Nice boutique hotel in central Frankfurt

Nice boutique hotel right in the middle of Frankfurt city centre, just off the main shopping street Zeil. Was visiting Frankfurt for the Xmas markets which were within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Lovely, friiendly, welcoming staff. Great selection for breakfast, the room was very comfortable and a great shower.

Be aware that smoking is permitted in the hotel and there is a small lounge off the dinig area where this is permitted. However, neither the dining room nor our room smelt of smoke.

Lovely little hotel in the main shopping area

Location was excellent, though we did have a hard time finding it in the dark and in the middle of the Christmas market. The staff was excellent, the rooms quite spacious, the breakfast was good and they even have cake, tea, and coffee in the afternoon.

The property has great potential but needs some attention and maintenance to really make it an excellent property. We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, although the towel warmer didn’t work and the shower had broken fixtures. We did appreciate the complimentary breakfast. Overall, a positive experience and would stay again.

The Zentrum -- Close and Convenient Budget Hotel

Close walking distance to Paulsplatz, several of the local cathedrals and other dining and shopping options. It is also a fairly short walk (10 minutes or so) to the Frankfurt Hbf (main train station) which is very convenient if traveling light and it can save you 10-15 Euro versus a taxi. The proximity of the train station also makes it a good jumping off location for trips to Munich, etc.

As with most European hotels the rooms can be very \"efficient\" with regard to size and amenities when compared to U.S. hotels. The Zentrum is an older hotel but it was clean and well appointed for the money. Since it is located across the street from a rather good sized shopping plaza and bierhaus, it can get a bit noisy of Friday and Saturday nights. Also, two additional things worth mentioning. First, don't forget to bring you plug adaptors/convertors for recharging your electronics! While some hotels will provide a \"loaner\" don't count on it. We had our own so I am unable to comment on whether the Zentrum provides them or not. Second, most German cities have a local tourist tax. Throughout our travels, it averaged about 8 euro/day and it is collected at check out.

The location is great. It is right beside the st. Catherine church. The lobby is pleasing, a typical German decoration with comfortable table and chairs for breakfast and afternoon tea and coffee. All is included in the hotel price. The room size is okay and the bed is comfortable except bathroom is small and water spilled everywhere when taking shower. Overall it was a wonderful experience in Frankfurt. We love to return soon to the same hotel as the staff are very welcoming!!!

Great location, great staff. Two problems, weather was hot and no air conditioning but did have a fan. What really bothered me was the internet / wifi did not work very well, it would work for a few minutes than stop, later would work again then stop - very aggravating.

Decent hotel a few blocks from the train stati

The hotel is a 10 minute walk at most from the train station. As with most train stations, the area is rather grimy, but the hotel is better than it might appear from the outside. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. No AC. Opening the windows should do it but it took time at summer temperatures. The front desk could have done with a bit more language fluency--could not find names without seeing them written. The breakfast buffet was half what you'd see at other hotels, e.g. no eggs. The place is just fine for staying overnight while in transit.

Good hotel in center of Frankfurt

Overall location is good. Short walk to Frankfort old town and it's traditional German restaurants, as well as to much shopping (large, modern mall across the street, with boutiques in the area) and many non-German restaurants. Hotel is located on 3rd floor of a building, just above a store, so you must take an elevator or stairs up to the reception desk. Interior of rooms were nice, recently re-done in an industrial-type decor, and much nicer than the exterior of the building. Parking is a bit of an inconvenience, as we parked at the Kaiserplatz area, which is about a 5-8 minute walk from the hotel. Wifi worked very well, and was free of charge. Good location, comfortable hotel, and I would recommend.

Newly decorated with very friendly staff!

We loved the hotel. First of all, we booked this place because the rating was great and the price was very reasonable, given the location of the hotel right in the middle of the city. Check-in was very pleasant - the owner apparently took care of the check-in and check-out. The room is new and well-designed, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was great. We really liked the hotel and said that to the owner many times. It's really simple, yet very cosy. Highly recommended!

Acceptable, but take note: NO airport shuttle

The room location is the best part. The room was very small & simple. It was clean, but there was a faint smell of smoke and stains on the curtains. It was perfectly fine for the one night I needed a place, however the hair dryer didn't work so I had to leave with wet hair because they could fine a replacement anywhere. My biggest issue is that there was no airport shuttle like is advertised here on Hotels.com. I'm not sure if that's the hotel's fault or Hotels.com that this is advertised in error, but it was the main reason I booked this place the night before I flew out, so I was very disappointed.

Great Location - Great Staff!

