A Deeply Disappointing Stay
I recently stayed at the Dan Tel Aviv, and it was a truly disappointing experience from start to finish. This hotel is nowhere near the five-star standard it claims to offer—if anything, it’s a one-star in terms of service and guest care.

First, our room was not ready when we arrived and was extremely dirty. We had to wait about four hours for it to be cleaned, and even then it wasn’t properly cleaned. We were traveling with two kids and specifically chose this hotel for the children’s pool. Every day, the staff said the pool would be fixed “tomorrow,” but it never was. Our kids never got to use it.
To compensate for the room delay, the manager invited us to the hotel restaurant. I was respectful and tipped everyone generously, even giving the manager 100 euros because I didn’t want anything for free. Nevertheless, they still charged us for the wine we ordered, as well as a coffee and a Coke that we believed were included.
We also paid almost $300 for Shabbat dinner for my wife and myself, and once again, they charged us extra for a Coca-Cola and a coffee on top of that, which was never made clear in advance.
To make matters worse, some of our kids’ pool toys disappeared and were never returned. Finally, even at checkout, the staff allowed other guests to cut in front of us, ignoring the fact that we had been waiting first. They simply didn’t care.
In conclusion, the Dan Tel Aviv failed on every level. This is not a luxury experience.

We paid almost 600$ for one night, breakfast not included an extra 60$ per person. Charged for a bucket of ice. No ability to get a late check out. This hotel offers very little to foreigners who travel here. Unsatisfied for what we paid, did not feel like a 5 star hotel

Usually stay at Dan Panorama but cancelled my reservation 2 days before because my flight was cancelled. So needed to book something the day before my departure and needed something that allowed overnight check-in.

Arrived at 4AM with the friendliest check in clerk. The hotel is steeped in class . Service was a strength. I was in a “Deluxe Room” - the cheapest but quite expensive. The room is quite small and a bit dated but very clean and with excellent service.
Pools are amazing.
Breakfast amazing.

The hotel was extremely close to the beach, the indoor pool was great (even in the winter), the parking was easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, but not the best I've had at an Israeli hotel (admittedly high bar). Would stay here again!

Central to the most popular beaches and public transportation, the Dan was a mainstay for us on our two week vacation. With all the food options Tel Aviv has to offer, we still preferred the breakfast buffet at the hotel most every day. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were cleaned well and often. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Great location, nice lobby area, good lobby bar, great breakfast, good gym.

Cons: room could have been cleaner (e.g. there was mould in shower), towels/toiletries not always replenished, concierge service could be better (e.g. I was entitled to a free transfer from the airport to the hotel but after many emails clarifying this, it still appeared as a charge on my bill which then had to be rectified), service at pool bar was terrible, some common areas looking tired.

Overall not the 5* hotel/service I was expecting.

Pros: Location is great, right across the street from the beach. There were lots of restaurants and shops in walkable distance away. We had one of the new Executive rooms which are very nice.

Cons: Service left a lot to be desired. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed. Check in and out took forever and there were several people waiting to ask for simple requests. Also, we returned to our room one evening after a long hot day of tours and there were NO towels in our room. Not a one. We had already turned on the shower before we even realized it. That is simply unacceptable for a beachside hotel. Lastly, the bellman was unwilling to help me (woman) get my luggage down the stairs. He was looking around for someone to help me, so I just did it myself. That would never happen at a tryue high quality(high service) hotel.

Unbelievable Service

This classic hotel is amazing AND it could use some updating. The room I had was quite comfortable. The bathrooms nicely up to date. The room was spacious & the bed wonderful. The breakfast buffet is an OUTSTANDING Israeli buffet. The beach access is very nice.

The staff were ALL friendly & helpful, especially the head concierge, Jonathan G. He arranged escorts for me on arrival & departure through Ben Gurion Airport. The escort service was pricey & worth EVERY PENNY!! Otherwise I doubt I could have survived the airport as a somewhat mobility challenged 60-something traveling alone.

As to the updating I suggest: improve inadequate electric outlets for multiple electronic items, improve signage for a somewhat confusing layout & elevator service, and improve handicapped access.

I will definitely stay here again!!

Old hotel. So expensive and you get nothing for it! Rooms are old and not clean, everything is closed and boring. The pool is the nicest place but the staff are so not nice! Also the cleaning staff are always angry. Parking is expensive, food is so minimal and so expensive! It doesn’t make any sense.
So disappointing.

Overall the hotel feels rather dated, especially the public areas which needs to be modernized if is to compete with other hotels in the area. The bedroom was also rather \"brown\", but I was in a standard room. Bathroom adequate, but again unmodernized, nice quality towels in the room though.The bed was extremely comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and the swimming pool and deck area was well maintained and nice to sit there to relax.

We will not come back there. Dan has been our home away from home i. Israel. At leadt 40 nights spent in Jerusalem or Eat.

