Hotel is dirty in the public spaces and in the room. Plus a woman was almost murdered the night we stayed there. Management seemed non plussed about the hellish night everyone in the hotel went through. How they missed a room full of men hanging out on the balcony at 10:30 pm when they closed the lobby that night is negligent. This hotel is not clean and not safe.

My stay was wonderful — and what made it so is first of all the staff. Couldn’t be friendlier and more helpful — first person I met was Or at the front desk, kindness and desire to help was the best! He took time to ask me about my Israel trip and chat. Jeremy, Bushra and Alice were also very kind. The location is excellent near the beach, near the supermarket on Ben Yehuda and coffee shops on Dizengof. The rate per night was great and the hotel decor is lovely. Highly recommend!

Our room was clean and comfortable, the hotel well situated, and close to the beach, but the best part about our stay at the Scarlet hotel was the welcoming, friendly, helpful and excellent staff that greeted us each day that we were there! Our work in Tel Aviv required us to check-in and check-out for three consecutive weekends and each time we returned we were greeted by staff who always made us feel special. Bushra, Alice, Mohamed and Jeremy were terrific hosts and I can recommend the Scarlet hotel to others with 5 stars ! Thank you for making our stay so great ! We will come back again. Shalom. Quirky clean well priced hotel up a flight or two

This is a quirky little hotel with retro 50s decor, which I adore… it’s only about four blocks from the Gorden Beach, which is my favorite beach so I like the location The price is good in the rooms are comfortable.

There are some cons here
all of the rooms are upone to three or four flights of stairs. While there is coffee in the lobby… The lady at the front desk said they never have milk that said, how hard would it be to have milk?… Breakfast is not at the site it’s around the corner, and since I was late for a plane, I just went across the street and brought a cappuccino.

First you get a heavy awful smell of a cheep cleaning product that make you want to puke. Then you find out that the bed is unleavened. One side is low and soft the other is higher and hard..
I decided to say something. The front desk guy had hard time to understand me, luckily there was a vacancy and I got a different room pretty quick.
Then I’ve notice the length of the bed. I’m super short. And I reached the of it. Can’t imagine what other people felt like. Strange enough, when I came to complain about the bed the front desk thought I’m complaining about that. Clearly I’m not the first one to notice..
And the small window in a size of a prison cell.
The bathroom had mold on the caulking.
I can only hope that the towels were actually washed.
Cleaning failed.
Feel like a cheep hotel that people come to hookup

And this my friends, a perfect example on how the joke is on us, the guests. And how those people get Rich. And their kids wear Gucci clothes while we need to settle for bear minimum. Paying hotel prices while getting cheap hostel rooms.

Great find not far from the beach!

Incredibly friendly staff, and very warm welcome!

There are only two things I would note:
- I was unaware there was no elevator at this property. While it was not necessarily a major inconvenience, I was placed on the top floor and had to carry my luggage up 4 flights of stairs to my room.
- The signage outside the property could use some improvements, it is somewhat hidden off the road (especially since the reception is in a separate building from the hotel units.

Overall, I’d highly recommend any solo travelers and families alike, especially for a budget friendly and optimal location in Tel Aviv!! The staff was beyond friendly, and extremely receptive to my needs.

This was a great property when it comes to location. You're a 5 minute walk away from Gordon Beach, 45 minute walk to Jaffa. The property was clean and had everything I needed. My only complaint is the walls are fairly thin so if you have people near you that are up late partying you hear it clearly

Hotel is definitely unic in presentation and furnishings. Not my style and I did expect to have such a small roomwith just one small corner to hang your belongings. No shelves and no space to place luggage. But the staff was so kind to make our stay better tgat they offer a much bigger room with more furniture and more convinient. Breakfast was very good. Service is outstanding.

* I was offered an upgrade from a single room to a double room which was very generous.
* Price was fair.

Overall I had a good experience, but there are a few things that can be improved:
* The hooks in the bathroom were placed very high, I had to climb the toilet in order to hang my towels.
* The bathroom floor definitely wasn't washed before I entered the room, I could see big dark stains on the floor.
* The bathroom didn't include a toothbrush cup (not even a simple plastic or disposable one).