The location was perfect for our visit to Frankfurt - we could walk everywhere! The breakfast was included and great - something for everyone including scrambled eggs and pancakes.
Finally, I can't say enough about the staff, particularly Nick, who helped us retrieve an item we left in the hotel room. Nick had great communication via email. He located the item, packaged the item and held it until we could get things coordinated to have it picked up by UPS to be sent back to us in the US.

The location is great, and I could easily walk to the cathedral, shopping centers, Christmas market and restaurants. The only issue was that my shower seemed to be missing a door and the lighting in the room was dim. Otherwise the staff was excellent and the hotel seemed quite secure.

The hotel is mid renovation, so the reception and rooms are fresh modern industrial in style. The bathrooms were brand new and well appointed. The only negative was a lack of air conditioning and the night we were there was quite hot! They do provide a fan though.

Small hotel, good location. Needs a bit more work

The Hotel was undergoing renovation. Our room was clean and the renovation finished. Some parts of the renovation, however, were not well completed. The bathroom was nice looking and recently completed, however it seemed to be hastily finished. The bracket for the shower was broken already and the rain shower did not work at all. Several hooks for towels were placed with only one screw and would probably come loose soon. The Hotel was difficult to find and the elevator was very small. Breakfast was OK although the facilities for serving were makeshift. I noticed a coffee cup with a crack and a chip and brought it to the attention of the serving staff, but she merely put the cup back into the drawer with others that would be used. In all, our stay was OK and the beds were comfortable. For a small hotel, it was adequate and certainly in a convenient area of the city.

I very much enjoyed my three nights stay at the Zentrum and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The hotel as gone for an industrial décor with exposed ventilation pipework in reception, metal chain curtain in the restaurant, old cinema seats in the lounge and desk laps for ceiling laps. The road it sits in is used as a drag strip by motorbikes and supercars at dusk. The only negative is lack of air conditioning in the rooms but this is offset by the free afternoon tea and cake.

Hotel under renovation

The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation and it probably shouldn't be operating as a hotel in the present condition. Our bathroom overflowed after the first shower because the drain was clogged, probably from dirt, there were wires hanging from the ceiling, the paints were unfinished in places, the WiFi got disconnected from time to time and every time one needs to get a new password from the reception for each device, which was inconvenient. The hotel has a lot of potential because of the location and the kind of renovation they are doing, the staff is also helpful, but I haven't ever stayed in any hotel room that was in such a stage of renovation and I wouldn't have booked it if I knew beforehand that they were charging us quite a large amount (comparable to prices of US 3-4 star hotels) for a work that is far from ready to be rented out.

That night in Hauptwache....

I have been staying at this hotel for close to 8yrs. The stays have always being brilliant. But this time I had the single room which was ok but the bathroom was a nightmare. The bathroom was badly conceived, erroneously designed and executed with everything in mind except comfort. On the good side, the hotel personnel as usual very friendly and helpful, cake is always delicious and breakfast is nice way to start the day.... Experience may defer if you get or book a double room.

My only complaint was that I had trouble getting my quilt covering right as I was hot during the night but that is a personal thing. The hotel is currently renovating the upper levels so it will only be better in the future!! Definitely recommend this hotel!

Nice Location but find another hotel nearby!

This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to some very nice museums and restaurants. Plenty of shopping and right off the S train. Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful at check in.

Sadly the rooms are in pretty rough shape and the cleaning staff doesn't do a great job turning them over between guests. I stayed in Room 24 and it had quite a funky smell. The carpets are stained and and trim around the door in the bathroom was starting to decay a bit. Bed was comfortable enough but looking around the room I just didn't have a great feeling about the cleanliness of the bed. In the bathroom and bedroom I found items left behind by the last guest. Mostly trash like receipts and empty styling gel container but still. How comfortable does that make me feel that housekeeping is doing their job well?

In the end I only stayed the one night. The location is very nice but for the price I expected a lot more. I know they are doing renovations so I they may refresh this into a nice hotel but for now I would recommend staying somewhere else. They are charging for the hotel they are building not the hotel they have.

The Hotel is going through renovation, it will be very pleasant once it's finished. The Hotel is hidden from the searching eye... the entrance, an elevator, is tucked inside a shopping passage... just as well we arrived with a taxi,the driver knew to take us without too many explanations...just gave him the name. The staff couldn't be nicer even if tried... helpful and accommodating. Coffee and cake were there for the guests to enjoy at no extra cost. WiFi somewhat problematic in the rooms but strong at the reception area, where upon the breakfast is served too, and very good! All in all... pleasing!

Close to metro station and shopping centre

Hotel Zentrum is located near metro and underground station. It's very near to shopping centre. Actually it's not a problem to walk to Romerburg. We did that. Air conditional is not available but there's fan in the room. Room furniture and carpet a bit old but the washroom is newly renovated. There are afternoon tea and snacks provided here for free. I recommend it to everyone!

