Do not believe the pictures this hotel is falling apart. I have pictures to prove how the gym looks totally different and there is no sauna for guests. Just be wary of them lying over the phone and everything is outdated.

PLEASE improve! It’s a shame that we had a terrible experience at the hotel. We were greeted by a very unpleasant staff, the rooms are so outdated and have unpleasant smell all over the hotel hallways. Breakfast was great but place was overcrowded. Very disappointed. Wonderful customer service
Front desk people were so friendly and accommodating
They gave me a free upgraded room and when I told them I was there to volunteer to treat soldiers with trauma, they gave me a free dinner! And when I had a minor problem with the room (no heat, stick door to the balcony), engineering was there in 5 minutes. Everyone was SO nice, which was surprising since they were all Israelis!

This is not a 5 star hotel

We booked this trip with very high expectations. We hardly go away as a couple so wanted a place where we would feel pampered so we picked this place as we saw it has amenities like a spa and sauna.. after paying an exorbitant amount of money for a 5 star hotel we were highly disappointed. Rooms totally outdated, peeling and unkept. Broken doors, cracked walls. Spa is closed (not indicated anywhere on the site) ripped beds and curtains. This is not a 5 star location and not what I paid for. Food is good but had to pay extra for breakfast, dinner we got as compensation.

The staff at this hotel is amazing! We were guests while TelAviv was being shelled!! They made sure we were in safe shelter and did a great job of staying calm. The hotel and all the staff were absolutely amazing. Professional, helpful, organized, and outpouring of compassion.

Someone had a key that opened my room. The management fixed it, but it reduced my sense of safety.

This is not a 4 star hotel! Furniture is old. Elevator feels claustrophobic since it is so small.

First time to visit Israel

Nice location on the Tel Aviv Promenade with easy access to the beach. Good buffet breakfast. Pool decent but small and crowded. Location ideal for walking downtown to shop or eat.

The hotel needs renovation. It has a perfect location on the beach but could look much nicer. The staff is friendly. What I am upset is that after paying in full and I left the hotel, they charged me more money on my credit card which they later said it was mistake and I am still waiting for refund!

This place is an old hotel and sure it’s required a touch to refresh/renovate the rooms, balconies and bathrooms. I would say the most renovations need to the balconies. Still it has its own charm and once you feel it you’ll fall in love with this place. The bed and pillows were amazing, it was the most comfortable sleep. I really enjoyed breakfasts, and once I’ve tired supper - I was a happy camper. Pool and gym a really deserve to be checked. Promenade in a minute proximity. Restaurants are in a walking distance. Depends on your pace, it’s 45-50 minute of pleasant stroll to Jaffa port to the left and 20-25 minutes to Tel Aviv port. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Will stay there again!

We checked in, to find the roon smelled, was dirty and the toilet was clogged, and there was no air conditioning We contacted the front desk and they said they would send someone up. We waited and called repeatedly for four hours before finally leaving/cancelling.

The property is old and it shows. The wrong was slowly falling apart even for being an upgraded one. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in most of the room and was extremely slow when trying to call family. I would recommend going to somewhere else down the street

Upon arrival the lobby looks very nice and inviting. Then you go upstairs to your room and it's a \"bait and switch\".
Things are outdated. The balcony door to my room was broken, it was VERY obvious and nobody made an effort to fix it. The carpets are not clean in the hallways.

If you are looking for a comfortable, mid-range hotel, with easy access to the beach and surrounds, this is ideal. It has an old school feel which suits that generation well, but would be good for budgeting families as well. It is faded in parts; but the staff are good.

Very old hotel, I couldn’t lock the balcony door and wind was noisy I had to change room.
When I checked out I found out the price I got in Expedia wasn’t the final and the hotel charge me separately extra $55 for taxes and email me receipt separately which was wired for me because I meant the deal with Expedia and not with the hotel directly.

The property is beautiful and is situated right on the beach in tel Aviv. The breakfast was gourmet amd divine and the service was amazing! I parked on site which was supposed to cost but the hotel gave it to me complimentary upon checkout. All my needs were met. The hotel management really care for their clients. I will definitely be back!

No one mentioned that the hotel under renovation was a noise of works and full of dust. The rooms were not clean hairs in the sink of other guests was shocking, the window is not soundproofed did not sleep all night from the noise outside and in addition guests who turned on a loud speaker from the balcony we could not sleep at all .. vacation was not and rest!

