These modern self-catering apartments are set in the quiet area of Sitio dos Moinhos, a few minutes away from Carvoeiro's town centre. Its tranquil location is a great contrast to the glitz and glamour of neighbouring Vilamoura to the east and the popularity of Lagos to the west.

This quiet, small-town experience is what makes Carvoeiro and Quinta Polaris unique, while remaining affordable. It comes with none of the frills that other high-rise hotels or luxury vacation rentals in Algarve have, yet all the necessities for a fun holiday are provided for.


When you stay at Placid Village in Lagoa, you'll be near the beach, a 4-minute drive from Carvoeiro Beach and 7 minutes from Benagil Beach. This apartment is 13.6 mi (21.9 km) from Alvor Beach and 15.6 mi (25 km) from Sao Rafael Beach.

We loved our stay at Placid Village. The host was very helpful and friendly. They delivered a huge breakfast of a fruit tray, pancakes, a variety of breads, milk, juice, coffee. There were several nice restaurants nearby 5 minutes driving. There are several beaches and the seven hanging valley trailhead within 5minutes driving. The area is very quiet and dark at night.
The only problem I had was that gps sent me to a somewhat isolated residential area using the address listed. I reentered gps using the name “placid village” and I found it easily.

Our stay was amazing. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Our unit was clean and well stocked for our stay. We did have breakfast included in our stay, it is what I call a European breakfast. Cereals,fresh fruits, pastry’s ect. Walk down to Cavierio beach is about 15 minutes. Great options to grocery stores. We had a vehicle which gave us easy access to the rest of the area. You can’t go wrong with these accommodations.

Wonderful stay. My family stayed 5 nights in a two bedroom apartment. Short drive to beautiful beaches, short walk to town, but very quiet surrounding the hotel. Plentiful parking at the hotel.

Washing machine in the apartment was VERY convenient as we were on a longer trip (you'll need to supply your own detergent - bring laundry strips, or there's a supermarket short drive away).

Only thing is that it was bit far from the large supermarket but you can take uber or bolt and only cost you under 5 euro.

This was one of our favorite places that we stayed in Portugal. Placid Village was located in a quiet area, but only a 15 minute walk to the restaurants and beaches in town. Going back to the hotel was an uphill walk, but not too bad if you are in decent shape. In the evening we did Uber back. Did not cost much at all to Uber. We loved our rooms with a bath and a half, plus, a washing machine. The kitchen was great, but our favorite was the beautiful pool area. So quiet and enjoyable. We spent every afternoon at the pool. We are recommending to family and friends coming in the future.

I didn’t realize that the property was far from the strip. Expedia said 18 min walk but the walk is down many streets. There are no restaurants nearby, we had to hop in the car to get anywhere. It was a close drive to carvoeiro downtown and a good location to do hiking but everything must be accessed with a car. There is someone at the reception desk til dusk, then a security guard is there overnight. There is parking on site. The suite is large, clean and has a washing machine and a large terrace. The unit has all amenities .. need to being laundry soap etc, again nothing nearby so best to stop at a grocery store before checking in, check time is 4 pm , they don’t let you check in early. Bed was comfortable but tight - was a double.
The place is very clean and very quiet, very peaceful .. each morning they are our cleaning the pool area. If you are okay to drive for outings this is a nice tranquil place.

Good kitchen equipment and very thoughtful provision of cleaning cloth pan scrub and dishwasher tables. Also fresh coffee and filters for the machine. Property was good overall, close to Praia de carvoeiro and all the restos around (17 min walk or 4 min drive). I suggest taking your car and trying to find parking ahead of the strip as it is practically impossible to park on the strip. Only inconvenience was the bed, it is too small (double bed) instead of a queen or a king size. I would also recommend adding more towels.

We were booked as a group of 12 and this was our fourth hotel. The other hotels all placed us close together. Since I booked months in advance, it was disappointing that we were spread into 4 different buildings. My room smelled of sewage the whole time we were there. There was a lot of mold in the bathroom and no place to hang towels. I was expecting a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom but it was 1 and a half bathrooms. There was only one shower for 4 of us. The
other rooms were nicer, cleaner and had better views so the rest of my family was happy. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Placid Village in Carvoeiro, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The location is absolutely perfect, offering easy access to all the charm and beauty of Carvoeiro.

The apartment itself was outstanding, equipped with all the appliances one could need, making it feel like a home away from home. The comfort and convenience provided were top-notch.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the village. The pool and other amenities exceeded all my expectations, providing relaxation and enjoyment beyond what I had hoped for.

Located in a quiet area of Carvoeiro the property and grounds, pool etc are kept in good condition.
Apartment was well equipped with dishwasher and washing machine etc and AC.
All staff were friendly and very helpful.
A hire car is useful but Carvoeiro is walkable, but the the return walk is uphill and very steep in places. Cars can be hired through the hotel and the rate we got was better than going direct to the bigger companies.
We would definitely return here if we go back to this area.