Good hotel for a business trip.

I stayed for three nights while attending a trade show.The location was great. It's near the river, shopping area, and a lot of restaurants. There is an S-bahn subway stop right out the front door that takes you to the Messe in about 10 minutes, the main train station in 2 minutes, and the airport in about 30 minutes.

The hotel itself is basic. Rooms are small. But it's very clean. The service was great. The staff was very helpful with every question I had. Wifi and breakfast were included. It's nothing fancy, but had everything you'd need for a short trip, and you can't beat the location.

This hotel was a real disappointment. the carpets were badly worn and stained, there was no hot water for shower. and although the neighborhood appeared OK, at the entrace to the hotel there was a homeless person who slept a few feet from the entrace, which by the way is a lift door tucked behind a storefront. I will never stay in this hotel again.

Good Location, But poor condition.

First the Hotel said they had Air Conditioning, But when I got their, there was none. It was a very Hot and Humid day. All they could do is give me a fan. When I request a rerun to go to another hotel they said no. On top of that the carpet had big stains, the curtains were dirty and mark on the wall. all in all very poor condition.

Great location, but the hotel was in poor conditions.There was stains in the carpet, marks on the wall and the curtains that are suppose to be white are grey. Other safety issue were expose wires in a light socket and a heat lamp light bulb put in a regular socket. And there is NO Air Conditioning even thought it says there is. It was a Very Hot and all they did is gave me a fan. When I told them I wanted to change hotel they refused to refund my money, and Hotels.com rusted to help either.

Perfect for walking everywhere in Frankfurt

The main sites are easily accessible on foot and the river is only a 10 minute stroll.

Great location, Bad noise isolation

The hotel is on a perfect place, just some 50m from the main shopping street Zeil and the Christmas market. Friendly crew in the reception. Good, small buffetbreakfast. The room were not so clean. One pillow was broken, but the cleaning man didn't change it, though we left it on the top of the bed, without pillow case. The cleaning man was smelling so awful of sweat, that the whole floor was smelling and it came in through the closed door. You could also hear every word, that someone was whispering out in the corridor.

Great location & price but ...

You do get what you pay for at this hotel. The staff was great, I mean really really excellent. The hotel is just really thread-worn. I mean EVERYTHING needs to be updated ... except the staff. Again, they really really helpful and nice. The location and surrounding neighborhood were especially good for me, since I was only there on business for 3 days. As it happened though, there is also a lot of construction going on in the area, some of it at night, which might be though for some folks. For my business trip, none of that mattered, just PLEASE won't the owner of this hotel give their staff better facilities in which to work?!?

Great value for my long layover

I had a 24 hour layover in Frankfurt and stayed at the Hotel Zentrum. It was in a perfect location. It was a 5 minute walk to the river and the old town (including St. Barthomew's Cathedral) and the main shopping area is RIGHT outside. It is also very well located for transit to and from the airport, and the metro station is right in front. the metro traces approx 15 minutes to get to and from the airport.

The staff was friendly and they had a full hot breakfast in the morning. I knew going in that there was no air conditioner, which is normally fine. This time, however, it was an exceptionally hot day and I did have trouble sleeping in the heat. The room was nice, but don't expect any fancy shampoo or conditioner. (Definitely plan to use your own!)

Final thing to note: it is LOUD! There was construction across the street that began early on Saturday morning. Since this is a popular area of town, the nightlife was loud until the early hours of the morning. Not a problem if you're a light sleeper, but consider asking for a room that is higher up to avoid the noise tunnel.

Overall, a very pleasant stay. I'm not sure I would stay a week there, but for a quick overnight trip, the convenience and value were well worth it!

This is a basic, I mean basic hotel. If you are planing on sight seeing and shopping during your stay in Frankfurt, then you your in luck. This place is meant for sleeping, which is all I did in it. Train station is a 30 second walk to your right as soon as you leave the hotel. Shops everywhere! Friendly staff.

Not a 4-star hotel... 2 at best

Not a bad hotel... staff was nice and location was terrific and safe... but hotel is not up to the standard one expects from its 4+ star rating. Hallways were dark and dingy, carpet in the room was old and stained, beds were not very comfortable, upgrades in bathrooms were nice but you could see the sloppy workmanship. Again, not a bad hotel, but expect the conditions of a 2-star in a great location.

Hotel Zentrum Frankfurt was a small family run hotel, rooms comfortable but not roomy, free wifi, nice plentiful breakfast with a few hot items. No in-room coffe/tea making, freindly helpful staff. The thing that makes this hotel ideal for a short stay in frankfurt is its location. 2 min walk from hauptwache U bahn/S bahn station, 5 mins from main shopping street, 10 mins walk from Romer church. We stayed for the Christmas market and it was perfect for that.

