Unit is spacious especially the bathrooms, but cleanliness on the flooring could be better. Stafff are very friendly. Buffet breakfast average and many choices. The swimming pools are closing at 7pm hence we didn’t have a chance to utilize them after day trips. Free shuttle bus service provided is great.

We had a lovely stay. The room was newly refurbished and very comfortable and large. The staff without exception were polite friendly and helpful. We had a room with a private roof terrace with a jacuzzi and we would recommend this as the pool despite being very nice does not offer a lot of sun bathing space. Overall very good value.

We found our stay good value for the money we paid. Our room was spacious, cleaned daily, the bed was big and comfortable and the shower reasonably powerful although not always hot but we don’t require that as we prefer cool showers.

The breakfast buffet wasn’t the biggest but it was more than sufficient with fresh fruit, freshly cooked eggs any style you like as well as the usual European and Thai preferences.

We’d stay again so probably cant give a better review than that.

Easy walking to beach, restaurants and bars. Sure, there are some small cosmetic maintenance issues but that’s expected under pandemic circumstances.

This is not what I would call a 4* hotel, it may have been previously but it is very tired and has seen better days.
The bedding and towels were clean but at times were threadbare.
There were no facilities available.
The few staff that were available were friendly and very helpful.
If you're looking for spacious cheap and cheerful accommodation this is it.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The property was extremely disappointing. This is NOT a resort. It is a hotel. There were no amenities. Just a pool. The daily breakfast was day old rice, noodles with eggs made to order. Sliced bread and jam. Coffee and room temp juice. The water pressure was weak. WIFI worked intermittently, not working more than it did especially in the rooms. There was NO room service. The front desk did not answer the phone after 9 pm. The slats in my bed started to fall and the center of the bed sank. It was never fixed while I was there. The rooms were big and we did have a kitchen with fridge
I am sure this place was nice 20 year ago... but not now. If I could, I would ask for a refund.... Do not stay here....

I stay in this property in February 2020. I have booked a "Deluxe room with garden view" and I was assigned a ground floor room with no view/privacy (staff members would park their bike just infront to our glass door). Also some furniture in the room was damaged. I complained to the manager and her reaction was apalling, she said that the room was the "right one" and she was aware about the wrong description but it was not her fault (I would have expected the manager to apologize and offer immidiately another room). I informed the manager that I would have had to take this to expedia and she replied "call them". Obviously i did call them and she assigned a different room. I would reccomend to avoid this hotel, there are some good rooms (this is why some people give a positive review) however the hotel is not nice at all, needs extensive maintainance, the pool area is not inviting at all and the restaurant provides very poor food and service, cleaning of rooms is also inadequate. It feels as a 3 star hotel maximum. Never again!

Private pool with dated rooms

We had the 3 bedroom unit which comes with private pool. this was a great bonus and made our stay. The unit is very dated, kitchen not in a great condition. Rooms are very noisy and light as curtains do not block light out. The beds are very hard and pillows very uncomfortable. The bathrooms are good. The breakfast is nice but no atmosphere at this hotel. About a 15 minute walk to the beach and lots of massage places and restaurants about 5 minutes away which is handy.

Avoid Phunawa resort Phuket - poor value for money

We paid £700 for 4 nights and we were very disappointed with our stay at Phunawa resort. At the time of booking we knew the price we are paying is expensive but thought were paying for quality hence the price. Unfortunately this was not the case.

This hotel is basic at best and does not warrant being a 4 star hotel, in our view. Hotels.com lists Phunawa Resort hotel as 4 star but that's very questionable. I decided to check the hotel online and most websites list it as 3 star, which we believe is a lot more accurate.

The Wi-Fi is near non-existent and was very disappointing. We complained about the wifi every day, and to their credit they tried fixing it but it was a bigger issue. We have up in the end and purchased data on our phones to get internet.

Breakfast is very simplistic and the air con is very loud in the room and it is a struggle getting sleep.

The bathroom seemed to have some sort of mould on the tap and there was random holes in the walls where they've changed wall switches.