I liked the vibe of the hotel with retro style. Room is nice also. I had 2 not good incidents:
1. On check in the receptionist refused to give me the room for long time as of payment misunderstanding, but the day after the manager apologize for this and upgrade my room as well as breakfast voucher.
2. In another day there were no hot water one morning. They told there was a problem and it will be back after 1.5 hour... I had to leave for a meeting.
Another note: if you offer free donuts and popcorn make sure they fresh and not old.
No complaints for the free beer 🍻

A gem in the heart of Tel Aviv

this was such a pleasant suprise.
The hotel is in a stellar location in the heart of Tel-Aviv. Seconds away from multiple coffee shops, the beach, bakeries, pubs and galleries.
Rooms are ample, clean and in good condition. You won't stay in the room for long periods of time when the city is on your doorstep...
Service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Public city parking can be found one block away for reasonable price. I'll be happy to return to this hotel.

Nice hotel with interesting artsy deco, well located in a small street, only minutes away from Gordon beach.
The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful.
The only minor drawback was a bit of noise from other guests partying in the middle of the night, especially when you have an early flight (wished the door was a bit more soundproof) but that’s Tel Aviv… the room itself is soundproof and nice (except for the door).
Nice touch, they offer free local beers to guests (kept in a fridge in the lobby) ! Just for that thoughtful attention I will be back when I’m in Tel Aviv.

THE BAD
The main lobby attempts a 1950’s retro-look but is, in fact, a shabby warehouse of discarded furnishings. The rear of the ground floor resembles a bombed-out slum, with a long platform on 4 uneven “legs”, called a “table”, where guests can enjoy their coffee, beer or a smoke.

The room decors presume to be “eclectic”; shabby and “neglected” would be more apt descriptions. I sat in the chair of the first room I was placed in, only to have it collapse. The bathroom fixtures were hanging by a thread. The phone was not working and the plug of the nite table lamp was rigged with exposed wiring. My complaint resulted in a move to another room that had a layer of dust on the desk and other horizontal surfaces. The window curtain was only partially hung. I had barely moved into this room only to be told it was, in fact, booked and that I would have to move again. As compensation, I was offered 1 free breakfast at a Brown restaurant, a block away. The third room (again) had bathroom fixtures (such as mirror, toilet paper dispenser) crookedly installed and loosely attached. The sink backsplash and general finishing trims were slapped together, per army-barrack standards.

THE GOOD
The Staff was pleasant, very helpful and as apologetic as possible, given Brown management’s rush to create an income stream at whatever the market could bear, regardless of the poor condition of the property.

I would recommend the staff but not the accommodations. 1 STAR.

This boutique hotel was one of the very best, I have stayed in abroad and the very best in Israel. Although, they have no cafe facilities themselves, you get first-class breakfasts at nearby tip-top cafes. The young staff, all of them are exceptionally friendly and helpful and all speak very good English. My room was modern and comfortable and the surroundings delightfully quirky. Location is great in central Tel-Aviv.
Small, pleasant and enjoyable, although for people with walking issues; there is no lift. Personally I award Dave Gordon- Son of A Brown FIVE STARS- Highly Recommended. Melvyn Morley

I was very positively surprised with Dave Gordon during my last trip to Tel Aviv. They gave me a free upgrade since the room I booked was subject to an unexpected repair. Room was ample, clean with a comfortable bed and new and clean bedding. Excellent bathroom with ample and clean shower area. New towels and excellent local shower products from a local Israeli supplier. Everything about Dave Gordon was right. The best was definitively its excellent location from where you can get the very best of the city. By the way they also have the best staff ever!

The hotel is tastefully decorated with an eclectic feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well presented. Only down side was I wasn’t able to operate the smaller shower head, only the one above. Perhaps this was my fault. I would happily return in the future.

The pro's: great neighborhood, amazing staff, free coffee in the morning, open-air window and roof/courtyard was a nice amenity, good wifi - all great for the price. Con's: Bed was not comfortable for a multi-night stay. Could hear every little sound outside my room, so make sure you are ready to wear earplugs each night. Could hear housekeeping knocking on every door starting at 7:30 each morning, mine by 9:30am. Bathroom only contained strongly perfumed mens bath products only (not unisex), and no lotion.

Wonderful hotel, clean rooms with a hip and funky vibe. Highly suggest for both business travelers and vacationers. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to a great restaurant and bar district. Its 15 minute cab ride at rush hour to the high rise business district.

THIS HOTEL IS NOT ACCESSIBLE - THERE IS NO ELEVATOR AND NO RAMP TO LOBBY DESK.