Not again.

Our stay was disappointing at best. We walked into the room and it smelled like mildew and body odor. The carpets were stained and sticky. Our towels were stained.

Typical Mid-city Hotel

The hotel was okay, but the entrance was in an arcade, ok during the day, not the best at night. Biggest problem was 34 c temperature and no Air. Con. which was promised in the description. We were given a fan, but it really was uncomfortably hot. Staff were ok but not overly helpful. We were only there for two nights so did not bother to try to relocate to another hotel. Would not stay there again.

Not the hotel it is said to be.

The only good thing about this hotel was the friendliness of the front desk staff. NO AC in the rooms, and though it was only in the low 70's ( 19) the room must have been at least 80 degrees! Terrible access to the hotel itself with a super small elevator up to the lobby and rooms. Working on the room next door for some reason - started at 7 a.m. No water for part of one day - and no warning about it. Our safe wouldn't open and they never fixed that. Old stained carpet and shower was awful. Really didn't like this place. Would not stay there again - especially for the price we paid.

Prime location

Very good location, in center, all shops around, easy get to the airport, very good breakfast, good customer service. Rooms - small, no air conditioner, could get very hot in summer.

A terrible hotel, nice location

This is just a terrible hotel.
The only thing which was good is the location. nothing else was not really terrible.
The room is so poor in terms of furniture, bathroom really old fashioned with equipment like in my Grand Pa's home!
When I opened the shower water, it was coming out black!! It smelled terrible.
Even the normal water that we should use to wash our face, it was coming out with some rust in the morning.
The receptionist was not even able to help me with directions! He told me use the internet!

Great location

While this hotel may have been older and definitely not a 4 star, the location more than made up for it. Right in the center of the alt stadt, great shopping, walking to distance to all.

great location, so-so hotel

this hotel has a great location to Alt stadt, the river, and main Frankfurt. It's on a busy street, but our room facing the back was pretty quiet, and parking 2 blocks away in a garage (about 12euros). Room was fairly clean, older hotel, very basic, breakfast was good (the usual fare), and check in guy was very nice, rest of the staff okay. Overall, I would stay here again for the location, unless we want something very nice next time.

Location, Location, Location

In central Frankfurt, near all the main attractions and shopping. Very affordable with clean rooms and halls. Elevator only entrance took some getting used to, but not a problem. Included breakfast was excellent. For the price and location you could not do better.

Too noisy

If windows of your room are facing the square in from of the hotel you might not get a lot of sleep. There was so much noise from drunk people on the street, then we were not be able to fall asleep.

Comfortable stay/Great location

We were pleased with our recent stay. The hotel was clean, stay were great and the included breakfast was pretty decent.

One of the best things about this place is location. It is central to everything - the Romer, restaurants, shopping, the river. It is also just steps outside the train station if you are coming in from the airport. We'd stay again.

If you are coming to Frankfurt, make sure you pick up the Frankfurt Cards from the airport. They give you free fares on the trains and discounts for many restaurants and attractions including river cruises and the Frankfurt Zoo.

Choose this hotel for the location

This hotel is in a great location and the breakfast is decent. The bed was very uncomfortable but the room was clean. Don't expect world class accommodations here but the staff is friendly and the location is great. It is only steps from the S or U Bahn.

Convenient...thats about it

We picked this hotel because of the location, price, and the fact that it included breakfast. The hotel is not fancy, but we knew that going into it. We did however expect it to be clean. We had dirty and wet towels in our bathroom upon arrival. We had to ask twice to get new clean and dry ones. Check in is not at 10:00am. We arrived at 10:30am hoping to put our luggage up and get our plan for the day, but they asked us to come back in 4 hours. Luckily they took our baggage for us, so we didn't have to haul it back to the car. There is no AC in the room, and if you want the windows open and for air to come in, then the blackout curtains have to be pulled open or you will have a sunlit room at 5:30am. Breakfast was fine. Traditional German style with assorted bread, meat, cheese, hardboiled eggs, juice, coffee, etc...

The hotel is in best location in Frankfurt clean very small bathroom all TV channels in German hotel staff are very friendly and helpful,the only drawback the room did not respect my nonsmoking request

The hotel is in a terrible condition.

This hotel was renovated probably in 1980, and was heavily used since then. Everything is very old and in a terrible condition. The location is excellent, but the center of the city is very small, you can walk from one side to another in 10 minutes. You are better off renting a hotel to the right, or left side of Zentrum. It will be 5 minutes away and cheaper.