A waste of your money

No parking, under construction so they made a terrible noise from 9 to 17. Of xourse front deak did not mention it in the check in. Tried to call front deak for several times for minutes and minutes.no one bother to answer. MINI BAR empty. Terrible service. SPA charged my cc for reservation, then called to say there is not appointments available, and thaf I will get my money back in two weeks. Will not come back. Nor to the spa.

We had reserved and paid for a deluxe room with two beds and a full sized pull out sofa. The room we were given had two twin beds and no sofa. The hotel staff said it was Expedia's fault and there was nothing the hotel could do about it and they had no other rooms.

In addition to us paying top dollar for a room we did not get, we asked for an extra blanket that was never brought to us. There was only 1 towel in the room - we asked for more but they were never delivered.

The staff was rude, unhelpful and really didn't care if we were happy or not.

We have stayed wat Herods many times but never again!

Very nice staff, great location, love the pool but it closes early (6pm) and so does the access to the beach.

Room needs to be renovated but overall ok ad great view. Elevators are slow and busy.
Breakfast is really good (although inconsistent- some days had more selection and free bubbles and some did not, and had long lines).

I will stay again.

BEWARE!!! Read carefully before booking this place

I hope I can capture everything with 1500 ch.
I checked in to the hotel at around 9pm. Check in clerk OBNOXIOUS from the get go I was able to tell that they wanted more money for my stay. So it started with “are you an Israeli citizen” and unfortunately I did not have the blue slip they give you at the airport. 17% added. Next: I see you have someone with you the room is only for one person it’s more money for an additional guest. I show her that the when making the reservation even if you put 2 people the price is the same. She calls the manager and of course that doesn’t matter. I asked for a parking spot as it shows as part of the hotel accommodations. Sorry there are no more parking spots you will have to figure out parking on your own I asked if it is ok to leave by the hotel entrance so I can take my stuff up and settle in to my room. I asked for non smoking room the room and entire floor reeked of smoke. I went back down downstairs to complain about the smoke I noticed my car was gone!! With such a pleasant face I was told my car was towed and that it would cost 475 shek plus 250 to have it released. I went back upstairs to try and pinch myself to understand if this is really happening. To top it off I figured I’d go to sleep and deal with the car in the morning I turned on the AC and hot air was coming out I called the front desk they said there might be a technical issue and that they would send someone to have a look. No one came!! Shower head did not work as well

If you have a stroller you don't have access to the board walk and the beach from the hotel directly ... You need to go out and do a small circle ..
Parking space is small so everyone park in the nearby parking but again no direct excess with a stroller so or 10 min circle or up on the stairs and not by a few steps ... This place need to have better exits for wheel chairs and strollers!. Other then that my stay was beautiful !!!!!

The location is great if you're looking for a beach holiday, however, the hotel itself is rundown and in dire need of refurbishment. There are cracks in the walls, broken tiles, exposed bits of piping and electrical work and the hallways and elevators are dingy at best. I wanted to cry when I first checked into my room, but the lovely breakfast buffet and the proximity to the beach *marginally* made up for a 3-star room at best.

The rooms are a bit rundown and could use some updating. The elevators were very slow and almost always full, meaning I had to wait for a long time or take the stairs. I could have gotten over that if there had been good service. The staff working at the front desk and in the bar always seemed annoyed when “helping” me. I don’t think I saw them smile or offer a greeting once. When I went into the spa I was even acknowledged for several minutes while the two staff members were busy looking at their computer - didn’t even look up to say they would help me in a minute. I eventually left without speaking to anyone. I would pay a little extra to stay somewhere nicer, or be sure to ask for a room on a low floor!

This was my first time in Israel. First, the hotel is well known. So when you are in a taxi or asking directions, most everyone knew exactly what we were talking about when we said Harods. The hotel is very modern. The lobby area was also cool with AC, which is amazing when it’s 98 and humid. All of the staff we dealt with were always smiling and willing to help us with questions. The room was great too. My worry is always the bed and the pillows. The beds were very good quality, they didn’t creek or have bad springs. They were very soft. The pillows were perfect too. I’ve been to some places around the world where it felt like I was laying on cement with a phone book for a pillow. Heroes was amazing. My only issue was with the restaurant. We had breakfast included with our room. That is highly recommended! It is sooo good! A few nights though we were so tired from touring that we wanted to just eat at the hotel and go to bed. For the dinner since it wasn’t included in our room, it was 280 NIS per person. That’s about $70 USD. That’s insane! The breakfast selection was massive though. They had the usual, fruits, cereal, cheeses. They also had scrambled eggs, a chef making omelettes to order. They had pastas, pizzas, a selection of hummus, pastries. It was so good!

