Many wonderful things about this hotel. The breakfast is wonderful. Large selection and something for everyone. The lobby has fresh fruit and hot drinks and croissants for free all day. The rooms have a yoga mat you can use for the stay. It wonderful. Just a very lovely place for a lower cost than other nearby hotels. Close to train station easy walk — lots of shops and restaurants near by.

Night before home.

Was our last night in Switzerland before heading home and saying until later to my daughter/son in law. Got there about 8:30pm and our check in was on the counter ready for us. Breakfast had a wide variety and was delicious. If come back to Switzerland would book again.

Amazing stay during Easter

Amazing service: from the reception to the restaurants, as well the kids club, everyone was really lovely amd did a great job.
The room was big and clean. The food was really good and we enjoyed the vegan and vegetarian options.
The kids corner is amazing, a lot of great montessori toys.
The swimming pool was also really comfortable.

This place to perfect to relax with kids.

Very good hotel. Rooms in excellent condition and beautifullly restored. Hotel was spacious, staff very helpful and positive throughout. Hotel offers complimentary bottled water as well as a kettle for tea/coffee. Very large bathroom, not always the case in Europe. Breakfast was fine, but more of a classic cold buffet style affair, although there were boiled eggs and some scrambled eggs (that weren't that great) and bacon. The bread didn't seem to as fresh as it could be. Hotel restaurant excellent for dinner, very high quality food indeed, good wine list and staff who were really attentive. All about 400m from the Bahnhof. This is my new 'best place in Winterthur', since the previous hotel I used a lot put its rates up....

Convenient and Welcoming

The area the hotel is in is convenient to the train and bus station,which was really nice. The hotel was very accommodating, it was nice to have air conditioning and the staff was very kind. Breakfast was minimal, but still tasted good. My only disappointment was that most of the stores and restaurants closed at 6pm, making it difficult to find dinner when I returned after my workday.

Comfort and convenience in the heart of Winterthur

I stayed one night in the standard queen room in July, 2018. This hotel is very conveniently located (5 minutes walking distance from the main train station, on the main historic/commercial street in town) and was recently renovated.Two receptionists at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, had free WiFi access and there was a hand written welcoming note and a tasty wafer waiting for me on the bed. In the bathroom there was a big rainfall shower head and Ritual toiletries that smelled very relaxing. Free breakfast pleasantly surprised me and was plentiful and delicious. The only downside was that the window in my room was facing the building next door so there wasn't much of a view. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay at Sorell Hotel Krone, would gladly stay here again and could recommend it to anybody who is looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in the heart of Winterthur.

Hotel was well located, near to train station and shopping alleys. Nice eateries around there. Some areas of service could be better like drinking water in the room, tea/coffee packets in the room, fan or airconditioner in the room as I was there during summer.

Hot summer, even hotter room

Middle of summer, temp. In the ranges of 35 degrees celcius and no airconditioning in the room?

It was tough sleeping, even with windows wide open.

Other than that the refreshing tea they serve at reception is delicious. I must have drunk 2 liters.

Hotel location was very central. Now for the critical aspects. No air conditioning in the Hotel. Coming from US, where even Minnesota and Alaska have air conditioning, to expect a hotel in Zurich not to have air conditioning when the mercury is in the 90's is hard to expect. We had to sleep with the windows open and with the downtownish location of the hotel, with tons of bars and disco's in the neighborhood, there was a lot of noise. All in all, could not get proper sleep while there. Decent breakfast, good wifi and staff but unfortunately will not recommend staying here.

I stayed here for business. You get what you pay for - very simple rooms. No bells or whistles.

My only real complaint is there are no screens on the windows. It was too hot in the room to not leave them open and it got buggy and I was constantly worried about birds.

Nice location, best value for the money

The hotel is located in a quiet and calm area, it is 15 minutes away walking to the city center and really close to a train station I did not use the public transportation the walk is really enjoyable. The hotel room is small and comfortable just what you'll need since you're going to be spending more time outside enjoying the city. Staff was friendly and spoke English really well, breakfast buffet is simple yet good enough to fill up.

Most enjoyable stay in the heart of the old town

After months of travel, finally an hotel with adequate space for suitcases. My room was very comfortable, with cleanliness even beyond my highest expectation. Breakfast was excellent for my purposes The staff friendly and made sure that any questions regarding getting around were answered as well as at the official bus and train centres. I have one regret, that I booked the cheapest room, which was not beautifully furnished. The comfort was still excellent, though. I won't even consider going anywhere else when I go back to Winterthur.

Fantastic Location, Friendly Staff

A wonderful two night stay with breakfast and internet included. Walk from the train station, enjoy the shops and restaurants. Ask for a quiet room and listened to the bells chime. The room is mall by American standards but similar to other European style rooms for a single.

An acceptable hotel for short stays.

The hotel was situated in the \"Market\" area of Winterthur, which made for a noisy environment. The pluses include:
1. It's situated within walking distance to the train station, which was very convenient.
2. Located in the \"Market Area\" made it convenient for shopping and access to restruarants.
3. The Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke a variety of languages including German, French and English.
4. The breakfast buffett was excellent.
5. In general the hotel was clean and well maintained.