We complained at the hotel about some of this but nothing was done about it. We complained to hotels.com and they told the hotel but the manager refused to do anything about it. Definitely not a good experience and wouldn't recommend it at all.

The location is not great and you will need a shuttle service to get to the beach and a taxi to get to the city centre. Taxis will charge you min 300bhatt to take you to the local areas. You are however 15-20 minute walk from Karon beach.

Apartment style great. They definitely need to sort breakfast always cold except made to order omelettes not a lot of variety. Easy walk to town. Bits of rubbish left around grounds not picked up for days but rooms cleaned. Would not take much to bring standard up.

Terrible stay at Phunawa Resort

The service from the resort staff was poor. We were only assisted after asking a few times for the same thing. Breakfast was average and the same food repeated everyday. Some of the food was also stale and not kept warm. The beds were absolutely hard and could feel the springs when sleeping on the bed. The rooms were not kept clean on a daily bases. We knew that the rooms weren't swept as the beach sand from our shoes were still on the floor till the day we left. As a family we were very unhappy with the stay at the resort.

Pluses:
- friendly staff
- room upgrade to 2 bedroom unit
- shuttle to Karon beach
- free breakfast, reasonable quality
- location is near some convenient shops and small restaurants.
Minuses:
- bed was very hard, enough to bruise my hips. The bed in the other room was softer, should have kicked the kids out of there.
- it took 2 days to get a microwave for the room.
- location is about 20 minutes walk to Karon shops.
- breakfast's not as flash as some of the bigger resorts, selection of Thai dishes plus croissants, omelettes, etc.

Not the resort's fault but it is located in Karon and the best shopping and entertainment is in Patong area. Tuk tuk prices are pretty fixed at 350 baht each way so it adds a bit of cost to your day.

Despite the beds being very hard and a leaking roof as we were there for the wet season we really enjoyed our stay.
The staff were all super nice especially the restaurant ladies and loved teaching our 6yo words in Thai and the happy hour was great.. I suggest the frozen daiquiri 😊 if I wasn't so picky with food we would go back to Thailand and would stay there again!

the Facilities are dated and in disrepair our stove only had one burner that worked. Our air conditioner leaked and after they fixed the unit we had to clean up the water left behind. The beds were hard as rocks with no support. The manager and office staff were unable or in willing to help. The best part of the hotel was the restaurant staff which were amazing. The facilities are in desperate need of upgrades but the location was good nice and quiet and not to far from many things to do or see.
Change the manager and upgrade the rooms and pool this would be a 5star resort as is I rate as a 2 maybe a 3 because of the restaurant staff

It's not the flashest hotel but the workers were really helpful and nice. We went there with a family of 18 for my mother's 60th and we enjoyed our stay there. Kids are pretty cruisy as long as there is a pool kids are happy. The only thing is that the cleaning was done a bit late so we had to wait for a while for towels and most of expenses were on tuktuks or taxi to patong from karon as it is about 10-15k away from hotel. But if you prefer a not so busy area then Karon is a good area to station. Overall we loved our stay

Later check-in staff not at all welcoming. Like it was a inconvenience even though I had communicated my arrival time and received a acknowledgement from the resort. No functioning sliding door lock/latch on room when shown the room. this was of no concern to the front desk.
Morning breakfast staff were the complete opposite!! Phai and Noon(+ others) spectacularly good at their job, Very professional and accommodating. The breakfasts and the pool(s) are the highlights for me for sure.
Room cleaned every day but at odd times. Toilet/shower room door handle broken and door kept jamming closed (sticking), gave up asking to get is fixed after asking repeatedly and 6 days.
A lot of things are run down and in desperate need of some routine maintenance but for the price I paid it was a very nice stay

Considering how inexpensive the rate is for this room, it is way better than what you pay for! It’s only a mile away from Karon Beach and is close to a lot of restaurants. I would stay here again!

Great location, secluded enough to be quiet and private, but not too far from the beach, shops etc. Very good facilities, two bathrooms in the apartment, the pool right in front of it so you can watch kids playing from the room. The restaurant was good and tidy. Reception staff could do with a bit more foreign language skills.

