ out of order......other than a skipping rope! The breakfasts were ok, offering a continental product range. The parking was priced at €10 a day, and we decided to park in one of the side streets. The staff were nice and helpful; it's just unfortunate that the owners of the hotel don't spend a bit more money and invest in making this into a better hotel

I love this hotel and the area. We stayed in mid September with our 20 month old. The pool is beautiful and child friendly. The hotel is extremely clean and the location is right by the sea and lots of restaurants.

One week stay. Staff friendly and efficient, especially on last day when we had to vacate room before 12 but did not leave for the airport until 7 p.m. Staff provided shower room downstairs and looked after luggage during the day. We did not eat in the hotel as numerous restaurants nearby. About 10 minutes walk from tram station - regular trams to all destinations along the coast.

The hotel is really nice but I can't comment on food as I didn't eat there. The pool shower needs some attention. The problem is there are about 50 or more steps to go down to the beach and to climb back up. It awful. I would have preferred a double bed but they don't have any.

Good hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was excellent. Didn't use the restaurant as I didn't find the dog eared adverts in the lifts very appealing. Pool area small, few beds and just one toilet which was the only area of the hotel that wasn't sparklingly clean. Rooms good, cleaned daily and very well only thing consistently missed was the balcony screen. Beds comfy. Room lacks a useable safety deposit , it does have one but the access code is printed on it (159c) and no one knows how to reprogramme it! 4 star hotel? I don't think it quite gets there but it really is very good and I would stay there again without hesitation.

Found hotel staff friendly and efficient.
Room was clean and tidy except shower head was faulty.
No English channels on sat tv.
Pool loungers etc showing wear.
No hot breakfast items available i.e. Bacon,sausage or eggs.
€10 Euro a night for hotel parking which to me seems very cheeky when paying to stay there.
Having said all the above would stay again.
Oh and soundproofing? Can here room above clip to clop etc.

A 5 minute walk to the beach, 10 minutes to the tram and plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The area is quiet and peaceful with plenty of activities on hand for all. The hotels location is perfect. The hotel was clean, with very polite helpful staff. We had a fantastic time.

My partner and I took our 4 month old baby for a 5 night stay here , could not recommend enough. The hotel was nice and peaceful with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. When we arrived there was a slight issue with the AC and safe in our room but staff dealt with this efficiently and moved us. The view from our room was breathtaking ( floor 8). The beach is within walking distance with a wide range of food places close by. The tram station is also within walking distance, cheap and easy to use. We did a day visit to Benidorm cost us 9€ in total, tickets purchased from machines on the tram.

Nice hotel close to the beach,restaurants etc

Lovely hotel, quick check in. Clean and room nice. No balcony to sit on so maybe request this if you like to sit out. Noisy at nights, we were given a room next to a football team! Seemed crazy put a family with young children on same floor. Great position though and they need more sun beds round the pool and more choice at breakfast. Overall I would return but request a balcony and quiet room.

Great location, room and staff

Only a one-night stay but the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were nice, beds comfortable, shower powerful. Nice to have a fridge but a shame no kettle!
Location great, a quick hop through the back gate to the beach and the many restaurants.

The most welcoming, helpful, smiling staff.

Staff are superb and always willing to help even when dealing with a broad Scottish accent. They were always smiling and seemed very happy in their jobs! The rooms were perfect, however I wouldn't call the small ledge with a barrier a balcony (although some may). This wasn't an issue as we didn't want to spend time in the room other than siestas. The hotel is situated a five minute walk from a very clean golden sands beach. Restaurants and cafes are all local as well as is a Lidl if you are going for some snacks and drinks for the beach. Alicante is only a 30 minute tram away and the tram station is only 8 minutes walk from the hotel. El Campello (the area which the hotel is situated) was much more local than Alicante; the only English spoken to us in El Campello was the hotel staff and when in Alicante i met a fellow Scot in 10 minutes of arriving.

I would recommend this hotel as its everything comfortable that you need from a hotel and is in a lovely peaceful area which isn't swarmed by tourist.

Great place, very reasonably priced would definitely consider going back.

Only real issue i had was the travel to the Hotel on arrival. It is out of the control of the Hotel. My flight didn't come into Alicante airport till after public transport has stopped for the day which meant paying 40 euro on a taxi to the hotel.

Large hotel with family run feeling

I have known Campello for 50 years. La Familia is my preferred choice of hotel. It is on higher ground so has great views but the stairs up to it rule it out for those with mobility issues.

Pleasant, quiet break.

Nice hotel, close to the beach, friendly staff. We joined the hotel for their New Years Eve celebration, although we were the only non Spanish speakers, everyone was very accommodating. Very nice Italian restaurant on the way to the beach

Very central second time we've stayed.

Lovely staff. Good hotel with pool. We really enjoyed our stay in the summer. Only stayed one night this visit till we moved.on but will be back at the end of Mach.

Always enjoyable

Quiet,near beach and town facilities including tram station...Staff very helpful and unobtrusive.
Rooms very comfortable all public areas very clean.. this has delays been the case over the last three years of us staying here

Would recommend

The hotel presentation and cleanliness were excellent but we could sometimes hear loud noise from other rooms. Very good location and helpful staff. Excellent amenities nearby, all only a short walk away, as is the public transport connecting to Alicante and Benidorm etc

My husband had a brandy and coffee on our last day in the bar was charged 7 euros by a barman then he requested another brandy and coffee and was served by a lady from reception and was charged 5.50 euros . Not sure which price was correct!!!!! Apart from that a lovely stay.

Good quality hotel with reasonable breakfast buffet. Value for money. Only negatives were lack of tea/coffee making facilities in room and only one (Sky News) English language TV channel
