The resort is very family focused if you are not in the Adult only section. Most activities are dedicated to the children, and there are many different things for them to do. Excellent programs and activities daily. The pools are lovely, the kids pool with the pirate ship could be cleaner. The accommodations were excellent. We had a swim up pool with adjoining rooms. The beach is great, rough most days and they were constantly cleaning up the seaweed. The food was OK. I would suggest that the adult only restaurants were excellent, great service and food but the others were mediocre and very difficult to secure a reservation. They all had kids menus and the choices I felt were limited and the quality passable. The buffet was ok, lots of choices but I have to say the staff had a full-time job keeping things clean with so many children dropping food and spilling things. And they did a good job of it most of the time. Overall, I felt that the resort was totally focused on keeping the kids happy, and adults were a little neglected. I would have liked some entertainment at the main pool, perhaps some music.

The resort was well maintaned and the staff were really nice. The kids activities were aimed more for 7 and under and the games room had a minimum age requirement of 11 years old. It would be nice to see more geared toward preteens. The scheduled pool and beach avtivities could be better planned by having volleyballs, beach balls, etc available all day for ppl to play. A mic to get more ppl involved for the activities would help. I really enjoyed the aqua aerobics and beach volleyball when enough people were there to play.

Staff was the worst I’ve encountered at a Mexican resort (this being our 4th trip). They constantly seemed annoyed with having to do anything.

The family concierge is not useful at all. I’ve booked a similar concierge room at Palladium Kantenah last year and this is like night and day in terms of quality. We had to reach out to them on our 2nd day when it became obvious that they were not attempting to introduce themselves. We constantly had to remind them that we asked for things like ice (there are no ice machines in this resort, or at least not in the family section that we were in). They couldn’t get us any reservations other than 9pm which doesn’t work with young kids. When walking by the restaurants between 6 and 8, they were never full. Not sure why no resos are available if the restaurants are empty.

Beaches were covered in sargassum, but that’s no fault of the hotel. it did however make the beach unusable.

Room was big however hot tubs on balconies don’t work. You would have to fill your tub for hours to get enough water. This wasn’t just our room, we travelled with 6 other families and none worked.

Some positives: pools and water park were great, buffet was good enough. Swim up bars were great and the drinks were well made.

In summary, not worth upgrading to family concierge and this resort is far from 5 star. Closer to 3.5 if you want to be realistic.

Very clean and beautiful amenities. Food was amazing, all the restaurants and the buffet were very tasty and loved to find authentic Mexican flavours. Pools were very well cared for, a little on the cooler side but very enjoyable. The aqua park was good just wished they had more for the bigger kids like a bigger slide. My 3 kids loved the ice cream parlour and my husband and I loved the nespresso bakery, what a treat having good quality coffee 24/7. Kids also loved the kids club, though I did wish they had a little more sports. The entertainment was also great for families. My only suggestions would be to improve the bedding as the sheets were not very comfortable and neither were the pillows. The rooms were well appointed and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. Another thing we missed was lively music by the pool. It would’ve been great to have more Latin music and dance. We had great service throughout and specially appreciated the pool side and entertainment staff. Omar and Venecia were also very attentive. Most of the staff were very warm but we found some to be a little cold and very focused on the tip. Overall wonderful experience and we already can’t wait to be back.

If you have toddlers — like we do (ages two and four) — this resort is absolutely for you. There were kids everywhere, and so many activities specifically designed for little ones. They really cater to families.

What I loved most is that they also balance it beautifully for parents. There’s an adults-only section, and they offer a daycare/kids club with tons of activities, so you can actually enjoy a fancy dinner or some quiet time while your kids are having fun.

The staff was amazing. The resort itself was beautiful. We honestly weren’t there long enough to explore everything because it’s a large property with so much to do.

One thing I really want to mention — please tip the staff. They work incredibly hard, and what they’re paid is simply not enough for everything they do. Their kindness, energy, and service truly make the entire experience special. A little extra appreciation goes a long way and is very well deserved.

Hands down, this is the best resort I’ve been to — and I usually like trying different ones. This one is truly top-notch.

This resort boasts its family friendly activities, but doesn’t specify that the activities don’t include teen activities. The main children activities very obviously end at age 11. There is a teen club section with no activities planned…. After bringing this to their attention kudos to Abril who did her best to provide some age appropriate activities for my teenage grandchildren! Do not go to this resort if you’re expecting teen groups of fun! Very disappointing!

Overall our experience was subpar. We were not allowed to checkin until 4:30 even thought 3pm checkin was guaranteed. We paid extra for family conceirge which was a huge waste of money. We never met our concierge and he didnt reach out to us until our last day. He was not able to help us get reservations onsite so we had to have dinner offsite. Everyone has family concierge so the \"exclusive\" areas are packed.