Wasn’t what was portrayed on the site. Very basic - economy suite. Very small pool - you had to drive to the beach. - walkable if you wanted to walk 3 miles. The lights from the hotel shined in our suite and the outside shutters were broken - I could not close them. I didn’t get much sleep in 4 days. Only a few chairs to sit on by the pool ??? We never could get a chair to lie on. They need to invest in more chairs. Also the balcony table and chairs were broken and weathered. Would not recommend sorry.

It’s a nice property with a lot of space. Booked an apartment for 4 people, wasn’t happy that when I got to the room it was a handicapped room with a shower in the middle of the floor with only a curtain and the sink was very low due to it being a handicapped room. Went to the check in desk right away but they had closed at 6pm. Next morning went again they said they had no more rooms available which they should of listed it was a handicapped apartment but than I asked for atleast a free breakfast to makeup for it which they agreed on. It was a very nice big breakfast for the 2 nights for 4 people delivered to the room.

Totally fine apartment for a night

Quiet property. Cleaning products in the apartment smelled like strawberry jolly ranchers - which we didn’t like (it was too strong). Cleanliness was pretty good (some random stray hairs that weren’t ours), and the rooms were comfortable and all had AC.

The checkin was prompt and the gentlemen was very friendly and helpful especially after having just had an argument with a terrible taxi driver. The apartment was bright and spacious and very clean. I wish the pool was heated as the weather was lovely but too cold to swim in an unheated pool. The kitchen had most everything you would need except ice cube trays. The details said I had a washer and dryer unit but after calling I was told that particular unit did not actually have a washer so I had to air dry the clothes outside on the patio, no problem except some rain. The apartments are in a residential hilly area. It’s a nice 15-20 minute walk into town but definitely recommend a cab back especially at night for safety (no street lights/sidewalks) etc. I would definitely stay here again. Lovely staff.

If you check-in out of hours, make sure to contact the place to ensure youre given the pin to the safe so you can collect your keys. If i hadnt called, i wouldnt have received any information and we would have been stuck

The location of the village is really cool, quiet and requires a car for travel though.

The apartment I stayed in was incredibly spacious and very homely and clean. I had everything I needed to cook my own meals. The staff were wonderfully friendly - the lady who showed me around the apartment on check-in was lovely, as were the two guys who helped me with my luggage storage on the last day. The complex is small, peaceful, and a 10-minute walk from the nearest small supermarket/20 mins from the centre of Carvoeiro.

Check in was a bit of a wait due to an issue with the guest before us, but after this point on, our stay was perfect. We enjoyed our stay at Placid Village and found that it was very clean with lots of amenities. The pool, although not huge was adequate. The bar/shack next to the pool could have been better, it sold crisps and ice-cream but would have been better if you could have ordered hot food as well. The only downside of our stay was that when we arrived the receptionist queried whether we had paid for our stay, she said that our payment seemed to have been rejected but as we had paid in advance of our stay we knew this was not the case. So she was a bit confused about this and caused us a bit of stress because we had to check our visa bill and check with our travel partner to ensure that we actually had paid in advance. This could have been handled better by the receptionist and was not a nice way to start our holiday. Apart from that our stay was excellent.

Excellent apartment for a family. 20 minutes walk into town a little longer back as uphill. A small area without a path but road fairly quiet. Probably need a car to carry the shopping if doing a little self catering. Cleaning every day if you let them, with a plentiful supply of towels. A few dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee and a little washing up liquid means the little things don't need to be bought. Even pool towels. Would consider another stay!

The apartment was extremely well equipped and loads of space. We particularly liked the coffee machine with coffee supplied ! We also like the fact that the buildings are all only 2 storey high so you don't feel \"trapped in\" within the complex. The apartment as well as the pool and surrounding area was lovely and clean.

Quality wise the 3 bedroom apartment was very good with a decent sized living area and large modern and well equipped kitchen.Bedrooms were small but fine.Bathroom was excellent and separate room with washing machine and extra WC.Pool on site was excellent but as not heated, it needs to be hot o use it.No views to speak of though no problem as were out most of the time.Easy walk downhill into Carvoeiro centre and 5 Euro taxi back.

Lovely place to stay

Really nice apartments, seem to have been renovated recently. Pool was quiet, no too big but enough for the kids to play in and for us to cool off.
You can walk into town from the apartment, it's about 1.2k. Taxi back at the end of the night is only a few euros.

How aptly named!

The standard of accommodation was so much better than expected: modern, well-equipped and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
I had read a couple of negative reviews prior to arrival which had left me with what proved to be totally needless concerns; Placid Village simply isn't in the middle of nowhere and impossible to find, nor are the roads so full of potholes that taxis refuse to go on site - has whoever wrote that driven in the UK lately?
Placid Village is a very simple 15 minute walk from the centre of Carvoeiro (2nd right, 1st left!!!) or a 5€ taxi ride (best late at night, taxis plentiful and safe).

Any negatives?

Perhaps one large, unusually loud, atypical group of guests and the building work next door did mean Placid Village didn't quite lice up to its name but that's hardly their fault and the many positives far outweighed these negatives.

If, as a grumpy, turning 60 perfectionist, I am happy to recommend the place then it can't be too bad! Seriously though, in a great setting and close to ever popular Carvoeiro, I'd happily go back any time.