The minuses included:
1. The room was extremely small without air conditioning.
2. Lots of noise from the market area at \"all hours of the night.\"

No air conditioning at the beginning of August was a nightmare, especially as I had to have the windows permanently open and there were bells ringing nearby every 30 minutes all night (no idea why!). Parking was a problem as well, but that's to be expected of somewhere this central in a pedestrianised area I suppose. A pity because it's a lovely hotel in a great location otherwise

My room was nice, very spacious and a comfy bed. The staff are fine and you get small hotel service, mostly with a smile.

Whilst I would recommend the hotel, I'm not sure I will stay there again. This is because I value a quiet location very highly and due to the location in the centre of the town this wasn't the case. This was largely down to mine being a first floor room and therefore I could hear a lot of noise from the street and the bells that chimed every hour throughout the night. My colleagues who were on higher floors said they didn't hear anything.

I loved this Hotel. It was so conveniently located. Everyone I met that worked there was polite. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast that included salmon and champagne! If I return to Winterthur I will consider this hotel again.

Sorrell Hotel Krone in Winterthur

This is a very well located hotel and the staff very friendly. Unfortunately it was very hot at the time I stayed and none of the rooms are air-conditioned so the room was like a sauna. The windows could not be opened at night as it right in town and the clock towers chiming every 15 minutes are very loud. All this made an otherwise excellent hotel at great value for money an uncomfortable experience. At any time of year other than summer, I would highly recommend this hotel.

High Quality - urban hotel in center of Winterthur's pedestrian zone is convenient to Zurich Airport. Hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to rail station where express trains leave for Zurich Airport every 20-30 minutes.

Off the beaten path, but worth the hunt.

Our stay at Krone got off to a bad start through no fault of the hotel: the cabbie at the Zurich train station had great difficulty finding the Krone in Winterthur. After that, things got better rapidly. The location is ideal, close to transportation, nice shops and a wonderful \"locals\" German restaurant. Very nice Continental breakfast and decent meals at noon. Some of the desk clerks could use better training in local attractions. A good 3-star choice.

Das Zimmer war sehr gepflegt und das Frühstück reichhaltig. Einziger Negativpunkt ist das Check-in. Weshalb muss meine Frau sich ebenfalls noch registrieren. Eigentlich hätte das Hotel sämtliche Angaben durch meine Buchung erhalten. Deshalb sollte ich nur noch den Schlüssel erhalten und gut.....

Ett bra hotell med förbättringsmöjligheter

I stort sett trevlig vistelse men med vissa brister. Vi bodde både i ett standardrum och ett de luxerum. Standardrummet var inte så bra. Sängen var nedlegad och smal och man kunde inte reglera vattentemperaturen i duschen. Espressomaskinen var trasig och det var väldigt varmt på rummet. De luxe rummet var mycket bättre och större med king size säng och dusch som gick att ändra vattentemperatur på. Dock var espressomaskinen trasig där också och handtvålen var slut. Frukosten var god och riklig.

Sehr zu empfehlen. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist der Hammer. Tolle Zimmer mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Locker 4 Sternehotel. Parkplatz etwas teuer, aber gut gelegen. Lediglich die Beschreibung zur Garage war umständlich. Da man eh über die Fußgängerzone fahren muss, kann man auch gleich mitteilen, das sich das direkt hinter dem Hotel befindet. Winterthur ist die erste Stadt, die ich kenne, die Fahrradparkzeiten begrenzt!

Das Hotelzimmer war geräumig, sauber und an ruhiger Lage in der Altstadt. Das Personal war freundlich. Einzig die Speisekarte war sehr klein. Es hat mir sehr gefallen und ich würde sofort wieder in diesem Hotel übernachten.

fussgängerzone.zur überraschung wars im hotel selber sehr,sehr ruhig,kein lärm von aussen zu hören.standardzimmer im 4.stock,(404)lift,war gross genug ums bett um noch ein deryan-reisebett reinzustellen.wir waren 3 nächte da.für mehr würde ich ein grösseres zimmer buchen. grosser schrank im eingangsbereich.schreibtisch mit bequemem bürostuhl.safe,kleiner kühlschrank und espresso-professional maschine.kapseln und thee wird täglich nachgefüllt.tassen vorhanden.das bad ist neu mit regendusche.gross genug für und zu dritt (2erw.1kleinkind).herrlich duftende amenities von rituals:querbeet durchs sortiment😉.kein einheitlicher duft/linie.tägliches ersetzen was gebraucht wurde.fenster zum öffnen tum hof.boxspringbett mit daunenduvet und 4kissen.wir haben etwas geschwitzt da wir die klima nicht laufen lassen wollten.schwere verdunklungsvorhänge und fenster zum öffnen.automatische aussenstorren gegen die sonnen.klimaanlage funktioniert,selbst einstellbar,ohne gebrauchsanweisung.fernseher o.k.wlan gratis ohne code zum einloggen.frühstück grosse auswahl zum selbernehmen.die frühstücksdame ist sehr zuvorkommend und nett.der kinderstuhl stand immer bei unsrem tisch bereit.3räume zum frühstücken.bei gutem wetter auch draussen,an der hinter seite des hotels auf der terrasse.gäste wc im 1.stock.wir kommen sicher nochmal in dieses hotel:noch lange nicht alles gesehen von winterthur u. Umgebung.