Staff are lovely but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for the poor standard of the accommodation. The pool especually is in really poor state and is clearly not maintained and definitely not hygienic We only stayed 3 of the 10 nights booked (currently waiting on a refund of 7 nights which the are saying may take 3weeks!) as after the first day using the pool 2 of the party had cut their feet on broken tiles and also had come down with illness. We had to move elsewhere which ended up costing us significantly more as we had limited choice at short notice. In addition we had to waste the best part of 2 days of our holiday finding somewhere else and arranging the move.

The room was not available until the next day of my booking. When we went back the next day they upgraded us to a Junior suite.
The curtains where filthy, the rooms had a bad smell. Over all it is very run down and in need of a great make over. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We liked the large fun pool and the location close to the beach. It was a 15 minute walk to the beach, but it was easy and close to the market. It was not nearly as crazy or dangerous as Patong. The restaurant was astonishingly slow for lunch (1 hour wait with no one else there). They blamed it on the large New Year Eve party the night before. We ate the next day at the restaurant in the resort next door and it was awesome. The food at Phunawa was ok once it showed up. Both western and asian.

Comfortable resort with a quieter local area

The resort was lovely, with a good breakfast buffet which changed slightly daily, and shuttles to the beautiful beach nearby, a great pool, and cheap local eats nearby. There is also a bus stop near the beach to go to Patong. The spa services at the resort were very expensive compared to what you can find in Karon and Patong. I highly commend the staff- they were accommodating and friendly, and always willing to answer guest questions. Although the resort itself was family friendly, I wouldn’t really call the local area family friendly as it is very busy with tourists, footpaths are narrow, and there isn’t much escape from the heat. However, I think this area would be more family friendly than Patong.

Phunawa Resort more than met our expectations on our 2 week stay. Located up on a hill, 10 minutes walk from Karon beach, the free shuttle service to and from the beach was a plus. The staff were wonderful. I would recommend this unique resort to anyone wanting to visit Phuket.

This was our second stay at Phunawa. We had a two bedroom junior suite and a one bedroom apartment with rooftop terrace. Both rooms were cleaned daily and plenty big enough. the rooftop pool area we used all the time which was nice for that extra bit of privacy. The breakfast was good with enough variety for most people and we found all staff to be friendly. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the main part of Karon, but we hired motorbikes so that was not an issue for us. The hotel does have a shuttle that takes guests to and from the beach area a few times a day if you didn't want to walk. Overall very good value for money and we would stay here again.

Photos dont give an accurate impression. The resort is old, run down and tired. Needs revamping badly. Short staffed and short of stock in the restaurant. Staff that were there were friendly and helpful but pool was dirty and all the external wooden furniture and exterior needed cleaning due to black mould. No lift and steps are are hard to manage with a large tread and no safety rail in places. Had prepaid but only stayed one night! Left and went to Novotel.

Suitable for family. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Always smiling and caring. Hotel suite spacious and comfortable. Microwave, plates and utensils available for use. Good breakfast. Beach towel available at hotel restaurant.
Unlike what reviews said about Phuket hotels, this hotel allows early check in at 11+ am without me requesting. 24hours front desk. I checked out at 5am, just need to inform them one day earlier, they were kind to offer me free packed breakfast also. Check out was fast.

Only thing is the marble flooring in the kitchen area a bit slippery, need to be more careful. Mattress is a bit on the hard side but still quite comfortable.

Good hotel, just needs some maintenance, especially pool tiles. Service was good but not all requests were met. Eg we wanted two apartments together. Booked months in advance but the apartments were polar opposites to one another. I asked for 2 single beds and got a double but was too jet lagged to complain. These are just niggles, didn’t ruin the holiday. Breakfast was OK. Dinner menu was OK, not great but didn’t stay there to eat there. Was a great base for enjoying what the area has to offer ie amazing beaches, snorkelling and a great choice of places to eat. Good value for money if booked on an offer price.

Resort is convenient and within 10 min walk to beach. Rooms large and comfortable but cleaning service is limited. Only draw back was hardly any staff understand any English otherwise I would recommend this resort for location facilities security and absolute serenity away from the chaotic beach side strip of Karon.

