Room was very nice. The heating cooling unit was not turned on so it was a little stuffy when we opened up the door. My concern is I did the online check-in told them the time we were going to be there. We arrived 15 minutes after the time I told them, so you would think that with all this technology and wanting to know when we were going to check in that they would go to the room and get the ambient temperature set up for you to enjoy the comfort of the room and yet that was not done so little disappointed about that but our room location was perfect for our dogs to go outside to walk them. It was right next to an exit door and the room itself was very clean. Bathroom was nice. Everything else was nice.

The pool was freezing. I was having a bday party for my 6 year old we had family surprise us and show up to visit and the guy at the desk said that my visitors had to leave in 15 minutes or I would have to leave. They were going to just go ahead and stay there also but not after that I checked out a day early. The pool was freezing the kids couldn't even stand it.

We stayed in a hot tub room and it was by far the best hot tub/whirlpool private room I have ever stayed in. The heart shaped tub was huge and the Jets had a lot of pressure. Only downfall was it took forever to fill up and it blew cold air from the Jets, which cooled the hot tub faster, but we will definitely stay in again. They need to also vent the whirlpool rooms because there is mold growing above it on the ceiling and all the floors get slick in the room from the condensation. The free breakfast at the restaurant was awesome and the service was great. All employees were very kind. Beds were comfortable. I really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend it.

Our room was clean, hotel was quiet, staff was extremely friendly & accommodating. The diner on site had great service & the food was delicious!
We did have to switch rooms on our last night due to a major leak in the ceiling, but were reimbursed for our trouble. Would definitely stay here again!

5 stars to the room. We stayed in the room with 3 queen beds. Loved that they didn’t have carpet flooring. Very nicely remodeled. 1 star to the hot water situation. We didn’t get to swim in the pool since it didn’t open until 10am which was a big bummer for my kids. It looked nice. The workout room was good with decent cardio equipment but one of the treadmills did not work and it took me rebooting the other one to make that one work. They are doing well with the updates so hopefully they continue to update! Loved that it was connected to the Ankeny Diner and that we got $5 off per person to eat there. Staff was very responsive whenever we had an issue.

This place was disgusting, I wouldn’t even call it a motel. The staff was okay enough no spectacular service or anything but that wasn’t a big deal or really expected. I go into the room and right away it smells disgusting. It was supposed to be a no smoking room, but it reeked. I go to see the bed, and the pillow cases and well as the pillow and sheets have yellow stains and feel wet and smell like mildew. That’s only the start as the rug also had many stains and we haven’t even discussed the restroom yet. The restroom you can see black mold everywhere it was genuinely so disgusting as the tub is the shower would be budging out on the floor as it seemed like water was pooling up under the plastic or whatever it is. Oh and let’s not forget the dead roaches that I found as well. Genuinely such a horrible stay and would not recommend anyone to stay here as I felt so uncomfortable throughout the night and could not sleep peacefully. Worst stay ever ESPECIALLY considering the price is somewhat a premium for what was offered, absolutely regret booking this place. DO NOT BOOK HERE

Room was clean. Manager that checked us in was very friendly. The hotel smelled musty upon entering the building and in all the halls and common areas. I did not realize that the pool area was open to the common areas resulting in the musty smell. Was looking for a room that had 3 beds for 3 adults. Service was terrible at best. No one at front desk for over 20 minutes and then when he showed up gave us attitude for wanting to check in. We got the jacuzzi room with early shaped tub and water was luke warm and when you turned on jets nasty water that was rust colored and freezing came out.. DISGUSTING! At check out we were wanting to talk to someone and they walked by us 2-3 times never stopped at desk to check us out so I tossed room key on counter and left. 170.00 for this was insane..

Bed was top notch. Pillows good. bath good. Good shower water pressure. Room Decor was hip and new. Window darkening shades: good.
Pool space is good. Workout room- good.