The first room was horrible.
Beds uncomfortable. My kids had to sleep with me on my bed. 4 people on a queen size bed.
I asked refund for the first night but they absolutely refused.
Bell man lied to me for 30 min while I am waiting to help me with my laugage. Almost missed my flight.
Will never stay there again and I am expecting Expedia to refund me the first night stay.

A giant roach crawling about my room in the middle of the night is something I’ve never experienced in any other hotel during my life. The hotel manager dismissed my experience and justified the roach with “its hot outside so the roaches are looking for a place to go.” This leads me to believe it may be a common experience to have roaches at The Dan. I would never stay in this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

The hotel was fully booked due to the Eurovision and it seems to me that guests such as Madonna were more important. Twice my room was not serviced until the evening after I called. (note that I was told that I left the \"do not disturb light which was not true). The same happened with my laundry. It was not returned until late in the evening. Even on days that the room was serviced, the staff forgot to put towels in my room. For the amount of money which we paid, we could have stayed at other much better value properties.

The hotel location is great. We had a warm welcome at the reception and was informed that our room was upgrded plus my wife had a birthday surprise waiting for her in it, service all along was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Location was super, getting us by foot almost to every location we desire. We have been to hotels all over the globe but never imagined that one of our top staying experience would be 1 hour drive from home. Thanks for a great weekend

It was a cold night and the air conditioning was cooling, the technician could not fix it and we freeze all night.

Discount 5-star hotel on the beach

the Dan Tel Aviv was not reflective of a 5-star hotel and did not meet our expectations for the Dan Hotels experience. The hotel, once glorious, is in desperate need of renovation and modernisation. the location was perfect, the pool was nice, the dining experience was above average and in line with other 5-star hotels in the area, but the room conditions, and public spaces were reminiscent of the 1980's era (and earlier) and haven't been touched by maintenance for several decades. The hotel shows up to be tired and worn, but the location makes up for part of the lackluster condition and the price is slghtly discounted compared to other \"5-star\" hotels nearby - resulting in an average stay, in spite of the conditions. If Dan Tel Aviv, improved the quality and luxuriousness of the hotel to modern standards - it would be a choice destination. If not, only select when there is a discounted fare on offer.

The staff go out their way to make this a 5 star hotel. Probably more aimed at business users than young families but nonetheless an excellent hotel. I highly recommend paying for a room with a sea view and booking in for Friday night dinner, which was something special.

I was so beyond impressed with the Dan Tel Aviv Hotel. From the incredibly courteous staff, to the free room upgrade, to the complimentary bottle of wine and personalized welcome letter waiting in my room, to the delicious breakfast, to the room's fancy toiletries, to the Pillow Menu (to order a pillow of your liking for the room), to the 24-hour room service... and just so much more.

I would definitely stay here again when I return to Tel Aviv. Thanks for an amazing experience!

The hotel staff was wonderful and attentive. They were very accommodating with my requests and tried to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. The room had a breathtaking view of the sea and was very clean. The toiletries were great and I loved the loofah! Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had! I would stay again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is far from 5 star quality. Overall it needs a lot of modernisation and attention to detail. The facilities in the hotel are ok but again need modernisation. Cleanliness in the rooms and bathrooms also need to improve.
The good thing is the location. Has nearby restaurants and bars and located on the beachfront broadwalk.

Hotel was great. We stayed in Suite 627. Very nice double room Suite, with great views of the beach. Spacious, clean...really a nice room. Hotel Staff was above amazing. Very accommodative and seemed to want to make our stay as great as they possibly could. We got complimentary champagne upon arrival. Great location. Right on the boardwalk and the beach, and in a nice area where there are lots of restaurants, bars and shops right in walking distance. Everything was nice.

We arrived at 8pm and were told that our room is not ready yet. the Check-in time is 2pm. After an unpleasant conversation with a manager, the room was made available by 9:40pm. We stayed there for 12 nights and a few times our room was not cleaned, so we had to call housekeeping to get it done and then go somewhere for half an hour while the staff clean it. The famous breakfast is indeed fantastic, but getting coffee can be a chore. After a few days we got to know the staff and were able to get coffee quickly.

Not the first nor the last time at the Dan Tel Aviv Hotel. It is our favorite hotel in Israel. The staff were accommodating. The food was delicious and plentiful. The room was modern and clean. Because we are e-Dan members we did receive some upgrades, which added to our stay.

The Dan, like many other hotels along the coast in Tel Aviv is an older hotel which has had a partial facelift. The lobby, main bar and some of the rooms facing the street are modern and befitting a hotel of its star rating. However, our room, facing the sea was in dire need of renovation. From a badly marked bath, to a worn carpet, it needs modernisation. Added to that, the batteries in the room safe needed replacing and the door didn't lock properly - and wasn't fixed during our stay, despite mentioning this to the front desk. Repeated attempts would lead to the door magically locking, but it's still concerning. Fantastic breakfast buffet is absolutely worth it and the staff were very helpful in organising tours etc. Superb location.

This hotel is very old and needs a complete update. Although it was very grand in its day it is a bit tired. With new carpets and updated rooms it could be grand again