Hotel was appropriately situated for us, didn't mind a stroll in to Karon and there was a mini bus for those who did. Nice quiet spot. Lots to do in and around Karon. Our room was adequately equipped and cleaned daily but a little on the tired side. Great pool and jacuzzi with towels to use on poolside or take to the beach. Some staff not altogether flexible but the rest ok. I've no plans to return to Karon but would recommend the venue to anyone who was.

Worst place to stay, won't book with wotif again

I trusted Wotif and that's the reason booked with phunawa resort. It was the worst experience ever. Even though I paid the highest dollar amount, but the service, me and my family got was poor. The taps in the room were broken, the breakfast as promised was finished before we got to the breakfast table at 9:30 am, I have the pictures of empty plates in case someone wants them. The fruit at the breakfast was full of flies and mosquitos. They won't Gve u water to drink unless u pay for it. I shall never book with them or wotif again.

We booked this hotel as we could have a 3 bedroomed suite with lounge, kitchen and our own roof terrace with hot tub. The suite was good except there was nothing to use in the kitchen to cook with if you wanted. Numerous bulbs were not working outside the suite door and on the roof terrace, request made for them to be replaced but only some were. Hotel pool not very good, breakfast was okay at best and was even told that they had run out of milk for cereal. Only after we and another guest asked repeatedly for milk did they go and get some. Hotel looked tired and was in need of a spruce up. Parking for the hire car was not ideal as it was at the bottom of the complex and our room was at the top building and on the top floor.( not for the faint hearted). Hotel suite was not cleaned very well during our stay. We noted the same object on the bathroom floor for 5 days before it was cleaned! The potential is there to make the hotel really good but it lacks the attention to detail that it needs. The only benefit was the fact we had a suite instead of 2 hotel rooms but i missed the proper hotel feel to our stay. Would most probably not stay here again.

Wish we picked another hotel. Pool was very dirty. The kitchen staff needs help. The beds are horrible-hard as a rock. At the end the manager accused me of giving her fake USD, I can't believe she went there!

ruined my holiday

I genuinely thought this was a 4* hotel and was really looking forward to going with my kids (4, 2 and 8 months). It was a major decision travelling with kids such young age. However, the holiday from hell began as soon as we set foot in the place. There was no welcome drinks, the lobby had no sign of coolness of a hotel, it just had an office desk, workers looked like housekeepers, no one dressed the part. Our room 1121 two bed room junior suite was filthy, the toilet seat had stain, other toilet seat was broken, the bath had so much mould you could scrape it with your finger tip. On top of that, I witnessed the cleaner put toilet brush in the bath to clean. They don't use soap, just simply wipe everything with the wet towel. I was horrified at what I saw, I told the cleaner to clean it again with sponge and liquid. I was also worried that next time I'm not in the room she might take revenge, I politely requested her to clean again. It was just disgusting. They have chipped plates in the kitchen with stain on it. I wanted to take picture of everything, sadly my camera wasn't working on the phone. The pool was dirty too, the 4* they got it must have been when it was new, it's just nasty and ruined our holiday. The staff were even worse, unfriendly, one staff thought I was eating breakfast twice having mistook me for another family. It was so embarrassing as he stopped me and said if I'm coming for 2nds. Stay away from this place and strip the 4*, doesn't deserve anything.

pleasant place to stay

The hotel was pleasant enough, a little far from the centre of karon for my liking. In some areas the hotel was a little run down and could do with a little work, nothing major just some touch ups here and there. Nice pool, though the spa could have done with a scrubbing it was a little slimy in parts. The rooms were spacious although the bed was a little firm. The breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Nice hotel with high end upgrades.

I would have given the hotel a 5 in every category has the hotel not be short staffed in the restaurant. It took a very long time for dinner. The front desk and manager were very nice and accomadating. As far as the hotel itself, it's amazing compared to all the other surrounding hotels.

