Location is ideal otherwise hotel need a revamp

Hotel location was excellent as Dongmen street market is right beside and also the Lao Jie MRT Station (underground) is also on the left side of the hotel building. However hotel need a revamp or reworks (renovation) as most of the ceiling and walls are turning yellowish and strong smell in the toilet and room. Furniture are also very old and creeky.

Great location, but property worn out.

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the Dongmen shopping district, and a stone throw from the MRT station (exit D next to H&M). However, the hotel is run down and worn out. And the staff are less than friendly. The breakfast menu is targeted at the local clientele only.

This hotel really need some renovation. There are wet stain all over . From 6th floor 1st time we stay. To 2nd floor 2nd time we stay.
There are little bugs at one of the room on 2nd floor.
Good thing is location. Walk across is the MTR station. Food and shopping is down stairs. Things are very cheap.
Mean reason stay is location and price is the only plus.

Location is great. Shopping just walking distance. Don't have to worry about food cause they are very close. Next to a mall. Free breakfast. Free instant coffee package and tea every day.
Price.

Bad.
They only give you 1 key. Bed is little hard. Mold/fungi everywhere.
Wall are thin. I can hear the next room conversation.
Beware of noseeum. 😰My kids got lots of bites

I have stayed Sunon many times already. The major reason is that this hotel is very close by Dongmen. Furthermore, the price is very reasonable. It has a pretty good wifi. Periodically it will be providing free upgrade for a better room

My Favourite

Minimum visit is twice a year and it has always been my favourite hotel for the past 5 years. The staff is friendly and the hotel is easily accessible by subway to most places of interest. It is within walking distance to the Dongmen area (ladies shopping paradise) as well as local eateries.

We, party of 3 adults n one 23 months old boy, specifically book one family room with One Kingsize bed n one twin bed 3 months ago.
However upon check in, reception insist reservation was just One Queen size bed saying we need to sought it out w Hotel.com
I try calling Hotel.com but to no avail; As we had a long trip travelling from HK to Shenzhen couple w my 23 months old grandson having fever, we were too tired to argue n change to one Room with two nos super single bed paying extra RMB 60 per night, total RMB 180.

The building was horrible and didn’t even like to go for breakfast as it just look gross. No idea how did they get 4star rating. Paid for 3 person and only two small twin bed and not comfortable at all and to add another bed cost 152¥. Staff don’t know English and it was very hard to explain them.

“Unfriendly” hotel that needs major overhaul

Room is dirty especially the carpet.
Toilet is not clean, toilet seat has stain under the cover. Bath drainage is very slow resulting in water overflow to the outside.

Great location

The staff double booked my room. I walked into a room with a guy already there, very shocked and awkward. The staff eventually took care of it but these kind of things shouldn’t happen in the first place. The breakfast was ok. The bed is VERY hard and uncomfortable, and this comes form a guy who likes his mattress firm. The big plus is the location. Walking distance to everything, surprisingly not noisy at night. Bottom line: You get what you pay for.

Very good hotel, needs room updates, however it was clean, confortable and great location next to metro station and near to pedestrian streets and malls. When we check out we needed a taxi but they told us they couldn't call it for us, we had to go to the street with lugagge and take it by ourselves.

Wifi reduced VALUE score from 4 to 3.

If you do not need wifi, this is a good place to stay. Great location, clean (ok not super) and quiet. However, bad to no wfif is a deal breaker for me. There are too many places to stay that have ok to good wifi. I will not return.

Always print ur confirmation letter as a PROVE!

Was there early for check-in and the staff named May was helpful enough to do the check in for us and even asked us to go for breakfast first. She told us that everything was done and we can get our rooms after our breakfast since she had already registered for our stay. We did what she told and returned to the hotel after our breakfast but when I approached the staff at the counter (no longer May but 2 other trainee) and passed her our receipt to get our rooms, the new staff told us that there are only 1 room that shown from their hotel website. I am very sure that I ordered 2 rooms and even paid it with my Visa earlier on as I have received the confirmation email from hotel.com. The staff showed me the ordered list from their side and I even pointed one of the line that wrote \"1 of the 2 rooms\" which clearly shows that the form is referring to 1 room but there's 2 in total. After pointing it out, the staff insisted that they only received 1 room from their side with a very bad attitude asking us to wait and trying to prove that we are wrong. With that I requested for May who did all the registration for us to clear things up. Finally May helped and told them that we are right....blessed!