The resort is solid with no major issues, but we found the family concierge upgrade not worth the additional price.

Pros:

- Bountiful activities for kids like face painting, balloon animals, bouncy castles, etc.
- Good a la carte options that differ from the buffet food.
- Solid waterpark with both kid and toddler friendly features.
- A kids-friendly main pool that is centrally located
- A smaller and efficient resort layout makes it easy to get around regardless of your location.

Cons

- The buffet food is okay, but it is served in a small room that feels crowded.
- The resort is on the smaller side, and the kid-to-adult ratio is very high, which makes the resort feel chaotic at times. This causes the staff to appear overworked and stressed at times - and I don't blame them.
- They oversell the family concierge, so the \"exclusive\" areas are overrun.
- The concierge pool is supposed to be heated, however the heater is broken and has been for months.
- Even with a pre-arrival concierge and a direct concierge, the reservation system is still difficult. It is still hard to get decent times.
- The beach is nice, but 80 percent of it is unswimmable due to a reef close to shore. People all swim in the same small area.
- Staff are continously trying to upsell premium alcohol at restaurants and on the property itself. We went during the superbowl and they were trying to sell a 750 USD dinner package to watch the game.

We are just wrapping up a week at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The service we received from our Concierge Roxanna was next level, we've never been so personally taken care of. From little gifts and things for the kids, to chilled champagne in our room. She made sure we were well looked after. The weather was a little cooler than expected our first few days, unseasonably so for Mexico, so the pools certainly felt cold. I believe they are somewhat heated, but the resort as a whole is feeling it's age. The room was nice enough for sure for our purposes and we certainly made good use of the outdoor jacuzzi in the cool evenings. The buffet meals were fine, there weren't many options for my wife and kids though like we've had at other resorts i.e. hamburgers, hot dogs and fries etc. the beach is really nice, lots of soft white sand and plenty of seating, although some of the seats and umbrellas are pretty worn out. The nightly entertainment wasn't the greatest we've seen, but the staff are all very friendly and really try to make your stay enjoyable. The water park is lots of fun. With decent slides and a variety even for the little ones. This was a highlight and the best one at any resort we've stayed at thus far. Overall, a great time was had by our family, but this resort (the all ages side anyway) does feel like it's catered to the younger kids (mine are 12 and 9) and it was rare we saw another child my 12 year olds age. Lots of kids in puddle jumpers.

We just came back from a week at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The resort was terrific, great food, very well maintained grounds, beautiful beach. Unfortunately, our stay ended on a terrible note with some of the worst hospitality I’ve ever experienced. We had tried multiple times to secure late check out but were told repeatedly that they could not accommodate the request. So, we booked the hospitality suite for 3:00 given our pre-arranged airport transfer was coming at 3:45. We showed up at 2:55 for the suite and were told it wasn’t ready and they needed 15 minutes to prepare it. I asked if they could please expedite given our timing with our transport. We waited 10 minutes and then asked on the progress. The staff said it still hadn’t been cleaned but they would now call someone. I was upset that they hadn’t even called someone when we first arrived. We waited 5 more minutes and still no one showed up to clean. I asked the front desk staff Carlos to check the state of the suite. We went to look together and the room had wet floors and dirty used wet towels on the floor. He looked at that and said we could use it. I was completely floored at his lack of concern over the state of the room and his unwillingness to try to solve the problem. I asked to have it cleaned up for our use and he said he would call someone. There was absolutely no sense of urgency from the front desk staff at all and they were all completely unempathetic to the situation. Terrible way to end our trip.

On day 5 of our 7-day all-inclusive trip, I discovered a bed bug in one of our beds. Earlier in the week, I had noticed bites but assumed they were mosquito bites. While the hotel staff did respond quickly and moved us to a different room, I was unable to sleep comfortably for the remainder of the stay. The bites continued to grow in size, including one on my face. Thankfully, the bites were isolated to me and did not affect my daughter. However, I only travel once a year, and this incident significantly dampened what should have been a relaxing experience at the Paradisus Hotel. Other than that, the food options were good overall, though it was difficult to book restaurant reservations at reasonable times, so we often defaulted to the buffet. The family shows held in one of the open lobbies were enjoyable and added a fun atmosphere to the evenings. The pool, kid pool, waterpark and beach were enjoyable too.
I am not jaded by Mexico as a destination, but I am not sure how soon I would choose to return to Paradisus again because of this experience.

