Although the hotel is nice and the room very nice it was a very impersonal experience and on top of that when trying to check out early in the morning the clerk was carrying on a private conversation on the phone in the room behind the front desk for a number of minutes and when i finally got his attention he was a bit rude as if i had interupted him, needless to say i did not leave to catch my flight with a very good taste in my mouth.

Lights not working, no heat nor ventilation in the bathroom and a bed that felt like concrete. Add to that staff that try to squeeze extra money from you for services that are already included in your booking and ignore other included benefits and you get the perfect combination of an uncomfortable stay with service to match.
If you have to spend one night at Berlin airport, find a bench in the departure hall - it’s free, just as comfortable and with better service.

While this may seem like common sense for frequent travelers, I strongly recommend checking that the shower in your room is functioning properly before you start unpacking. Otherwise, you could face significant inconvenience.
Additionally, if your booking includes a 20% off food and beverages, be sure to request the coupon at the reception before heading to the restaurant. In my experience, the staff did not mention anything during my check-in.

Taxi from main station unable to get to the hotel because he wasn’t licensed for the airport. We had to drag our luggage 100 m through the rain. No mini bar!! No room service menu!! Ordered food to the room not knowing the price ( food was good, but expensive. ) toilet flushing mechanism was defedective ( water didn’t shut off most times after flushing) .

Overnight stay, excellent all round, my only complaint was Breakfast was from 05.30, and as I had an early flight to catch went a little bit early, entered the self serve restaurant where everything was impeccably laid out, I served myself, and as I sat down to tuck in, a waiter appeared and told me off, saying we don't open for another 6 minutes, if it was so important, the door was lockable, but not locked?

The shower did not drain, it was obviously a reoccurring problem because the room smelled like mold and the water leaked under the tile to the carpet in the bedroom. Should have been fixed before renting the room. I called the front desk and the offered a different room but it was late and I didn’t want to move.

The room was unbearably hot and setting the temp down as low as it would go (-4 degrees) took forever to cool down the room. When I woke at 4 am still naked and uncovered with ANY bedding and was still dripping sweat after having the HVAC system as cool as it would go for 5 hrs, it was clear there was something wrong. It took forever to fall asleep and I was awakened twice in just 5 hrs (before getting up at 4) by the heat and sweat.

The room I was given was clean but the toilet seat was covered with dried pee. photo provided. You can catch serious disease through unsanitary toilets in addition it is disgusting. This is not acceptable!
I had to change room dress back re pack instead of going bed and resting.

Both the breakfast buffet and the restaurant for lunch and dinner are excellent, and the bar is well stocked. The reception desk is somewhat hapless. There are two staff there, but the process of checking in is slow, especially when a flight crew or other small group shows up. When I cancelled our final breakfast the day before we left, the process was ridiculously slow and complicated. The room is pleasant looking and the bed is very comfortable. However, despite the presence of a thermostat, guests have in fact no control over temperature, which is set for the whole system. It was set very warm (22 C, 75 F), way to warm for sleeping, but we were told that the way to adjust the temperature is to open the window. That works for a while, but as the night time temperature was about 40F, we got up during the night to close it. Unfortunately the room fairly quickly became hot again, so we got up again to reopen the window. With the window closed, the hotel is very quiet, but with the window open you start hearing jets take off and land early in the morning. The hotel is very close to public transportation. It takes roughly half an hour to get downtown. In sum, plusses and minuses.

I was really disappointed with this hotel - booked for the convenience of the proximity to the airport terminal the overall look is classy and well appointed, The room has problems however - it was far too hot and the air-con was ineffectual. This meant had to open a window which halted the air con immediately. The bed had a small top mattress which made the single bed unstable and we both felt like we could fall out on the side. Finally to top it this morning there was a cockroach running around the stylish bathroom. Perhaps a little more concentration on the basics was needed.
I would have complained but on leaving there was no-one around!

Our Expedia confirmed reservation was not in the hotel 's system, and after the two incompetent people at reception had wasted a lot of time, finally they brought in a manager who gave us a room. The room was spacious and pleasant and quiet but the thermostat didn't work, and although we tried to lower the temperature, it kept getting hotter and remained uncomfortably hot at night. Finally in the morning we realized that we could actually open the window. The breakfast is fabulous, with a n amazing variety of healthy food. The coffee machine makes lots of options, including hot cocoa, but not decaf. Public transport into town is easy and near.

I stayed here for one night due to a morning flight, and it was VERY convenient to the airport. It took me about 5 minutes to get from my room to the flight check-in area. Excellent breakfast! Excellent food selection and eggs/omelets cooked to order. The hotel is your typical corporate-feel airport hotel. The room itself was clean and a good size. Nice lighting options in the room. I traveled in early September, and the room was very hot. The air conditioner did not work well at all. You could slightly open the windows, but due to the hotel's proximity to the airport, it was too loud to sleep with them open. I kept hearing the jet engines on the nearby runway taking off with the windows open. With the windows closed, the noise was not an issue. There were no coffee/tea services in my room, but I did receive a complimentary bottle of water. I ate dinner at the restaurant downstairs. The food was good, but the service was very slow. Allow for substantial time. Overall, if you need a room close to the airport, this hotel is a good option. I would stay again...in a colder month.

It was the fifth or sixth time that we used Steigenberger as the hotel in Berlin. Location is excellent for access to the airport. The hotel is very clean.

However, the renovation started last year and this year still was unfinished. No shower in the sauna area.
Also the breakfasts used to be better, with bigger selection and food quality.

Clean, convenient, and comfortable. But the lack of more than two power outlets in the entire room makes it quite inconvenient for the modern traveler with multiple tech charging needs. And the kiosk for automated check in that bypasses the front desk takes much longer than simply waiting for a human.

So, overall OK for sleeping. Quite a comfy bed, and the room and bathroom are very clean.

Meals are expensive but easy enough to walk to the terminal and get food from the option in the airport

Very poor services. First requested for extra pillows at check in on 24.08/2026. We never got them till checkout on 26th. Two whole days after despite a reminder.
Second, the AC in the room wasn’t cooling well right from check in and stoppped working at all in the night of 25th. What an experience for a fine hotel that ought to be a five star hotel. Disappointing.

Airport hotel in Berlin

The hotel was right at the airport so that was good. The biggest thing that we did not like was that the air conditioning was not good. We very very warm during the night and had the same problem at the Steigenberger hotel in Berlin City Center. We complained but we were told nothing could be done.

At the bar and dining area. Nah, one of the servers/manager was very friendly, courteous and informative!
