Nice hotel. Location is a bit far from old town (industrial area). No Uber in Genova, so taxis are a hit or miss, they can charge you whatever they want, you never know what you are going to pay.

Expedia charged me for breakfast (I paid for it) but it doesn't show up on the reservation. A weird glitch, but still not right. Be aware.

The room was fairly small for a family stay but it was very clean. The refrigerator was not working properly but not a big deal for us. I enjoyed the breakfast. We were a bit disappointed with the view of the water, which was negatively impacted by the cruise ship terminal and port.

Superior rooms should have been recently refurbished but our appeared already dated, poorly maintaned, dirty and with a terrible smell coming from the drains everytime that water was flushed in other rooms (and you could hear the noise from the pipes!).
The staff at reception has been very welcoming and helpful.
The parking area at levels -1 to -4 should be controlled; cars are often parked without any respect for others, very unsafe. A leakage of fluids from few rotten pipes on the ceiling of level -1 has damaged the painting of our car; we informed the reception and we were offered free parking; since then, a notice has appeared on the wall to inform the customers that parking is forbidden in the area due to leakages and the hotel won’t take responsibility.
Prices are too high for the quality offered.

Picked as a stop off route on our way further south. I’d pick somewhere else next time. Handy spot for the port but not much else. The car park was tight and the electric charging point was iced by big SUVs. It felt unsafe in the local area. It is some distance away from the old town and nicer places to eat.

The hotel is super old. Rooms (especially carpets) are dirty. Bathroon is just terrible.The price and quality doesn't match at all. It is defenitely not 4 stars hotel. To get in the restaurant for the brekfast you have to wait 30 minutes in a queue. To get coffee at the breakfast - 15 minutes in the line.

Expensive hotel for the service, location. The location of the hotel not too pleasant, far from city amenities apart from the port.
If one wants to get closer to the sea, shall book a hotel on the opposite side of Genoa.
The hotels’ pool was really small and there were alowed only 6 people swimming and little bit more for sunbathing.
The pool was open just 8 hours a day from 12 to 8.. Not convenient. Also the prices of products in the minibar were not shown anywhere.

Great hotel, great value. Parking was in an underground garage and was 8 euros for the night. The rooms were very quiet and the WiFi was strong enough to have a quick video chat. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. I would highly recommend.

We felt looked after

In covid times most services weren’t available. Breakfast (complimentary room service) is a tray airline-style with pre-confectioned items like wrapped biscuits, toasties, Tetra-pak juice, fruit salad, single mmmmm mono-portion jams and spreadable cheese, fresh croissants and pancakes. Not too bad. However, there is no bar service, and kettles and cothe machines have been removed from all bedroom. The restaurant only offers one choice per course per night (3-course meal). The pool is closed. The kids games have been removed. Despite all these restrictions it still felt like home to us. The room is good and cosy, and you still get a decent shower! Remember to ask Reception for your double-wrapped individual soaps and shampoos though, as they have been taken out of the rooms too.
I know it is difficult times but most of the staff are so nice and generous that they will do anything they can to make your stay as smooth and comfortable as possible. We were staying with two young children and we stroll felt looked after. Thank you.

This was a last-minute overnight stop between a long run from Monaco to Elba Island so we didn't really expect / wish for much. Parking was fine, staff we friendly and helpful. I took my daughter for some breakfast before departing & although fine, it was quite crowded and I didn't like the way some of the families were treating the staff (who were managing well given the quantity of people wishing to eat). Room was pretty average and outdated. Underground parking was OK albeit very tight. There were multiple underground levels for the car parking but that wasn't super-clear at arrival.

The welcome was mainly unpleasant. As I asked about how safe was in order to park the car outdoors, he replied to me in rude manners highlighting unpolitely that if I wanted my car safe I had to pay the parking 15 euros a night or so. The bathtub was clogged, and they still have courtains which make your shower anything but pleasant. Breakfast with artificial juices. Not nice.