Far from airport, but worth it to be close to Playa del Carmen and all the attractions. Room was large and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Large breakfast buffet with good food. Complimentary room service for breakfast. Lots of restaurants with good food. Nice pool. The cons - mosquitoes in the room. We would kill a few every night, but would miss one, who would feast on my son while he was sleeping. They clearly fly in when the maid props open the door. Closing the door would be a good preventative measure! On the fifth day, someone showed up asking if we wanted our room sprayed, so was clearly a problem in all rooms. Wish I had known to request on the first day. There are also a ton of coatis roaming around the pool, and rummaging through trash cans. They are cute, but they are wild animals that can bite. Wouldn't want to stay here with small children, as I would constantly be trying to prevent them from petting them. Also had raccoons on the path to our building. Because of the open architecture, one entered our lobby, pulled down the garbage can by the elevator, and scattered garbage all over. We had to wait until it left before going up to our rooms, since we didn't want to risk being attacked. Was also one lying on the stairs. So every night we had to creep up to our room looking for raccoons who might be in our path. I don't think the adult-only section had the same animal problem.

There was a shortage of staff that was more evident during the lunch and dining hours as often only one waiter would be in charged off too many tables which resulted in long waiting times (10-15min) to just get drinks. I was constantly being asked about joining or hearing the hotel’s time share program, this at some point became a little annoying.

Main issue is that all pools were so cold (~76-78 degrees Fahrenheit) that my 4-year old daughter refused to go in any of them. We specifically booked a Family Concierge room because we understood the Family Concierge pool would be heated during the winter (our stay was from 12/27/2025 to 1/3/2026); however, this is absolutely not the case. We complained about it multiple times and nothing was done to resolve the issue. From speaking with other guests, it was clear that many of them were upset about the cold pools as well.

While the beach is nice, food is decent (for all inclusive), and service is fine, the cold pools everywhere (including the pool connected to our Family Concierge swim out room, the family friendly pirate ship pool, the water park, the Family Concierge pool, etc.) ruined our vacation. There literally isn't a single warm pool on the property and there also isn't a single hot tub on the property where you can go to warm up after being in the cold pools. If you want a hot tub, you need to go back to your hotel room and fill up the bath.

Extremely disappointing experience at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen and still in shock that we couldn't find a single warm pool at the resort. We will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel to anyone if you are visiting during the winter months and want to spend any time a pool.

We stayed at Paradisus Playa del Carmen and had an excellent experience overall. The resort truly deserves five stars. Our room was spotless, and housekeeping was outstanding. Every day while we were out, the staff cleaned the room, refreshed the bed sheets, and made it feel like the first day again. The pool area was very clean, well organized, and never felt crowded. Poolside service was attentive, and the drinks were high quality. The pool buffet and lunch options were delicious, with great variety and fresh ingredients. Chefs and staff clearly cared about food quality and presentation.
The main buffet was open from morning until late evening and offered a wide selection. In addition, there were several specialty restaurants with very good food, and reservations were generally manageable. The beach area was clean and relaxing, with towels, a beach bar, and activities like kayaking included. Entertainment and shows were enjoyable and added to the overall experience.
A few small cons: shows were held in different locations each night, so following the schedule was sometimes confusing. Also, some restaurants closed briefly between meal times, and the main pool and pool bar closed around 6 PM, which felt early. Bars in family areas also closed around 10–10:30 PM.
Overall, these were minor issues in an otherwise fantastic stay. We would happily return and highly recommend this resort. Booking through Expedia was smooth, and staff professionalism made the vacation stress free.

There is suppose to be a $200 room credit. That is false. They give you a coupon book if you ask about it. What good is a coupon book at check out. We had 7 rooms half of us didn’t get our bottle of wine. Some got other gifts some didn’t. We all made the same reservation. Staff was great except check in that does not tell you the details. Long check in time. The food was good not great but there were choices.

Buffet was very small and limited, especially given it is the only place we can go for both breakfast and lunch. The little snack bar with coffee maker in family concierge area was concierge only which it doesn’t make a lot of sense since it is in our building hall and we don’t have coffee maker in the room. I can get coffee from nespresso bar but I will have to walk for 10 mins. This is unexpected as it is just coffee nothing fancy

Overall, a very enjoyable stay as the resort is very family friendly. One of the best family resorts we’ve been to. My only feedback would be regarding food allergies at the buffet as nothing was labeled - a small enhancement could go a long way. We’ll be back!