Location is perfect for shopping, just right on the Laojie shopping district.
Laojie is really a nice, people are general honest and price competitive.
Breakfast has limited variety, so just eat a little and head over to Laojie with many choice.
Really enjoy and will stay here if come back

Sunon is in a great location on the the Dongman shopping street and is adjacent to a number or MRT exits. Great food, shopping and energy from the area. The hotel is a good, clean middle option but is al little tired and could do with a spruce up.

This hotel is every near to Laojie metro, exit E (from the lift) and surrounded by shopping complexes. Is just about 200m walk to reach the Men Zhen Bu 2 station (门诊部2站). I booked Sup twin room with b/f for abt MYR230/n. The room is clean (except the bathroom, shower area), good wifi reception (the hotel allocate 1 room 1 wifi connection point), window but no view (facing another building), plenty of tv channel (at least 50 channels), mostly mandarin programme. Breakfast provided, not bad for me, is buffet style with Chinese food, bread, swiss roll, nasi lemak, coffee/tea and etc. Restaurant is small, about 10 tables, open from 7am to 10am. There is no email contact for this hotel, even Air Asia can't find the email address and I forgot to ask the hotel staff when I was there. Don't expect the staff to speak English. Allow early check in (10am) even it was not arrange in advance. Please note that you are expect to pay RMB300 as deposit and collect back upon check out.

We stayed 3 nights but on the 2nd day, our floor suddenly has renovation on the walls, hope the hotel has better early planning rather than asking us to move room. We decided to stay in our same room for the remaining days and thankfully we do not hear any working noise, except that the whole corridor is in a mess.

Overall, the hotel is ok, i got friendly receptionist, but not so good for the midnight personnel as he looked confused with the booking

The worst hotel I ever stay

The price of the hotel you sold is totally not value for it. Very small room, staff not helpful,

I booked 4 rooms with 4 night stays and on my arrival, my flight landed the next day morning. I told your staff I need to request one room late check out and the balance 3 rooms return on time. Your staff promises to inform the hotel and whether we get it or not, I don't mind but I was totally lost when there is no record showing we need one room late check out.

If I know your staff can't even request the one room late check out, I could have simply booked one room on my first day of arrival and the balance 3 rooms on the 2nd days of arrival. I still save 3 rooms X 1 day price.

This will be my first and last trust and confident on your service. I will not recommend your service to anyone.

Please delete my membership from your list. Please Do not need to reply and cause I do not want to receive any of your promotion.

Hotel in Dongmen, Shenzhen

We stayed at Sunon Hotel for a night recently. Although it was located near a MRT exit, the entrance is not that obvious. There were two personnel at the reception when we arrived and they were indeed extremely busy. But since we were next in line, I thought it would be a short wait. But this turned out not to be. Not only were they slow and inefficient, instead of attending to us next after such a long wait, the freed receptionist turned her attention to another guest who came after us. This really left a bad taste in the mouth. We were given a room on the third floor. I was apprehensive and asked for a higher floor room, but I was told most of the guests had not yet checked out...
The room turned out to be OK - since our main concern was noise from the street at that time. And that was because it faced a dead end back alley. What were weren't prepared for was the total lack of sound insulation from the \"neighborhood\". We were constantly thinking someone was trying to open our door when in fact it was them attempting to get into their own room. The walls might as well not have been there... Even though the amenities in the room were adequate, it certainly needed a refurbishment badly.
The included breakfast was, well it was included.

staff needs motivation

I have been a regular customer for more than 5 years since they renovated in 2008. Used to be much better under the management of holiday villa but its a typical chinese hotel now. Staff are glued to the LED TV as usual, and neglect their duties to clear plates promptly. They now has a perfect hidding corner for watching the Tv - behind the egg live counter which is no longer in operation. Pillows are flat and old. hope they get new ones like they did for pillow sheets and towels. By the way, my room is missing of 2 chairs and 1 fridge. When queried, they said they were spoilt without any replacement.

Although we stay in a non-window superior room, but the comfort is the same as a window room. Our stay was comfortable coupled with the convenience of shopping, near to Dongmen and MRT just next door. Just next to the hotel, there are many shops doing pedicure and manicure for just RMB30.

If WI-FI is important to you don't stay here!!!!

It was a great place to stay with one exception, the WI-FI is so bad that I can't consider going back there and that's a shame because the people there are really nice but WI-FI is a necessity and I had to depend on the hotel next door for Wi-Fi from their leakage which was far better than the WI-FI at Sunon so I might as well stay next door on future trips there.