Although the hotel lobby is in excellent condition, the rooms have seen better days. For $225 USD a night, I expected more than just a good location. Mold in the bathroom and the shower was poorly constructed (water would get everywhere when you took a shower). In retrospect, I should have stayed across the street at the Leonardo Art for $70 USD less (same ownership). Pretty much the same hotels, minus the ocean view. WIFI was terrible. However, the breakfast was good and the staff provided excellent customer service.

After I booked I read a number of bad reviews and panicked a bit. As soon as I arrived I realised the bad reviews were completely unfair.
The staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast was amazing.
The rooms were clean and well maintained. The pool area isn't well laid out but a clean outdoor poor that's a stone throw from the beach was gold for young kids.

Just came off a very disappointing weekend at Herod's. As others have noted, the rooms are in terrible shape, especially on the lower floors. The pool area is way too small for the number of guests that the hotel holds so finding chairs is almost impossible if the hotel is full. While some staff members were very nice, the hotel is very poorly run and communication between staff is terrible. We had to argue that breakfast was included in our reservation and after a half hour argument, we gave up and paid. At checkout they realized that we were right and refunded it. They also messed up our dinner reservation at the hotel. Finally, after paying through Hotels.com, they tried to charge us again for the room until someone more senior at checkout (after 15 minute argument) came around and saw that we were right. It is not just the facilities that need an upgrade. It is management.....

Herods is close to the beach BUT

Yes the location is great, all hotels on the Hayarkon block are prime locations. However, specifically Herods, at the compromise of cleanliness. Our bathroom smelled and the hotel as a whole was not clean. We stayed there 10 nights and regretted it right away. As it's pricey, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure you can find something better for the same cost.

we got the room that was just painted, called front desk, spoke to Saeed and he promissed to do it, and juat simply ignored it. checked in at 8pm, later at night when we came back from the event, spoke to Sandra, have lady, who really wanted to help us, but we didn't want to pack at midnight and change the room. asked for a later check out, was told should not be an issue and we should come in the morning to ask for this exception. When we came, this guy Saeed again gave us an attitude. note to the management, this guy will help you loose more of your future customers. I also own a big company and my receptionist is the face of my company.

The hotel smelled. The pool water smelled like sulfur. I couldn't stay in it as it's a trigger for my asthma. Every day we asked for an extra bar of soap. One for the showe and a separate one for the sink. We never received one. The breakfast was horrible inedible the coffee was lousy. And it cost a fortune. When we left the restaurant our first morning of eating there I told the seating staff how terrible it was. It actually made my husband and I ill for hours. When we went back to the hotel later that day after walking around the city we told a desk person how disappointed we were in the breakfast and she appologized and told us to go eat in the business lounge instead , which we never did, but was gracious now it's time to check out and they charged us 60.09 for the breakfast. I was furious and told them I complained how terrible it was to two separate people and they told me I should have asked for a refund. In the states if you complain about food , the owners or wait staff bend over backwards to make things right. They offer, in the states to fix the issue. Here at heroes they said it was my fault for not asking for a refund. Trrribke business. I would never return

Making the best of what the facility offers

On the whole we had a nice stay...the staff is exceptional but the elevator situation during peak usage times is horrible. For some reason there was insufficient lighting in the living area of our suite, but the value was good overall.

Hotel with the worst smell in the world.

I don't know what happened but there was a big sewage leak and all I smelt was sewage the whole stay. It was awful, I couldn't keep my windows open or even think about getting to the pool. It was actually the worst smell, I checked out and moved to another hotel.

More affordable beach hotel than most

This is an old favourite of my family's but is perhaps not quite as good as it used to be. Location is fine - though the big square to the north is becoming seedy and urgently needs a makeover. Staff are generally very helpful and efficient. Friday night dinner is superb (though pricey) and the breakfast is good. Our rooms were obviously getting tired and equipped with disappointing quality furniture though we had no complaints about cleanliness. Overall impression - good location, nice staff, excellent food, but the whole place could do with refurbishment and freshening up. That will take a substantial injection of funds by the owners. I would love to be more enthusiastic and we may well stay here again but will be observing this hotel's progress with some anxiety.
