It’s always a pleasure staying at Sakura Hotel Hatagaya. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the free breakfast is always yummy, the location is perfect and the rooms are great. Always my go to when visiting Tokyo.

The staff was very kind and the hotel had an adorable tradition of gathering recipes from their guests. The location is close enough to all of Tokyo without being too close! The rooms are small by western standards, but if your getting a hotel in Tokyo hopefully you already knew that.

The hotel itself is a 2 start hotel. Small but clean. The reason I would recommend this Hotel is Naoki who greeted up and checked us in. He was so nice and helpful during our 4 night stay. He made us feel at home. Also, the location is superb. Just two short stops from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku Station. Around the hotel at Hatagaya Station are convenience Stores, and reasonably prices restaurants.

My favorite stay thought my trip. The beds were uncomfortable but I figured they would be as I booked a traditional style room with mats on the floor. Otherwise, the staff was just wonderful, there was laundry by the office and everything you needed in that room! Everything is so close by including the station, and if you book here, be sure to try the bakery with the black label on the corner and the soy ramen across the main road hiding up the stairs (also sells tacos). I do not remember their names but I can guarantee they are the best! The ramen was the best ramen I had throughout my whole trip. I cannot rave enough about the staff and stay at this hotel! Book it, you will not be disappointed!

Staff was very friendly, room size is about what you except but you won’t be staying in your room for that long anyways. I recommend if you’re planning to explore Shinjuku/Shibuya area, there’s a train station just around the corner and it’s only 2 stops from Shinjuku station.

This was definitely the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Tokyo. It was very affordable, convenient and walkable from major stations. In a location that makes it easy to get around anywhere you want! The breakfast was delicious every morning, and the view from the window was very nice. The staff were very accommodating and kind, and I will definitely return to this hotel. I loved the area it was in and my overall experience here was wonderful. Thank you Sakura Hotel!!

Sakura Hotel Hatagaya was a convenient place, close to many stores, restaurants, and transport links. On top of exploring the nice local area, I could walk to major areas like Shibuya. The staff was very friendly and helpful (such as with my luggage transportation) and the property had everything I needed. I can confidently give Sakura Hotel 5 stars, and would stay again.

The drains in the bathroom needed cleaned and they smelled terribly. It made the entire room smell. The walls were very thin so I could hear the gentleman in the next room snoring all night. Additionally, you could not lower the temp of the room below 20 degrees Celsius so it was really warm.

The staff, on the other hand, were so warm and welcoming!!!! They were the best part of the stay!!!!

The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
The restaurant / bar has an eclectic selection of international dishes and beers, as well as local options. If you don't fancy eating in, there are half a dozen restaurants less than a 2 minute walk away. There's a post office next door and a kombini / convenience store on the corner. They even have a currency exchange machine offering a competitive exchange rate.
It's very well located only 2 stops from Shinjuku station, with trains every few minutes.
The rooms are tiny, however that means they are nicely chilled after only a couple of minutes of switching on the air conditioning.
The mattresses are very firm, and the toilet paper is so thin you can see through it.

Dislikes: The room is too tight for a family of 3 with luggages. Bathroom is soo tiny too with not enough space to put your personal toiletries. Tiny garbage too in the bathroom hence the bathroom ended up being too messy.

They helped us communicate with local businesses for reservations due to language barriers and also provided us with some great dining recommendations. The area was so quiet and chill. A perfect place to stay to escape a little bit of the noise in Tokyo and feel embraced by a local, authentic energy.

Really nice hotel for the price, the manager is really nice man who made us feel very welcome & resolved a problem we had with our room instantly.
The rooms are generally small but we didn’t spend much time there. There is the Hatagaya station literally round the corner from the hotel & easy links to the main parts of Tokyo. A lovely bakery on the main rd where we picked up bakery items for lunch, hotel has a laundry area which was handy. I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is situated in a nice and quiet area only 2 train stops from Shinjuku station.
The staff is very friendly.
There is a free breakfast and they provide shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the room.
We found a very nice walk near by , it has a lot of cherry blossoms.

The room was very small , it was tricky with 2 large suitcases and ceilings are very low.
It is a bit old but very clean and only 2 plugs in the room.
There is a warning when showering as the steam can trigger fire alarm.

Small hotel with everything that you need. Stayed April 3-5 with my 3 sisters. The bunk beds were comfy, clean sheets and towels. I love that they provide you with robes, slippers, in addition to all toiletries and you have a small fridge, coffee pot, microwave, etc. there’s a mini mart a few steps outside. The breakfast, although it’s just tea/coffee and bread with soup of the day, it’s sufficient to get you started. The staff though very little English are super nice and helpful. Everything was clean and proper. I would stay again.

We stayed at Sakura Hotel because it was close to Shimokotizawa (vintage shopping). It was a quiet neighbourhood, not too far from the station. Easy to find. Please note that the breakfast that is included is just bread/toast and soup. Didn’t mind considering the price of our stay. Simple hotel. Small rooms, similar to every other Tokyo hotel. Everything you need while you explore the city.

Our stay at this hotel was okay however we found it to be very dirty, the carpet was stained, the curtains were stained and it looked like it had not been cleaned. The bed was really hard when asking the night staff for an extra pillow they refused; the guy who was working on March/23/2025 was rude and not welcoming, he had little to no customer service skills. As well, it's on a separate line that you have to pay extra to get into the central part of the city. Not worth it- book a different hotel.

excellent place to stay. the room I stayed in was a little dated but clean. same as many others who travel to Japan, my friends an I spent very little time in the room anyway. the location was excellent. very short walk to the station and just a few minutes to major stations which is clutch when your trying to get back late night after walking 18 miles in a single day. there's breakfast downstairs and several great alternatives nearby. would stay there again.

Loved the place. Great location, quiet, very friendly and efficient staff, and a cute little cafe downstairs that had good food. The breakfast was just juice, milk, bread, and tea, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Our room was quite small but very comfortable (downright cozy) and had a brand new shower with nice hot water coming out of it.

They were incredibly accommodating when we requested an extra hour before check-out. The accommodation itself was fantastic - spotlessly clean, and we especially loved the Japanese-style rooms. Its location is excellent, with restaurants, konbini’s, and the train station just a short walk away, yet it remains peaceful as it’s tucked away from the main street. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return!