The bad: Good grief. Fix these guest room doors! Put some weatherstripping around the door jambs. Nothing worse than seeing bright light shining around the doors all night. Had to stuff towels around the doors to darken room. Also: no door strike around the Onity keyless lockset. Come on guys. You just carved a hole into the jamb and left it. Totally unsecure.
Also what's with the baby blue paint scheme on these doors and trim? Looks cheap, dated and crappy.
The exterior side entrances are crap! Spend some money and replace these 1970's hunks of crap with decent aluminum storefront doors.
All in all....You did some things good and then dropped the ball on the other items.

Overall, it was OK. The other hotel we usually stay at was full. This is an older worn hotel that has a fresh coat of paint and new furnishings in the rooms. On the surface it looks good, but if you look close, you can tell it still needs some work. For example, doors, trim and woodworking are worn. I would stay here again, but it would not be my first choice.

My stay at this hotel was less than satisfactory. The bathroom was in dire need of a deep cleaning, with visible grime and mold in several places. The rug around the bed appeared stained and smelled of urine. The entire hotel smelled of mildew.

Additionally, the remodel appeared hastily done and poorly executed, leaving much to be desired in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to others until significant improvements are made to address these issues.

We were in town for a concert. I read that it was recently updated. That is true, but the workmanship is sub-par. I was afraid to use the outlet by the sink because of the stucco all over it. The baseboard wasn't finished behind the toilet & there was visible water damage/mold on a wall next to an ice machine.
We saw online that the Ankeny Dinner was open until 8pm, however when we arrived at 10:10am for breakfast, they were closing.
They have put work into this hotel, but when you are paying for a Wyndham Hotel, you expect that level. It's just not at that level.

Stay not so good. The facility was undergoing some renovation. Our room had strong paint odor. The whole facility smelled like the chlorine from the pool. There was also no elevator. There were obvious areas in our room that were still in process. An outlet cover was missing. Exposed finishing nail at the shower edge. We also received a phone call from the front desk at 11:23 pm (waking us up) stating that they were doing a phone update and we would not have service in the morning. I was instructed that we would receive another call in a few minutes and needed to pick it up and hang up to make this update happen. We would have just driven home but we were just too tired by the time that call came in. Very unhappy with facility.

This newly remodeled hotel is a great option for families. It had a nice swimming pool with poolside rooms, laundry and a Diner attatched to the hotel with breakfast in the mornings. I am very impressed. There are some items on the surface that need a little work- but overall, I would definitely come back. This property is great and affordable- very impressed!!!

Lots of issues with doors. One exterior door wouldn't open with my key card, one exterior door was permanently open - anyone could walk in. The bathroom door (on a track like a barn door) did not open and close properly and came off the track many times during our stay. The door to our room did not feel securely shut. The desk in our room was not wiped down before our stay, the whole room felt like it wasn't properly cleaned. The price was lower, so maybe I should lower my standards, but I would pay more and stay somewhere else in the future.

First we found food in our fridge, we didnt say anything but in the back of our minds wondered what else in the place hadnt been cleaned.
Then in the morning while lookimg for something saw that between the vanity and the wall there was a toothbrush, hanger, empty shampoo containers and other various garbage.
Then as we went to leave for breakfast we realized the door latch was not functioning and our door would not close. Tried to call the front desk, the phone isnt even funtional, so I walked up there and the lady did not understand anything I was trying to tell her. First she thought I needed my key reprogrammed, and when I explained that the door wouldn't close, she had no help to offer except that maybe I was doing it wrong (closing a door wrong) and that she would let her manager know and someone would look at it.
Tried to explain that we were trying to leave for breakfast and we couldnt just leave the door wide open with all of our belongings inside and the only part she heard was we were trying to leave. \"Okay,\" and kept my key she was holding.
We had to gether all our stuff and leave and after breakfast, we had no place to return to until our event started later that day.

We did a quick little getaway with my family. We had a room with 3 beds. Overall the room was okay. The heater kept shutting off the 1st night and our door broke where it wouldn't latch without deadbolting it. The front desk ladybwas hard to understand and was kinda rude. I wasn't really impressed with quality of service. They have the Ankeny Diner attached to hotel and they gave you vouchers for breakfast there, wasn't super impressed with that either.