Getaway in Karon Hills

Fast and kind check in, the reception staff is excellent. You actually get a nice flat not a room. Room service also great. Motorbike renting works swift and well also by good staff. The breakfast was also very good, although the staff at the breakfast were a bit unorganised. Many times noone was at the egg station and during our 5 days long stay nobody bothered that most of the saltcellars were empty day after day for the whole stay. All together I highly recommend this place.

Not so convenient

The hotel facility is just basic, but located at uphill so not so convenient for families with old people and young children.
Timing for shuttle services are limited, not shuttle in the evening/early night. Staff at cafe are not so friendly.

Spacious but remote distance

The hotel is spacious even the lobby is small and narrow. Breakfast is average international buffet. Swimming pool is circling around the restaurant, looks beautiful but not big. Bubble function is fun for kids. Only bad thing is a bit walking distance to beach and no much shops along the road.

Had severe food poisoning on the 4th night...began around 2am. When my partner ran to the front desk to seek help, was told that he was on his own, and couldnt help or leave his desk. Was provided with headache/pain tablets. Needless to say, had to spend 4hrs in patong hospital before feeling well enough to return to resort...was driven there by my partner, because i can assure you, i was barely able to walk at that stage. Id hate to think what wouldve happened if i was on my own, seeking help from the resort, and was told "you're on your own". Not good enough. Regardless of how good or bad the resort is (and it is average at best for the money you are paying), that particular incident, says a thousand words. Poor customer service at a dire time of need.

This facility is not 4stars, away from the main streets. The front desk rate for taxis are overpriced. 15min walk to main streets and take taxi for half the price. Overpriced hotel, there are plenty of hotels by krone beach. The only bright spot was discounted Spa services 50% off. Ladies are great with Spa service. Over worked staff as it reflects with their services

Resort Like Stay

The Jr Suite was good. It was value for money. This was the best part of the hotel stay. Private, Peaceful and just nice for the family of four. The Suite was next to the pool. In the evening you can relax outside with a nice breeze.

Walking distance to the beach but isolated

Hotel is clean. However no toothbrush was provided. There are only three timings to the beach if you want to take the hotel shuttle service. So much more could be done as the hotel have so much more potential.
Buffet breakfast was so so. Quality is there but variety is very limited.

Very poor experience wont be back.

Very little staff available, poor restaurant & food. Worst i have ever encountered. We have breakfast & dinner at the resort next door at Pacific Club. The Staff & food where great. They even let us use their pool, so nice. Speak to Chia Mgr great man. We asked the staff about why the up stairs bar was closed, reply from staff, No staff!!!!!!! During the day we went to spend day around pool etc with our girls after day before doing to Phi Phi. 1 person manning the so called bar & restaurant. Couldn't help with drinks or food again poor service. Overall worst experience ever.

Hotel would of been great in its day.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is getting a bit old in parts but the rooms were ok, a bit mouldy smelling but you cannot expect any different considering the weather. No hot water in kitchen and one of the showers??? Not much in the way of kitchen utensils if you were wanting to cook. Pool was good and looks great in the photos. Staff were all good and the massage was one of the best my husband had. He had a sore back and she did a very hard massage on him, and she was the only one that could fix him. Free shuttle into to town, as too far to walk, but only one to return so we paid a tuk tuk back when we wanted to return $200 bht. Overall a four star resort was as expected. We stayed in 2 other 5 star resorts and this wasnt too bad for the price. A bit out of the way.

Nice appartments but lacked comfort

We recently stayed at the Phunawa Resort. The actual apartment was clean and adequate for what we needed but lacked thought. We only had seating in the lounge to relax for 2 but the apartment was for 4. There were not many sun loungers around the pool and if you have kids the pools are all spread out so difficult to keep your eyes on them. The breakfast was ok but nothing special the rooftop bar never opened in the whole 10 days we were there and the so called kids club was just a room with not a lot in it at all.
All in all the hotel is good as a base but not a very relaxing and chilled out experience.

Nice and comfort

This resort without grand lobby, just a small reception. We have upgraded from Junior suite to the deluxe suite with the pool view, nice and comfort enough and we can cook dinner at small kitchen. Breakfast is not wide selection and almost same every day. You have to walk down hill for eating and beach, over all is good hotel!