I am a huge fan of the Brown hotel group in Tel Aviv and have been choosing their hotels for five years or so. This has so many of the things that make Brown hotels great - local cafes for breakfast, great design, the signature bookshelf in the lobby and friendly staff. However - the lack of an elevator was a huge problem for me. I arrived late in the day and the only rooms left were on the 3rd and 4th floor. My luggage was heavy with gifts for friends and I would not have chosen a hotel without an elevator if I knew.

The room is great - excellent shower, strong wifi, good AC. Hotel is in a very central location - close to beach, shopping and nightlife. But if you have any mobility issues - choose the Brown TLV or Lighthouse.

Thought it was going to be different

With a lot of good comments and even people who said that overall was going to be a good experience, ended with a bitter taste after all. I will start with the posit ve things first:
Started with an amazing check in (I guess that she was either the supervisor or manager) her way to approach and her service was flawless but everything changed this morning.
The housekeeper started at 08:30 am to open doors and closets like she was at her place, dunno if she was mad or what, but if you put the sign “please do not disturbe” at least open counters or doors a little bit more quite around that room.
Thought that making a reservation with breakfast included was going to be a good idea, but completely the opposite. I don’t care if they are receiving a service from coffee places around the corner but the service should be at least the same as the one that I receive at the hotel. 25 minutes waiting for someone taking my order and it was more important for them to be staring at their phones.
Maybe the hotel under the service of Alex can be recommended but the breakfast package that they offer isn’t suitable for business people.
I didn’t even receive the offer to have a reimbursement of the breakfast that I didn’t have, and that should be at least the service that everyone deserves.

A charming and funky small hotel very near the beach. It's in a renovated Bauhaus building, but it doesn't have an elevator and the lobby has a separate entrance from the rooms. The room was small but comfortable, with the caveat that there's very little storage space. There were only half a dozen hangers on the rod (although they offered me more when I said something) but there is no dresser or cabinet for clothes, only three very trendy and completely ridiculous little metal \"lockers.\" Very nice bathroom with \"rain forest\" shower head. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend to younger friends looking for something cool. The only truly negative part of my experience was on check-out when I asked for help carrying a large heavy suitcase downstairs and was told there was only one staff member on duty and I had to do it myself.

Bad no elevator and no window blinds

Awful if u like sunshine in your room at 530 am !!

Noisy and also no receptionist that answer the phone.

No elevator !!!! Not good for families or kids just a bad hotel not sure why anyone would rate this higher then 2

Great hotel. Staying here for the second time already. Has a lot of character, amazing location and great service. Love the unique approach to breakfast.

I liked it

I thought it was great. I loved the brightly colored room. A few cautions though. The shuttle service to the airport is really the hotel staff calling a taxi that will cost you 160 NIS (about $45 USD).

The complimentary breakfast is a choice of two cafes, one of which I never found and the other was about a quarter mile walk. It was a quiet and pleasant walk and I enjoyed it. The breakfast was good too. I went to the Bite. Be sure to ask for the Dave Hotel menu though.

The front of the hotel may be a bit off-putting to families and there is a tattoo parlor in the hotel lobby.

It is a very interesting neighborhood to stroll in and I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay.

Requires a very specific taste

This could be a great place if you happen to match the very specific style of it, unfortunately- it wasn't mine :-(
Plus: most of the staff is very nice, you can see the place was recently renovated and everything is relatively new. The location is great.
Minus: very thin walls- felt like I spent the night with the next door couple and everyone in the corridor.
3 floors, no elevator (and staff at check in didn't offer to help with the luggage).
Breakfast is not at the hotel- you get a coupon for a cafe nearby, but you have to wait in line there- I waited 20 minute until I got a table.
Specific to the room I got: the air condition- which is a necessity in Israel- was very week.
Also, the bath was in the room itself, so every time you took a shower you ended getting half the bed and the floor wet.
In general the design requires a very specific taste. felt a bit like something out of blade runner (the original one), great if you're into it, I wasn't- I got a room with a round bed, and full of mirrors everywhere and low lights, felt a bit strange.
Summary- It's not bad-I wouldn't use it again, but if you're into something different- then you might enjoy it.

Great base for operations.

Centrally located, cool neighborhood, good staff, and comfortable room and bathroom. Internet was great, although the fact that it's open as opposed to at least WPA with a password concerned me.

Stay here!!!

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable & quiet rooms, and a cool hotel! Stay here. The only downside is no elevator, but trust this hotel is so nice it is worth climbing some stairs. I stayed at a similar priced hotel in Tel Aviv right before my stay here. It had an elevator, but everything else was awful! The pictures of this place don't do it justice. It is very close to beautiful beaches! :)
