The pictures are accurate that others have submitted. It is an old hotel and is certainly not on the beach or in some park like setting as some travel website photos might indicate. This is set right in an urban area and is an old, mostly well kept hotel. The price of a room somewhat indicates what you should be expecting. I was generally happy with the situation. The room did look like a 1950's motel, but that was ok because it was very clean. Everything did work. The a/c was a bit noisy, but did work. The employees really tried hard and the breakfast, although simple, was clean and generally fresh .....the employees were friendly and accommodating. So, I was basically o.k. with the negatives (the place is a homeless encampment on the streets outside) and the neg. interior issues. It was a good cheap pick to chill for the weekend and get something done at the embassy next week. There even was a super friendly English speaker on the front desk to smooth any rough edges out. So again, I was a happy camper..... until my horrible check out. Btw, I leave my room the way I found it, or as close to, when I check out ....just a matter of respect to the cleaner. In any case, I get to the front desk with my bags and the English speaker is on meal break. Ok, no big deal. Some lady I have not seen before presents me with a bill for some bottles of water. I haven't used any. There is a supermarket a short distance away. She keeps pushing the bill towards me and saying 'fr

We have stayed at this hotel several times. The staff and quality of services are good, with a friendly atmosphere. However the rooms are tired and in need of a thorough makeover to modernise and bring them up to a more acceptable standard. Location is good near to Flamengo beach and bus and metro transport, and also near to Santos Dumont airport, Sugar Loaf Mountain within walking distance.

Beach, and the Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pao de Açucar) as well as public transport facilities. However it is increasingly in need of a major refurb throughout, and although clean has a very tired appearance. Staff friendly and very helpful.

Not what was expected given the price
The bed was quite uncomfortable as the mattress and pillow were very hard/firm. The walls were also very thin which minimized the quietude of my own room. It is also the first hotel I've ever stayed at (in any price range) where no shampoo was provided and only one bar of soap was available which needed to be used both for the shower and for washing hands.

It was a mediocre hotel, people were nice, but very no frills. My first room didnt have a steady wifi connection, which I needed for work, but they moved me to a room on the top floor with a nice view and better reception. It was complete with a sketchy jacuzzi tub that looked rusted and from 1973. The immediate area was pretty urban with not much to do, but it was a few blocks from a nice park and two different subway stops that were easy to get around with. There was also a cute little bar for locals called Bartman right across the way, I went there a few times. I felt like the hotel was overpriced.

My wife and I really enjoy our stay in this hotel. The customer service was excellent, every time we had questions about a tour or how to get to an attraction they helped us with out hesitation and always recommended the best option. The Breakfast buffet was delicious and fresh every morning. not a single complain, I would totally recommend this to a friend.

This hotel was adequate for my needs as I wanted a comfortable room with just the basics. It had all the necessities such as A/C, bathroom, fridge. The room I was given was very large and had a large bathroom, but looked like it hadn't been re-decorated since the 1970's - apart from the flat-screen TV. The bathroom also harked back to a bygone era with a sauna room & a large hot-tub, but neither of which seemed to be functioning. The staff were generally helpful & friendly. The Wi-Fi worked well in the lobby, but was much slower or often lost connection in the room.

The Rondonia Palace is in a pretty good area, 1 1/2 blocks from Flamengo beach (although the sea water there is bad) and a couple blocks from the subway station. We got in on an early flight and they let us check in early. The breakfast buffet is nice and we got room service once. The room is dated but comfortable. It was easy to get anywhere from the hotel. The only downside was communication. A couple of the staff spoke some english but the rest of the time I needed to use my 2 weeks' cramming of Portuguese or Spanish.

O ponto mais crítico é a ausência de box no banheiro e mesmo tendo uma cortina bem simples de plástico isso não impede que o banheiro alague visto que a parte do chuveiro é extremamente pequena . O café da manhã bastante simples com poucas opções . O ar condicionado faz um barulho terrível e o colchão da cama duro. Pelo valor cobrado da diária eles poderiam meslhorar muito.

Ao questiona-la sobre o erro, ela me parece um tanto soberba em seu tim de voz e depois de alguma insistencia, concordou que eu pagasse somente o que consumi, ainda que me pareceu que ela nao tneha acreditado em mim. O café da manhã tinha pouca variedade, espaço pequeno. O quarto amplo, limpo porém as instalações obsoletas. Ar condicionado barulhento. Fiquei no mesmo andar e ao lado do setor das camareiras e algumas vezes era bem barulhento. O hotel só tem dois elevadores que são em comum com serviço do hotel, meio chato e muitas vezes precisamos esperar o elevador desocupar. Localização ótima.

Na rua do hotel tem vários restaurante maravilhosos, em seguida fomos para um hotel em Copacabana (que já havíamos reservado) super renomado e não gostamos tanto quanto esse.

O hotel é antigo, mas está em uma otima localização. O quarto que fiquei era enorme com um banheiro também bem grande mas ambos bem antigos, a primeira impressão parece estranho, no meu quarto continha uma sauna desativada no banheiro, o modelo do sanutário bem antigo, porém, estava tudo bem limpo e a cama era confortável e o ar condicionado funcionou bem. O café da manhã continha o essencial, que se repetiu todos os dias, mas não senti falta de nada.
