After booking with hotels.com stating that there was 3 travelling including a teenage child. They put us in a completely incorrect room with a cot. Having had to state this was not good enough they finally agreed to change our room.

Terrible hotel for beginning to end. This is not a 4 star hotel. It’s no better than a roadside motel. Staff were indifferent to ineffective. Never told us if there was wifi. Asked for shower cap and was told they would bring it. Never came. Tried to call front desk, no one answered and the guy wasn’t busy. Hotel smelled like smoke on the first floor. Elevator didn’t work well. Lock to our room door was broken and we had to use our travel scissors and tweezer to free ourselves. Shower head flooded the bathroom. Carpet was filthy. Fake leather couch peeled off onto clothes. Dead rat in the parking lot. Dinner option in the restaurant was a self serve buffet that was disgusting. Zero amenities. One bottle of sparkling water on day one and nothing the other day. Nothing in mini bar. Vending machines by the elevator was the only option or restaurant where a large bottle of water was €6. One bottle of soap attached to wall and one by sink. Nothing else. This was basically a cheap motel with pillows smelling like smoke. We will stay elsewhere next time and taxi in. This place was disgusting.

Large older hotel in reasonable location for centre about a 10 minute walk. Sufficient free car parking. Room was a little tired but had a fridge and seating area. The problem was the very small bathroom and high bath to climb in for a shower. With the shower board it was a very tight space especially for myself with arthritis. Breakfast was ok but very busy..hotel was full due to footie match. Staff were very efficient. Bar very quiet in the evening. Lacked a bit of atmosphere but expect many guests went out..no dinner on offer but very good German bar a couple of minutes walk away.

After checking in and getting a room with a view across the park in front of the hotel a group gathered in the park and started playing some really loud music, the hotel reception staff immediately offered a different room at the other side of the hotel which although not having such a good view was lovely and quiet!! There was a good selection of bars and restaurants a short walk away.

It is old and tired. The lifts re over 50 years old. On occasion they don't work and you have to walk down. No air conditioning in the room. At least it didn't work and the reception staff just shrug their shoulders

Easy to find the hotel. Decent parking right out front. Helpful and pleasant reception staff who spoke English. Rooms are large and comfortable with coffee machine and bottled water. Good bar, superb beer and a good hot and cold breakfast. Not a holiday hotel but a great overnight rest in comfort.

Spacious rooms, plenty of convenient self-parking on premises, good breakfast buffet, and good location. The only not-so-good experience was using the soap dispensers. They are hard to squeeze and, therefore, not user friendly for guests with arthritis (like us). Otherwise, recommended!

Good hotel in great location. Friendly staff and helpfull staff. Was a bit disappointed in a room as I booked double bed, but received twin beds and due to design of the room couldn't push them together even. When open the draw to put my bit in, found a bag with a peace of bread which was hard as a rock. Cleaners doesn't clean rooms properly. Breakfast buffet was good with plenty to choose from and again, staff in the breakfast area were very nice. Restaurant actually closed over weekends which is very inconvenient, but there are couple places were to eat around. Overall good, but can be better.

Great hotel for the price. The local town is a few minutes walk away. An addition of a fridge and a safe would probably make the room 4star. Room does have wardrobes and a kettle and wash items. Rooms are a little loud at the front of the hotel with traffic sound and church bells but I was that tired I slept through it. Staff are very good and prices are good. Breckfast is too expensive for me €15 only 6 in the bakers a few minutes walk away.

That was my second time, it is the former Holiday inn, back side rooms are the superior and front side are the standard rooms from the days of Holiday inn.
These rooms are old but in a good condition and really clean, also a bit noisy if you open windows because front side facing a main street, the only miss is that there are no in room Safecase at all and not all rooms having a Fridge/mini Bar
They have also a nice Restaurant and a nice Bar.
Staff in general they are all friendly.
Five minute walk to the city centre (climbing satires of 60 steps nearly).
In general it deserve to stay there if you are not from that luxurios society who looks for 7 Stars

This hotel is the former Holiday inn
They have some renovated rooms, and other standards still from the former days.
Standard rooms are spacious with all facilities (no safe box), front rooms have a nice view.
A little bit extra cleanings with a bit more care about standard rooms condition would make these rooms (five star).
Very close to the city center and activities.
Friendly staff in general, especially one receptionist from spain, he is extra kind.
It deserve what you pay

The hotel was simply lovely. We had a room with a view to the Muenster and especially in the night with the lights on, it's gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean as expected. Our only problem was the tea/coffee making facilities. The choices for tea were weird and no black tea available. Equally, there was no milk, only coffee whitener. We went out and bought our own. Sorted. Everything else perfect.

We have stayed here a number of times as its a good location to travel to Christmas markets in Koln and Düsseldorf by rail . Easy to walk to the train station and hotel is two minures walk from the centre of Monchengladbach. Only downside were the Four coach loads of guests - the breakfast room staff struggled to refresh food, clear tables, replenish crockery and cutlery et. Rooms are clean and comfortable with good facilities and the breakfast is very good.

Monchengladbach away trip

I was in Monchengladbach for a Champions League football match (MCFC). The hotel was within easy walking distance of the town centre, very clean, good room facilities and with a great little pub/bar across the road. Also on a bus route to the main train station. Would recommend.

The hotel is located fairly close to resturants, and shopping... You can walk to most areas...
The staff speaks a little English & are friendly and helpful.
The room is big, clean and rooms on the street side of the Hotel have a great view.
The one negative about the hotel is they advertize free WiFi for your stay. The WiFi is in fact free however it is terrible & on the same site they give you to login they offer faster WIFI for rather expensive additional fee.. If you use WIFI while traveling you will need to purchase the faster WIFI as the free WIFI is extremely slow. Other than having to purchase usable WIFI at this hotel my stay was very pleasant...

I will stay again but more for location and convenience. The staff were as helpful and friendly as most other hotels and the breakfast was of a good standard. Two impressions are left in the mind after the event: this hotel needs refurbishment. It is getting tired and is in need of some upgrade in order to remain competitive. Secondly, almost all guests were business travellers so when arriving mid to late evening it isn't unreasonable to expect more than just pizza on the bar menu. It was a nice pizza but from a large hotel I would have expected more.

It is a a very nice and clean hotel. Breakfast was spread was very good. Breakfast included the best Tea. There was even champagne which I did not partake. Walk to city center with nice restaurants. Across from a beauitiful church. very nice staff. Only thing is that it was very cold in mid March and 40 minutes from the Dussledotf station by Taxi.I believe, there is convenient train as well which i did not use. Excellent price performance.

We stayed for two nights on our way to North Germany, we had been before. The hotel is situated close to the town centre and the station is in walking distance. We enjoyed the pool and sauna immensely as there was nobody else in there. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is quite expensive but truly wonderful in its choice and quality. The rooms were very comfortable, so all in all very good value for money.

Decent hotel with a few gotchas

The hotel itself was fine, clean and comfortable. There was nothing wrong about the hotel nor any reason not to recommend the hotel. However, there were a few annoyances. There was no safe in the room, there was no complimentary network access, the breakfast buffet was pretty expensive, and you have to pay an additional fee to park here. I'd suggest you skip the buffet and grab pastries at the bakery across the road.

1x und nie wieder.
Hotelzimmer stank nach Kloake.
Zimmereinrichtung war voller Staub. Auf den Bettlaken war ein gelber Fleck, keine Handseife.
Ich war schon in vielen Hotels, aber das war eine Frechheit. Frühstück war ok, aber Erlebnis. Dame bei Ankunft war muffelig. Der Herr beim ausschecken war nett. Auch die Bedienung beim Frühstück.