When we got there the pool was refilling so we couldn't swim that 1st night. The 2nd night we went to go swim and it was ice cold. My 18 month olds fingers, toes, and lips started to turn blue. So we had to go back to our room and \"swim\" in the bathtub. We tried to make the best of it.

They day we left the house keeper was SO SWEET to my kiddos and made us all smile. We adored her!

Checked in and was sent to rm 150. Walk in to a rm that was never cleaned. Then was told to grab my stuff and come to the front desk. I was then given keys to rm 250. Walk in and see base falling off the wall everywhere. I found the access door to the jacuzzi was broken. Checked to make sure the tub worked and only the cold faucet worked. Then told me to sit tight for about 20-30 minutes and they’d get the first rm cleaned and ready to go. So after over an hour’s time messing with rooms, I finally settled into 150. Wife and I took a bath. The air bubbles were freezing cold air. Left super early in the morning. Was totally disappointed by this place. Will NEVER be back or recommend.

It took 3 people to check us in, we had no hot water in our room. The room had also not been heated so it was about 50 degrees upon entry. The sheets they use on the beds do not cover it fully. There was no comforter, and they were unsure if they could get us a an additional blanket ( they did).

We asked to move rooms, abd the first thing we were asked was if we had disturbed the bed (because clearly they do not have adequate staff to tidy up the room) and after several difficulties and 30 minutes of that, we said we would simply return to the original room. We were reassured that if we ran the water for 3-4 minutes, we would get hot water. There was hot water in the sink, but the shower water was barely warm.

Additionally, the toilets have not been properly installed as it can shift on the floor very easily.

Finally, I had indicated that I would pay at property through Expedia, and before we even checked in, my credit card had been charged by the hotel.

There were a number of other issues with the property and room that are less egregious, but overall this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at.

No bang for my buck.

I was not impressed for the money I spent for three nights. Went to get a cup of coffee in the morning before breakfast and the coffee was cold. The front desk lady told me to pour another cup and it would be warmer. That wasn’t the case, it was colder than my first attempt. Then when I asked for more coffee pods for the room, it was like I was asking for something that was being rationed. Then we had an issue with the door to our room. The lady at the desk didn’t care. She even let me know when dealing with the door issue I had been to the desk to complain four times that morning, she was wrong, I’d been there only three times. When dealing with the door issue she was still consumed about me saying the coffee was cold. We did not get the bang for our buck. When checking out, we were not asked about our stay. The front desk lady was more concerned about her personal phone calls and being annoyed when we needed something. The didn’t offer a breakfast but offered a certificate for 5 dollars off breakfast at the restaurant in the same building. The front desk lady was annoyed when we asked for certificates every morning as she had to fill the certificate out. As I drove around Ankeny on a weekend, the hotel parking lots looked full, this one was the exception and was not.

They have done some remodeling since the first time we stat there. The beds comfortable. The pool is nice.

Not worthy of the Wyndham Garden Branding

They have been renovating this property for over 2 years and the workmanship is shoddy and amateurish. In the hallways, the carpeting is loose everywhere and the trim at the baseboards and around door jams is partial. The work in the rooms is mismatched and non-professional. We stayed 4 nights and had to ask for new towels frequently as there was no place to hang a towel for possible double use. There computer system was not working at the front desk and so they wrote down my info and credit card number. I was called at 9:30pm at night on our 3rd night in the property and was told my card was declined. I stopped by the desk so they could check the card with what was written down and they said it was declined again. I checked my bank app on my phone and IT WAS NEVER DECLINED. It was accepted the first time they ran it. This is a no go for us ever again and I can't believe this company allows their brand to be represented in this type of facility.

This property was so nasty! I think it’s in the middle of renovation but they’re still renting the rooms. It was dirty, unfinished, bugs all over and the hallways smelled like mold/mildew.

Negative-There we no towels in the room. Room smelled musty, halls smelled cat urine, bed coverings were damp,
Positive-Plenty of hot water, beds were comfortable. Very nice decor, nice exterior, plenty of restaurants within walking distance, plenty of parking