We stayed in the Novotel Genova City for a total of six nights and were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is older but in excellent condition, and the rooms are exceptionally large (25m squared). The paid parking underground always had places available, and was easy to negotiate even with a larger car. We opted for the paid breakfast which was good although, if busy, platters were not always replenished quickly enough. The same for table clearance. The hotel offers an excellent evening buffet at a reasonable cost. The only negative is that the hotel is not within walking distance of the Old Port and Old Town. Driving to that area is not advisable due to pedestrian only zones and the difficulty of parking. There is a bus stop about a 10 minute walk from the hotel with service to that area. The Metro (subway) is a 20 to 30 minute walk. There are no restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.

Whenever I stay at the Novotel Genova City I feel I am at home. I have been staying there many times over the last four years. The staff is kind and generally try to help as much as they can. However, the hotel isn’t up to standard with other Novotel hotels in Europe. The building is in need of refurbishment, the lifts are unreliable and the hotel needs to get the ant invasion on floors 8 and 9 sorted once for all. Maintenance of the property is what really should improve, as well as the cleanliness of the carpets, particularly under the sofa beds and double beds (the double beds are very comfortable, though). Other than that, it is in a strategic position, breakfast is ample and the hotel offers a breakfast room service for free. Buffets are often available for lunch and dinner too, and the hotel has a secure underground garage for cars and motorbikes. We will be back, hoping to see a little TLC being put in those “superior” rooms that so need it! Great staff though, no complaint.

The staff was good they tried to help solving any problem and they gave good recommendations for site to visit and restaurants in the city.
The room was good with good view but the sofa bed was not comfortable at all and they had to put extra mattress to avoid iron springs going through our back.
The breakfast was acceptable but not to the standard of other Novotel

Had to book accommodation when our Air BNB cancelled four days before we left for Genoa.
Needed car park and outside space/pool for 6 nights in city and was all we could find.
Hotel itself is perfectly fine. Friendly staff, particularly in the bar.
Issue is location.
One side you are looking at a concrete reinforced cliff with tower blocks on top, the other side a major freight dock. Not pretty.
A good 10-15 min walk to metro (up a big hill on way back)
Ok for a couple of nights. Any longer, think again!

Didn't meet our expectations

There was some good and some bad but overall it didn't meet our expectations. The good: main bed was comfortable, wifi was good, room was clean and location was ok (20 min walk to downtown). The bad: room too hot at night, water in the shower too cold, pool was closed even thought it was advertised to be open, and hide a bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Comfortable hotel close to the action in Genova

Surprised by negative reviews as I found the hotel to be what one expects fro. Novotel: clean and comfortable with highly professional and responsive staff. It is a reasonable walk or short can ride away from the old port, but much less expensive. Great for family; excellent breakfast buffet included in the price of my room.

OK for combined business trip and holiday

This hotel is well located but is significantly understaffed for the number of guests arriving and leaving. On too many occasions we were kept waiting for considerable time, the lifts were insufficient for the number of guests and the car park was cramped.

On the plus side the room was fine and well looked after by the attentive housekeeping team and, in spite of the number of people staying, quiet and relaxing.

It was a great hotel, great value, a nice 2.5km walk to the centre of Genoa. Not far off of the motorway, so easy to get off & get back on. We had a family room with a king bed & sofa bed for the kids, but then got a travel bed for our little one with no issues.

This is our second stay at Novotel Genova Ovest. The reception staff were lovely, unlike the housekeeping staff who woke us up to retrieve bathroom plugs (!!) and kettles to 'disinfect' at 9 in the morning. Not ideal when you are jet-lagged!
The rooms have coffee and tea making facilities but they were not restocked in the morning.
On our departure day our in-room breakfast was delivered 45 minutes late despite soliciting the restaurant. This was far from ideal, as we had a flight to catch.
The beds and pillows are the most uncomfortable I have ever found in any 3-4 star hotel, sadly.
Breakfast in the restaurant is very good though, with plenty of fresh fruit and alternatives for non-meat eaters.
The hotel staff is very child friendly and the restaurant food is good, albeit a little expensive for what it is.

For a city break, decent location with lots of bus routes. June, but neither pool nor terrace were open. Disappointing as it was a prime reason to book. Jaded decor and facilities. Breakfast poor. Only saw fresh fruit once, hot food tepid in a \"warming\" container never switched on. Smiley staff but hotel not up to muster.