We had such a wonderful stay! All the staff were super welcoming and helpful. The property was very well maintained. Our room was very spacious with plenty of storage space. The room was also cleaned each day thoroughly, and we never ran out of towels. The minibar was also kept filled. The air conditioning kept the room nice and cool. We had a room with a tub and a jacuzzi on the patio, but we did not end up using them as we could not get the water to warm up more than just a bit - this would've been fine during the hot summer, but was a bit too cold to enjoy at the start of December. We spent a lot of our time at the adult side pool, where the pool bar bartender, Rene, was fantastic! He had our drink order memorized right away, day after day. Juan Carlos was also so fantastic in ensuring we enjoyed our stay, celebrating our anniversary and both of our birthdays! He ensured we had reservations at the restaurants, and each dinner was just superb! We took advantage of the coffee bar every day, and enjoyed our cappuccinos at the buffet! If you regularly use the gym, just note that it is a little small and gets filled up during the early morning, but generally clears up late morning. The main walkways throughout the property had many photo ops! And were all just so lovely. The walkway to the beach is just as lovely. Definitely recommend this property if you are looking for a beautiful place to relax!

Stayed at the Paradisus Playa Del Carmen with my family of 4 (kids aged 4 and 6) and we had a great time.

Entertainment: Every morning there was an activity going on for the kid's (balloon animals, face painting, etc). It was super fun and the kids loved it! Edgar and Eduardo were especially great. In the evening, the kids had fun at karaoke night, movie night and the mini dance parties!

Kidsdom (The kids club): The kids still loved hanging out here and they workers were very attentive. Thank you Angeles, Daniela, Denis, Odette, Yessenia, Yadira, Leticia, and Carlota for remembering my kids. The day we left, we stopped by to say our farewell, and they gave the kids little treat bags with Mexican candies!

Pirate Pool/ Aquazone: The kids loved the Pirate ship pool because the water wasnt super deep so they were able to play around easily. HUGE shoutout to our pool server, Socrates! He gave us food and drink recommendations (fish tacos, chicken burger and guava margarita!) He even went as far as searching for the guava flavoring when the Pool bar didn't have it. He was amazing! Aquazone was super fun for not only the kids, but as adults too! Food was freshly grilled upon ordering!

Room: We didn't book family concierge and still had a good room. Snacks were fully stocked each day!

Food: We were pleasantly suprised by the food quality! Capellas was our favourite! Nube bar had the best drinks.

Overall I would recommend to families with small kids!

Jonathan as our concierge was excellent, along with everyone else working there. Amenities, pool, and entertainment were great.

Food was OK. Quality of entries at the a la carte restaurants were hit-or-miss, though the buffet was consistently good.

Room service got at least one part or order wrong every single time, and the app didnt work well.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, and good food. Plenty of activities for kids. The beach is awesome—no sargassum or big waves in late November 2025—and there’s lots of shade under the palm trees, plus beach activities included in the room rate. The pools are clean and warm. The resort has a nice design and is beautifully integrated into the jungle.

What a gorgeous property. I felt so connected to nature during my stay because this property is built within a mangrove. Tons of shade everywhere when you want to get out of the sun and the cutest little Coatis throughout the resort. I love that this hotel was small enough to have everything easily accessible and there was not a need for golf carts to get around like some other massive resorts. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They are so hospitable. Special shout out to Omar. He met our family right when we arrived and he was checking in throughout our stay helping with everything from reservations to beach chairs. If you get him, you’re lucky and make sure you take care of him. He works super hard. The hotel has so many activities and a beautiful kids club for the little ones. Unfortunately mine are too old to enjoy but nonetheless he had a great stay. The architecture and property is incredibly beautiful. All the restaurants are very pretty as well. If I had to pick something to complain about it it would be that the drinks can be watered down at the beach, they don’t serve food at the beach, and the Mexican restaurant Cielo was a big miss for us. I would also like to have seen the older kids be allowed in the adults only restaurants, maybe 16 years old and up. The beach was a little rocky in some areas and the water maybe not as blue as I’m used to in Mexico but that might be because of the seaweed season that just ended. We would definitely come back here

We loved this resort for kids (we travel quite a bit and this resort is one of the best we have been to for kids). The pools were all fun including the water park, pirate pool and main pool. The entertainment was perfect - they had face paint and balloon making set up in the lobby area many times for kids. The shows were at 8pm so great time for kids. The foam party in the pirate pool was also so much fun for the kids. All the staff were great with kids - bar tenders and servers would listen to kids when ordering (at other AIs we’ve been to they tend to ignore kids).

All the restaurants were really good. We didn’t have issues making reservations at any of them. Just did it early on in our trip.

Our room was great. We were upgraded to a family suite - beds were comfy, rooms were clean.

Staff all worked hard. We would definitely stay here again.

Our Family Concierge, Adrian was super helpful and knowledgeable from helping us plan the cenote excursion to making dinner reservations. Wonderful staff. Room cleaned beautifully everyday. Quality food and drinks! The facility itself was so clean and relaxing. Such a beautiful atmosphere. Beyond accommodating for families. The waterpark seriously just adds so much fun for them. We have 3 boys so it was above and beyond for us!! Food was delicious and fresh. I honestly have nothing bad to say.