During our recent trip to Hong Kong, we took a break of two nights in Shenzhen. We were recommended by my brother to stay at this hotel. We can be more than pleased at his recommendation. The location was simply fantastic. We could find good shopping and food within walking distance from the hotel. More importantly, the staff were extremely friendly and went the extra mile to help us with directions and internet connections. The room are very clean and everything work just fine. It certainly value for money.

I found the service of the hotel to be good. Can't make external calls from your room. Essentially a basic hotel with a high price tag due to location, which is the pedestrian street with a plethora of shopping. Couple minute to subway station. Numerous eating places nearby. Rooms could be better soundproofed.

Not a good hotel anymore

I'm a regular with this hotel as I go to shenzhen every year. It used to be a good hotel with friendly staff and breakfast is reasonable good spread with good quality. Over the last 2 years, it has detoriated so much that when I went back to stay in the hotel this year, the quality of food is so much inferior. Tea is as bland as water. All new staff at both restaurant and reception. Restaurant staff do not clear plates actively and often take a while even after the guests have left the table. Why? Because the staff are glued to the 2 LED TVs in the restaurant. Housekeeping staff do not wash my used dirty coffee cup in the room. Bed is hard, small and old. Toilet bowl is old and get jammed easily. Towels are thin and wore out. Time for a renovation and provide more incentives to recruit the correct staff with better quality and training. Not worth the money to stay here anymore, I will probably try the ZTL hotel next door instead the next time I'm in Shenzhen.

Smelly room and tattered towels

When we first entered our room, it smelled like sewage. We thought that it was caused by toilet backup when the guest one floor up or down flushes their toilet.. Because we checked in around 11pm, we didn't want to bother changing into another room and decided to just close the toilet door and hope for the best. However, the smell permeates into the room. Besides, we need to go to the bathroom to take shower. My wife went down to ask for change of room. The attendant asked a bellboy to check it out. He said he will \"attend to the matter\" first and if it does not improve, they will change the room. He then sprayed the bathroom with some Lysol or chrorox and told us to open the window a little bit to air the room. The smell did go away. He explained that it is musty smell due to closed quarter. I told him that since he knows the reason and the solution, the cleaning lady should do likewise. Overall, the room was OK for the price. However, they should not scrimp on the towels. Almost all, except a couple, were tattered (shreds) and torn. Our rags at home are in better condition than their towels!

hotel is located right above LAOJIE metro station. neighbourhood filled with eateries and shops -wholesales and retailers. hotel itself is very clean and sufficiently comfortable. staffs are friendly. this is slightly above the average china 3 star hotel. breakfast was good. much better than i had expected. i will stay again in this hotel, if the price is still the same.

The hotel is convenient to the MRT- just a few feet from the Laojie station (exit F). The online rates are very reasonable and a good bit cheaper than the walk-in rate. The room was comfortable. It had a king size bed which was really two single mattresses side by side, so the small gap was noticeable sometimes. The bed was very firm. Hard really. I liked it but others might not. The bathroom was sufficient. The hot water was super hot. Almost like Mickey D's coffee hot. So I was careful to keep the hot-cold knob in the middle. The shower head didn't move enough. It was aimed kind of high, at a shower door that didn't quite close all the way. The room included a buffet breakfast which had plenty of Chinese style breakfast foods. I ate noodles, vegetables, bean paste filled buns, watermelon, hard boiled eggs, Chinese style bacon and fried bananas ( I was there for more than one day).

Bad hotel but in a good location.

Internet wifi connection is very unreliable. And this is very frustrating.
The bed mattress is too hard for comfort. The bed is also uneven as it seems like they joined two beds together to become one big bed, instead of having just one big bed itself.
The toilet is too small and crammed.
The tray in the shower to put my toiletries is unreasonably high only a giant can reach for it.
The shower does not have a running tap, only a shower head.
There is no 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign so the housekeeping will attempt to enter the room every morning while I'm still asleep. This is rather annoying and stupid. The room has a very musky and stale smell and is overall very small to move comfortably around. Only positive thing is the location and proximity to shopping and train station.

Old hotel at Good location

Old hotel. Located at dongmen area. Walking distance to major shopping area and food. Wide variety of food choices available in the district.
close proximity to lao jie metro station and louhu custom for crossing to HK.
Standard breakfast provided but they do not refill the food after 9am.
only drawback is the bathroom always flood after bathing.

Upon arrival was greeted by the front desk staff, took care of all my questions, very friendly, helpful, and smiling always, made the stay very enjoyable,and would refer this to others when there.
